My family was visiting Pigeon Forge last weekend. On our way home we stopped at a Cracker Barrel before hitting the interstate. We had an older gentlemen that waited on us that obviously didn't have much experience with serving. He was very polite and after our order he said let this old Marine get this order in. By the time our breakfast was done he had been probably the most polite and courteous waiter I have ever had. A friend from home was in the restaurant and we picked up his bill. Anyway for our waiter we had left a tip that was almost the total of the bill. While we where checking out he ran out to make sure we meant to leave that much. Wanted to know if he was supposed to split with the other waiter which we told him no. That the tip was for the great service for the meal and to our country, he almost was in tears and said thanks that he was working there because both of his boys where overseas and his daughter in law was in Korea. He has his grandchildren for eleven months til they get home , and needed every penny he could make for the kids. Just thought that was worth sharing about the kind of people this country never hears about.10 points

Had a couple of great days fishing the beach this week down in Seagrove Beach. Caught this redfish that was just in the slot within 20 minutes of my line hitting the water. It's rare that you get to share such a treat with family and friends, but the meal that this fish provided was a true blessing - blackened redfish over smoked Gouda cheese grits.4 points

We had 7 adults and 9 kids down there. That redfish fed everyone. We made fish tacos with the pompano. We didn't want a single bite of the meat to go to waste, so we all ate until we were stuffed. We got to have some good conversations with a bunch of the kids, too - several of whom don't really come from sporting families. We got to talk about what it means to consume meat, and why some of us think it's important to participate in the food chain - how getting literal blood on our hands makes us more fully appreciate the proverbial blood each of us omnivores has on our hands. My oldest daughter and I have had this conversation before, and she really got it this time. It's neat because when we shared the meal that the redfish provided with our family and friends she really understood the almost sacred act that those meals represent to so many of us.4 points

Wife and I bought a new place 6+ weeks ago. Was fortunate enough that we did not have to sell our other place, but we decided to rent it. Been moving stuff and more stuff for weeks, and the gun safe was the last item to move. This was yesterday to move the last item! Its a 60"x40"x30" type heavy heavy safe. She and I actually moved it the first time maybe 14-15 years ago. This time, she called my brother to take her place. All I can say is moving the safe was tough, no issues, but I am sore just tugging and pulling. We used PVC pipe and used an enclosed trailer that had a loading ramp. Thankfully no steps anywhere, but had a door threshold that had about 2-3" drop, but used a 2" diameter PVC for that. Was able to transport the safe in an enclosed trailer with heavy duty straps. Then had two thresholds at the new house with sliding glass doors to go through. Had to use wood and planking around the runners of the glass doors to avoid damage. Safe is now in place on concrete, and finished up anchoring the safe using 3/4" diameter wedge anchors late last night that I found at Home Depot. Thankfully had a hammer drill, piece of cake to drill 4-6" deep into the concrete. Conclusion, my kids can move the safe next. And if I buy another, which I do need one, I will gladly pay for the installation! Feels good to have the guns back in the safe location!2 points

I'm done with those stupid CARB compliant fuel cans and their nozzles that cause me to spill more fuel than any normal can ever did. I ordered a new NATO jerry can from the link below on Thursday. It shipped the same day and arrived Friday. Free overnight shipping? Yes, please. Their free-shipping was UPS Ground. I expected 2-day delivery from Lexington to Nashville based on prior experience, but overnight was even better. It's exactly as pictured on their site. Made in Latvia, full NATO specs, rolled and fully welded seems, no cheap tabs/spot welds like on the Chinese crap at places like Sportsmans Guide. These are not stamped with "For non-potable water" or "For non-fuel use only" or anything like that. Just nice new NATO spec Jerry cans. DOES NOT INCLUDE SPOUT. You have to add them to your order, but you don't need one for every can. The spout is a matching steel base with a semi-flexible plastic end with a built-in screen filter. No CARB compliance here. With the free shipping, this was the cheapest place I could find them. I did find a great deal on a 4-pack of NATO Jerry cans at Overstock.com, but upon further inspection realized they had CARB compliant spouts. Sort of defeats the purpose. I ordered more today for a total of 4 cans and 2 spouts, plus an extra gasket per can. I'll probably never need the extra gaskets, but they're cheap and I'd rather have some if I need them. They also have 10L and 5L cans. http://lexingtoncontainercompanysonlinestore.mybigcommerce.com/jerry-can-20l/ They seem to have good prices on Gamma lids too if anyone needs any for their buckets.1 point

And one thing that just keeps bugging me, totally interferes with the pleasure of suspension of disbelief: the fact that Zed skulls are like cantaloupes. Just no prob plunging any ole blade in them, or whacking them in half with a puny backhand machete swing, or splattering them into a red mist with most any impact more than a gentle tap. - OS1 point

Let me say I'm sorry if I offended or upset you in my original post. I was useing my 1st amendment right of freedom of speech. I was not making lite of the 150 lives that were taken by a sick individual. I used the term liberal instead of Democrat and conservative instead Republican because both parties are a shell of there old selfes. I'm a registered Democrat and I'm very conservative the Democratic party use to be for the middle class now they are not. The Republicans are out for big companies and not the middle class. So I vote and support who is best for my family and interest witch is getting harder to find every elections. We have to stand up and express or selfes every chance we get or we will be ran over and pushed to the side. So like a said in the beginning I am very sorry if I offended you but put your big boy pants on and suck it up have a nice day1 point

First rate information OS. The only people who should wave paper in an officer's face are credible representatives waving it at the Chief in the Chief's office. An individual gun owner waving it in an individual officer's face during an emergency would have no effect at all beyond irritating an already irritated cop. Besides, I don't think the issue of confiscation in this discussion is concerned with the actions of an individual officer. Rather, I believe it deals much more with the broader issue of state and local government and their agencies confiscating firearms from a number of gun owners during a disaster. In that vein, this is a very well-crafted statute that doesn't give local government much wiggle room at all. I wish all statutes supporting private gun ownership were this well written.1 point

Picked up the cheap 9mm&.40 Perfecta ammo From WM after reading the thread on here how good it is. Now have plenty when I pick up my G-43 in a couple weeks and put .40 away until the G-44 comes out next year.1 point

I believe the point of the thread was missed by some. I clearly see that the OP's agument wasn't to make light of the murders of 150 people, he's just pointing out that if the co-pilot had used an AR to murder those people liberals would be calling for gun control laws and calling for law suits against the maker of the AR, blame the gun and the manufacturer instead of the murderer. That's exactly thier mentality and it is a valid point. What is funny is that someone would complain about the criticising of liberals on an internet forum where most all of it's members are conservative thinkers, those who still value personal choice and value and believe in the Constitution. If I joined a forum ran by MSNBC I believe I would expect members there to often complain about conservatives, especially on their political forums and I would classify the 2nd. Amendment forum here at TGO to be a political forum with threads often criticising liberals. Also, it is an internet forum where people try to type fast and share opinions among friends, it is not a letter, memo or presentation to CEO's at some big company so a few grammer errors or a misspelled word or two isn't a big deal to me, I know what they are saying. I've noticed on forums some people use that as a petty insult to a poster when they are angry about what they posted and a petty insult is all that it is, nothing more. Don't expect to read a political forum or thread and not read something you don't like or agree with. Edit: BTW, Criticising and Criticizing are both correct, like defense and defence.1 point

This is why I LOVE my Savages. I have yet to have one that is not this accurate. I had some that had some heat related drifting because of their off center bore but even those shot amazing groups before the barrel warmed. What you need now is a silencer to go with it. I have been working on, and building, my Savages for about 10 years now. When I first got into "tactical rifles" I called a friend and asked which is better Remington or Savage. He said Remington is better but Savage is more accurate out of the box. I could have just as easily been a Remington guy had I not wanted the most accurate rifle. A Savage is like the 10/22 of the centerfire world. You can change out EVERYTHING, including calibers, at home without the need of a gunsmith. I am getting ready to build another Savage but this one will be a little different. It will be a 12 gauge with a rifled bore. I am going to see how well I can get it to shoot 2+ ounce slugs by loading it like a traditional rifle. Should be a fun project and if it does turn out to be a really accurate package I might build a silencer for it as well.1 point

If you have any questions or just want to speak 300 Blackout feel free to get a hold of me. I would be glad to give you my number. I have about every platform that can be had in 300 Blackout and it is my "forever" caliber. I will never be without a 300 Blackout and would give up any of my 223's in order to keep a 300 Blackout. I am very, very active in the 300 Blackout community and any problem that you might have I have probably seen before.1 point

If you've never installed them before they do require some fitting and some finesse. The rear sight is tapered towards the rear so you have to be careful not to twist the sight and damage it, been there done that. They are great sights though, I've got both a yellow set and orange set and my eyes pick up the orange set better. edit: will probably send the next set of for installation1 point

Plenty of kids had high and tights when I was in school. Not so much to make a statement, but more because their parents took them on post to get a cheap haircut, and back then a high and tight was about the only haircut the PX barbers could do without consistently screwing up. How the world has changed...1 point

I have already had a friend that does not own guns buy my conversion parts. If this gets approved you will not be able to find a MG part for a long time. If it doesn't go our way my friend will just toss the parts in the river. Most I am out is $40.1 point
-
Wow, I'm just getting caught up on this. This would be a big win. I don't really have a strong desire for a MG since it would chew up and spit out all my ammo way too fast :) but the right should definitely be restored. Plus, it's just another layer and buffer between the anti's and their attack on the semi's, bolts, levers, etc. I don't like the fact that more people would be willing to "register" a firearm, but we have to take baby steps. I hope the good news continues1 point

I think all the parents with any respect for our military should stand up and demand that the principal be removed from his position at the school for sure. Form a legal non violent protest out in front of the school until the man is gone. That young man is to be admired for his love of his step brother and his love of country.............jmho1 point

I bought this one a few weeks back. I was looking for a 9mm. Talk about ADD. It's a 1949 model 70 Winchester standard in 30-06. It came with a Redfield 1 piece mount and rings, and a 3-9 Redfield scope. My very first handload attempt rewarded me with a 1", 100 yard 3 shot group. The trigger is great, and the action glides like it's on ball bearings. Once upon a time, Winchester built world class firearms.1 point
