My family was visiting Pigeon Forge last weekend. On our way home we stopped at a Cracker Barrel before hitting the interstate. We had an older gentlemen that waited on us that obviously didn't have much experience with serving. He was very polite and after our order he said let this old Marine get this order in. By the time our breakfast was done he had been probably the most polite and courteous waiter I have ever had. A friend from home was in the restaurant and we picked up his bill. Anyway for our waiter we had left a tip that was almost the total of the bill. While we where checking out he ran out to make sure we meant to leave that much. Wanted to know if he was supposed to split with the other waiter which we told him no. That the tip was for the great service for the meal and to our country, he almost was in tears and said thanks that he was working there because both of his boys where overseas and his daughter in law was in Korea. He has his grandchildren for eleven months til they get home , and needed every penny he could make for the kids. Just thought that was worth sharing about the kind of people this country never hears about.10 points

Had a couple of great days fishing the beach this week down in Seagrove Beach. Caught this redfish that was just in the slot within 20 minutes of my line hitting the water. It's rare that you get to share such a treat with family and friends, but the meal that this fish provided was a true blessing - blackened redfish over smoked Gouda cheese grits.4 points

We had 7 adults and 9 kids down there. That redfish fed everyone. We made fish tacos with the pompano. We didn't want a single bite of the meat to go to waste, so we all ate until we were stuffed. We got to have some good conversations with a bunch of the kids, too - several of whom don't really come from sporting families. We got to talk about what it means to consume meat, and why some of us think it's important to participate in the food chain - how getting literal blood on our hands makes us more fully appreciate the proverbial blood each of us omnivores has on our hands. My oldest daughter and I have had this conversation before, and she really got it this time. It's neat because when we shared the meal that the redfish provided with our family and friends she really understood the almost sacred act that those meals represent to so many of us.4 points

Wife and I bought a new place 6+ weeks ago. Was fortunate enough that we did not have to sell our other place, but we decided to rent it. Been moving stuff and more stuff for weeks, and the gun safe was the last item to move. This was yesterday to move the last item! Its a 60"x40"x30" type heavy heavy safe. She and I actually moved it the first time maybe 14-15 years ago. This time, she called my brother to take her place. All I can say is moving the safe was tough, no issues, but I am sore just tugging and pulling. We used PVC pipe and used an enclosed trailer that had a loading ramp. Thankfully no steps anywhere, but had a door threshold that had about 2-3" drop, but used a 2" diameter PVC for that. Was able to transport the safe in an enclosed trailer with heavy duty straps. Then had two thresholds at the new house with sliding glass doors to go through. Had to use wood and planking around the runners of the glass doors to avoid damage. Safe is now in place on concrete, and finished up anchoring the safe using 3/4" diameter wedge anchors late last night that I found at Home Depot. Thankfully had a hammer drill, piece of cake to drill 4-6" deep into the concrete. Conclusion, my kids can move the safe next. And if I buy another, which I do need one, I will gladly pay for the installation! Feels good to have the guns back in the safe location!2 points

First rate information OS. The only people who should wave paper in an officer's face are credible representatives waving it at the Chief in the Chief's office. An individual gun owner waving it in an individual officer's face during an emergency would have no effect at all beyond irritating an already irritated cop. Besides, I don't think the issue of confiscation in this discussion is concerned with the actions of an individual officer. Rather, I believe it deals much more with the broader issue of state and local government and their agencies confiscating firearms from a number of gun owners during a disaster. In that vein, this is a very well-crafted statute that doesn't give local government much wiggle room at all. I wish all statutes supporting private gun ownership were this well written.1 point

I believe the point of the thread was missed by some. I clearly see that the OP's agument wasn't to make light of the murders of 150 people, he's just pointing out that if the co-pilot had used an AR to murder those people liberals would be calling for gun control laws and calling for law suits against the maker of the AR, blame the gun and the manufacturer instead of the murderer. That's exactly thier mentality and it is a valid point. What is funny is that someone would complain about the criticising of liberals on an internet forum where most all of it's members are conservative thinkers, those who still value personal choice and value and believe in the Constitution. If I joined a forum ran by MSNBC I believe I would expect members there to often complain about conservatives, especially on their political forums and I would classify the 2nd. Amendment forum here at TGO to be a political forum with threads often criticising liberals. Also, it is an internet forum where people try to type fast and share opinions among friends, it is not a letter, memo or presentation to CEO's at some big company so a few grammer errors or a misspelled word or two isn't a big deal to me, I know what they are saying. I've noticed on forums some people use that as a petty insult to a poster when they are angry about what they posted and a petty insult is all that it is, nothing more. Don't expect to read a political forum or thread and not read something you don't like or agree with. Edit: BTW, Criticising and Criticizing are both correct, like defense and defence.1 point

If they still made cap pistols like I had as a child I guess you would only be able to buy a roll of caps with 10 pops in each roll if the dictator had his way................................. :rant:1 point

This is why I LOVE my Savages. I have yet to have one that is not this accurate. I had some that had some heat related drifting because of their off center bore but even those shot amazing groups before the barrel warmed. What you need now is a silencer to go with it. I have been working on, and building, my Savages for about 10 years now. When I first got into "tactical rifles" I called a friend and asked which is better Remington or Savage. He said Remington is better but Savage is more accurate out of the box. I could have just as easily been a Remington guy had I not wanted the most accurate rifle. A Savage is like the 10/22 of the centerfire world. You can change out EVERYTHING, including calibers, at home without the need of a gunsmith. I am getting ready to build another Savage but this one will be a little different. It will be a 12 gauge with a rifled bore. I am going to see how well I can get it to shoot 2+ ounce slugs by loading it like a traditional rifle. Should be a fun project and if it does turn out to be a really accurate package I might build a silencer for it as well.1 point

It's still funny. I'm glad to see that someone else noticed that some of these guys never seem to have a good day and can connect a liberal or Obama to everything that bothers them.1 point

They are built like tanks, and fit in your hand like a glove fit for you by a custom glove company. I carried an SNG for over 4 years and used it for everything at work offshore and when I was home, I lost it and did not buy another and wished that some day They would be automatic and be allowed to be legally carried by me and that day is near1 point

http://palmettostatearmory.com/ Palmetto State has numerous offerings at very good prices. They constantly are running sales (as in prices change daily). Many of their uppers use FN barrels....same as USGI. I have a couple and they are very good for the price.1 point

I don't know what their requirements are as far as how likely others are to request a certain "shoe" or not, but they say that if you're willing to send them your slide, they will machine a shoe for that make and model and then send you one for free as a thank you.1 point

Love it. It made changing sights on springfield xds and s&w Shields even easy. I just wish it had more shoes available for different guns, they have most everything covered, but i like to have everything covered.1 point

I think some of you need to get out and get some air. I am getting more tired of the complaining about Liberals than I am the Liberals complaining about guns. Not that a lot of it isn't warranted, but holy cow, you have to have something better to do with your time don't you? This was a tragedy. Everything doesn't have to be about Liberals and guns. Also, can we try use proper grammar and spelling when complaining Liberals are "to stupid to think for there selfs". It only takes a second to proof read.1 point
-
Because liberals are to stupid to think for there selfs so one of there (god's) has to tell them how to think. They like having private jets so they will not blame the plane1 point

How would use the sights on an AR pistol if you didn't bring the gun to eye level? And wouldn't the buffer tube come up to the cheek or shoulder area when you use the sights correctly?1 point

SB1171 now on the Senate Floor calendar for April 1 - likely they will substitute and conform to the amended HB0995. Heard the same thing RE Haslam's intentions - wonder if there was a backroom deal for this one that also touched on the resurrection of Insure TN (noticed that Crowe and Sen Health Cmte passed it yesterday) and/or Common Core (the amended bill simply extends the current situation another 2 years, and leaves the CC door wide open)... My dislike for the cesspool formerly known as the TN Gen Assembly grows more intense every day.1 point

I bought this one a few weeks back. I was looking for a 9mm. Talk about ADD. It's a 1949 model 70 Winchester standard in 30-06. It came with a Redfield 1 piece mount and rings, and a 3-9 Redfield scope. My very first handload attempt rewarded me with a 1", 100 yard 3 shot group. The trigger is great, and the action glides like it's on ball bearings. Once upon a time, Winchester built world class firearms.1 point

I haven't fired a M44 but never thought that the 91/30 had any significant recoil seeing as it weights about 27 pounds. Of course the most important thing to ask yourself when shopping for a recoil pad is "does this match my purse?" :P1 point
