Don't feel bad... Glock is late on a single-stack 9mm by a decade or so. :rofl:5 points

With all this fixed blade knife goodness going on here, I ran across what I think is quite a deal. I like the idea of having a modest sized fixed blade I can carry. I'm also somewhat traditional and like wood scales and leather sheaths. Plus I'm cheap. ;) Enter the Boker Magnum Survival.... http://www.boker.de/us/fixed-blade-knife/boker/tactical-knife/02SC310.html $26 to my door. Yep, really. I'm no knife expert, but I fiddled around with it over the weekend. I don't really consider it a true "survival knife", but its a perfectly serviceable camp/utility knife. It was reasonably sharp out of the box, just barely shaving sharp. I assume that'll be the norm since it's a 440 stainless blade as opposed to something like 1095. Probably a better choice for this purpose anyway... less concern for chipping it or corrosion. The notch is listed for cutting cord, rope, etc. I didn't have any rope laying around that I wanted to make shorter so I can't say how well it works for that. I did do a good job shaving little knots off the stick I was whittling on. It's got a little ridge on the spine to act as a thumb stop, but I think it could use a little jimping for a more tactile feel. I may have a go at that myself at some point. The wrong handed sheath is a bit of an expected bummer (I'm left handed), but carrying it on my left side seemed to work fine. For the price, I'm more than satisfied. :)3 points

In the great state of TN it is illegal to give or receive oral sex, shoot any game from a moving automobile except a WHALE, sell a hollow log, and carry a skunk into the state!!! LMBO I thought these were really funny.3 points

I made a knife a couple of weeks ago and had so much fun with the style that I decided to do another one but kick it up a little more! The knife was a "Persian" style grind and I decided to make the new one longer and the handle a bit slimmer to further exaggerate the lines. It is currently at heat treat and should be back in about a week. When I get it back I'll make the scales out of bone colored Micarta and fine tune the front edge area of the blade on the grinder to make it a proverbial razor!! What do you all think? Jim2 points

As of 7/1/2014 there are no restriction on blade length or method of opening assisted and auto (switchblades) are legal to carry in the state of TN.2 points

Since I'm between projects and temporarily back running the gun, I take offense. Spring and summer are coming and when it gets hot and thick it ain't much of a racket. Everbody thinks every day is 70 degrees and beautiful, open, green pasture. Everyone has to get paid haha2 points

Get somebody to challenge Harwell in the primary from the hard right... Don't have to win the seat, just have to wound her bad enough we loose the seat to the democrats... Start going to her town hall meetings and asking her pointed question wouldn't hurt either. The pro-2nd amendment community needs to take a scorched earth stance on this situation, if you're not with us on every vote, we might as well replace you with a democrat.2 points

On a side note while there is some merit to loud pipes getting you noticed, I'm a fan of this quote: "If you think loud pipes save lives, imagine what learning to ride the thing will do." I encourage my fellow motorcyclists to get advanced training when possible from places like the Total Control riding clinic that comes to Nashville every year. Hijack over2 points

Not sure why they can't pay people to do that, when on the low end, they're making $1.5mil from booth space alone.2 points

I got fired from my job last week at the pork and bean plant. It was a good job I was in charge of putting the beans in the can. But they said I was putting them in upside down, giving everyone the hiccups.1 point

Correct, if they are out to get into your network, then they can. But most of us dont have a network that hackers want to get into. And crackers/hackers are more likely to go after the soft targets to further hack a better network from. So anything you can do to make it harder for them is worth doing.1 point

I figure it boils down to "Why pay when you can find eager volunteers?"1 point

It is still illegal to carry a long gun on your person with ammunition present. An SBR would fall under that as well.1 point

I have heard from a fairly good number of respectable people that if they are trying to sell their house and not getting offers, they will raise the asking price. It seems to work pretty often.1 point

This sumbeech runs on the same 87-octane you can get from any gas station. For as little as $700, I'm pretty sure they are going to sell a few. http://xm42.com/ http://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/xm42-handheld-flame-thrower-indiegogo/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2iD9iNfh0U1 point

No they have not, we can still shoulder a bare buffer tube. LumberJack has taken deer with his 300 Blackout pistol. I do not hunt anymore but I see no reason why it would not work.1 point

Sounds like we need a TGO 'reporter' to go down to every meeting that has a firearms bill in front of it, and record the entire meeting ;)1 point

I did a couple years ago. Just didn't have the space to store more ammo. Which is sad in its own right. I got rid of stuff like 40s&w, 6.8spc, 38special and a couple others. Just wasn't worth it. I stick to 9mm and 45 in pistols and smg's now, and 223 and 308 for rifles. I have a 300/221 Sbr AR but I've had that since.... Mid 2000 something and it's fun to shoot suppressed and makes a great house gun. So I'll probably keep that to my one "non standard" round. It really is worth consolidating. Just makes life easier.1 point

No, Darryl and Aaron saw the campfire of the Wolves. They waited until daylight to check it out and that's when they found the arms, legs, and the tree hugger. I can't figure out why they're collecting torsos.1 point

I don't have personal experience with any bolt rifles for long range beyond a Savage 10fp. I have read a bit from others who claim to have experience with FN SPR bolts. Reddit's /r/longrange loves them. Best out of the box rifle on the market seems to be their viewpoint over there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD1 point

Claude Werner is a remarkable individual and one of the most precise and concise critical thinkers in the community currently. I haven't had the opportunity to train with him yet, several people I know and trust hold him in high regard. Members of his "tribe" include such individuals as William Aprill, Tom Givens, Craig Douglas, Paul Sharp, and John Herne. They have all earned my respect and attention long ago. Below is a link to Ballistic Radio, an actual Sunday night Radio broadcast, and podcast, and a very recent interview with said "Tactical Professor" Claude Werner. Well worth a listen imho. http://ballisticradio.com/2015/03/04/negative-outcomes-101-with-the-tactical-professor-podcast-season-2-ballistic-radio-episode-101-march-1st-2015/1 point

One of Ricks dumbest moves yet. He should never mess with a married woman. He should never confront a man in the open either. Should have made him disappear in the middle of the night. Easy peasy.1 point

At one time mine was named John Galt. My Dad was at my house and was looking at the available networks on his phone and asked, "who is John Galt" not knowing the significance of the question. My wife and I busted out laughing.1 point

One would think that if a foreigner served time in our military, he/she would want to attain natural citizenship before assuming law enforcement responsibility. A green card was originally granted as a means for temporary work; long-term careers, especially involving public safety, should be reserved for those desiring to assimilate and swear allegiance to this country and its Constitution.1 point

As a general rule I supported LE for a long time after I quit LE. But over time I quit supporting them as much as I once did and started viewing them differently. Now I only help individual officers, never departments, and only those I have come to know. But even then I do not trust those I know because they will turn if it benefits them. I do not trust the average officer to do what is right any more. Spent enough time in LE to know that most, not all, officers are no longer about protecting their communities but controlling or imparting their will upon others. It seems like the younger they are the worse it is. If I met an officer I mind what I say and what I do often ignoring them if I can because they are always looking. There are some great officers out there that do what is right all the time but all it takes is a chance encounter with one of the bad ones to ruin your life. Even if the officer is 100% in the wrong, and you get cleared of everything, it will cost you 10's of thousands of dollars to do so while the officer is rarely held accountable. I hated to see people who were probably innocent plead guilty to a lesser charge or reduced sentence because they could not afford the cost of being exonerated. I will tell you a story about my last interaction with LE. I had someone do something to my wife and I that was against the law. What they did was put our name, our address, my phone number and pictures of my wife from Facebook. They posted it on Craigslist telling people to come to my house at a specified time and rape my wife. Figuring this was a plan by my brother, who tried to kill us before, I contacted local LE for help. I gave them all the information as well as asked for a patrol to be present at the time specified in the ad in case some crazy decided to show up. They made all kinds of excuses why they could not help. I begged for help and they said they would not until after it happened. I told the sheriff that if anyone came in my house and tried to harm my wife I would kill them. Then the sheriff acted like I was a criminal for making that statement. Well after it was obvious they were not going to help I contacted my attorney who then called the sheriff. The attorney told the sheriff this was a credible threat because my brother had tried to kill us in the past but the sheriff still refused to have a patrol in the area. My attorney then told the sheriff he would sue him if anything happened at the time specified. Well a few days after my attorney threatened to sue the department two officers showed up at my house out of the blue. They asked for me and my wife told them I was sleeping. The officers did not leave and had my wife wake me up from a nap and come to the door so they could talk to me. The reason? They were there because they wanted to know what kind of guns I had in the house. This was nothing more than a fishing trip by the officers, at the direction from the sheriff, to try to find a reason to throw me in jail after my attorney threatened to sue the department. This happened about 4 months ago and that is why I will not trust officers to do what is right, especially my local ones.1 point

LMAO even though it's FUGLY as sin it will still go bang with reasonable owners care. I've seen them work after being left dry, dirty and rusty with only a shot or two of lube. iMHO an excellent bit of design work whereby price and reliability outweighed appearance resulting in customer support. Kind of cool but I still don't own one, though I will probably buy a carbine to play with pretty soon.1 point
