  1. This is made from 1095 carbon steel 1/4" thick. It has an 8/14" blade with a total length of about 14". It's professionally heat treated to a RC 59-60. The scales are stabilized mineral stained Afzelia Xylay sanded to 1000 grit and oiled with Scandinavian tung oil. They came out pretty sweet. They are mechanically fastened with as well as epoxied. It has be lightly acid dipped and sanded with 1000 grit paper. It has nice jimping on the spine as well as a swedge.......unsharpened. It comes with a black kydex sheath and is drilled for a large Blade Tech TekLoc which is not included. I've been wanting to make something of this design and finally got around to it. It's a pretty cool knife. It's available.

  3. Finished up this fun design last night, except for sharpening. 9 1/4" overall with a 4 1/2 " blade of 01 steel. Yellow, OD Green, and Coyote Brown Micarta scales with brass pins and Toxic Green liners. This blade design might not be for everybody with the bottle opener and Pommel, but this design just kinda morphed as I was making it! I am really jazzed about it and so is the new owner that I will deliver it to tomorrow. Here it is for your critiques and viewing pleasure!!

  7. I apologize for the long post but I thought everyone would appreciate the details.    Some of you may recall my post a few months back where we thought someone tried to break in. Things have progressed since then. Back in December I caught 3 little thugs trying to break into my neighbors house(right next door). My dog did a great job of alerting me and I just happened to be working from home that day. Cops caught all 3.    2 doors down from me lives a middle aged woman with a daughter in her 20's and a son with autism. On Thursday at 11:15am the daughter was home alone and asleep in her room when the doorbell rang. By the time she got to the door and looked through the peephole she saw a black male walking back to a car parked in the street. She watched them closely but decided they were leaving and went to lay back down. As soon as she hit the bed another knock followed. She went back to the door and looked through the peep to see a massive black male. At this point she backed away and went back to the hallway when the door was kicked in. One kick was all it took. At that point she screamed "WHAT THE F*** ". Amazingly the guy immediately ran out the door and the car fled. They have not been caught yet. She didn't get a plate number but did get excellent descriptions of both men and the car.    Since they live alone their strategy is that they never open the door for anyone. Also, she didn't want to say anything to them because she didn't want them to realize it was a woman home alone. My fiance and I have the same strategy. If someone knocks while I'm gone she goes to the door armed and looks through the peep hole but doesn't say anything. I think this will change in the future. Also, instead of standing in front of the door where you could be shot or hit in the face(with the door) I'm going to have her look through a window.   Here is my advice-most of this you have heard before.   - Reinforce your door. The door was fine but the frame was completely destroyed.  -If someone knocks, let people know you are home without opening the door.   -Ask neighbors who are home during the day to keep their eyes peeled( if you live in a neighborhood).  -have a pistol on you or near you. If your gun is at the other end of the house it won't due you a damn bit of good. -Get a security system and a guard dog. I have both and I wonder if it's why they picked my neighbors house. Maybe they saw the security sign in my yard. -The sheriff recommended leaving a car in the driveway during the day. My neighbor had hers in the garage so they obviously thought no one was home.   Since this happened I've talked to many of my neighbors. I was happy to hear some are already armed and the ones who are not are planning on buying their first firearm(including the victims).    Also, take a look at the crime in my neighborhood in the past 6 months.     Total Assault 2 Burglary 5 Theft 7 Stolen Vehicle 1 Property Crime 5   20

  13. So I bought this gun here on TGO sometime last year with the intention of suppressing it. Problem was the factory barrel had the front sight too close to the muzzle and the front sight was dovetailed in so there was no way I could have moved the front sight back. But rather than give up I bought a Green Mountain barrel blank and made my own barrel. It is 416 stainless, button rifled, stress relieved and air gauged and this thing is amazingly accurate. Part of the accuracy is because I chambered it using a Lilja spec chamber reamer. It is also threaded 1/2-28 at the muzzle and that is my 22 silencer I made 4-5 years ago screwed onto the end of the barrel. The barrel is 18" long making it lightweight and handy. With the suppressor it is extremely quiet with subsonic ammunition. It sounds like I am dry firing it. And I still have the factory 22" barrel if I ever decide to go back to the factory setup but honestly I see no reason to. The sights are from a Contender. The rear is easily adjusted while the front is fixed but I can replace the blade if I so choose. I might add a tang sight at sometime in the future so I can make some really long range shots. If I ever start hunting again the squirrels better watch out. And when the granddaughter gets old enough it will likely get a coat of pink paint. Excuse the dirty gun. I am not a fan of cleaning and this thing is so much fun I have been shooting the crap out of it since it was done.

  14. Middle Tennessee Shooters Club in Manchester will be holding a steel match on Sunday March 15th. It will consist of 5 field courses of reactive steel targets with a total round count of 120. There will be pistol divisions for production, limited, and open. Shotgun divisions for standard and open and a pistol caliber carbine division. (No full autos.) Registration starts at 11:00 and ends at noon. $10 for MTSC members and $15 for non members. You may shoot multiple divisions but the entry fee is the same for each gun.

  17. These guys don't have the mental capacity to dig ditches. So when they get put in "charge" they go crazy. There is no other excuse for being such dicks. What harm could come from someone shooting a suppressor, legal or otherwise? I can understand not allowing full auto, but suppressors? It just shows you they have know basic understanding of them.

  18. Well it looks like the criminal thugs intimidation in Ferguson is working. A black man shoots two citizens in a crowd (cops or not) and he is charged with assault in the first degree. If it had been a white man shooting blacks in the crowd the charge would have been attempted murder/hate crime/ some type of terrorist charge and Federal Civil rights charges.

  19. We have an unofficial neighborhood watch program on our street. We all know each other, and the vehicles we drive.   At least four of us on the street are home all day long, and we do rotate the position of cars so it doesn't look as if it's just parked and no one there.   We all have our phone number in phones, and tend to watch traffic on the street. Since it is a dead end street, we watch them very carefully. I f a car or truck makes multiple passes thru, we alert the others.   If it looks wrong, we call the local  station and ask for a drive thru. And we try to note type and license numbers as well.   We have had a couple of vehicles stopped and investigated this way. Actually caught one set of street thugs that had just hit a house nearby.   And I have no weapons near any door or window. I have none in any cabinet nor in sight anywhere.   Sure. You believe that...don't you.

  22. Benchmade will send you replacement Belt Clips if you call and request them. I Got 3 replacements a couple years ago with new screws to boot, and it didn't cost me a dime. Their Customer service has always beenTop Notch, and when I mainly carried 1 of several Benchmades as an EDC Knife, I would send them off to Benchmade for a Spa Treatment. They would come back just like Brand New which was really nice... If you happen to find an older BM knife with a warn out Partially serrated Edge Blade, call the BM and if the have a Plain Edged Blade in a certain Blade material that you want, they may Very well put it on there for you?!! It happens & it did for me several times. That was nice!

  25. Anyone see the recent rulings in Texas. The judge on the Texas supreme court has ruled the 1986 ban in unconstitutional. Then the question was asked of the ATF with them required to respond on the 21st of March. They were asked for a valid reason why a MG made before 1986 is legal to possess wile the exact same one after 1986 is illegal. The ATF responded with they have no valid reason why but asked the court to side with them anyway. So the case in Texas is close to being done. Next is whether the US supreme court will hear it, if the ATF appeals, or if the US supreme court sends it back to the Texas court affirming the ban is illegal.   This is the closest we have been to having legal MG ownership of brand new guns in 30 years.

  31. GP,   For reference, 3 thou (.003) is about the thickness of a sheet of notebook paper.  I usually engrave them a hundredth.  It's still super subtle.  If you know you're going to cerakote I highly recommend blasting before engraving.  cerakote if applied properly will not fill this however you can inadvertently spray it thick and it will dull it considerably.    Regardless, I engrave until I hit the base and then go the hundredth after. Your thickness needs to be from base not from top coat as that will vary product to product.   If you need someone to engrave and/or blast I do both.  NFA engraving is $35 and blast would be $20.  I'm in Oak Ridge west side of Knoxville if you're ever up this way or of course you can ship to me and I can ship back.   Good luck

  32.   In the Norris watershed boonies, run by Norris PD, in this area:   https://www.google.com/maps/place/Upper+Clear+Creek+Rd,+Andersonville,+TN+37705/@36.2283589,-84.0502293,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x885c444672179493:0x223e075d2fe762dc   You have to sign up at PD back in Norris.   $20 per visit or $40 for whole year! Thing is, year runs June 30-June 30, fee not prorated. You get a key to gate. Open every day except for two weeks (not in a row) in fall for deer hunts.   6 or 8 covered tables on rifle side, target stands at 50, 122.5, and 200 yards. Two different pistol areas. Great place to shoot.   - OS

  33. Haslam was grasping at the chance to gain National attention by forcing Medicaid Expansion in a Southern Conservative State.  He purchased the seat at the head of the Republican Governors Assn. and has achieved Obama's Most Favored Republican Governor Status. Haslam has the centrist bona fides he and the milquetoast squishy Moderate Republicans think necessary to win, if they can just import enough entitlement seeking newbies to gain power, whilst holding on to the Conservatives.  They know it is time to change ends of the court. He is headed to the Senate, having time there gives him international experience if he kisses enough rump to get the correct committee assignments, (and he will) he already has time in the saddle as an administrator of a State, (a large bureaucracy).  He will have enough money to run, and has ties to the chamber as their boy to garner their help.  He has the chips from running a huge company, so the business folks will fawn. Anybody that does not see the steps being taken does not want to.

  38. I think it would be worth losing too. And it would very beneficial, for the leadership to know the reason she lost and who caused it. Personally, I think the Republican Leadership in Nashville sees us as a necessary evil to be courted during the election and ignored the rest of the time. Its the same way the Democrats treat the African American and LGBT vote.

  39. Harwell is the weak link...  She is ripe for being put out of a job, it wouldn't be too hard to successfully challenge her the primary by going hard right, but we'd loose the seat in the general election. But honestly I think it would be worth loosing the seat.

  41.   Unfortunately, this approach has practically ZERO effect on people who are immersed in their own self-importance and sense of superiority-- which describes the current leadership oligarchy.   Anything short of a political bitch-slap (losing an election) is ineffective, and we just missed our opportunity this last cycle.   Get used to it, at least for the foreseeable future. As long as RINOS call the shots, we will be fed occasional crumbs of "feel-good" gun legislation just enough for them to proclaim how pro-2A they are come re-election time.   We were incredibly lucky that the knife legislation went through last year... honestly, I think the bulk of them didn't even read it.

  43. Seems to me the two you are considering (Kimber micro vs Sig P238) are just variants of the Colt Mustang. Why not just go with the original? I've owned the Sig P238 (great gun) and the Micro Desert Eagle (also a great gun and very compact). I've also shot the bersa, khar seecamp and keltec .380's. But once I got my hands on a Colt Mustang Pocket lite, I'll never carry any other .380 again. Hands down the best .380 pistol ever made and well worth every penny I paid for it. Just my 2 cents, but if you can, shoot a colt before you pull the trigger on any other .380.
