2. I've heard a lot of BS from Walmart employees that wasn't true. I'd wait for an official statement from Walmart before I believed that.

 4.   Funny thing is that is how I clear a path at the gun show. I am on crutches and when things start moving a bit slow I tell my wife my polio is acting up. People look around to see some guy, me, on crutches and no doubt want to get as far away from me as possible.

I bought this one a few weeks back. I was looking for a 9mm. Talk about ADD. It's a 1949 model 70 Winchester standard in 30-06. It came with a Redfield 1 piece mount and rings, and a 3-9 Redfield scope. My very first handload attempt rewarded me with a 1", 100 yard 3 shot group. The trigger is great, and the action glides like it's on ball bearings. Once upon a time, Winchester built world class firearms.

We had a fine afternoon of shooting now that the weather has finally cooperated a bit.

 9. Here are some more current pics of my Colt Rail Gun showing the Trijicon sights that I installed and the VZ Grips "Recon" grips in black and grey G10 that I installed. I took some fine grit sandpaper to the grips to knock down just a tiny bit of the harshness. As they came out of the package, the grips would leave little pin-prick marks on the palm of my hands and were just too aggressive. After a few hits with the sandpaper, they are perfectly grippy but not harsh. The holster is an inside the waistband design by Tom Thurner at TT Gunleather. Tom's one of my favorite holster makers and I've got several of his pieces now. I'd easily put them on par with anything from Milt Sparks and the added advantage is that Tom currently only runs about 6-8 weeks behind on production. That'll probably continue to change as word keeps getting out about him, but I'm happy to send more business his way. At the bottom of this post you'll also find some info about the photography itself, for those of you who are interested in the technique and equipment used. Photography: I've had a few folks see some of my photos, compliment the quality of them and ask what I took them with. I am certainly not offended by that and understand the desire to know more and the reflexive belief that whatever you're shooting your pictures with surely couldn't produce the results you're seeing on screen. While I do not consider myself to be a pro at this by any stretch of the imagination, I have spent the past 15 years or so exploring the craft and consider myself to be marginally above average as an amateur photographer. With all of that said, I thought it would be fun to show what you can do with a little post-processing and a photo taken with equipment no more elaborate than an Apple iPhone 6. The following two shots were taken today with my iPhone 6 at around 4:00 PM with ambient sunlight on a very cloudy day. Clouds make an excellent source of soft ambient light which is key to getting a photo without distracting shadows or blown-out highlights. I then pulled the pictures into Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. I increased the images' contrast using Lightroom’s ToneCurve settings and by adding significant sharpness using the Detail settings. I then exported the image to Adobe Photoshop CS5 and to used the Content Aware Spot Healing Brush to clean up the surfaces of the objects, removing any dust, dirt or blemishes. Lastly I cloned the background layer and sharpen it using the High-Pass Filter settings and then blended the layer into the background by selecting the Overlay mode to add an “edgy” quality to the images and bring out more of the the texture and details. That's pretty much it other than to add a bit of vignetting to soften the edges of the photo and then slapping on a watermark. :) You can find the post-process steps I mentioned above and a lot more outlined on this excellent blog post: https://jefflynchdev.wordpress.com/2011/06/08/one-light-product-photography/

 13. I went to the range with my brother today to shoot some stuff for his birthday. After we had been there about 2 hrs this older gentleman pulls up and gets out with a bag, he stands behind us until we are done shooting and while we are talking he stats walking around picking up brass. Well after a few minutes this asshat says "hey buddy that's my brass your picking up do you work here or something?" To witch the older gentleman said " I am so sorry I didn't see you picking any up so I thought you were going to leave it, you see me and a couple other Vets get together and reload ammo and talk on the weekends and we ran low on brass this weekend". After that I, yes I am the ASSHAT, helped him pick up the rest and thanked him for his service to our country.  After I removed my foot from my mouth my brother and I sat there for another hour just talking to this wonderful gentleman, it turned out to be a very nice day, and I know he should have asked before picking up someones brass, but yes I still feel like a total asshat for disrespecting that nice older gentelman.

 16. If you look at the roof of just about any covered firing line at a public range, you'll see holes made by people who were safely holding their unloaded guns while others checked targets.  I've been downrange more than once when some idiot touched one off.     So, count me in with the crowd that prefers the hands-off rule while the range is cold.

 17. Going on 3 weeks now of sounding like Sam Elliott. It feels like he'll, but I'm pretty sure the wife keeps sneezing on me on purpose. I don't even LIKE Dodges. But seriously, yeah. Tight chest, raw throat, breathing like I just smoked a deck of Camels. It stopped being fun around day 1

 22.   Ehh, he could have waited until you left, or just asked you.  With ammo prices what they are these days, some people take their brass seriously.    Also, I'm instantly suspicious of people who volunteer that their veteran status in a confrontation.  Why not use just say friends, or buddies?

 23. Been there a bunch. My kids love it. Plenty of rides, shows, and games for most all kids. Typically some good live music being played. Various crafts people making stuff (blacksmith, leather smith, carriage shop). Yep, it's expensive (food, parking, souvenirs, ...) But no more so than any other similar park. Very crowded at the typical times (weekends, holidays, etc.). I don't mean to offend anyone, but Splash Country can be white trash central. Some things can't be unseen...

 24. It is family appropriate, but be prepared for your wallet to be raped!   It's been about a decade since I've been there. About mid afternoon, we got hungry. I bought 4 hot dogs and 4 cokes. The total.........$56!!!!!!!   I ain't going back.   Holiday World in Indiana is as good if not better, at a fraction of the price.

 25. Ok, this is the last of the small knives I picked up this past week. This is a Bill Coye designed Boker Ridgeback. There is actually a slightly nicer version of this available from Blade HQ, which has black carbon fiber scales and a black smoke-wash blade. The one you see here came with olive drab Micarta scales and a satin finished 440C stainless blade and cost about 50% less at just a hair under $60. The thing I like about this knife in particular is that the grip is so small. It's about 2-3 fingers long which is just fine for a small hold out belt knife, in my opinion. OAL is 6.75" and the blade is 3.375" of that. It included a simple Kydex sheath and that same funky belt-clip thing that the Boker Sidekick in my other post included. 26. I have known and still know a few men with Dementia and I have never seen any of them be bullish or belligerent towards another person. In most cases they are more of a quiet nature. Someone like the guy that approached Dolo is the kind of guy that probably beats up on his wife and would never stand up to anyone that might make his a$$ a neck tie!............jmho

 28. I tried it two years ago.  I was able to get back to my great grandfather on my paternal side.  But that was simply because I have the headstones to know birth dates and death dates.  Past that, I wasn't able to get anywhere.  There simply aren't enough public records for that time from the areas that I would be looking in.

 30.   Tell friend he shouldn't spread rumors. Fees can only be changed by amending 39-17-1351 in TCA and that has not happened.   As a matter of fact, starting next year, unless they do indeed raise the price at some point,  the overall price will be cheaper over time,  as the permits will be for 5 years instead of 4, at the same price.   Above statement is wrong. Price will be the same for the 4 year period. However, the 5 year cycle will indeed cost more than 115/50.   - OS

 35. The guys either a monkey dick or senile, maybe both. Good on you for handling it the way you did G. Personally I doubt I would have been able to resist telling him I got 'crippled'  during a particularly rowdy bout of loving with his momma.   You handled it the right way man, and good on Oma Kraut too for the sage advise. I'm honesty a bit surprised the post didn't end with you having to bail her out of the big house for giving him a bit of a smack :D German women are scary, don't mess with them!

 41. When I go to the range, all I want is to be left the hell alone.  I don't mind social conversation between strings of fire, and I don't mind answering questions from people who have a genuine desire to learn something, but when someone comes up and pontificates at my expense, I get really grumpy, really fast.
