It was a budget build, but it'll shoot three rounds touching at 100 yards. We had a fine afternoon of shooting now that the weather has finally cooperated a bit. 8 points

I went to the range with my brother today to shoot some stuff for his birthday. After we had been there about 2 hrs this older gentleman pulls up and gets out with a bag, he stands behind us until we are done shooting and while we are talking he stats walking around picking up brass. Well after a few minutes this asshat says "hey buddy that's my brass your picking up do you work here or something?" To witch the older gentleman said " I am so sorry I didn't see you picking any up so I thought you were going to leave it, you see me and a couple other Vets get together and reload ammo and talk on the weekends and we ran low on brass this weekend". After that I, yes I am the ASSHAT, helped him pick up the rest and thanked him for his service to our country. After I removed my foot from my mouth my brother and I sat there for another hour just talking to this wonderful gentleman, it turned out to be a very nice day, and I know he should have asked before picking up someones brass, but yes I still feel like a total asshat for disrespecting that nice older gentelman.4 points

Man, I am truly sorry to hear that. I was diagnosed with bronchitis and low fever among other things. Got antibiotics and some kicktail cough medicine. It's ok to put salt around the rim of my cough medicine bottle right?4 points

I received this and another Boker this past week. The Sidekick has an OAL of 6.625" and a blade length of 3.25". The blade is 440C steel, the scales are Micarta and it included a Kydex sheath and a strange belt attachment. I have a BladeTech Tech-Lok belt attachment on the way instead. It's a pretty simple knife, made in China of course, and cost less than $50. Not bad for something small to hang on your belt and not get too worked up about if something were to happen to it. When I go to the range, all I want is to be left the hell alone. I don't mind social conversation between strings of fire, and I don't mind answering questions from people who have a genuine desire to learn something, but when someone comes up and pontificates at my expense, I get really grumpy, really fast.4 points

Funny thing is that is how I clear a path at the gun show. I am on crutches and when things start moving a bit slow I tell my wife my polio is acting up. People look around to see some guy, me, on crutches and no doubt want to get as far away from me as possible.3 points

Yeah, looks great. If you would PM me your address. I might have a trigger kit I can send you. Anything to help a kid get outside and into the shooting sports. And props to you for getting your son involved in guns, way too many parents are afraid to introduce their kids to guns.3 points

Here are some I took in San Francisco back in 2010. Neat city. Wouldn't want to live there but I've visited several times now and have enjoyed it. The fog was super heavy this particular visit so I wasn't able to take those iconic pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge that everyone strives to take, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise and I was forced to explore other shots of it instead. The fog and the heavily-filtered dim sunlight really lent a sorrowful tone to the beautiful architecture. For some reason the crisis helpline call-box really stood out to me and told the darker story of the Golden Gate Bridge. I was not previously aware that numerous people travel to San Francisco each year just to take their own lives by jumping from that bridge. The Rangers at the park were telling us that they do sweeps of the parking lot every morning and evening to see if there are any cars that appear to have been abandoned. If so, they begin searching. The impact of the fall rarely mercifully kills anyone who jumps, they said, but rather does tremendous damage to a person's internal organs and leaves them helpless to drown. Frequently the bodies of jumpers are washed by the tides all the way out to the Farallon islands nearly 30 miles away. Anyway, it was kind of surreal walking along on the bridge with so much of it obscured by fog to the point you could only see the water below every so often, with no ability to see if someone might have been out there on the verge of death hoping that a friendly voice or hand might guide them back in off of the rail. :( BTW, that sad looking guy in black in the last photo, walking along staring at his shoes, was with me that day so I wasn't worried about him jumping. He was a co-worker and we were out there on business, but as annoying as that dude was, I might have pushed him if given the chance. :devil:3 points

The more pressing mystery, my dear Watson, is how does one get a holster into a pistol like that? :whistle:3 points

It’s been shot (all S&W’s have), 30 years isn’t really old for an S&W revolver, and it’s been polished; shoot it and enjoy it. Properly cared for you could shoot hundreds of rounds and it wouldn’t look any different. Stainless guns can be returned to near new condition unless there is physical damage.3 points

I bought this one a few weeks back. I was looking for a 9mm. Talk about ADD. It's a 1949 model 70 Winchester standard in 30-06. It came with a Redfield 1 piece mount and rings, and a 3-9 Redfield scope. My very first handload attempt rewarded me with a 1", 100 yard 3 shot group. The trigger is great, and the action glides like it's on ball bearings. Once upon a time, Winchester built world class firearms.2 points

I could let it go if it was directed at me. But man if I saw some dude saying that to someone else I guess I'd need the lawyer on retainer as suggested. Obviously he had problems. Maybe senile, maybe mentally ill, maybe drunk. Why aint there a mental illness that makes people nice.2 points

There's a good chance this guy had Alzheimer's or was in some other way mentally defective. Normal people don't act like that. Sorry you're the guy that got singled out this time, Gordon. :(2 points

Ehh, he could have waited until you left, or just asked you. With ammo prices what they are these days, some people take their brass seriously. Also, I'm instantly suspicious of people who volunteer that their veteran status in a confrontation. Why not use just say friends, or buddies?2 points

I don't need anyone telling me my gun is clear or not clear. I'm perfectly capable of checking the condition of my weapons. Handling a weapon why people are down range is not a blatant sin. Loading one would be but simply touching it is not. I hate range Nazis2 points

My range has a pretty strict policy of No handling weapons when people are down range. Unloaded or not, it's just common courtesy to people who don't know you. I don't handle mine when the range is clear and people are setting targets. There's no reason to. I wouldn't care if wasn an FBI weapons specialist, i don't trust anyone in that respect. To answer the OP, there's never a reason for people being a know it all douche but, there's no reason not to respect others safety at the range and as I said, just cause YOU know theyre not loaded don't mean others do. Btw, I hate those kinda range officers too. Thankfully Charlie run those off.2 points
-
I'd say he was just taking rule number one for gun safety a bit too far. I'd never tell anyone what to do with their weapon, unless they were a danger to those around them, but some people just need to feel special I guess.2 points

This is a pic I took nearly two years ago during a trip out west. We went to Zion National Park in Utah. I hiked up the trail (1500ft. elevation gain) and made it to the top of "Angel's Landing." At the top you can look down Zion Valley for this incredible view. This had been at the top of my bucket list for some time, and for a 61 year old man it was a hike of a lifetime. Shot with a Nikon S8000.2 points

I have a friend that wanted a very simplistic spearpoint modified blade, Something small, about 3 1/2 inches long 1/8 inch thick. Steel is 01 professionally heat-treated, and cryo to -300 degrees. Scales are a very beautiful black and yellowish burl. Mosaic brass pins compliment the design. Sharpened on the Wicked Edge system! Talking about a slicer!!!!!!!! Thanks Grand Torino for the tips, the pics don't have the edge sharpened yet. Jim More to come!1 point

The guys either a monkey dick or senile, maybe both. Good on you for handling it the way you did G. Personally I doubt I would have been able to resist telling him I got 'crippled' during a particularly rowdy bout of loving with his momma. You handled it the right way man, and good on Oma Kraut too for the sage advise. I'm honesty a bit surprised the post didn't end with you having to bail her out of the big house for giving him a bit of a smack :D German women are scary, don't mess with them! :up:1 point

If you need to "recycle" them, I'll take em. :woohoo: I usually use the large primer but have collected enough now to justify loading them too. My problem is I am so anal about reloading, I sort head stamps and am so cheap, my shooting buddy calls me a "brass whoxx". Funny thing though, he likes shooting my ammo.....1 point

Same size table-wise but less space. The first couple of aisles to the left were compressed with more space give to the home & garden thing next door. Went yesterday and it was basically impossible to move around.1 point

Back when I was 6 years old I had an old man that lived next store to us and he grew huge flower beds and people would come from Chicago and buy flowers from him. In his spare time he took me fishing with old cane poles in ponds behind our home. As time went on he taught me how to catch night crawlers at night after a rain so we didn't have to dig worms and we put them in a worm bed that old man and I built. We fed them old bread , egg shells and coffee grounds. As time went on and I turned 7 the old man taught me how to watch the time of the year that the baby painted turtles would hatch and I could catch about 100 or more that didn't get ran over crossing the road we lived on. When I turned 10 the old man figured it was time for me to move up to the bigger and better things and we began building cages all winter, getting ready for Spring. Then I got my training on another turtle. The Snapper which took a lot more teaching. Keeping all my fingers was priority 1. A farmer about 3 miles down the road supplied us with chicken guts when he cleaned chickens and we would put turtle lines out in the ponds. I was having a lot of fun but was not aware that the old man was preparing me to become a business man. Once we got the snapping turtle down to a fine science he began to show me the business end of it all. First thing we did was take a trip to town with my mothers help and made stops at both pet shops in town with the little painted turtles. I was able to sell all I had for 25 cents each which added up to $21.75 for 87 turtles. Then he had my mother take us around to several small grocery stores and we put up a small sign on their out side note boards that I had live snapping turtles for sale and my phoe number. In a few days I began getting calls from folks wanting to come and buy a turtle. We had 27 turtles in cages and I sold 12 of them the first week. Depending on the size, the small ones up to 12 lbs went for $4.00 and the big ones up to 20lbs for $6.00. I kept Turtle lines out to restock. Sent folks home with a big turtle in a burlap bag and a smile. Now comes the night Crawler business. We had a river that ran through my hometown and it was full of carp and bullheads and every weekend during the summer the African Americans would come out of Chicago to fish on Saturday and Sunday. They would buy their bait before leaving Chicago and paying top dollar for night crawlers. I went up there to the river bank with a buddy of mine and took 20 tin cans of night crawlers with 25 crawlers per can. I ask a few guys what they were paying for night crawlers and they said $.99 + tax for 10 worms. I told them I would sell them 25 crawlers for $.70 with a $.10 deposit on the can. If they came back the next week and bought baits from me and had the old can they would get the baits for $.60. In no time I had a really good bait business with one problem. Bait was getting scarce cause it was not raining enough. The old man laughed and said that was the only thing he could not help me with is Mother Nature. Well, that is why I have always said it is great to have friends in the right places. One of my friends parents owned a golf course and they watered in dry spells everyday. I got permission to go crawler hunting on the golf course as long ans I stayed off the greens. in 1 night me and two buddies filled a 5 gallon pail with night crawlers and I put them in the worm beds. Never has a shortage of crawlers again. If it was not for this old man my childhood would have been a lot like most others. When he passed away I knew I had lost my best friend forever. In the peak months of Summer I made more money per week than my father did driving truck over the road. I was able to give my parents money to help with house bills, food and even bought school clothes for my 3 older brothers which were for the most part lazy bums. They might cut a lawn for someone for spending money but to actually work was not happening for them. I just wanted to share what my childhood was all about and I grew up never changing my outlook of being a hard worker. I look back at those days with great memories. Mostly I remember my old Friend Mr Gueson.1 point
