  3. Ouch, that's got to smart a bit.  Seems like more of a PMCS issue than a soft holster issue though.  That indentation looks to be old, should of been replaced some time ago.

  7. I would love it if we could own new manufacture machine guns both US manufacture and imported. I don't anticipate nor expect them to be removed from NFA status, but at least make them available without an exorbitant price tag. However, those that do own the registered machine guns now have so much invested in them, that they would fight any legislation to make new ones available which would make theirs near worthless. I know there would be many more tax stamps applied for if they were legal.

  13. I don’t let the term assault rifle bother me; that’s what it is. The fact that because it’s not a machine gun somehow makes it less deadly is ridiculous. If anything semi-auto fire will results in more lethal hits. It won’t make any difference to the people that worry about stuff like that. A shooter at elevation above a target rich environment with a scoped heavy caliber bolt action hunting rifle would rack up a bigger body count than an AR or AK shooter. Of course those folks would have hunting rifles banned if they thought they could get it done.

  14. I was taught to fish at age 6 by an old neighbor that was 81 years old and we fished in an old Flag stone pit behind our home. We had cane poles and old wine bottle corks for floats and dug our own worms. I can remember those days like they were yesterday. That old man and I fished together till he passed away at age 91. He taught me many things over those ten years. He taught me how to catch snapping turtles, how to catch the newly hatched baby painted turtles before they got killed on the road. He taught me how to get night crawlers at night after a rain. If  ya'll are wonder about my father at that time, he was a road driver for trucking company and that was long before super highways so he was gone a lot. I spent many a day fishing with my father after he retired.  I will tell you in another post how I became and young businessman from what that old man taught me.........................

  16. Peace enjoy the time with your kids, they will never forget those times. I took my kids and have taken 2 of my 3 grandkids as the youngest just turned 4. Don't put so much importance on the equipment, not to say you don't need good stuff. I have had my share of bass boats, jon boats and now I have a fishing pontoon and a kayak. Put time on the water with as many different fisherman you can. It is similar to playing golf, you will never get to be a good golfer without playing with guys that are better at it than you. First in importance is having fun, especially when taking the kids. Next is trying to learn more about where you fish or the species you fish for. I quit bass fishing when my kids started fishing as some days bass are hard to catch and I started panfishing with ultralight tackle and it is my go to tackle most of the time.

  17. Has much less to do with the relative hardness of the holster as it does the worn slap out-ness of the holster and lazy/cheapness of it's owner for either not recognizing the problem, fixing it, or both.

  19. The Saker 7.62 with a 5.56 end cap is the best 5.56 suppressor on the market from the numbers I have seen. Depending on the gun I have seen numbers that are in 22lr territory. Numbers in the low 120's are common and that is amazing for a 5.56 silencer. I wish my can were that quiet. You can also use it on everything that is .308 caliber and smaller, even the magnum calibers. Also consider this, you are more likely to sell your home than the silencer you buy so you may as well buy the best and not squabble over a small amount.

  20. My grandmother put two rounds of .32 long from a S&W revolver(her purse gun and the only one she ever bothered carrying) in a guy attempting to rob the family bar back in the 80s. He apparently died before he got back to his car in the parking lot. The human body generally has an adverse reaction to new holes. Not saying that he couldn't carry something better or more modern, but having a firearm you're comfortable carrying and using if need be is better than leaving one you don't like at home in a drawer. Grandpa was THP so he carried a .357 on his hip and a .38 on his ankle but I never heard of him using either, he much prefered a shotgun. He had one for his cruiser and one for the family LTD.   I have no clue how long the guy actually lived after being hit as I was 3 at the time, but a picture of his body laying dead in the parking lot was posted behind the bar until my grandmother passed away many years later.

You were in the military...you know what I'm talking about (anyone see the HBO series "Generation Kill"?).  Good natured, equal opportunity cracking, with a bunch of adults not looking to be "offended." I can't think of one that wouldn't run to a gunfight to save the other.

  29. My point was that the people that believe you shouldn’t have an “assault Rifle” aren’t going to change their mind no matter what “name” you put on it. I think it sounds silly to make an argument that an AR-15 is somehow less deadly than an M-16; it’s an uninformed stance. Yes, my .223 AR is deadly; my .308 AR is even more deadly than an M-16 in the hands of a skilled marksman. But I have a right to have them. I don’t hunt either and I don’t want to have to pretend I do.

  33. I'm pleased with the results! Wish I had taken some before pictures, I've seen nicer weapons thrown away. Here are a couple of pics, I'll report back when I've fired and cleaned it. To make this more of a project I was unable to get the breech plug out and in the process of trying (heating, freezing, penetrating oil, and beating I boogered up the threading for the nipple. I was able to save it with a tap forced into a 6mm nutdriver, crude but I got the threads straightened out. So this thing certainly became a project, my total cost in it is $117. Not horrible but I'm sure that I could have done better had I shopped around a little more.

  35.   Then assuming you have a scope that will hold zero, the Timney trigger is the way to go.  It will make a huge difference for less and $150.  Keep your eyes open (ebay) for a good stock.  You may be able to salvage the one you have.  I am not sure how well they can be bedded, but you can do a skim bedding job for the cost of some JB Weld.

  36. I was camping in the tetons, near Jackson hole back in 2001 I believe. Near a boy scout camp, one of the boys wandered away from camp and got lost. We were in the vicinity and saw helicopters buzzing over, turns out Harrison Ford was in his private helicopter flying over head and found the boy. Was kinda neat.

  38. if talking bigger stuff a Makarov is still one of my favorites.   Its half again as big as the pocket guns, but its gentle and super accurate.  Just look for the 380 versions... the 9x18 you either make your own or have to search high and low for ammo.

  42. I finally finished this last weekend. I took the largest deep cycle battery I could find, used a combo smart charger/ inverter (it auto switches on a power outage), a dual element 12v LED light, terminal strip and a multi socket cigarette adaptor for car chargers. I have a different battery backup system that uses (2) 6 volt batteries but It has to be unhooked from the chargers and hooked up to the inverter and I wanted something a little easier for my wife to use. I travel regionally and it might be a few hours before I get home if there is a power issue. This will give my wife light, allow her to power up our big buddy heaters and get the wireless back up and running. It will also run the small TV for a while if needed. This won't be a big help during the summer but at least she can have a fan and light until I get home to fire up the generator. Only thing I would change is getting a slightly nicer hand truck. It is a little hard to move around Mark

So here I am thinking you borrowed the Gen Lee for the vid, but low and behold you pull along side me on 41A going into gate4 this morning.  Just had to look to see who was driving and even got to see your temp tags, had me cracking up; other drivers probably thought I was nuts.  Would of waved to say hi, but I didn't want you to think I was a Gen Lee fanboy.
