1. I feel weird putting all of this online but I just wanted to share some good news with all of you and hopefully it offers some encouragement to someone else reading it. I was talking to daddy last night about coming to visit this weekend and the opportunity arose to ask about his salvation and THANK GOD he gave me the courage to just come out and ask him if he knew the Lord. He told me the date he was saved, the location and the preacher. Man that was good to hear and I feel like a tree trunk has been lifted off of my chest and heart. I still plan to go home this weekend so we will get to continue the conversation. He starts chemo today so he has a rough road ahead but in the grand scheme of things I hope he can remember where he is going after death regardless of the present outcome.   I won't drag this thread out any longer but one last time I just wanted to thank all of you guys for your support and prayers. It's really cool and not the norm to have a group of guys like this on an online forum.

 3. I approached gj about making a sheath for my Ontario NS7 (which I got from another TGOer  ) and just got it back today. I am so pleased with the quality of the sheath, the color and the fact it matches my camping/hunting rig. It really completes the rig as it matches both the holster, belt and grips. The pics don't do it justice and I'm sure gj has some that showcase his excellent craftsmanship. Yea I'm jazzed about it...got it back just in time to go horse camping with a buddy. http:// http:// http:// ">http://

 4. He is a great looking dog. BTW, because your dog has rear dew claws it would be easy to narrow down a few breeds it might have in it, if it matters to you. And here is a picture of our Gus, well, being Gus. That is a recent development, in the last month or so, but now he does it all the time. I guess it feels good to sit like a human.

 8. There's a little more to it than that, especially if you're getting it approved by BATFE for export. If they stick to a high quality / low volume business model, I predict they'll sell all they make.

 9. So my wife flops down next to me says "My (Her) girlfriend just text me and said she has extra tickets to Jack White tomorrow night, do you want to go?". CHAN-CHING! I smiled at her and said" you know I don't like going to concerts, why don't you go with her?" She replies, " but I don't want you to have to sit at home alone". I just smiled and said" I'm sure I can find something to do, ya'll go and have fun, don't worry about me". Count me in unless something gets screwed up at work.

 15. Why not make a minor change and chamber it in 7.62x39? Seems it would be a lot cheaper to operate but then again anyone who can afford a $5K gun can probably afford to shoot it as well.   They talk about SBRing an imported pistol but unless there are enough US parts you cannot legally convert it into a rifle whose configuration is banned from import.

 30. My land had a TVA powerline going through it so trees are a premium, I planted quite a few but many just didn't take for one reason or another.  Here are a few things I learned:   Select a good site, enough sun/shade and drainage depending on tree Test your soil and check what the tree requires before planting like PH and nutrients etc. Buy your trees from someone that grows them here in TN, I use a guy out in Joelton, good prices and all home grown. Buy enough trees, some need pollinators others will self pollinate. Plant in early winter, while tree is dormant. Use mulch around the base to hold moisture but don't cover the bark. Put a cage around the tree until tall enough, deer ate all the leaves off my apple trees. Stake the tree down, they need a bit of support until they take root, you can use the cage if cage is well supported. Fertilize when advised, test soil yearly to make sure it still has what the tree needs. Use those watering bags that water for an extended period of time until tree matures and takes root. Like I said, some of mine did not make it due to failure of me to follow these steps.  And since I don't get to my land all the time, it took a year before I found out the tree did not make it.  I had a nice 10'-15' apple tree already there, but the power company, (not TVA) cut it down when they ran a new line along the road.  They replaced it with a new one but that one is not looking good.  An other think you may look into are Black and Blue Berry bushes, I planted those as well and some are doing good.

 34. I doubt it's a "we don't want the work" price. What you're asking for is several hours of work per piece. Most machine shops charge $75-$100/hr. Getting a 4ft piece of pipe straight within a few thousandths is no small task either. So if you need more than 3, yes, you're well past a new Kimber.

 35. Cable TV from all providers has gotten out of hand.  Same thing goes for any other business or service if they're listening....PEOPLE CANNOT HANDLE 10-15% OR MORE RATE INCREASES ON A YEARLY BASIS!  I really don't know where they get off or what lala land they're living in but it's ridiculous.   I must have TV, internet and phone and am tired of having to call and dicker with them.

 37. I don't think you will find a clear answer.  The most important issue in any self-defense situation is one of reasonableness.  The real question is: if you are acting in reasonable fear of death or significant bodily injury.  If having training plays a role in that is subjective.  More importantly, you have to think about each element of the italicized statement above.     Is your fear reasonable?  Could the person or persons you act against actually do you harm?  Have they made statements or committed acts demonstrating intent to harm?  Is your fear imminent?  As in now; not next week or tomorrow.  NOW.  If you have the ability to restrain someone without hurting them I think training could definitely come into play.  It is probably one of a number of factors such as your attacker's build, size, strength, any disparity of force issues (two against one perhaps) that could come into play.  I don't believe there is a different legal standard for a "trained" person v/s an "untrained" person.  If however, your level of training plays a role in shaping how "reasonable" or "unreasonable" your fears are, I think it could come into play.  The bigger question is usually, whether you acted in reasonable fear of death or significant bodily injury and whether you did anything to wrongfully provoke the attack yourself.

 39. I'd like to see highlighted benefactor members with special skill sets, maybe every so often? Grand Torino is the first one that comes to mind. Maybe do a video on his knife making process. If he's ok with that, of course. Or Dolomite and one of the 10,000 ideas for cool stuff I see him post about. Just a thought. We have some very talented folks that are a part of this site, it'd be cool to highlight that I think.

 41. Coming right up. I hope you guys are able to have a good open conversation with a satisfying resolution for you both. Spiritual matters are tough to talk about sometimes but even when to loved ones disagree it's almost always worth the talk at least. Also maintain your faith in a positive outcome, like Hipower said, things aren't always as bad as they seem and there is still hope.

 42. Prayers sent.   I lost my father not knowing where he stood with God. That was almost 11 years ago, and my heart aches over it to this day. I wish I'd have been able to talk to him about his faith before he left this world, but I myself was young in my salvation and the words just never came. I urge you to do everything you can to have that talk with your dad. Pray hard about it, go see your dad, and then let the Spirit guide you with the rest.   May God bless, comfort and strengthen you, your dad, and your family. In Jesus name, Amen.

 43. Prayers being sent for you and your dad and your family. Is there someone in you family that can tell you if he has been baptized? Learning that he was could give you some satisfaction knowing he does have some type of religious beliefs. Just a thought.

 45. There is no "right" answer to "what 1911 should I get".  Set a budget and stick with it.  If you've never owned one....get a Rock Island, take the $200 you saved, buy a bunch of ammo and shoot the hell out of it.  If you like it and want something prettier, because that's all the extra money will get you, then save your money and move on up.
