A virile, middle-aged Italian gentleman named Guido was relaxing at his favorite bar in Rome when he managed to attract a spectacular young blond woman. Things progressed to the point where he invited her back to his apartment and, after some small talk, they retired to his bedroom where he rattled her senseless. After a pleasant interlude he asked with a smile, "So, you finish?" She paused for a second, frowned, and replied, "No." Surprised, Guido reached for her and the rattling resumed. This time she thrashed about wildly and there were screams of passion. The sex finally ends and, again, Guido smiles and asks, "You finish?" Again, after a short pause, she returns his smile, cuddles closer to him and softly says, "No." Stunned, but damned if he was going to leave this woman unsatisfied. Guido reaches for the woman yet again. Using the last of his strength, he barely manages it, but they end together screaming, bucking, clawing and ripping the bed sheets. Exhausted, Guido falls onto his back, gasping. Barely able to turn his head, he looks into her eyes, smiles proudly and asked again, "You finish?" Barely able to speak, the beautiful blond whispers in his ear .......... "No, I'm Norwegian."8 points

I finally got a chance to dial in my percussion rifle. I had to do a little smithy work on the rear Wiliams Aperture sight as the previous owner had it mounted about a 1/2 inch to low. I remounted it by drill and tapping new holes in the plate. I got everything ready and loaded up the truck tp head to the range. I started my sight in at 50 yds and after 3 shots I was pretty much centered on the bull. I shot a three shot group of about 1/2 inch to confirm the sight in. A friend had stuck ip a ram at 75 yds and a 7 inch round plate at 112 yds. I held just on top of the back of the ram and hit it just above the shoulder. My buddy asked how many clicks of up I had given it and I told him I just used hold over. He then told me he was using 15 clicks of up to go from 50-->75 yds. I gave the Williams 15 clicks of up and laid on dead center. I put the first one dead center but right at the bottom on his belly. The second one was a 1/2 inch right of it. I gave it 3 clicks of up and bang...dead center. So I asked my buddy how many clicks he uses to get to 112 yds. Answer was 35 clicks of up. So, now I dial in the 35 clicks and fire a round. It's low. Just under it. I fire another one which just hits the the base at 4 o'clock. Im thinking Im low so I give it four clicks of up. It hits 1/2 inch south of center. I reload and fire another one. It touches high, on the edge, at 1 o'clock. Hmmm, let's try that again. Now it's way high off the target. High Right. I say to my bud, something must be loose somewhere and I hope it's my my screw. He asked if I had cleaned it. I told him I performed my usual ritual of running a damp patch down the barrel between each shot. He said he normally runs a brush down his after 5 rounds and the reason for it is the dirt that accumulates during firing and increases the pressure. Higher pressure makes the bullet running hotter and hit higher. I ran a brush through it then reloaded and bang! Low center mass. I fired 2 more. Ding, Ding. Lesson learned! I thought I'd pass on this learning experience with BP. Pics: looks like a beater but she will shoot lights out. DaveS. I plan to start again on dialing in the Flintlock next week. About my setup. My rifle is home (read custom) built years ago using a Douglas .45 Cal barrel. A double set trigger that will go off if you don;t keep your finger off the it. It has a Williams Aperture Rear Sight that's windage and elevation adjustable. A front Globe Sight with inserts that was soldiered on. Since it's a percussion I use Triple 7, FFG. 35 gr. for a target load. Blue Stripped pillow ticking works for a patch cut to 3/4 inch square. Patches are wet in water then the excess water is pinched out. I also use an aluminum arrow with a funnel on top as a drop tube to minimize powder on the sides if the barrel. Then I use a rubber mallet to tap around the breech area to ensure the powder gets into the channel. I still have to drill and fit the ramrod knurls on it.3 points

Silver is cheap right now. I'd buy some junk silver (pre-1964 quarters, dimes, half dollars). Silver is actually a waning resource. Love it at these levels.......3 points

I posted a few weeks ago regarding the release of the FNS-9 Compact. After owning a FNS-9 full size for several years, i knew i would have to give this a try. I got several PM's and text messages inquiring about the gun so i have reluctantly written this post. *Please note, i am not a writer or a photographer. I don't review guns. I just take them to the range and shoot. What i shoot (relatively) well, i carry.* Out of the box: Gun shipped with a nice hard-shell case. You get a total of three mags. One 12 round magazine with a flat base plate (pictured). One 12 round magazine with a pinky extension. Also included, one 17 rounds magazine AND the sleeve to give you the grip of a duty size weapon. Size Comparison: Below, you will see a photo of the compact compared to the full size. Considering the full size FNS is not a "main stream" firearm, i have pictured the majority of the size comparison with my daily carry--a Glock 30 SF. At the range: I put roughly 300 rounds through the gun today. I did not have any FTF's. However, the slide did fail to lock back after the 2nd full magazine. I'm chalking this up to standard break-in. 100 rounds of WWB 115gr FMJ. 50 rounds of Remington UMC 115gr FMJ 50 rounds of Hyrda-shok 135gr JHP 50 rounds of Winchester Silvertip 1115gr JHP 25 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense 115gr FTX ~25 rounds of loose FMJ For me, the gun shot well. After shooting it next to my "seasoned" full size, the trigger still needs some more rounds to be broken in. Reset was good but not as positive as a typical glock. I will say--the texture of the grip provides a very secure grip. After my range session, the palm of my hand was somewhat aggravated. This is much better than a slick grip but i think i will get some rubber talon grips. Please excuse my "flyer" rounds. I have no doubt this gun can out-shoot me. However, i didn't shoot off a bench or pistol rest. To me, this is a defensive pistol and it needs to be reliable and provide realistic accuracy. Conclusion/Bias: I have to admit, I'm a Glock guy but i'm still in denial. If i didn't own a FNS, i would be asking "what does this do that a Glock 26 can't." For me, the grip angle is much better. Capacity is two rounds better. Reliability is equal at this point but i think we must note; the glock is proven--the FNS has been on the market for less than 30 days. Personally, i will add this to the carry rotation when i can get a quality holster. But--up to this point, the FNS' biggest failure has been attracting aftermarket support. I hope this changes with the introduction of the compact. I think it a great gun for guys that can't fall in love with the grip angle of a Glock 26 and don't like the grip safety on the XD. And, for what its worth--i think it looks much better than both! --Ben2 points

2A coatings did up my wife's P238 slide & grips. Looks pretty snazzy, but I think it still needs a pink trigger to be complete. Might get around to taking it apart between classes in the spring. Thanks man2 points

I like the idea of having multiple organizations so that people can pick and choose where their priorities align. With only one org to fall in on, it's their way or the highway. Also, having another org that comes from the grassroots like TGO represents, can help keep the other orgs from resting on their laurels. Kind of like how GOA and SAF acting on an issue can force the NRA to move faster than they wanted, lest they be accused of not acting hard enough.2 points

Ron, it sounds like you've made up your mind. Honestly as far as you and your trust are concerned, I really don't care. Seriously. The Coyote trust might be 100% correct for a Tennessee resident and there might be no difference at all between it and what a Tennessee lawyer specializing in NFA trusts could put together for you. Awesome. What I do care about is the people who will come along behind you on TGO, read this thread, and potentially follow along in your footsteps and end up with something that might not protect them from the BATFE and the State of Tennessee. Because as I and others have tried to point out, somewhat unsuccessfully it would seem, is that sometimes the little bit more you will pay for a custom-tailored solution is worth exponentially more in the long run. Ron, you could in all honesty go order all of the parts you needs to build a short barrel AR-15 right now, assemble it, never file a Form 4 and roll the dice. That's even cheaper than doing a mail-order trust! It's illegal as can be, but you can still do it. So long as no one ever sees it and you never talk about it on the Internet, you might just get away without having to pay for a trust or a tax stamp and can admire the frugality of it all in silent secrecy. After all, anyone can order sub 16" barrels all day long and you don't even have to transfer them through an FFL. They aren't serialized. The only thing stopping you or anyone else from doing that is fear of incarceration. But the moment the existence of that unlicensed NFA firearm is revealed to anyone else, voluntarily or otherwise, the gig will be up and you will be charged with felony possession of a restricted firearm. And that'll be the end of that. Which is precisely what could happen to you if the trust you use isn't completely legitimate in Tennessee. So, do whatever you want, Ron. But anyone else who reads this thread... Caveat Emptor. There are many famous examples of just how little the BATFE plays around about this stuff.2 points

Am I the only one who immediately thinks of John Malcovich in the movie "Red"? He carries around this stuffed animal and everyone looks at him like he's crazy then towards the end he pulls a Milkor MGL 6-shot 40mm grenade launcher out of it. He also uses a S&W 500 throughout most of the movie.2 points

You can always tell they are having fun by how fast the shots usually start coming out. Usually on the third or so shot. Bang.....................................Bang.............Bang......Bang..Bang.Bang.Bang.Bangangangangang. ....Then they turn around really fast and sweep everyone in the range. :pleased:2 points

Every man has a wife filter built into the auditory system that's activated by the ingestion of wedding cake, followed by champagne. For Appalachian men, beer or shine is the catalyst. Gunfire has been known to cause the wife filter to clog up, resulting in significant hearing loss for casual marital conversation. It's further aggravated by the blow of a frying pan or other heavy object to the head. 2 points

I would try just swapping in the hammer. Most times if anything needs to be fitted it is the thumb safety because of how the hammer interacts with the sear and the thumb safety locks the sear in place. Make sure you have plenty of dummy round to check to make sure the hammer does not follow the slide. And NEVER drop the slide on an empty chamber or the sear will be ruined.2 points

ATV tires are pretty easy since they have such a big soft sidewall. Buy yourself some tire spoons. You can get a good set for $30 and they are well worth the money. I started changing my own tires on my motorcycles years ago, had a shop that would do it for $15 a wheel off the bike, they doubled their prices and I bought a set of spoons for $30 and have been doing it myself every since. I buy most of my tires online, seems that the prices fluctuate often so I check all the retailers that I normally do business with and Amazon. As far as breaking the bead I have a couple of things I've rednecked up that work well. The best is a scissor type car jack. I prop the wheel up on some 2x4 scraps under the bumper of my truck, set the jack on the edge of the tire right at the rim and extend the jack, I chuck it into my cordless drill to make it faster. Don't even try to mount tires that aren't warm, you can set them out on a sunny day, lay them on top of a warm engine and shut the hood for about 20 minutes, I've even put them in the oven at 180 degrees for 10 minutes. Once you start to mount them up use lots of lube, I use dish soap. I have a tradition of throwing the old tire as far away from my work area as possible because it really sucks to not be paying attention and put your old tire back on. It will be a pain in the butt the first couple of times that you do it but once you get it figured out it's a piece of cake.2 points

To be clear, I was not suggesting that TFA be our "sister org". I'm all for supporting them when it makes sense and think our members should be members of as many different pro-2A organizations as possible. But I would like to see TGO flex it's own muscle. Not for vanity's sake but because there need to be multiple voices saying the same things to our elected representatives. The same way that it's good that the NRA isn't the only voice in D.C. representing us (a la Gun Owners of America, NFA Freedom Alliance, Jews For the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, etc.). If all you ever hear as a politician is one voice, in a way it doesn't matter how loud that voice is. But if you're hearing several voices in varying degrees of "loudness" saying the same things, the message has a bit more impact. It's just too easy for them to dismiss one group as a bunch of fringe loons. It's harder to dismiss several groups of loons. ;)2 points

Slowly but surely got a couple more done. 1st one, some of you may have seen in the Christmas thread because I built it for my wife. Took it out to the range Saturday and tested it out. Now gotta figure out what scope she's going to want. I reckon I'll pick out one I like and if she don't like it, I'll just HAVE to put it on one my others that need a scope  It's an Anderson lower, PSA parts kit, Magpul Mbus flip ups, MOE grip, trigger guard, and stock, Radical Firearms carbine upper with a YHM Phantom FH. She's pretty happy with it, so that makes me happy. Now for the bad part, I have a task ahead of me. She wants me to do a FDE and pink camo break up design on it. I'm gonna practice some designs on some scrap before I do it on her rifle. She is dead set on this pattern so I'll do it. After all, it is hers and I don't wanna tell her "Don't do that, do this, etc." 2nd is another one for me (unless she says she wants it). Spikes Punisher lower with PSA parts kit, MOE stock and grip, and MBUS rear flip up sight. This is the first time I've tried a PTAC upper. It's the mid-length gas system, all of my others are carbine gas length so can't wait to see the difference. I'm actually impressed with it as far as quality to the eye is concerned. I had myself all pumped up to be disappointed because of their reputation by some. I'll give it a try and since I have several others, if I'm not impressed then I'll just shoot it till it needs a new barrel. This one will be painted in some camo form soon. I'll post it up in my camo paint job thread. I've got two more lowers completed and waiting for uppers not counting the pistol lower that's done as well. I really wanna finish the pistol next, but we'll see how bad she wants a scope.1 point

I can tell you that shooting from an AR from a truck had no ringing effect that I noticed and I went through a few mags worth. It doesn't mean that no damage is occurring though, I am sure your ears still get the full effect. I tried to keep my Peltors on as much as possible but sometimes I was just not able to. The only time I remember actually getting ringing is when mortars or other like projectiles exploded near enough to feel the concussion. But it went away quickly enough and according to VA nothing permanent happened :ugh:1 point

MORGAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) – As of this week, anyone with a valid carry permit is allowed to have a gun in the Morgan County Courthouse. The county executive is calling the plan a win for the community, but not everyone agrees. http://wkrn.com/2015/01/25/new-security-measures-in-morgan-county-allow-guns-inside-courthouse/1 point

That's exactly why I chose my .270, its flat shooting and I can take it hunting in any state. Though most of my shots are 100 yards or less, its nice to know that I can reach out further with little hold over. I know what you mean, but many of these magnums are not really that flat shooting so it defeats the purpose.1 point
