I've learned to be VERY selective about who I discuss firearms with. There are just too many misconceptions that I don't want to waste my time trying to correct with someone who doesn't want to learn.5 points

I just bought 25 acres and I really love this place!! At first my daughter and her husband were going to move here but they have changed their mind, so now I live here alone! I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis but I am determined!!! I desperately need a game plan!!! I paid cash for farm and new 4 wheel drive toyota fj but what should I do first- goats, chickens, orchard, fruit trees, I need a lot but I choose to buy without going in debt - I am debt free now! Any advice would be appreciated! The firearms and ammo is covered - and coyotes are an issue! Thanks for any advice!!!2 points

Dunno about y'all, but every time I'm in a heated firefight, I find that I can't keep up with how many rounds I've fired, so the lock back on empty almost always comes as a surprise. So for that short time until I can pop in the next mag, I'm holding an empty chambered club. Now the Maklarbak magazine can change all that. It locks back with one round still left in mag, so you can hit the bolt release putting the last round in battery before you grab that next magazine. Seems a worthy addition to all of us high speed low drag operators. http://www.maklarbak-usa.com/ - OS2 points

Before I start, Ive been rather stressed lately, and just need a place to vent after the idiocy I had to deal with last night at work. So I was showing my new shotgun to my brother in law whom I work with. Its an 18.5" cylinder bore Mossberg 500. Another guy we work with wandered up while were talking and starts giving unsolicited advice. First I said I still needed to drill and tap and add the front bead, which he informs me is stupid because you don't need to aim a shotgun, just point and shoot. I mention that a shot spread is gonna be very small at short distance, and that the myth of the street sweeper patterns isn't really true. He then mentions my pet peeve. He said a pump shotgun is his favorite for home defense because the sound of the pump racking will cause an attacker to run in fear. Why do people claim this? All you do when you rack the gun is slow yourself down and identify your location. He just wouldn't accept the fact that racking a shotgun wouldn't immediately cause any human on earth to faint or run in fear. Well, rant over. What myths have you heard about firearms and shooting that really grind you?2 points

May I just ask why it is even allowed for Ron to be posting these vile and disgusting links? When I signed up for my membership I was given a list of how to conduct myself of this forum. This man has CLEARLY violated most of the things NOT to do. This is beyond ignorant, hateful and just plain stupid. Clearly anything he posts is just meant to instigate and provoke people. The Bronco forum that I am a member of if because we all love our Broncos, we talk about other things like this site. But I have NEVER seen someone conduct himself in a manner like this man. Clearly they do not have curfews at the home and Matlock reruns aren't on. I'm sorry Ron is bored and has nothing better to do, but posting videos and links like he is doing should not be allowed. He's making a mockery of not only himself, but this forum as well.2 points

I wouldn't carry any gun without getting very comfortable on the range with it first and knowing the gun. Especially something really small like a .380. I swore that I'd never own a Taurus but I relented and bought a TCP and love it. That said mine did not function well out of the box, it took a lot of polishing and tweaking to get it to run right. When I got it it was for all practical purposes a single shot, if you got anything else out of it you were just lucky. Carry a single shot .380? No thanks.2 points

We didn't need speed sensors in the old Vietnam-era deuce-and-a-halves. Those trucks topped out at about 57 mph. All drives were long and boring.2 points

Amazing how a little walk in the other guy's shoes can change one's perspective. Even if it's only a 10 second walk. Kudos to the activist guy for agreeing to the training and even more so having the news crew along. ...and holy crap that "BG" was big!2 points

I had an Undercover Flex on my last truck. It was great. You can't really fold it up and put a 4wheeler in it. But it has two knobs that loosen it from the frame and you can pull the whole thing off. Takes about 2 minutes. Very nice cover.2 points

1) Have you ever smoked marijuana? It doesn't make you want to murder anyone. It is impossible to fathom a marijuana influenced murder. That is a laughable concept. The only thing I've ever murdered was a pizza while high on marijuana. 2) I do not actively smoke marijuana. So, you can ride with me all you want. I am a fan of pursuing natural highs through nature.2 points

This morning in Oak Ridge. We are having a severe snow storm in East TN. I managed to brave the cold(31) and storm long enough to get this picture. By all means, don't go outside. Due to the amount of snow we have received it has been difficult to get an accurate measurement. I am afraid I won't be able to attend work today. #EastTNBlizzard Urgent request for sherpa's, dog sleds, Siberian Huskys, Alaskan Malamutes, and Alaskan Huskys #EastTNBlizzard2 points

Let's see, my personal "favorites" include but certainly are not limited too: 1.Anything with a scope on it being called a sniper rifle. 2. Being asked which rifles are "automatic". 3. "The AR 15 fires a round so powerful it has no legitimate sporting use." 4. "The AK47 fires a round so powerful it has no legitimate sporting use." 5. Any comparison of the 7.62x39 to the 5.56x45 beyond both being small intermediate cartridges. 6. Pretty much any sheepdog reference. People aren't dogs. Not everyone who chooses not to carry is a "sheep". 7. That someone's nephews friends father had a smatter of LE or military experience which automatically making them an authority on all things firearms. 8.High round count used Glocks are worth more than new ones because they have extra magazines and are proven reliable.2 points

So your answer would be yes? While I would shoot to stop any intruder in my house, I would still prefer that they ran away screaming like a little girl. There's less paperwork.2 points

Because if they have broken into my house uninvited, gotten past the pit bull, and caused me to fear for my life they have voided their right to breathe.2 points

If my grandson lived with me, then yes, if it so happens that an American Pit-Bull Terrier is what I decide upon that is what I will get him. One of the reason there are so many dogs in pounds is people "gift" animals without looking at the long term. Gift or punishment, depends wether the actual caretakers keep the dog. I don't think I've read anywhere that responsible dominant breed owners don't understand the responsibility of owning these dogs. I've had several types of dogs, a few rescued from pounds, some from friends who were at their wits end concerning their newest acquisition. Right now a dog must be able to do 12 mile trails or less, not shed so much and jog 2 to 4 miles with the family. When I get older I'll probably settle for the little dogs my in-laws have that I doggy-sit often. I would never let them doggy sit my buddy because I don't think they are responsible enough. Personally the two legged animals are what I really fear to have around my grandson. (Don't have any yet - hopefully not till my oldest finishes college or tech school.)1 point

Recoil of the little Kahr is surprisingly low even with +p defensive stuff. Mine also has a very long throat and will run 147grn stuff just as smooth as anything else. Easy answer is can YOU shoot one handed with it? I say yes, with practice.1 point

It's amazing now easy it is to travel from country to country in Europe without being checked too thoroughly. I'm there are cells all over that part of the world armed and waiting for the go ahead for stuff like this. I'm sure they will target gun free cities if and when they attack here. I often look around at the businesses and restaurants I frequent and wonder what kind of response armed citizens would have to attacks like that.1 point

Those two are the biggest. Always said the only sound you will hear on my shotgun is the safety being pushed off. No racking of the slide here.1 point

Been following this thread and biting my tongue about some of the very ignorant comments about pit bulls, but at this point I guess I'll just throw this out there: most of you are acting like a bunch of liberal sissies that take what the media throws out there and it's suddenly the truth. Hypocrites. Dogs are animals. Some are more aggressive than others. Training goes a long way in their tendencies but it can't eliminate all bad behavior. There are probably as many responsible pit bull owners in this country as there are responsible gun owners. Accidents still happen to those responsible owners (both sets of them). You want to legislate my pit bull away from me? You can have her when you're heading over to pick up my firearms too. None of my family is leaving with any badge because you folks don't feel like I'm a responsible owner. You still want to say that we need breed legislation? I say we need procreation legislation, suddenly I don't think that some of your kids are safe to be in society because I heard on the news that Little Johnny mooned a shop owner on Main St. Where's the slippery slope end folks? I'd challenge all of you who don't like pit bulls for whatever reason to go volunteer at a shelter and get to know a few. You might just be surprised at how good the majority of them are. As far as the comment about them being gassed away, may God have mercy on your heart, Sir. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
