Let this be a lesson to everyone...quit worrying about Obama and the federal government! The local and state goobers have far more influence over your daily lives. Pay attention to them and what they are up to.3 points

Good deal, one past episode shouldn't exclude someone who is mentally healthy. The more seriously mentally ill may be controlled by medicine and phychaitric care but usually are never completly cured, I believe anyone is capable of having an emotional breakdown if certain bad things happen in their life, they shouldn't be treated like a criminal for the rest of their life.3 points

A federal appeals court in Cincinnati deemed a law unconstitutional that kept a Michigan man who was committed to a mental institution from owning a gun. The three-judge panel of the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that a federal ban on gun ownership for those who have been committed to a mental institution violated the Second Amendment rights of 73-year-old Clifford Charles Tyler. Tyler attempted to buy a gun and was denied on the grounds that he had been committed to a mental institution in 1986 after suffering emotional problems stemming from a divorce. He was only in there for a month. Tyler’s lawyer, Lucas McCarthy, hopes that the ruling would have a “significant impact on the jurisprudence in the area of gun rights.†The decision is the first by a federal appeals court to rule a federal gun law is unconstitutional since 2008. The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in D.C. vs. Heller struck down the Washington, D.C. ban on firearms ownership. Federal law bans gun ownership for convicted felons, people under 18, illegal immigrants, drug addicts and those ordered by a court to a mental institution. The law also syas that people must have a chance to prove that their disqualifying disabilities have ended in order to possess a firearm legally. Since 2008, states have been able to get federal grants to set up “relief from disabilities program,†which was defunded in 1992. Michigan has not set one up, which left Tyler without a way to prove that his so-called “disability†should no longer apply. “The government’s interest in keeping firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill is not sufficiently related to depriving the mentally healthy, who had a distant episode of commitment, of their constitutional rights,†wrote Judge Danny Boggs, an appointee of President Ronald Reagan, for the panel. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/12/19/us-appeals-court-deems-gun-law-unconstitutional/2 points

I was looking for a "tactical" type 9MM gun for my collection since I didnt own one and I looked and handled lots of them before landing on a CZ, Quite possibly the best 9MM handgun I ever shot,it holds 20 rounds, its got a 4# trigger in SA mode and actually hits the bulleyes with my eyes closed  I cant say enough good things about the P09. Its built like a tank,I cant think of any polymer gun I have ever felt that was this beefy ,the slide is super thick and the frame is ultra tough. I promise if you never tried a CZ you should i know you'll own one after giving one a run for its money..best of all it was 500 bucks OTD 2 points

I'd rather they do the yearly check on the TN HCP because the background at the gun dealer is just a PITA and a hassle to me. So let them up the permit fee if I don't have to deal with that BS anymore! Plus, maybe it would cut down on those stupid denials people keep getting that always get overturned in a few hours or a day. I wholeheartedly think they do that to try to deter people from buying a gun because folks with no felonies or domestic violence get denied all the time and then they overturn it on a faxed in appeal and there just isn't any reason for that to be happening.2 points

I am looking at building a ar pistol. I am wanting a 10.5 barrel. I have read the laws and understand as much as I can. This will be a dedicated pistol as long as I own it. I understand the buffer tube vs stock I think. Does this require a tax stamp? If it does not, what could I do to make it dedicated. If this one of those really stupid question, just delete and I'll understand.1 point

This may have been already shared, but its too good not to share. Of course the libtards and gun grabbers still won't see this because they don't' use common sense, logic, and look at the facts…. http://youtu.be/B5ELyG9V1SY1 point

Well it's December 2014 and I have only shot one young deer. I am a meat hunter and not a trophy hunter so I dont care about the antlers. But I have only saw three. I had a chance to shoot at some deer about two different times but couldn't get my muzzleloader turned around in time. It took me 3 minutes to get my gun into a position to shoot and then they turned into a bush . They were about 30 feet from me  . Is there anyone here that is still seeing deer active in the woods ? I'm just wondering if I am the only one having bad luck. Here's a picture of the one I got a few days ago . At this rate I can't be choosy , if it's brown without spots , it's going down , LOL 1 point

http://www.gunssavelife.com/?p=14942&utm_source=feedly&utm_reader=feedly&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=kroger-boycott-fail-third-quarter-profits-up-21-stocks-at-record-high-despite-moms-demand-action-soft-boycott Pity Michael Bloomberg’s paid-for Moms Demand Action girls: their boycott of the Kroger chain has been a complete and utter failure as Kroger reported their profits are up 21% (!) in the third quarter and the company’s stock is at an all-time high. (SmartBrief.com) – Kroger posted a 21% jump in profits during the third quarter with $25 billion in total sales and double-digit unit and sales growth for the chain’s Simple Truth and Simple Truth Organic private-label brands, said COO Mike Ellis. The company marks its 44th consecutive quarter with positive identical store sales, which were up 5.6% for the period. What did Kroger do to inspire the soft-boycott from Moms Demand Action and its head, Shannon Watts aka Shannon Troughton, President and owner of of VoxPop Public Relations, a boutique liberal PR firm? Moms Demand Action demanded Kroger ban guns in their stores. Kroger told Shannon and crew to pound sand. So the Moms spent big dollars to attack Kroger in a series of (not so slick) advertisements as part of a campaign to urge people to boycott Kroger until they ban guns. Read more.1 point

Like many topics in this forum, this isn't exactly an NFA issue, but could be, so I'm putting it here. So the Shockwave Blade has been approved for use on a pistol, but ruling letter states "provided the Blade AR Pistol Stabilizer is used as originally designed and NOT used as a shoulder stock." http://shockwavetechnologies.com/site/?p=2114 (first page image is mislinked to second when you try to get full size, here is direct link for first page: http://shockwavetechnologies.com/site/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/IMG_1055.jpg ) There will be a court suit to decide this "usage" thing eventually. We now have conflicting ruling letters about the method of the use of a product on a firearm as separate from the mere legality of having it on the firearm. The second ruling on the SIG brace was that "improperly" using it did not change the classification of the firearm. Now we have this and the Black Aces ruling which say usage determines legality, in essence that "improper" use would change the classification of the firearm to an SBR. Never in history of ATF has it attempted to limit how a firearm is utilized, only whether the configuration is legal or not. I suspect anyone charged for illegal usage of a legally configured firearm would not be convicted. But if they were, seems would be stuck down on appeal, and that would be validated by SCOTUS if the feds took it that far. I can see no justification in the USC whatsover to support that kind of stand. There is no difference between this and shooting a stocked weapon from the hip, a handgun with two hands, or the feller who fires his 1911 with his feet, so they could say those behaviors are illegal also. - OS1 point

I have been looking for a Bersa Plus for quite some time and this is a Bersa Plus 380 Caliber but it is the original Bersa model 85. It was made before they began calling them Thunders. It is the original version of the Plus offered now. I really love this gun. I got to shot it back about 4 months ago but my buddy didn't want to part with it but decided he would trade it for another gun I had. Even swap.......  1 point

Finally finished!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Sorry for the dark pictures, new phone and need to tweak some of the settings I think. Or get my wife to find her digital camera that she wanted and never uses anymore.... Either way I will try to get some better/clearer pics tomorrow. Picked the rail up from being cerakoted today - if you don't already know Amendment 2 Coatings does FANTASTIC work. Everything is put together, hoping that tomorrow afternoon I will be able to run to the range and put a couple hundred rounds down range. If not tomorrow will be shooting on Sunday. Complete build list: PSA lower White Oak Armament LPK with ALG QMS trigger Phase 5 Hex-2 buffer tube with Sig brace Magpul MIAD grip Magpul FDE trigger guard Phase 5 bolt release Battle Arms Development ambi safety in FDE Seekins FDE mag release Fortis QD end plate Magpul MS3 sling set as single point Anderson upper Stroke Industries FDE dust cover MAS Defense 10.5" barrel - 5.56 1:7 twist .750 low profile gas block Diamondhead VRS-T 10.25" rail MAS Defense charging handle with G3 latch Radical Firearms nitride BCG KAW Valley Precision linear comp in FDE I had a KAK slim can on there but like the KAW Valley comp look better. Magpul XTM handstop installed but also have a FDE AFG2 on the way, not sure which one I will end up using. Moved the Primary Arms red dot and Diamondhead flip up sights over from my carbine to this pistol. Installed a PA 1-4x optic on my carbine.1 point

Books on CD? I ordered a book last month and got a 7cd set. I was really confused until I went back to look at the listing. I didn't notice that it said Audible book at the bottom of the paragraph. By the time I paid a restocking fee and return shipping, it wasn't worth returning. I'd only get a refund of about 3 bucks. I figured I'd listen to it in the car. May take me several years to finish there though.1 point

I ordered one of these from PSA a couple of weeks ago and it just arrived at my FFL. The finish is probably 95% with some holster ware. It has some light surface rust where the finish is worn, but I think it should clean up with a little elbow grease and some Hoppes. The weapon either wasn't shot very much, or it had a new recoil spring and guide rod installed. Bore and rifling are good, no pitting. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with my purchase. This weapon is also going to break my of my bad habbit of putting my off hand over the top of the slide when I'm doing a field strip. Nearly been bit twice.1 point

So far my son and Grandsons have bagged 9. My son called me the other night and told me my youngest grandson Logan age 9 bagged his first deerthat day An 8 point buck. Some of the meat is in my freezer. I was thrilled to hear also, he bagged it with of all guns my old Winchester model 94 I gave my son when he really began hunting deer seriously. He was about 18 at the time and it was one of the only 3 guns the thieves failed to steal in 1988. They were well hid in a false wall and didn't find it. Head is being mounted and pictures will be coming soon of mount. They are hunting on his land only and has quite a few deer on it. He has promised me one more before the end of season and I told him make it a young and tender one about 100lbs if possible....................... :up:1 point

There are no vertical grips that are ok on a pistol with less that 26" overall length. What you are referring to are the Magpul AFG and Strike Industries cobra grip and those like them, that are not vertical grips at all. They are fine on any length weapon because they aren't considered vertical grips. These...1 point

Well. Here is what I have so far. 304 stainless steel core. 8" length. 1.375 O.D. Blast chamber is 2.125, then four .900 chambers and last a 1.100 chamber. The groove is for an O ring. It is a direct thread. I may do a few small modifications to a few baffles to disrupt flow.1 point

Well, back when I was kid there were no such things as Convenience Stores in the town I lived in. Back when I was a kid folks new to make lists and get everything they needed before the Christmas holiday or did without. You could not even buy gasoline anywhere near where I lived which was 65 miles southwest of Chicago.1 point

I prefer Cablea's over Gander Mountain and Bass Pro combined. Gas is not too bad right now. If I had the free time on a Saturday, I'd make the drive up. Heck there's a Gander Mountain at same exit and a Chuy's right across the street. Hit both the stores, grab some lunch and call it a good morning.1 point

Happened early last month. http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/sumner/2014/11/04/sumner-votes-raise-property-taxes/18448859/ People love to rail against the federal government, but local government still has the ability to make changes that can be felt just as deeply. I'd bet those will be the most pissed can't name the county executive or their district commissioner off the top of their head.1 point

While I'm not OS, yes you may own both. If you were not able there would be multitudes, including me, in violation of federal law. In the case you mentioned, you have a legal use for the stock and foregrip (a gun with a barrel greater than 16") so there is nothing to worry about. See post #5 Now, I would not ride around in the car with a stock and my AR pistol, there's no proof there that you have a legal use for the stock since your gun with a barrel greater than 16" is not present, but that's me personally1 point

In utilitarian terms a wharncliff lets you get a lot of pressure on some stuff to cut through, think a push or pull cut on loop of rope or whatever, pretty good leverage and the straight blade not as likely to slip off it, while the Bowie style is more optimized for long deep slices. The curved part of the Bowie style makes for smooth slice from base to tip of blade on cut of blade length or continuous long cut on larger expanse.. Of course either will do a decent cuttting job on about anything, But of course a 2" blade ain't gonna finish Big Bad Bubba by stabbing him with it, but they'll slice down through meat much deeper than they will stab through it. They also make the Minimalist in a Tanto, but I don't think as much of it overall. Probably a decent utility knife for various stuff though. - OS1 point
-
Its called a Wharncliff and makes the point a leading point which is better for self defense. The edge drags the point into the cut as you cut.1 point

Thanks for all the imput!! I'm selling my ST1300 because of shoulder problems. The vibrations and bumps of the road in the handlebars is causing problems. I've decided I'd be in the same boat with a 4 wheeler. Side by sides have steering wheels so that's where I'm going. I'm looking at the Polaris 4x4 500 if I can find a good used one. I used to use one a lot when I worked, but have not had one in the woods before. A friend of mine has one and uses it a lot for woods riding and loves it. So...thanks again for all the input!!!1 point
Before this is over it is going to turn out to be like the Tiger Woods Saga. Young women are going to be getting added to the list almost daily now and it will be up to the DA to discount all of the claims verse what is fact and who is just wanting to get their name in the paper and on the news. If the guy is a monster and described and they can get 1 or 2 Iron clad cases against him and get him put away with Big Bubba for ever I see no sense in wasting tax dollars trying him for all of the many more that will be jumping on the band wagon. When they convict him just say your guilty for all of your actions in these cases and any others and life without parole is your sentence and Bubba is waiting for you.........................jmho
I strongly disagree. If the other accusations can be proven valid, he should be charged and tried for each one. I don't care if the first charge gives him a life sentence. Each victim deserves justice, and he should be tried for crimes committed against each of them, if this turns out to be true. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
