Discovery Announcement ~ The densest element in  the known  Universe has finally been found.  Pelosium:   A major research institution has just announced  the discovery  of the densest element yet known to science. The new element  has been named Pelosium. Pelosium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons,  and 223 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass  of 311. These particles are held together by dark forces  called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. The symbol of Pelosium is PU.  Pelosium's mass actually increases over time,  as morons  randomly interact with various elements in the atmosphere  and become assistant  deputy neutrons within the Pelosium molecule, leading to the  formation of isodopes.  This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some  scientists to believe that Pelosium is formed whenever morons reach a  certain quantity invoting concentration.  

47 years of marriage.. My first package showed up about a week ago or a lil more. It had four low budget knives in it and a bunch of stickers. I thought it a lil odd, as it seemed kinda random, but was Thankful for someone sending me a present. Well turns out Santa has a senze of humor. I came home from work this am to find another box. Santa ordered up some presents from Northern Crescent iron. As a blacksmith, I find this compaines work is incredibly impressive. The dice are gonna be carried as a conversation piece from time to time. The detail on the spike knife is stunning. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you Santa.

The only good thing to come out of being in a place with an idiot like that:   The bad guys will shoot him first which will give me more time to draw and fire my concealed weapon.

I bought this H1 in Oct. of 2008, turned it on, and it has been on ever since. Today I went to switch it to a different rifle and it was dead. After 6 years the battery finally died. 50,000+ hours. That's pretty good battery life if you ask me.

Have you seen this?   http://fox17.com/news/features/featured/stories/report-peyton-manning-could-buy-tennessee-titans-2015-3868.shtml     Honestly, I have never wanted to like Peyton Manning because of the savior-image Vols fans have always projected on him.  I moved to Tennessee in the height of Manning Fever and for some reason it just soured me.  That said, you can't deny that the guy knows how to play the game and he's really matured as an NFL quarterback since leaving Indianapolis.  I always liked to joke that his favorite position was the Fetal Position when he played for the Colts, because as soon as the defensive line crumbled he was quick to curl up rather than take a hit.   But, this might be the thing that fixes the Titans.  They do need a good house-cleaning from top to bottom and Peyton is a competitive player and savvy businessman.  I think it will take him or someone like him to straighten the franchise out.   The way it is right now, I'd be surprised if very many people keep their season tickets for 2015.  The current Titans suck.

What I've done with magazines with sleeves is to slide them up and put a piece of clear tape around the base then slide the sleeve back on. Nice snug fit and it doesn't move around.

I thought there was some creepy cracker taking my pic at the shop the other day. You're just jealous of my custom bad ass rig. Some people have to choose between the awesome stopping capability of the .45 and the inherent capacity advantage of the Glock. I call those people sheep. It was hard training my one hand to angle the Glock right while dual wielding, but I think anyone with some sense can agree the results are worth the effort.

IMHO, money lending has been a major component of their business a lot longer than 10 years.  Before probably the mid-'80s people with no credit history and / or lower incomes couldn't usually qualify for a Visa or other bank card.  Sears built an empire by extending credit to young folks.  Lots of new households got fitted out with Kenmore appliances and the like.  I think when banks started issuing cards that allowed those same folks to take their business elsewhere that was really the proverbial beginning of the end.   In fairness, back in the day, Sears brands were mostly above average in quality.  I'd suggest that the quality of their products didn't really start suffering until easier credit started facilitating the purchase of lower priced albeit inferior goods at the big box discount stores.  Not to say they didn't make mistakes but I also suspect they found themselves playing a new game they couldn't win.   At the risk of sounding elitist, I believe as consumers we get what we show the manufacturers and retailers we value.  If you show 'em you're willing to sacrifice quality to save a buck, you get shoddy goods.  If you're willing to deal with indifferent employees to save 12 cents on a bottle of shampoo, you get poor customer service, etc. ad nauseum.   My $0.02.         

With all of today's improvements in modern 9mm jacketed hollow point self defense ammo, there's no need to ever feel undergunned. Performance of 9's get it done. The most important thing is accurate shots on target. Personally, I would stay away from 115 grain anything. It starts off fast but tends to slam on the brakes. I shot all but a couple mags worth of 115grain Remington I had for a long time and am running 147 grain Winchester White Box JHPs right now. I also mass load 135gr for training and SHTF in a Glock 17 and Beretta 92F.   However, since you're directly asking about self defense ammo for a compact firearm, you may get better accuracy out of a short barrel with a 124 grain projectile. The slightly lighter weight may allow the rifling to stabilize it better before leaving the barrel. Hornady and Federal also make 135gr JHPs.   I personally don't feel the need to have a bonded bullet. The chance of me shooting through a barrier in a self defense situation are pretty slim, in my opinion. If I were you, I'd just buy a box each of whatever's on the shelf, in 124gr and heavier. I'd do an accuracy and function test from a rest at 25 yards, to try and take the human error out and see which round is more accurate out of that pistol. Shoot 10 rounds per target and see how they grouped. I'd shoot 20 rounds from each box. If group size looked the same, I'd go with the heavier rounds since they carry their momentum better. Penetration is the first priority. Expansion, is a bonus.   Good luck in whatever you decide.

I have a 6940 (16"), 6943 (11.5") and 6944(14.5") uppers there all are really accurate. That can looks shorter than normal ones, not sure who makes it.

    I lived in that world for a number of years. TQM, 6 Sigma, Poka Yoke, Kaizan, VOC, T-tests, ad nasuem....   Those are a bunch of wonderful concepts that, when applied intelligently, can significantly improve a wide variety of processes.  Or what I like to call, the stuff any process engineer worth his salt had been doing long before the bosses paid the consultants an obsene amount of money to give it a fancy name.  I escaped for a while but unfortunately it's begun to invade my current world.  So far, the results have bordered on laughable.    If there are people involved, there will be mistakes.  Anyone who says otherwise is selling something.  Make something idiot-proof, they'll make a better idiot.

pretty much exactly this only I won't begrudge a gun or ammo the rare failure. Shoot a lot and it's bound to happen, of course an ongoing or even intermittent problem is a different matter.

I read the book several times and that scene is NOT in the book. If this is representative of what the rest of the movie is like ... it will be disappointing. The book stands well on its own merits, creative artistic license is not helping.
