I was in Scottsdale, AZ the other day. I saw a bumper sticker on a parked car that read: " I miss Chicago" . So I broke the window, stole the radio, shot out two of the tires, added an Obama bumper sticker and left a note that read, "Hope this helps.â€3 points

I've already installed a D model hammer spring, performed a trigger & action job, & installed an Elite II skeleton hammer & after a long wait, I finally picked up a SGS style compensator for my Beretta 92G Brigadier Elite. It adds a little weight up front & has three upward firing ports. The Brigs already have a gentle recoil so I can't wait to try it out with the new compensator attatched. I'll try to post better quality photos when I take it to the range.2 points

They tell everyone 3-4 weeks but the ~10 people I have recommended them to got them in under 2 weeks and some inside of a week. It is a lot better for business for your customers to receive their item early than late. People will raise holy hell if their product is a day or two late so it is better to over estimate and have a happy customer than under estimate and have a pissed off one.2 points

You're running a heat pump. "Emergency heat" is a backup heat source - generally electric for when the ambient temperature outside is too cold for the heat pump to operate effectively. As an old physics professor of mine used to say, "when I see that light come on, I know I'm going to be eating peanut butter sandwiches..."2 points

Just went by Dicks. All handgun ammo is 20% off yet they are still at least 20% higher than other vendors. Their rifles and shotguns are on sale. The only thing that peaked my interest was a Mossberg MVP for $409.2 points

This was the hardest stock project I have done. I thought I had it before but when looking at it found some issues. Started out as an inletted blank that was roughed out. Stripped the finish off 3 times after seeing more issues, finally am calling it quits on this one.1 point

The no permit law in D.C. is part of the reason my brother recently transferred to another state. He lived in VA & had a CC permit, but worked for the D.O.D. & had top security clearance, but was still not allowed to carry in D.C. or at his job because of idiotic gun laws. The last straw was when he was working at the Navy yard & witnessed the shooting last year. A good friend & co-worker of his was murdered along with other employees because they worked in a "gun free zone". If the employees had been armed, there would at least had a chance to try to stop the gunman, but our govt. sees legally armed citizens as more of a threat. Disarming legal gun owning citizens & posting "no gun" signs does not make America a safer place. To this day I've never heard of a gunman politely asking permission to go on a shooting spree!1 point

I KNOW the Redhawk can take a beating. You can feed it loads that would kill a Mod 29. I do not, however, recommend doing that.1 point

Some Knoxville PD officers are carrying Sig 1911's now...swat guys or something like that. The rest are carrying some other type of Sig .451 point

Yep. They never really took off in mainstream demand till Dirty Harry, then SW had to crank up the line. Then 90% of the folks who bought one during the craze wound up selling them and demand returned to the norm. - OS1 point

I have contacted Keltec and wish they would make these in 22lr. I would have bought one the second they came out at double the MSRP if they were in 22lr. But because they refuse to make one I will not be buying one. Making it only in 22 magnum was one of the most idiotic choices they have ever made and they have made a lot of idiotic choices.1 point

There are a lot more officers that do this and more, than people could ever imagine. God Bless.1 point

It's what K191145 was talking about in post #13 and what jtmaze said. Aux is when the heat pump runs and the heat strips/coils kick on to supplement it because it's too cold outside for the heat pump to draw any/enough heat from the outside air. Emergency is for the heat strips/coils by themselves. The heat pump compressor itself will not be running. The fan blower will be running in either mode to move the air. Aux will kick on if it needs supplemental heat. Emergency will kick on to keep you from freezing to death until the repairman arrives if the heat pump craps out or freezes over. Both use the electricity-hungry heat strips/coils.1 point

If the ammo feeds reliably and groups well, I'd not give it a second thought. I expect the variance is a bullet issue and not a die/press issue.1 point

When someone buys from a wholeseller or other supplier and over charges, I ignore it. When someone buys from the same store shelve that I could have bought from and then over charges b/c it was the last available, it pisses me off. they're trash. jmho1 point

couple of things to remember They HAVE to pay you diminished value for the accident. Your car now has a lower resell value because there is an accident on the title. Don't let them screw you around on that because they will say "the car was only worth $8000 to begin with, we're not dealing with a Corvette so diminished value doesn't apply" or something similar to get you to back off that, but don't. Don't use their shop, find your own and deal with them directly. Their shops have a contract with them because they do cheap work, not because they do OEM quality work. You need to get reimbursed for any time and trouble that you lose dealing with this mess. Don't need to exaggerate anything, but they need to compensate you 100% for everything this has caused. You didn't ask to be ran into, their customer did it to you. Getting it fixed or getting the payout is personal preference, I wouldn't personally be able to drive around a wrecked car just because it would irk the crap out of me knowing I took such good care of something just to have someone else ruin it. <edit> and remember the most important thing... they don't care about you or the car, they care about how little they can get away with paying you - because that's the job of their claims department.1 point

I resemble that remark! Besides, the correct terminology doesn't rhyme with "Jingle Bells" so I claim poetic license.1 point

I personally have no problems risking my life on any of the weapons I own whether its my Sprinfield, Kimber Classic, or Glock (all lower end for the brand). Heck, I had to risk it on equipment supplied by the lowest bidder for 21 years, and luckily it all went bang when it needed to. To me it really is a matter of choice on what you want to spend and then its a matter of getting one that does not turn out to be a lemon. I have had identical guns shoot much differently so its not even a brand issue. Though I personally would not buy a hi-point, I have fired them, they go bang and hit a torso at engagement range; just don't like the looks, but heck I don't like the Glock 19 either. But I am a cheap bastard, I would never pay over 1K for a gun when a 400 to 600 one will do the same thing, which goes for scopes, cars, trucks and any other thing that gets over priced because of the brand label on it.1 point

The difference is the ability of the barrel to lock up in the same orientation to the slide every time. Mechanically that is a fine line between success and failure. If you can machine the barrel, barrel bushing, slide and frame to a perfect fit; you have success, but if you tighten the fit to perfect or near perfect you may be in trouble when you apply the coefficient of thermal expansion. Therefore you need enough clearance to repeat but not so tight it locks up or drags when it heats up. Use to be those guns were machined “one off†and hand fitted. Today those can produced in much higher numbers. Will a custom built target 1911 operate perfectly with Bubba doing mag dumps? No. But he will blame the magazines, ammo and everything else before he admits he’s using the gun for something other than it was designed for. The biggest factor is the shooter. People who don’t have the ability or don’t shoot a lot will spend $3500 on a handgun and expect it to shoot 5 shot touching groups at 25 or 50 yards. So what will happen if you spend $3k on a 1911? You will tighten up that group to as tight as you have the ability to do. Is it worth it? Not to me, I don’t shoot in competition anymore. If I did I would probably do it. But that’s your call. So the bottom line is you get the physics, metallurgy, and ballistics that you pay for, the rest is dependent on your skill. Your revolvers don’t suffer from the problem of the barrel and the sights moving separately; so you shoot it better; we all do.1 point

I got up early this morning in hopes of catching another glimpse of the big one that I caught a few glimpses of yesterday evening. I wanted to get in the blind at least an hour before daylight to ensure everything was completely settled back down by daylight. The guy that hunts the farm next door saw that I had put a food plot in so he decided that he'd put a stand up about 30 yards away to try to catch deer on their way in (yea that's a b!tch move) but anyways, they decided to drop someone off with the 4 wheeler at that stand as the sky was starting to light up, so much for letting everything settle down huh... I was having a very hard time staying awake listening to the rain falling on the roof of the blind but a doe running at full speed caught my eye. She came straight over the fence from his direction headed straight towards me then made a hard left and into the trees she went. I wasn't sure if she'd busted him and was just getting out of Dodge or if a buck was after her but just in case I flipped up the plexiglass window and before I got it latched I saw another doe coming in at a fast trot//sprint with what looked like antlers growing from her back. The I realized there was a buck with his head up her rear end so I stuck the rifle out the window and had plans of grunting to stop him long enough for a shot but that wasn't happening. I tried grunting, whistling and finally I tried screaming all of which he paid zero attention to, I mean he never broke stride. I wasn't sure if he was the big one (he wasn't :( or not but I knew he was big enough that I was going to shoot him anyways so I took a quick shot as he ran by me. He ended up running about 30 yds down the hill into the woods before he fell dead. Here he is,1 point

I make sure my gun is clear. Then I stand in front of the television with my gun holstered. I mentally tell myself "blue" or some other color. The next person that comes on screen wearing that color I draw, take aim and fire. I rack, holster and do another color.1 point
