I was in Scottsdale, AZ the other day. I saw a bumper sticker on a parked car that read: " I miss Chicago" . So I broke the window, stole the radio, shot out two of the tires, added an Obama bumper sticker and left a note that read, "Hope this helps.â€10 points

If the networks aren't covering it...you can bet there's a reason other than his popularity. I'd guess to draw the focus away from the content. You know the lowest-common-denominator watchers won't hear of it any other way. So possibly a way to slide it by some.5 points

You're running a heat pump. "Emergency heat" is a backup heat source - generally electric for when the ambient temperature outside is too cold for the heat pump to operate effectively. As an old physics professor of mine used to say, "when I see that light come on, I know I'm going to be eating peanut butter sandwiches..."4 points

I have picked up two air rifles from Essex Bargain Hunt in Franklin. Both are Gammo and shoot great. They have two other air guns in the back at deep discounts. I bought both of mine for less that 40 each and there were more that 120 on amazon. If you are looking for a deal they are a good place to look. They will not have a huge selection, but you can't beat the price. You can call and ask what they have. Bargain Hunt Discount Store 4140 Carothers Pkwy, Franklin, TN 37067 (615) 591-07743 points

I'm curious about this as well. There are very very few apartment complexes inside the city that I would consider a safe area. 48 Hours filmed a lot in Memphis because Memphis has one of the highest solve rates in the country. Be it our "excellent detectives" or our incredibly stupid criminals, most of them get caught. However, your impressions are why the city government kicked them out. They felt that people were starting to look at Memphis negatively and told the show to get packing. As terrible as Memphis is to all the people that hate it from afar or have moved away, I've been here for 31 years and haven't had an issue. My dad lived his entire life here, dating back to 1955 and never had an issue. We lived in a poor part of town that many would consider a high crime area. And yet we were never robbed, broken into or murdered. As has been mentioned before, much of Memphis' violent crime is between people that know each other. Outside of work, I don't associate with criminals. And its working out swimmingly for me thus far.3 points

I've owned Redhawks and M-29's. Unless your heart's set on a DA/SA revolver go with a Ruger Super Blackhawk or Vaquero.2 points

....... have you ever experienced talking survival preparation with others, and did they have that wide eye deer in the headlight look and then did you realize they think you are weird or a nut? As many of those I work with are former military or involved in emergency services, survival preperation is a serious subject when we discuss it at work.1 point

I LOVE, with a capital L, my Taurus 24/7 and I would gladly trade a STAR Super B 9mm for one. I have an OSS/DS model and it is the most accurate 9mm I have ever shot. It has a great trigger and has been reliable for over 2K rounds. I put the STAR Super B 9mm in the same category as a Llama. Yes they are reliable but beyond that they are not anything special and are actually a "budget" gun.1 point

Watch those. Many are no different than soda, just without the carbonation and coloring. I dropped more than 30lbs a few years ago through diet and exercise but the streak was broken by going on a cruise. I didn't gain much weight on the cruise itself but got out of the good habits. Now I'm back where I was and not too happy about it. I was feeling more healthy and starting to look good down at that weight so now I'm trying again. Most of the false starts over the intervening years have been diet without exercise or exercise without diet. I really need both. The exercise is a great motivator to watch the diet since I hate exercise and it just means wasted effort if I eat crap. Sugars and starches really are the enemy which is difficult as I'm a big fan of bread and sandwiches. Also a problem around here as nearly everything is dipped in batter or breadcrumbs before deep-frying. Sweet things I can mostly do without so that's not such a big deal. Two things I found really useful: Eggs (several ways to cook them, easy and quick) and bananas (starchy but only about 100 cals per banana and occupy your attention if you're eating partly out of boredom and very cheap)1 point

My pleasure....now about the consulting fees... Addendum...Check the site GrabAGun.Com. I have bought several from them and been very satisfied. But to the point...they are offering the Sig Nightmare now for 799. And in the past I believe had the Scorpion at a similar price.1 point

A S&W Model 19, or some of the earlier Smith revolvers. The Ruger GP 100. Sig 1911. The choices are endless. Surely you have a dream gun. Look at what interests you and pick that one you'd probably never get unless "found" money dropped into your lap. Still looking? Give it to me. I can find something. Too darn easily. lol1 point

That's how I felt when I was younger. I used to call it a "speed tax". I got older pretty quick. Last time I got a ticket was over a decade ago, and that was less about speeding and more about me not paying attention to the speed limit in an unfamiliar area, and I was droned out from a long drive. I see no benefit to speeding. The amount of time saved by speeding is marginal, and doesn't make sense when doing a cost/benefit analysis. It baffles me when I meet folks who are my age and complain about being pulled over all the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

^^^^This. Don't overlook the security six line either. You might be able to pick up a used glock and a ruger .357 for the money of a new sig (226/229/220) etc1 point

Maybe. Ones more what I would consider a use and abuse kind of shooter, the others going to be a neat old gun that works but may or may not be something you want to take out and shoot a whole lot. I'd probably hang into the Star, but I like old guns with soul. :shrug:1 point

At the least, transporting firearms as per FOPA regs will certainly cover you anywhere in the SouthEast. As I guess you know, anyone not prohibited from ownership may now have loaded firearms in their vehicle in TN. Certainly, no probs in Bama any more than in TN of bringing your TSA compliant-packed firearms for checked luggage on a flight. - OS1 point

Has always seemed as certain % of TGOers just figure in a couple hundred or so a year in fines as normal part of driving. Really. - OS1 point

Be care what you ask for............. :ugh: All I requested was one but I really do appreciate the others also. I promise not one piece of the deer meat will go to waste. The thing that impressed me the most is 3 of the deer I received came from a phone call of a local processor and he told me I had a deer to be picked up so when I got there I was expecting to pay the processing fee and I was told I did not owe anything. It was already paid for. That happened 2 more times and the one I got today the deer hunter was not a member here and he processes his own deer and he brought it all processed and looked as professional as any I have got so far. I offered to pay him and he would not take anything. So far i have only paid for 1. He said his freezers are full and he still has 2 tags he can fill and I said if you don't have any room bring them here and I will make room. I didn't tell him I just went and bought one of the Haier Apartment size chest freezer and have it in the bait room plugged up and should be ready for meat or other frozen foods tomorrow. Now even though I trust Gallatin Electric Company completely I guess I better start shopping a generator I can afford that will run both freezers if nothing else. I can survive as long as I keep my meat frozen. Never really know what Mother Nature will throw at us. Look at the 15 feet of snow in New York and 12 feet in Michigan. I guess I can't feel bad for those folks and don't really know why. They just seem to attract bad luck all the time. I want to call it self inflicted but I don't think every one in the state deserves what is happening up there...............jmho1 point

Coon or hog hunter maybe? I've only seen a few people OCing in TN, and all were dressed pretty normally. No shorts, beaters, or tacti-cools. I did see one driving a school bus (saw him walk from a gas station to the bus) the other day, which I thought was interesting. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and had a Glock in a leather holster. Nothing unusual-looking at all otherwise.1 point

Now we're getting somewhere. Your story about your experiences and "relationship" with your buddies girlfriend is much more entertaining to me than the OP about some rube from middle Tennessee getting robbed in Memphis. I can get that any night at 6 o'clock on the local news.. 😳. Just kidding. She sounds like a lovely woman....1 point

No apology necessary bursaguy. Memphis crime is out hand, but most locals know that the victims almost always know the perpetrator. There are exceptions like the incident with the OPs buddy and they usually occur in apartment complexes or malls. I get irritated because some of the very kids who like to crap on Memphis live in smaller cities hunkered down in bunkers that would put some armories to shame. What are they afraid of? Obviously crime is everywhere and if you live in or around large cities there will be higher concentrations of crime, especially if that city has a large population of people who are poor and/or uneducated. I'm glad that the utopia comment made you think. Because as much as Memphis may scare a lot of our members, it appears by the number of weapons that they own, they are equally afraid of something in their own communities.1 point

I was wondering the same thing. It sure does have more than a passing resemblance to the wallet holsters. I suppose since it's all integrated then it's OK? On the up side, it doesn't have GRIPZONE embossed on it.1 point

Glad he is ok as well, hope I never have to deal with that situation. Us Memphians tend to be a little sensitive as it seems sometimes people go out of their way to emphasize that something happened in Memphis as if it would be a statistical improbability that same event could ever happen outside our city limits...1 point

I am a native Memphian, and have lived here all my life. I am quite fond of the city and most of the people. I have a great deal of civic pride and love to watch the Tigers and the Grizzlies, love Graceland and the Pyramid (which will soon be the worlds largest Bass Pro Store), all the great blues music, and all of the fabulous BBQ places. It's really not as terrible as some folks would lead you to believe. But, there are places and times when you need to watch and be aware of your surroundings. A similar event took place here in an apartment complex almost two years ago strangely enough also a Sunday night, but that young man was carrying a concealed handgun and was well prepared when the balloon went up. When the two young thugs threatened to kill him if he didn't give up his wallet, he pretended to reach for his wallet but instead drew his pistol and shot and killed one of the robbers. He shot at the other one but he turned tail and ran away. I hope your friend is okay, and that he understands what happened here might just as easily take place in any city such as Knoxville, Nashville, Chattanooga or any place in between. Memphis just happened to be where your friend was when this event took place.1 point

I do out of respect. I tend to get stopped a lot and I never get a ticker when I inform whether I'm armed or not. It's a good conversation starter besides the reason I was stopped! Plus I think most LEOs realize HCP holders are their last concern1 point
