I have been using the internet since 1992. I had email before most people knew it existed, or could access it. (Remember that, back when it was called "e-mail"?) Before the World Wide Web even existed (I think). From the beginning, I started reading one of the first gun forums, rec.guns, on Usenet. I posted occasionally, but not all that much. Then came, AR15.com, which has become such a behemoth that I rarely check it anymore. Probably the most I have ever posted on any other gun forum was on 65grendel.com. But adding up all the posts I have ever made on any and all internet forums in the last 22 years, they would not add up to anywhere near the amount of bandwidth I have used on tngunowners.com. So, congratulations to TGO for being more worthwhile to me than any other internet resource and thanks to TGO for the same thing. Sincerely, Will2 points

My widget factory is discontinuing all models of widgets except one and discounting the price on the "discontinued" models. Was it a strategic business decision to reduce overhead due to poor sales volume on the other widgets or was it just a brilliant marketing ploy to sell more total widgets? Will I actually discontinue the other widgets or is is just a fire sale of sorts because I overpriced certain models of the widgets and they did not sell well enough and I need to boost sales?2 points

Quick way to fix the EBT issues in this country... Create military style mess halls, if you're on welfare and need a free meal, you go to the 'mess hall' and they feed you. No TV's, just like it was in boot camp. Lots of people will get sick of that quick and find themselves a job to feed themselves.2 points

Wonder how their little ad campaign has been working out for them, to me it sounds like they are desperate to get businesses to move in. Probably smart businessmen and women know better than to trust (promises) from the government of New York.2 points

Went to the woods yesterday with my Son for a morning Bow Hunt and the following pictures were taken; Bow hanging in tree... Selfie....about five minutes before deer walks with 10 yards of my Son's stand. Deer was so close, he couldn't draw his bow because the stabilizer kept hitting his stand. He was about 20 foot up a tree and had to shoot near straight down. He wound up having to lean sideways out of his stand to get a shot. 6 minutes after selfie....Meat on the ground! Congrats Son...Awesome deer! Memories made... This deer will be fine eating for sure. Congrats to my Son Rob for his first bow kill (besides squirrels) of the season. The heats on this old man now! :no1: 000 Congrats on the milestone! You mentioned 65grendelforums.com. I've tried to get on there every since the orders went in for the TGO receivers last year and I decided that I was going to build one. I've had some other things come up that i'd like to go ahead and get so now i'd really like to get on there and list the parts I have for sale but I have messaged everyone I could on there but never have gotten anyone to instate my registration... My point is the congrats might be more warranted for the fact that you were actually able to get registered on that forum!1 point

I'll show a few. Took my youngest with me, he's 16 but I wasn't letting him hunt that area by himself last year. I'm in a climber in another tree looking back at the permanent ladder. Selfies, geez, I'm almost sorry I posted this one but I do kinda like seeing us both in the stand at daylight. Same hunt a little while later. We both got does. He was down much quicker checking on his deer. I'm still trying to work my way down in the climber. View from another hill. Same hill, looking down Same ladder stand. Small buck walking in and then bedded down behind me. Now you can see why they can just stop and disappear1 point

Yep. Had I shot when I first saw the two, I'd have orphaned one of the yearlings. They were at 30 yards, but I tend to be more patient lately, and now glad I waited. The yearlings didn't appear for 3 or 4 min after the does walked out.1 point

If it were airborne in the true sense of that meaning, West Africa would be virtually empty by now. At the least. What CDC doesn't explain to general public is that spreading a disease by droplets equal to or larger than 5 micrometers (such as generated by a sneeze at close range) is not technically considered airborne, but rather direct transmission. - OS1 point

I keep my Mossberg 930 under my spare tire. No one notices... not even my wife. Just kidding! But I have an IWB from Leatherneck Tactical that a super awesome buddy gave me, and it sits nice and low. I carry either my FS M&P or Compact M&P and the grip is just under my jelly roll. Completely invisible, except for the clip which shows. I can even tuck in T-Shirts and Polos around it and maintain concealment.1 point

When I take this whole thing back to its roots, which is the severe butt whipping they took from a crazy guy with a mini 14, I can't give them much credibility. They blamed the guns, instead of crappy tactics. Sure, they threw lots of money at it, and got lots of good data. Still doesn't excuse their flawed CYA logic. You show up to a rifle fight with inferior firepower, and then go looking for a new caliber. And what's this new projectile technology? The picture in the article is a Winchester Ranger. Isn't that just a black talon without the moly? Nothing new about that. I don't see anything wrong with them going back to 9mm. Just kinda irks me to see another government pig that's just plumb covered in lipstick.1 point

Although I'm not a guy, I feel that I am qualified to address this post. I'm 5'10" and 245 lbs and I've carried iwb for many years. One of the biggest problems when larger people try to carry iwb is the fact that our waistline is not flat like you lucky skinny folks out there. We are curvy and that can pose problems that skinny people don't even think about. When a larger person tries to wear a high riding holster (iwb or owb), it results in the butt of the gun sticking out from the body at the top (rather than laying flat against the body as it would on a normal sized person)......making it print really bad. For bigger people, the trick to carrying iwb (or owb and concealed) is getting a holster that rides lower on the waist. When the holster is lower, the butt of the gun stays closer and tighter to the belt, making it hardly print at all under a loose shirt. I've tried a LOT of holsters over the years, and there are only a few that I've found that really work for me: -Crossbreed Supertuck (pros: very comfortable and lightweight, super adjustable allowing it to go very low on the waist......cons: allows perspiration to reach your gun) -N82 (pros: rides low, very soft and comfy against the skin, completely blocks perspiration from getting to your gun......cons: only a single clip which sometimes allows it to move, especially when active) -Leather/Kydex double clip holster from www.firearmholster.com (my personal favorite! an awesome holster that takes the best of both the Supertuck and the N82 and combines it into one great rig!) The only other thing I would add is that no matter which holster you choose, you definitely want to get a good stiff gun belt......one that is actually made specifically for carrying a gun. I never realized how much this would help until I finally got one. I'll never buy another regular belt again! Hope this helps! :)1 point

OP, suggest that you take a look at the following: 1. Pick up a "real" fighting handgun, chambered in 9mm or better. Since you like M&P's, the choice should be obvious. Here's one: http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=209301 2. A good weaponlight > laser. Having said that, Surefire > other light brands. Their X3000U is the gold standard in a dedicated weaponlight: http://www.amazon.com/Surefire-Ultra-Ouput-Weaponlight-Black/dp/B00999CBJ6 3. For holsters, you need only look here. Often copied, they are the originators of this design: http://raven-concealment-systems1.mybigcommerce.com/smith-wesson-phantom-light-compatible-holster/ And an extra magazine on the belt: http://raven-concealment-systems1.mybigcommerce.com/single-modular-pistol-mag-carrier/ 4. Don't forget a good gunbelt, either. The polymer-lined model is awesome: http://www.thewilderness.com/tactical-belts/frequent-flyer-belt/ Now get some training! HTH, and good luck to you.1 point

The life prolonging thing is my main motivator. I inherited high blood pressure, and diet has little effect on it. The only way to keep it down to a manageable level without medication is exercise. I like my coffee and beer, so no exercise also means no coffee or beer. That is a problem for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Your doctor is wrong. Sitting on our butts and getting food from a drive thru are all choices. I'm not saying that I never indulge in the flame broiled goodness of a whopper, but if I had a weight problem I wouldn't touch the stuff. I don't farm or have an outdoor, physically demanding job. My wife is a stay at home mom. We have every excuse to be overweight, but we aren't. We choose not to be. The reason obesity in America is such a problem has nothing to do with the existence of unhealthy crap at every turn. It has everything to do with our culture of blaming others for our woes and REFUSING TO TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for anything. It has become so bad that folks like me who encourage people to take responsibility for their station in life are called "victim blamers/shamers". How crazy is that??? Of course the "victim" is to blame when they are the sole person able to make the choices, good or bad, which lead to their station in life. Americans complain about things they have complete control of. It drives me nuts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

There is no shame if you have a streak of bad luck and you really need the help to get back on your feet. That is for sure and especially if you have a family to care for. I get upset when I go visit a buddy of mine that lives in an Apartment complex that is also section 8 Housing and he and his wife pay $890.00 plus all utilities for 2 bedrooms and put food on the table and both drive average year auto's. Then you look at his neighbor which is a single girl with 3 kids and she pays 102.00 dollars pays for 3 bedroom, no utilities get $1,390.00 put on her EBT card every month and goes shopping in a fully dressed out Hummer with wheels that cost a $1,000.00 bucks each and sound system that rocks the whole truck and belongs to her live in boyfriend that also has no identifiable source of income. Those are the ones that make me mad. I think everyone that receives Government subsidies such as Welfare and food Stamps should be required to take a drug test at any time without notice. Agents just show up at your door with a person qualified to draw blood and they pop your blood right there right then and screen it for illegal drugs. If your dirty your done feeding off the sweat and veins of the taxpayers forever period.......................................JMHO1 point

As a former FFL, I can tell you that it is not uncommon. When I pressed TICS about why a customers appeal was not responded to, they would always tell me that many of the appeals were either incomplete or illegible resulting in them being unable to be processed. They recommend that the appeal form be completed in the gun shop and the dealer fax it to them. That way the dealer can check it to make sure it is complete and legible. I also had a customer denied at a gun show who came back 30 minutes later and told me they had approved him for a gun purchase from another dealer. I called him in again and that time they approved it. Go figure?1 point

Most of the time it is because of some charge in the past that doesn't show proper resolution paperwork in court system. And charge does not have to be a disqualifying one for TICS or NICS to hang things up, and I don't think you necessarily know which it was either. Has it been 15 working days, like M-F? - OS1 point

It is possible to take a milspec trigger in improve it to a point where it is very competitive. A few have pulled the trigger on my 300 Blackout and it is a reliable sub 2 pound trigger with ZERO take up and less than 1/16" over travel. Took about 20 minutes of work but I will put it up against any $200 trigger. I do not own an AR that has a trigger above 4 pounds and they all have milspec triggers.1 point

When food stamps were still in paper form and not on EBT card they had much tougher rules as to what you could purchase on them. You could not purchase any prepared food, no alcohol, tobacco, laundry soap, dish soap, bar soap, Toilet paper or paper towels. It had to be just strictly food products that you took home and prepared. But do you folks honestly think that is how it worked? People were out there buying food stamps from FS recipients for a 1/4 on the dollar with cash. That went on more and more so they decided they could fix that by putting your funds on the EBT cards but that didn't help anything because people would go shopping for the money people and buy everything on a list given to them and when they delivered the groceries they would receive 1/4 of the amount of the receipt in cash. I know this to be fact because I had a dead beat step son and his wife that were sellers and I knew the buyers. Anonymous phone call got all that stopped and everyone did some jail time. I think my step son blamed me for it but he never called me out on it. But we have not spoke since his mother passed away either back in 1997. I do know that it was stupid to make it possible to buy just about anything except Alcohol and tobacco on the cards. I think you can even use them in places like McDonald's but don't know that for sure because I don't got to those places very often. Can't afford them. Once a month I splurge and have KFC and live like a king for a day........ ........................jmho1 point

In all honesty if we went back to the days when most people had to physically work to make a living you would see a lot of people dropping over from heart attacks because a hard days work would kill many people because of their physical conditions. I made my living for many years with hands on hard work and I loved it. I looked forward to waking up and going to work. It almost killed me when I learned from my doctors I could not do it any more. Not being able to perform my job was a lot harder on me both mentally and physically than it was working...........jmho1 point

The last time I waddled into my doctor's office, he explained why it's easy to put on weight and hard to get off. In the golden days of America, people used to have to exert exercise to get their food--farming, manual labor, and other jobs with lots of moving around. Now we mostly sit on our butts, typing on computers and get our food from a drive-thru window. If we went back to making a living with more physical effort, we could be drinking our beer while showing off six pack abs.1 point

The BEST milspec lower parts kit is the DPMS. I have never had, nor have I never heard, of a problem with DPMS LPK's. Are the others as good, possibly, but I have heard of issues with PSA and Spikes LPKs. I have personally had a problem with a PSA LPK in the past. The trigger was not machined on the front and was rounded over. It still worked but it was not something I would have trusted. BCM is definitely as good as DPMS but you will also pay more. DPMS makes a lot of junk but their LPKs are great. For the last 10 years their LPKs have been great. When I am searching for a milspec LPK I ALWAYS tried to find DPMS before looking anywhere else. Now with that being said most LPKs are a combination of parts from various manufacturers. And most LPKs, regardless of brand, are more than likely made up of the same parts.1 point

The problem with food assistance is there are few stipulations on what they can purchase. Red Bull? Really? All food assistance should be modeled on the WIC program. Red Bull and soda are not a valid use of my tax dollars.1 point

I don't believe the myth that poor folks are fat because they can't afford non-fattening foods. I believe this for two reasons: 1. I come from the Honey Boo Boo culture. My parents didn't have much money when I was growing up, but we were all skinny. We didn't keep sodas or fattening snacks in the house. Those things cost more money. When I see the poverty level folks filling their carts, they're filling it with crap I can't even afford. I buy the cheapest stuff I can find, yet somehow everyone in my household is thin. We don't have personal trainers, nutritionists or a gym membership. We've both got a bunch of overweight people in our families, so I deny that we are thin due to some magic metabolism ability that 1/3 of Americans don't have. Most of the people I grew up with are tipping their trailer over when they walk around. They don't have a pot to piss in, yet they can mainline Mountain Dew like it's cool. Not that I care about someone's life choices, I like jolly people; what bugs me are folks who are doing it on my dime, or look at me like I have some magical secret to not being obese that they aren't capable of tapping into. My wife an I put effort into it, and I'm sick of hearing whiny ass Americans complain that they can't achieve the same due to circumstances beyond their control. 2. I've been around the world; to countries without a gluttonous culture and countries where people are so damn poor they can't afford food. There aren't a bunch of fat people there. So unless Americans are genetically different than everyone outside our borders (they aren't), a whole bunch of people are full of crap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

congrats on the recent and upcoming purchase! while you'll illicit many opinions..............you probably can't go wrong with the integrity of any of the lower parts from any of those companies, sans the trigger. of the three you'd mention, if you want a ranking, i'd go: 1 BCM 2 Spikes 3 PSA1 point

I don't own any retention holsters but then again I always cc. What type of handgun will you be carrying? If i had to oc right now for some reason I would use my Fobus holster. I think they offer one with a retention strap on some models but mine fit tight enough that I would feel comfortable with that, wouldn't fall out or anything and would be hard to grab. I cc with the Fobus some time in the cooler weather if I have a heavy cover garment. I had a leather Bianchi retention strap belt holster one time for my HK USP40 but I never really liked it so I sold it. It was excellent quality but very large and too stiff and bulky. Sorry I am not much help.1 point

While some law enforcement agencies have transitioned to larger calibers from the 9mm Luger in recent years, they do so at the expense of reduced magazine capacity, more felt recoil, and given adequate projectile selection, no discernible increase in terminal performance. That's it right there. Boom. Headshot. How in the world was such distilled sanity and common sense produced by an agency of the federal government?1 point

I said it over and over when he was running for Governor the 1st. time, Haslam was a card carrying member of Bloombergs MAIGs while mayor of Knoxville. When he decided to run state wide he quit MAIGs, making up some lame BS excuse that he didn't know they were anti-gun. I again will not vote for that man.1 point
