  1. I have sat by watching this thread and I told myself I was not going to get involved. For one I am not an electrician so I have no advice to give. But with that being said I MUST get involved now because, despite our rule of not saving members from themselves, getting involved may save more than just yourself.   You MUST get an electrician to come out. The amount spent on an electrician is cheaper than buying your grandparents a new home. And if you think your life sucked before it would really suck to be homeless, with your grandparents, because you didn't want to spend $100. Or even worse, God forbid, the house burns down and someone dies in the fire. Even if this is not your grandparent's home you MUST get an electrician out. If this is not your grandparent's home, and is a rental property, you should not be messing with the wiring. Matter of fact you probably should not be messing with the wiring no matter who's home it is.   Electricity is nothing to fool around with. Just because it seems good now doesn't mean that an hour, a week or a month later they wiring starts to overheat and the home burns to the ground. And if you are getting reduced numbers it could mean it is already grounded out somewhere and that is never a good thing. Hope your insurance is up to date.   Please, I beg of you, call an electrician before someone gets hurt or killed.   If the next post isn't "I called an electrician" I am locking this thread.   BTW, did you ever fight for your girlfriend, did you kick her to the curb or did she head off to Michigan to be with the man who threatened your life?

  2. 34 years ago, I sat on a cooler in the middle of this boat - with a William (Alf) in the front and an Evelyn in the back- both of whom I was incredibly fond. I ate sausage and biscuits while they caught endless amounts of fish. Today, I sit in the middle of this boat with a William in the front and an Evelyn in the back - both of whom I am indescribably fond. We didn't catch many fish, but we caught the most incredible moments together in a wonderfully beautiful world. Here's to you, Uncle Alf and Aunt Evelyn. "Dixie" still hauls them in after all these years. ... oh and crappie were biting on Priest today at around 17 feet... worms worked for us.

  3. Here is a link to a better article... http://www.cbsnews.com/news/sean-groubert-former-south-carolina-trooper-charged-in-shooting/   I'm pleasantly surprised to see the office charged...  clearly it was a bad shooting...  and a questionable stop, since there is no way the trooper witnessed the driver violating the law which is required in SC (and TN) to perform a stop for the seat belt law.   And yet another reason we should repeal the unconstitutional seat belt law in this state.  It's no different than trying to ban big gulp drinks, and candy bars...  none of the governments business if an adult is wearing a seat belt or not.

  4. So I bought an M92 and then decided the10.5" barrel was too long so I sold it a week after buying it and in its place I picked up a Mini Draco.

  5. No structural damage whatsoever. The airplane is quite capable. Simply landing puts more stress on the airframe than a barrel roll. Here's its predecessor doing one in 1955. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AaA7kPfC5Hk

  8. I am a DIEHARD 1911 fan. I find them easy to carry, I shoot them well and I think they are the best looking handgun out there. Something gentlemanly about a quality 1911 that just speaks to me. I run them better than pretty much any other platform out there. I can reload one in under 3 seconds (on a timer) from concealment...blah blah...   All that being said, after the recent Ferguson dustup, the fact that more crimes are being committed by groups of people, possible threats of retaliatory strikes against soft targets from the JV ISIS team the 1911 is in the safe and the G19 is on my hip in it's new Incog holster  loaded with quality HPs with two spare mags. Sometimes quanity IS better than quality :-)

  10. When I was a kid in the 70s, the Big Foot legend was in full force.  I swear I was really scared to venture into the woods.  Today with all of the deer cameras, where is the Big Feet creatures?

  11. Sounds like "someone" scheduled our untimely death for 11:15 today. It is odd to think we could have been killed at the same time regardless of where we were had my wife not been paying attention.   BTW, we bought $30 worth of lottery tickets, we never do, and currently trying to figure out how to cover ourselves in bubble wrap AND AR500 steel plate.

  13. This is the best way. I just got this sheath from Two Drunken Celts leather. Its a small blade cover sheath with a stud to keep it from sluding through the belt. You simply slide the knife behind the belt or for concealed you slide it in the waistband at about the 4 o clock postion vertically. This is one of my bowies for reference. 10.5" blade. This is one Ill be carrying often from now on.

  15. While in the truck, at home or at the range it will have a VFG but if I have to get out of the vehicle I will remove the VFG so it is a pistol. This is all pending ATF giving me the nod.

  18. I am wanting it as short as possible for the backpack. If I have to use it I am not going to be worried about the flash It came with a AR style flash hider and I bought a Damage Industries brake. I will say that shooting it with the brake it has no recoil at all but it also has a bit of a bite for the shooter. I shot about 10 rounds and that was enough, it forced my eyes closed and the pressure wave actually was uncomfortable. This is the brake from Damage Industries. And right now they have a 30% off sale using the coupon code "CUSTOMER30". I picked up the brake with a hammer spring and with shipping it was $28.28 shipped. I just did a test fit of a Sig brace and the side folder will lock closed with it in place so I might pick one up now. I LOVE the way they feel but they do add bulk and weight to the gun. I will probably drill out the bottom of the buffer tube to get rid of some of the weight. It will also be a great place to store any documentation like the ATF ruling that it is a pistol with the Sig brace installed. I measured it with the extended buffer tube and it is 26.25" long including the buffer tube. So if the ATF rules in my favor and agrees the buffer tube can be counted for overall length I will be adding a VFG to keep me from shooting my fingers off.

  22. Hi everyone.  I'm a recent transplant from the DC Metro area (Fairfax, VA to be more specific - home of the NRA HQ).  The family and I recently moved to Spring Hill, TN in search of a less-political and more wholesome place to live.  We think we found a good area so far!   I'm not new to shooting but years ago sold off all my firearms.  I'm looking to buy a few so I'd like some suggestions on local stores.  I'd of course love some recommendations on ranges too.   I also have some questions regarding TN laws and firearm purchasing (i looked over the FAQ but didn't see any answers):   1)  What IDs do I have to present when purchasing from an FFL? 2)  Are private party transfers legal without using an FFL or paying a transfer fee (so long as both are residents of TN). 3)  Are there any transportation (of firearms) laws I should be aware of? (in VA it was very lax and guns could be transported loaded and not locked up - even just sitting on the dash of your car)     Thanks!

  23. Used S&W 5906.  Accurate, excellent trigger, cheap mags, and built like a tank.   I think Bud's still has some for $350.   Heh... beaten to the punch by two minutes.

  24. I picked up a used Smith 5906 at the Smoky Mtn Gun Collectors show last month in Knoxville. It's an old LE trade in.   It has a decocker and I have 2- 17rd mags and 1-15 round. It is not too heavy considering it's stainless. I bought it mainly as a truck gun but I have even been carrying it sometimes. Good reliable weapon and is accurate as I am.    I paid $350 for it from a dealer out the door. I really like it.

  28. The square is just a bit of hardware (one of many), someone in the gun industry needs to open and run a gun friendly banking service with an app that can use the square or any other pay device.  Once banks see how much business they are losing out on they will sing a different tune.

  34.   They did, and they released the dogs.  Problem is, taking a dog from just hanging out to chasing someone down for the bite isn't an instantaneous action like pulling the trigger.  The reason that it works for LE and Military is because there are preparatory events which cue the dog into drive.  You can't just have a dog on a spring, waiting for a bite all day long.  Doesn't work that way.

  40. I do not participate in receipt checking.  I am not a thief and won't be treated like one.   I almost would not mind if they actually went through the stuff to see if it matched up with the receipt but they don't.  All they want to see is a todays date ticket.     Screw that.   I hope they go out of business over it.  Of course assuming the assaulted guy is actually innocent.

  46. Does your vehicle have a TN plate and maybe a NRA decal or some gun related sticker? I just have a feeling if it does you might as well put a big sign on it that says, "PULL ME OVER PLEASE?" AND,,, if you actually had any sort of firearm in any sort of storage in the vehicle N.J. cops would treat it like a big celebration party with you face down on the ground and handcuffed. That would "MAKE THEIR DAY".
