I've been on the lookout for an older Remy 700 30.06 ADL or BDL for a couple of years. Recently found this BDL vintage 1996. It's in excellent condition and came with a Leupold 4.5x15 VX scope.7 points

That's actually cheaper than buying a $49.99 blem from PSA once you add on shipping and transfer fee.3 points

Uncle Steve passed away last night from complications of heart attack 7 years ago. He is my wife's uncle but since getting married and my family is so far away he always was family to me. He was a big man with a big heart regardless of how his real heart felt. He would do anything for you and it didn't matter how long it's been since you'd talked you were his friend and he wanted to come say high. Yes that even means waving you down from across the Walmart parking lot just find out he played softball with your husband in the 80s. I appreciate any prayers for the family and travel for those of us that have to head to Upper E TN. John 11:25-26 Jesus said ..., "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die...."2 points

Ignorance knows no bounds. You know how many knuckle draggin’ rednecks I’ve had make stupid comments about Yankees when I told them I was Illinois? Yet those same rednecks heads almost explode when I tell them the SCOTUS can’t tell them they can strap on a gun and walk down the street; it’s a violation of States Rights. Who you are or what you believe is not defined by where you are from. The Jews weren’t the only ones that were tortured and killed during the war. And the Nazi’s weren’t the only bad guys; the Japanese were every bit as brutal. But its history; we should know it, we should remember it and we should teach our children the truth. I don’t think people that collect historical memorabilia necessarily align themselves with the group they are collecting. I collect guns, many people don’t understand why, don’t like it, and want to stop it.2 points

They probably just needed it for protection from the ribbing about those names. lol2 points

They sure are. I have no problem intimidating or beating the sh** outa someone who intimidates women and children. Those are called principles. I don't need a law to dictate that to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

I see. Have had hands on a squid rail before and thought it was the greatest thing ever. Always wanted something similar for a Midwest SS Gen 1 rail but that's it the really need to sell box.1 point

We were talking in chat a few nights ago about options for our Mini Dracos. We were talking about the Troy Squid rail too. It is a free float tube with holes in it and there are little round rubber orings that go in the holes that look like tentacle suckers. Well those little rubber orings are $21 for 7 of them, way too expensive to buy to mess with. Here is a picture of a Troy rail with the squid suckers. Picture from here:http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_19/586212_Troy_Industries_Squid_Grips___Flat_Dark_Earth__FDE_.html So I got to thinking and figured I could drill my own holes and add my own grommets to get the same benefits for a lot cheaper. So after searching eBay I decided I would take a chance and I ordered these from McMaster Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/#9600k26/=tspafc I did a test hole and they are going to look and feel great once installed. It may not look as professional as the Troy but I will have less than $15 in my rail which will be made out of a piece of 1.25" U channel that is 1/8" thick. That is if I have a couple of decent days. I also have some mini orings coming from China to try but they won't be here any time soon.1 point

The rubber grommets from McMaster Carr came in today. It is amazing, I swear they have a telepathic working for them and have my order packed and shipped before I know I am going to order. The grommets themselves are perfectly sized. They are not big enough to get two rows above one another but if I offset, like I had envisioned, they will work great. I drill a 25/64 hole and they pop right in and do not move at all. Now that I see how nice they are going to look I am seriously considering not painting the forearm black like I had wanted.1 point

Absolutely. For the price, I am very happy with it.1 point

Yes and no. Corrosive ammo is not difficult to clean up after but the chrome bore might allow you a little more time to do it. Kinda of a moot point if you consider the gas system is not chrome-lined and will rust up faster than you could ever believe. BTW, milsurp 7.62x39 is a rarity these days. However, I treat it all as corrosive after being burned a couple of years ago on NEW manufacture Russian ammo (KSAP). It is not only corrosive, it is seriously corrosive. Unfortunately, it's really good ammo. Anytime I get new 7.62 ammo I will shoot some, save a couple spent cases, then clean as if corrosive. If it's corrosive, the cases will show in a couple of days as they are steel.1 point

Sounds like he had all his bases covered very well. A man of good tastes to be sure. My grandfather had one old Springfield single shot 12 gauge with a bulge in the barrel, and the fore end duct taped to the barrel. It did double duty as a hunting gun, home defense, and won more than one turkey shoot. I was fortunate enough to heir it, and treasure it greatly.1 point

Clod Stomper, sounds like your granddad was a great man. I can tell he left some very honorable character traits in you, from those early years. You were lucky to have him around to impart his wisdom and integrity for those few years. I had a few more years with mine, and I'm very thankful for every one of them. You're absolutely right. The old JC Higgins is probably the least valuable (in money) gun I have, but I wouldn't part with it. Yea, I think you're right on the modifying of a chamber too. Upon second thought, common sense kicked in about who was the most qualified and knowledgeable about such things...the manufacturer.1 point

I just picked up the Anderson from EW. It was actually $59.99 + tax & TICS. It came to right at $75 OTD. Not as good of a deal as I had hoped, but not bad with you consider not transfer hassle and I got a free range coupon with the purchase. The quality & finish seem to be really good for the price.1 point

I don't like it. I think part of the representation of the law is to represent uniformity, to look like the law. We have police all across the country coming up win all kinds of tactical uniforms that remind me of third world military's. Someone could mistake this trooper for the slime ball they are looking for. Don't get me wrong, I hope they find this loser and coward quickly and should lock down the entire state if need be. I just think the law should look like he law, period.1 point

Meh, I collected a lot of Ba'ath/Saddam stuff from my time in Icrack. Plan on passing that stuff down to my boy or his first son someday. Doesn't mean I'm a Ba'athist or supported gassing of Kurds. Historical stuff is neat. In fact, I had two Eagle/Swasticker stamped Mausers when I was in Iraq. Hadn't been stamped over by the Turks, like most of the ones we came by. I tried bringing them back the right way but the Jagoff wouldn't let my paperwork go forward, because he was a sackless weasel. Would have loved to have that piece of history in my collection, right along side my hammer/sickle stamped Mosin and an M1.1 point

I've shot a lot of the Monarch .223 lacquered case steel and it's fine, highest FPS of 4 Russian rounds I did chrono on. AFAIK, all the Monarch lacquered steel calibers are rebranded Barnaul Brown Bear. - OS1 point

If the GFSZA could stand up to court review... yes anybody carrying a firearm in the vehicle including in some cases (long guns) permit holders would be in violation. Yet another bad law... Only good news... local DA's can't charge you under the GFSZA... you'd have to piss off a federal prosecutor.1 point

I have a daughter in dental school at Remington. She has an essay question, "Which of the ten Bill of Rights would you be willing to give up, and why?" Can I ask WTF that has to do with TEETH?!?!?! I told her "NONE. You are an American citizen, and you're not giving up ANY of your rights, and no one's taking them away from you, either!"1 point

My principles? You have no idea what those are. I absolutely believe in this douchebag's right to be armed as well as his right to free speech. There is no law against him walking with an unloaded rifle and body armor only feet from a school full of children. There's also no law against dressing up in a barely there speedo, a light coat of oil and a sign that says "Free Candy", and hang out right in front of an elementary school. I believe that the first amendment guarantees that. But if it's the school I drop my kid off at, I'm gonna bounce that dudes head off the pavement while I wait for the cops to get there. I believe that any man has the right to speak freely, to the point that I believe the 1st amendment protects the speech of any man to call my wife vulgar names. Doesn't mean I won't knock that person's teeth down their throat. This guy has taken what is legal to do, and he is using it as a tool of intimidation on innocent kids and parents. I don't need the Constitution or a bunch of laws to tell me what is right and wrong. I know what that is. When a grown man intimidates innocent women and children he needs to have his ass curb stomped. Those are my principles, sir. I mean exactly what I say here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

This guy seems to be stepping up his campaign: http://www.alan.com/2014/09/17/armed-open-carry-activist-walks-outside-nashville-high-school-wearing-bulletproof-vest/ Here he was yesterday prancing around in front of Hillsboro High School. I know he lost his job. I wonder if he's still married? His decision making paradigm is increasingly looking like that of someone who has nothing to lose.1 point

Great suggestion! I might go one step further though. I got a G17 frame off Gunbroker and now have a dedicated Glock in 22 cal. It's a blast to shoot. Recoil is almost non-existant with it.1 point

He desperately wants the Police to detain him. As Gallatin PD showed him, that will continue to happen. I don’t know why some cops seem to fear telling him, yes, he is being detained, and no, he is not free to leave. He is known to the cops, he has had his HCP pulled as a potential danger to the public, and he is carrying a rifle. Short of being an active shooter probable cause doesn’t get much better. He obviously has mental issues, I would guess he will either push this to the point of obstruction/resisting or he will end up being involuntarily taken into the mental health system.1 point
-
I know I joke about this, but he is going to end up getting shot. I think this idiot is emboldened by recent events and will be mistaken by a HCP holder as an active shooter if he keeps ratcheting it up to see how far he can take it. Has nothing to do with legality; he is a danger to himself and those around him.1 point

I grew up in a time where no one walked around with long guns. If someone was carrying a pistol I never saw it nor did anyone else. Walk around with a visible gun and wonder why you draw attention to yourself? How F'ing dumb are you?1 point

Ok first off I am not a TN resident just yet so I don't yet fully know or understand your laws but what does seem to be common is that instructors in different states do have a very common trait and that trait is that they talk out of their bum and don't know WTF they are talking about as that comment is one of the dumbest statements I've heard to date....1 point
