Yep, a good time was had by all. Nice folks and no pressure. It's always nice to put faces with TGO screen names, too. Thanks to wiljo05 for being my camera man. This was not a very good display of shooting prowess (cuz I don't have any yet!) but here's a little video of a stage from today. MCTS Steels M&P40 Pro: http://youtu.be/AX-E8XKR-FE5 points

So I remember one of our Presidents saying that we will go after and destroy terrorists wherever they call home. So, does that mean we are going to start bombing the hell out of Juarez Mexico? Maybe disrupt their plans of attack? I think not. The current admin doesn't want to anger anyone or hurt wittle feelings in defending our citizens from attack. Keep Your Powder Dry Boys!!! A&E Network has cancelled the show "Longmire" Just saw this on a web news page. One of the few decent shows on, but network execs would rather show these pieces of crap "reality" shows. I'm Pissed.3 points

They're just gearing up to introduce some new invasive "anti-terrorist" measure that will do nothing to stop terrorism but a whole lot to oppress American citizens (the Brits are up to it too). Just wait and see.2 points

My Powder stays dry Dave and my weapons remain locked and loaded. As far as I'm concerned first car bomb set off on that border should be the last and the order to shoot to killed should be issued and that order should be for all forms of law enforcement, Military and even land owners on the border. It's time to give Washington DC a lesson on how you close a border and keep it closed.........jmho I look for it to possibly take place in about 12 days on the anniversary of 9/11...........jmho2 points

When you know their driving is putting your kids in danger that isn't a "small thing" to get upset about. That is your kids' lives dude. And when some lunatic is on your ass while you're driving you must understand that the laws of physics apply, and if you must react to a road condition your kids may be severely injured or killed because the guy behind you is an immature lunatic. Yeah, it's a big deal. I happen to love my kids very much, and I get quite upset when someone threatens their safety. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

First, folks are reading this opinion the wrong way... The motion to dismiss seems to be the first motion this judge ruled on... While the judge chooses to add a lot of color commentary to the opinion... none of that matters... All that matters was he dismissed the case.. and that is a good thing. Keep in mind a lot of other issues were not covered by this order... They never considered a motion over the search of the locked container... Over the probable cause on whether the rifle was loaded, and even if it was load was Leonard in violation of the law... The specific probable cause to believe the silencer was illegal to begin with... If he survives summary judgement of a 1983 lawsuit... he's likely to have a field day with MNPD and TDOS as part of the discovery process... What people knew and when did they know it will become a key point I suspect... all sorts of interesting facts could come out that might embarrass those 2 departments. He can show real damages this time, loss of his business, and loss of his job... I see MNPD having some issues: 1. The search was likely unconstitutional under current case law, locked case, they had control of it, and still ripped it open to get a look inside before having a warrant... they're on record saying they did that to verify if the weapon was loaded or not... I don't see how they fit into a valid exigent circumstance to perform the search... If found to have been an unlawful search, the arrest is likely in question to begin with. 2. The contention that he was a threat... We've all seen video tape of news reporters walking up to Leonard between the 2nd and 3rd stops that day... and having significant conversation/interview with the news... The police appear to have testified they were aware of this interaction and used that as an excuse to stop him a 3rd and final time... Not sure how they're going to be able to reasonably say he was threaten when a news crew felt comfortable enough to approach him on a sidewalk, and have a 5+ minute chat with him... I'm also curious what type of information maybe found during discovery... if there is even a HINT that they stopped him a third time because he was talking to reporters... that may open the department up to a bigger lawsuit. I'm a little surprised that angle wasn't pushed even more during the testimony over the motion to dismiss, it seems the officer opened himself up to the line of questioning by mentioning the press as a reason for greater alarm. 3. The handing out of literature may well give rise to a possible prior restraint violation... Leonard is an idiot... he's IMHO not a very good lawsuit fisherman... But at the end of the day it's likely that MNPD and possibly TDOS violated his rights that day... the video and audio evidence in any civil case is going to make it hard for officers to prove he was a threat to them or anybody else... he wasn't abusive to them, he was handing out 2nd amendment literature, and stated that was his intent for being dressed the way he was and carrying the rifle case... Since TDOS clearly knew who he was at the 2nd stop... and one can assume they knew he had a history of shall we say legally exercising his 2nd amendment rights... it's going to be hard to prove everything after they became aware of that fact is going to be lawful... IMHO he shouldn't have a problem finding a good attorney to take this case... minimum it's got to be worth 50-100k and if they survive summary judgement at the federal level, it's likely to be worth over a million.2 points

I hate people on the phone too. Anyone who rides a motorcycle knows what I am talking about. If someone almost kills me while I am on my bike, there is a better than 95% they have their cell phone plastered to the side of their face, or worse yet, are texting while driving down the interstate. It should be legal to mount photon torpedoes to the front of your vehicle for these people.2 points

Charter Cable is digital now and you have to get a DAC box from them to connect between your incoming cable and tv. Problem is my tv has one HDMI input and the digital box takes this one. So the question is how do I connect a DVD player that has HDMI, USB and component outputs to a tv with one HDMI and one USB and one set of component inputs? What is a component output/input? Will a USB cable work? What is the best way to connect everything up? Thanks for any answers!1 point

Rooster sausage, I remember my grant annt making these. She would that the rooster and hold it by it's legs upside down, then she would lower it down to the ground till the neck just touched the ground ( they always held their head at a 90 deg angle) and then she would lay a stick over it's head and put her foot on the stick and then pull up on the rooster and the head was off. She then took the bird ( after it ran around and bleed out) and laid it on it's back and pinched the breast skin on both sides right below the neck and pulled apart, the skin can right off. She would then take and cut all the meat off the bird and grind it in a hand grinder. Then she would add her splices and grind it agian. She would add some flour and corn meal an egg and make these great sausage patties. What memory.1 point

I'm pretty sure you'll like it. I've owned several Sig 1911s and found them to be just about my favorite 1911. At least for stock, out of the box guns. At any rate, good looking addition to your firearms family. BTW, I currently have a Tacops and a Nightmare in the stable.1 point

I think you should put on the factory grips and send me the others. ;) I personally like them all.1 point

Exactly. That's why I'm more at ease when I see HCP status (not saying that they showed it to me...open wallet, computer, etc.). Safety-wise, I really don't care if they show it to me or not. A smart cop assumes everyone has a gun. That's what makes me laugh everytime I hear stories of cops, on traffic stops, saying "You should have told me."1 point

Maybe. But I think this one would be put right in BO's lap. He has intentionally kept the border wide open. On top of that I don't think he cares. Chaos is the order of the day. Fundamental transformation and all that.1 point

We should start a pool whenever intelligence leaks like this come out and bring attention to an issue which stands in contrast to Obama policy: Will Obama downplay, ignore or divert? I'm gonna go with downplay on this one. Perhaps he'll refer to them as JV terrorist or similar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I have a turret press and plan on sticking with it instead of upgrading to a progressive (RCBS turret). For rifle I use it strictly as a single stage and it is capable of producing consistent sub MOA ammo no problem even with the little bit of flex in a turret. I do use the turret feature for my pistol reloads. 200ish rounds an hour once I get going. Turret is a good compromise for speed and accurate ammo and a much cheaper price point than a full progressive. I own several reloading manuals - the Lee is a pretty good all around manual, also have Hornady, Hodgdon yearly magazine/manuals, Nosler, Speer and Sierra. Most of what I shoot for my AR are Sierra bullets so that manual gets the most use in conjunction with the Hodgdon manual for cross reference. And use mfg data from their websites - usually print off the page I want and keep it in my notebook.1 point

I know many of us here believe the charges in his case should have been dropped and never filed because he didn't violate any firearms laws and I still believe that. That being said, the day this clown does violate a law that is actually on the books and legitimatly charged with a crime i'll celebrate along with everyone else. I would love to be that little devil on his shoulder that says in his ear, that cop is in your face, go ahead and shove him back away from you. I don't condone shoving LEO's but I would bet the LEO he shoved wouldn't mind that at all. I'm all for getting this idiot off the street and out of the media but it has to be legit or it will just be dropped again and he will be back in the news.1 point

Why get all upset when an actor makes a statement like that? Don’t give it any more mileage; his opinion means nothing.1 point

From one year ago....https://www.smith-wesson.com/wcsstore/SmWesson2/upload/other/LA_SDPR_LA%20Approved.pdf I guess the LASD and S&W made up. BTW, it took about 3 seconds of Googling to find that.1 point

Aha, he's back up. Looking at his list of chain of events regarding this charge, I see the hearing I've been mentioning was actually indeed after the preliminary hearing, and he wasn't actually indicted and arraigned until May of this year, wow. I've said in the past that I don't think looking for the pay day has really been his primary focus all along. I think the guy really is pathological, some kind of Spartacus/Sacrificial Gun Christ complex. - OS1 point

One car length at 40-70 mph IS tailgating. The safe following distance at 70 MPH is more like 4 seconds than one car length. You have to consider your reaction time and your braking distance. But, heck, I can't get people to drive 1 car length behind me in parking lots. :D1 point

Thanks guys for the ideas. I'll look at some online items, and maybe WallyWorld and Gasp! , even Bass Pro. I feel so good this morning after the checkup...4 and a half years leukemia and cancer free! I might splurge and buy from Bass Pro!1 point

I like the sentiment, but I think it would fail to achieve the ends of forcing the city to make sure they do right. I don't want Embody to be rewarded for his fishing expedition, but I also want the city to be heavily sanctioned for placing themselves on his hook. How do you sufficiently sanction the latter in such a manner that they don't do it again while not rewarding the former? I find myself having to take the position that malfeasance by the state is a worse crime than being a fucking douchebag.1 point

I haven't been pulled over in over 20 years, I just thought if I did get pulled over while the LEO was walking up to my vehicle I would roll the window down and stick my head out and yell real loud, I HAVE A GUN......I HAVE A GUN.......... That should let them know you are armed. :)1 point

The problem with this guy is he's just smart enough not to get himself shot. Oh well, one can dream.1 point

Its not something I'm worried about, I agree with peace, if you just got involved in a SD shooting, your gun being registered to you will be pretty far down on the things to worry about. I've slowly gotten to where most my firearms are "off book" - including the two I carry daily.1 point
-
I’m not sure why you think it would matter? Where the gun came from will have zero impact on a shooting and I don’t really think my carry gun is going to be confiscated for any period of time unless I’m going to trial, in which case the cost of the gun will be pretty insignificant compared to lawyer bills.1 point
