  1. A man walks out to the street and catches a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cabbie says, "Perfect timing. You're just like Frank." Passenger: "Who?" Cabbie: "Frank Feldman... he's a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like that to Frank Feldman every single time."... Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody." Cabbie: "Not Frank Feldman. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone, and danced like a Broadway star. And you should have heard him play the piano! He was an amazing guy." Passenger: "Sounds like he was somebody really special." Cabbie: "Oh heck, there's more. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order, and which fork to eat it with. And he could fix anything---. Not like me---I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman, he could do everything right." Passenger: "Wow, some guy then." Cabbie: "He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Frank, he never made mistakes, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never argue back, even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! I never knew him to make a mistake! No one could ever measure up to Frank Feldman." Passenger: "An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?" Cabbie: "Well... I never actually met Frank. He died, and I married his wife."

  5. Shelbyville Lumber is now selling guns. I didn’t have time to look, was picking up some stuff for work, but Shelbyville Lumber co is now selling guns. I noticed some AR’s and counter cases of handguns in a gun room. I can see it now. Honey, I picked up that lumber for the bathroom remodel, but it was about $1000 more than we had estimated.

  8. If I'm reasonably well dressed and out eating I've started politely asking managers at places that are currently posted if they would like to change their mind to win a customer and get added to the "posted!" app as a non-posted alternative. I've had one business owner get angry b/c someone else had apparently stickered his business without asking him and one manager that removed the gunbuster while I stood there.(and it has stayed down) I've found that if they see the app and realize how easy it is for me to find a gun friendly alternative on the handy map and dine elsewhere(across the parking lot in some cases) that all of a sudden they don't so much like being on the list of restaurants I won't patronize. I've also talked to several that won't budge but I'm always very respectful of their opinions and thank them for taking the time to speak to a potential customer.

  12.   I like folders but there are just some uses where I trust a fixed blade more.  I guess that comes from, as a teenager, having one of my razor-sharp pocket knives close up on me while using it.  I don't think a person is meant to see their own knuckle bone.   I might not even 'carry' the longer, fixed blade on me all the time.  Sometimes but not all the time.  The ability to keep one or two in my vehicles at all times without worrying about legal trouble would be nice.

  14. Honestly, I am kinda 'meh' about autos being legal (I think they should be legal but probably won't start carrying one.) To me, the more exciting part of the bill is the removal of length restrictions. In the past, couple of years there have been several knives that I would have liked to have considered for EDC except that they had blades longer than 4 inches. I am not even thinking of such blades for knife fighting as I have no training in such (although I would attempt to defend myself with one if given no choice.) I am thinking more of just a good knife to have on me for general purpose use. I am also not necessarily talking about something with a twelve inch blade. It is just that sometimes it seems like a blade that is around five or six inches in length would be more useful than one limited to four inches or less. I think the Green River Dadley style knife I picked up at a historical day last year would be a good EDC knife (especially as that is what many settlers used it for) but the blade is around five inches long. Here is the Dadley pictured with a Mora Companion:

  18. If you're looking to carry weight for fitness, and you're here in Nashville, I'd really recommend getting fitted for a pack as opposed to trying to order one.  REI in Brentwood can do a pretty good job of this, and have plenty of packs for all body types.  Yeah, it sounds like you might be looking at a youth sized pack.   I don't know how your sewing skills are, but you really ought to consider sewing up some 5-10 lbs. sandbags if you're going to be carrying them on a regular basis.  If you get fitted for a pack, you'll see what I mean, as you cannot be fit for a pack appropriately without adding weight to it.  The weight ought to sit close to your back, and then you can add some filler material (pillows) to the outside are to keep it in place.  Between pack fit and appropriate weight distribution, these are the two main areas that make a pack uncomfortable.  Get it right and you'll have a good experience.   Just to be clear, when you get a pack that fits you and get it loaded appropriately, the majority of the weight should be as close to your back as you can get it.  This puts it more naturally in line with your body and is much better for balance.  Second, those shoulder straps are just there for stability.  If that pack is going to ride comfortably, the weight should be carried on your hips, distributed evenly by the hip belt.  If the pack is digging into your shoulders because the hip belt is sub par or isn't doing its job, you're going to fatigue a lot more quickly.   I'd definitely suggest getting fit for one professionally.  Packs aren't cheap.  You're a lot more likely to stick with one that actually fits you.

  20. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ptac-16-mid-length-5-56mm-1-9-upper-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html   Yea, $189!!  No, it's not fancy or anything, but if you've got a built out lower or two and some BCGs just sittin' in a drawer somewhere (like I do) then this may just be too good of a deal to pass up!  I've got a built poly lower that I've been wanting to build in to a cheap, lightweight fungun.  I almost bought one of the $300 PSA uppers last week but decided to wait... glad I did!   I know some folks poo-poo the PTAC stuff.  That's fine.  I have a PTAC complete upper on my other AR and it has been GREAT!  Well built and running like a top since I slapped it on a lower about 1,200 rounds ago.   Unfortunately, they didn't have any cheap/basic charging handles or rear sights in stock.  If anybody has one or both in good condition and uh... reasonably inexpensive :nervous:  please PM me.    Anywho, just thought I'd pass the deal along.  I thought it may have been an April fools' joke, but I checked out and got my confirmation email!  Happy shootin'!

  23. So, I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy.  A friend of mine has a one as well, but about a year older than mine.  I gave her a hard time about a  orange bandana she put on hers, telling her that it looked to feminine.    Well, for a April fool joke,  she and another young woman thought they would hang out outside my house this morning and wait for me to let my dog out.   When he went out, they thought they could put a pink bandana on him,  and I would be surprised when he came back in and wonder where in the world this pink bandana came from,  all the while they would sneak away.     Here's what happened.   They had been outside my house since 5 a.m. waiting since they know what time I get up on my work days.   Also,  you should know I live on five acres out in the county beside a big farm and river.    When I was getting ready to leave about 6:15,  I let my pup out.   He took off in normal fashion, announcing to the world he was out and barking at birds.   All of a sudden I heard him yelping.   I stuck my head out the door with my feet in my untied shoes.   He came running back to the house hunkered down and tail between his leg.   I started out the door and then thought "gun".   I grabbed mine out of my brief case type satchel  and took off to investigate.    I was expecting another dog, coyote, or the like.   As I got to the end of my house, looking toward the woods I caught something in my peripheral vision.  I look over and it was a PERSON!  Not being what I expected at all it took a second for my mind to process.     I eased my gun into my pocket.  Then another gal stepped out.   They were surprised because it had not gone as they expected, but the were still tickled by the surprised look on my face.   The one said slowly, " what was that you put in your coat pocket".   With a big smile I revealed my gun.   They have known me for years and did not know I carry.   They were in shock.   Funny thing is, one of them even said when  they told their aunt of their plans,  the aunt warned them to tell my wife of their plans because I might come out with a gun.

  28. I normally agree with your take on most issues, but on this one, I disagree.  I propose that if there was a vote on gun rights issues, we would see basically the percentage that elected Haslam in the last governor's race go for the ability to keep, bear and wear arms, about the same number that voted to approve the hunting and fishing amendment in that same plebiscite.  The Volunteer State is still more rural than citified, and as such I believe we would carry the issue in favor of firearms Rights.

If you did not get a mark on the primers in DA or SA slide-cocked mode then I would strongly suspect something with the firing pin block or transfer lever. I have worked on hundreds of sigs and would be glad to look at it / fix it for you for free if you swing by the Lebanon area.

  32. think the sellers that have 22 will ride out their pricing as long as they can get away w it. As long there's a demand and supply is scarce, they'll do it. It's no different than aces selling plywood at 40 bucks a sheet after a natural disaster. Buyers will buy till it's gone or plentiful elsewhere. ####ty thing to do but If ya go back and read through the this shop sucks threads,we should realize most of the shops don't care. Their way or the highway. The thrifty choice is going to be obvious. I'm sure dude got a deal buying 1000 bricks or whatever fits on a pallet bottom line is who has it,who doesn't and who's willing to pay for it. If I had the money I'd invest in 22 ammo manufacturing....in china.... One thing I have found interesting about ammo and lgs: most don't ever address legit complaints made about them or a scenario online. Bitch about a problem with ie r/c suppliers and archery stuff, they get real proactive to handle a legit issue quietly instead of allowing it drag on. Because they care. They want business, they want happy customers. "were a lgs, we don't care what u think" seems to prevail.. L

  36.   The wealthy, educated liberals are, often, firmly convinced that they are members of the elite, and are destined to rule over us all with their superior intellect. It's one of the reasons they often go absolutely ballistic if their intelligence or judgement or ideas are even QUESTIONED.    They are not aware, however, that the truly evil people pushing the communist New World Order will just add the skulls of the "liberal elite" to the pile of skulls they will create.

  37. It's the standard that is being applied that is absolutely absurd & it could be applied to any other firearm ever manufactured ... so potentially every single firearm in the United States which could have their serial numbers obliterated "in one minute with hand tools" fails to meet that ridged standard. I don't trust poly lowers, never have even thought about owning a poly lower since the Carbon-15 fiasco, but this is beyond stupid, this is potentially serious trouble as they go down the list invalidating the legality of this model & that model, which ever they want it applied to essentually,
    1 point
  38. Wow!?! Really?!? Serial numbers can be obliterated on any firearm "in just one minute" by anyone who desires to do so with a dremel tool or hammer & chisel or any other common tool that could mark/mar metal ... This is bullshit, absolute bullshit.

  40. Resellers are supposes to attach the ammo tax stamp to each box of ammo for sale. If a game warden finds you selling it without the tax stamp, he will confiscate the ammo and the state will auction it. If you are selling ammo like at a gun show, you can buy the tax stamps by contacting the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. I think they come 100 to a sheet for $10.00.

  41. There is an ammo tax but I am seeing more & more LGS selling .22 in ziplock bags without a stamp.  I have also gotten ammo at Walmart, Sportsman's Warehouse & Academy without a stamp.  I would bring it in and not worry about it.  We are not Washington DC and unless you pick a fight our LEOs will not care.  We worry about more important things here, like deer season and if the corn crop will produce enough to keep the shiners happy. 45. Anything, but American made mags. You won't save money going with US mags and they have proven to be hit and miss on reliability, fit, and durability. Com-bloc mags are like AK's ... they just work.   The Magpuls are interesting but I'll wait till they come out with the Gen2's that have the metal reinforcement tabs like the Bulgarian Circle 10's, the pinnacle of the AK mag world. Toth Tool is also coming out with a Circle 10 quality mag that promises to be interesting depending on cost. I would also stay away from the KCI (Korean Mags). Outside of Tapco's, they are the only mags I've had feed issues out of.
