  1. A man boarded an airplane and took his seat. As he settled in, he glanced up and saw the most beautiful woman boarding the plane. He soon realized she was heading straight towards his seat. As fate would have it, she took the seat right beside his. Eager to strike up a conversation he blurted out, "Business trip or pleasure?" She turned, smiled and said, "Business. I'm going to the Annual Nymphomaniacs of America Convention in Boston " He swallowed hard. Here was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen sitting next to him, and she was going to a meeting of nymphomaniacs. Struggling to maintain his composure, he calmly asked, "What's your business role at this convention?" "Lecturer," she responded. "I use information that I have learned from my personal experiences to debunk some of the popular myths about sexuality." "Really?" he said. "And what kind of myths are there?" "Well," she explained, "one popular myth is that African-American men are the most well-endowed of all men, when in fact it is the Native American Indian who is most likely to possess that trait. Another popular myth is that Frenchmen are the best lovers, when actually it is men of Jewish descent who are the best. I have also discovered that the lover with absolutely the best stamina is the Southern Redneck." Suddenly the woman became a little uncomfortable and blushed. "I'm sorry," she said, "I shouldn't really be discussing all of this with you. I don't even know your name." "Tonto," the man said, " Tonto Goldstein , but my friends call me Bubba."

  2. Christian baker is vilified and sued because he chooses not to do business with a gay couple.   Gay hair stylist refuses to do business with NM Gov. Martinez because she believes marriage is between a man and a woman, and for some strange reason, that's OK.   This is a GLARING double standard, but it's what we've come to expect from the looney left.     http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3128921/posts

  3. I'm betting that Gov. Martinez will do the mature and responsible thing, and simply go find another hair stylist, as opposed to the gay couple, who acted like three-year-olds who didn't get their way and decided to abuse the legal system and take the baker to court over their hurt feelings.

  4. YYYYYAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!! Got 2 boxes of Federal 38gr copper plated HP for $3.99 ea. They still had about a dozen boxes left at 4:45, but they didn't expect it to last another 30 mins. They told me they got 8 of the 1,400rd Bucket O' Bullets in today, and they lasted til just after 10am. I was a bit miffed 'cuz I begged wifey to visit the store this morning since she (teacher) had the day off. She didn't go. :squint: Oh well. I'm not a .45 man, but I know many are. They had Monarch 230gr fmj brass for $18.99/50. That's good even by Wal-Mart standards, IMHO. Also, as many may already know, they price dropped their DRT ammo by $3-5/box across all calibers. I think 9mm was $15.99/20 and 40 was $16.99/20. I'm tempted, but I'm just not sold on lightweight frangible whiz-bang ammo. Instead, I grabbed the last two boxes of Federal 9mm 147gr FTX for $17.99/25. Happy ammo hunting!!

  6. Whoa, folks:  several of you are mistakenly looking at the Bill Summary section 6, instead of the actual Bill language (found here: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/108/Bill/HB1883.pdf).  The summary does not reflect the Bill's actual Sections 1-6 in its list - rather, it simply presents six bullet points summarizing the overall features of the bill.  The amendment does NOTHING to change the initial Bill's effect on being able to order, purchase, possess, etc switchblades or knives over 4" long - see my post #532 (just about 6 above this one) for an accurate description of the effect of the amendment, which is merely to delete the proposal that use of such a weapon would constitute a new Class D felony.

  7. I guess I'll never understand any of it.  No one has the right to tell another what they can and cannot do, so long as WHAT they are doing is not hurting someone else.   THe ONLY thing I should be bound by law to do when it comes to someone else's lifestyle is ignore it provided it is not interfering with my ability to live MY lifestyle.     Stupid.  All of this is mind numbingly STUPID.

  13. That should serve as a great reminder of exactly who the Republicans within the Tennessee legislature think they work for.  It sure as heck isn't "we the people."   They all need to hear their names mentioned in the same sentence as Debra Maggart's a little more often.  And if we'd toss 3 or 4 of them under the bus every cycle - maybe just maybe they'd start to come around in a decade or so.

  19.   I'll do you one better. Lets keep the possibility for obtaining a HCP for cross-state compatibility, initiate constitutional carry in TN, and then make it illegal to use a firearm to do something illegal. Win-Win!   In high school in one class we had a "conversation" that was based on the fact someone stabbed someone with a swiss army knife on school property. The teacher was asking "what could be done" to prevent things like that happening in the future. I told him that they should just make it against the law to stab someone, and he responded that it already was.   I responded with "And a lot of good that did".

  20. Sounds about what I was getting only advice I can give is use the heaviest bullet you can it will be the longest one which will help stabilize the bullet better. The rifling in these old Mausers is different than modern rifles and don't shoot lighter bullets as well as heaver ones. I know you most likely already know this but for the benefit of others that may read this thread wanted to point this out.

So, medical marijuana laws faced the same argument.  How have those states been successful in evading the feds?  Soon after those laws were passed the citizens of those states said F you to the .gov.   I'm surprised that we don't have as big of balls in the firearm community.   Although, I reckon most of those supporters were probably breaking the law before and really didn't care?

  31. i was reading it on THE BLAZE, they are not sure yet but this is what they say - a letter does exist   UPDATE: A spokesperson with the Special Licensing and Firearms Unit of the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection told TheBlaze that a letter has been drafted to send to gun owners who are found to be in possession of unregistered semi-automatic rifles deemed illegal by the state’s new gun control law. However, “not a one” letter has been sent out so far. The spokesperson, who didn’t want to identify herself, refused to comment on the content of the draft letter. When we asked what other action the state plans to take against owners of unregistered so-called “assault rifles, the spokesperson said we should contact the governor’s office because that’s where they get their orders from. It’s not clear if the letter published by the Capitalism Institute is authentic, though we can confirm a draft letter does exist. – After tens of thousands of defiant gun owners in Connecticut chose not to register their semi-automatic rifles to comply with a hastily-passed gun control law, the state is now taking some action. Officials are reportedly notifying gun owners who submitted late applications that they have one last chance to get rid of their “illegal” weapons. State officials did accept some gun registration applications that were submitted after the Jan. 4 deadline, however, not all late applications were accepted, the Journal Inquirer reports. “But rather than turn that information over to prosecutors, state officials are giving the gun owners a chance to get rid of the weapons and magazines,” the report adds. So gun owners who actually tried to register their guns and magazines, intentionally late or not, are now on the state’s radar for owning guns that became illegal overnight. Owning an unregistered semi-automatic rifle or high-capacity magazine that was legal prior to Jan. 3 is now a class D felony under the new law.

  36. If you are so simple as to not understand that money drives the legislature, then there is no help for you.  In another thread where you insinuated that all that had to happen was getting the folks to call, I posted the names, e-mail addresses of the committee that has the choke hold on this non-bill, (which you evidently do not understand yet). Have you spoken to them? You continue to mouth off about how this is the golden opportunity to regain our rights in Tennessee, but there is no push from any legislator to do so, and I have told you that from the time the bill was first put up.  That ticked you off, but I talked to every friendly legislator up there and they told me then it was a charade, which I reported here and you high headed off giving me crap about it.  Did you talk to anyone or simply flap your gums on the interweb? I made the statement about the lottery in semi-jest, as I do not have enough personal money to outspend the Chamber and Fed Ex. Notice I never mentioned 32 million dollars, that was your figure from my mention of 1.6 million hunters, (well add in 500K HCP holders too that on average donate nothing either), but it was used simply to show that we have the strength if we would but use it.  You took the bit and acted an ass about it, when what I said was correct.   You did intone that there was something up with money:   I don't have to bounce anything off of John, what exactly was your intention there if not to besmirch? I am a Board Member, I know exactly what is in the PAC, and it is not enough to make a dent against the Chamber and Amazon. Twice in this run you have mentioned John Harris and money.  Nobody ask anyone to send any money to any person in this organization.  He and I both refuse to be paid for speaking anywhere or being reimbursed for our gas to get there.  We do have a PAC which a lot of trouble to manage and do all the reporting, I am the treasurer on another with Tea Party, and can attest to the time and trouble it takes to keep it legal and up to date.  It opens me to enhanced scrutiny in both cases from the IRS and State officials.   You want to put in that much time and effort into the fight fine, otherwise it might be prudent to listen to those who are actively involved and have been for years here. I have offered you two scenarios that would helpo lead to gaining what it is you seek, and not once have you asked how you could get involved to make a difference. I am dealing with a very sick wife, and a Mother put into Memory Care by meth thugs that ran over my aged parents, I still work a 60 hour week.  I think what I will do is back out of this forum and you can see what you can achieve.

Head on over to copblock.org and post it there.   Second, it doesn't involve Tennessee or at least have a tangential connection to the firearms community. It is nothing more than a "hey look at this bad cop" post.

  40. I understand... I would look at upping the powder charge a hair more if ya still have tumblin problems while keepin a close watch on the swelling of the base of the spent rounds...   I would recommend takin a dial or digital caliper and measurin the diameter of a freshly resized round right above the extractor groove and noting the reading... I would measure my spent reload hulls at the same place after shootin them and watch for signs of expansion there...   When i saw 0.002 or more expansion in the fired cases; i would quit goin up and back the load down a couple of tenths of a grain...   The limit is generally taken at .002; and some even say .0015; but ya need a real tenth reading micrometer to read those kinds of numbers... A regular $25.00 dial or digital caliper will read to a thousandth (0.001) pretty easily...   Now, havin said all that; some folks simply aint comfortable with goin above published reloading data (...and some of 'em may well speak up about this method...); and i understand that... The fact is that the ballistic guys determine the upper limits of lots of reloads by measurin the case head expansion many times; especially in rifles...   Hope this helps... leroy

  42. The amendment removes section 6 as noted - and in doing so, removes what would have been a potentially problematic fiscal note.  As amended, teh bill now carries a "not significant" fiscal note, which should greatly enhance its chances in Finance Cmte.   The text from Section 6: SECTION 6. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 39-17-1307, is amended by adding the following new subsection (e) and by redesignating accordingly: (e) (1) A person commits an offense who employs a switchblade knife during the commission of, attempt to commit, or escape from a dangerous offense as defined in § 39-17-1324. (2) A violation of this subsection (e) is a Class D felony   The fiscal note attached to this now-deleted section indicated that there was a possible increased state expenditure of $5000/incarceration stemming from the new felony, with no significant increase in revenues coming into the state tied to any portion of the bill.  This "negative cash flow" is usually very unpalatable to Finance Cmte unless it is already contemplated in the budget - which is not the case here.  Therefore, removing Section 6 removes the new felony, thus removing any new incarcerations and the resulting projected costs.

  43. I think we need to propose a compromise solution for the guns in parks bill.  The licensed carriers get to carry in all parks, but the illegal carriers are still banned.   Seriously, how many of the misinformed fence-sitters in the General Assembly might actually vote for it if we presented the option that local governments still get to post signs that specify, "unpermitted carry of weapons prohibited" or "illegal possession of weapons prohibited"?

  45. What, the primers?   Small pistol and small rifle are identical as far as external dimensions. As long as your pistol will ignite the small rifle primers you can use them instead of small pistol. A 1911 hammer generally has enough energy to ignite small rifle primers. I do know that Rugers striker fired pistols generally do not have enough energy to ignite small rifle primers 100% of the time. And if I remember correctly Glocks also have a problem igniting small rifle primers. My Taurus 24/7 in 9mm ignites CCI400 small rifle primers easily. I use small rifle primers in everything, all my pistols ignite them fine and all my rifles ignite them without issue as well. I have not tried Tula small rifle magnum yet in the Taurus yet so I am unsure if they will work but the 1911 ignites them just fine.   With that being said make sure to follow normal reloading practices. IE, start low and load to the velocity you are looking for. You cannot rely on primers for signs of pressure because small rifle primers take more pressure before they show signs. As long as you are using appropriate powder and within the velocity range for the cartridge you are safe. Even using small pistol primers in a pistol is not a guarantee you will see pressure signs before something bad happens.  I recommend a chronograph to anyone who is reloading because it is such a critical tool in determining safe, as well as consistent, loads that anyone who reloads one should have access to one.   Now large pistol and large rifle do not interchange. If you install a large rifle into a pistol case it will not be flush and if you try to chamber they will not chamber. You also run the risk of the primer going off as it is being chambered and any out of battery ignition is very, very bad. And if you install a large pistol in a rifle case it will be too deep for a primer to ignite the primer in most cases.

  46. 4.2 grains is MAX according to VV.     Yep, that is all I use anymore. I have probably 1K of small pistol and about the same of large pistol. I prefer small pistol because I can use small rifle primers. Eliminates the need to buy large pistol to shoot 45 ACP.
