  1. Screw him and his family. If he wasn't a useless pile of ghetto ćrap, he wouldn't have got shot. If the family would have raised him to be something better than a steaming pile of ghetto ćrap, he wouldn't have got shot. "Ohh he was a good kid!" ....waawaawaa, piss on him and good enough for him.

  3.   I met a young lady the other day while traveling.  Shortly after we started talking and she told me she was in Nashville because she tried to kill herself half a dozen or so times.  While I looked at her in disbelief she then told me she had been abused in many different ways by multiple family members.  I'm sure I had a priceless look on my face when she told me I hadn't blinked in a few minutes.  She had a very outgoing(obviously), beautiful personality and had a new, wonderful outlook on life.  I really didn't know what to say except I was really glad she hadn't been successful in killing herself and that the privilege was all mine in getting to meet her.  She said she had been in therapy multiple times but it wasn't until she came to Nashville to a faith based therapy that found her own healing through Christ.  It is a small reminder to me that I have such wonderful family and friends.  I can't begin to imagine not having the safety and comfort of my father and mother as a child and through my young adult life.     I decided to give to her personally through the home and to give to the home where she stays this year.  I have a lot to be thankful for and she really made a difference in my life.   Tw

  5. Tonight is the first night of Chanukkah, the celebration of the Hebrew Maccabees victory over the greeks and the return of the jews to the temple in jerusalem. This is also the only time that chanukkah will coincide with Thanksgiving for another 750000 years!! Both holidays about freedom of religion - how wonderful to see them happen at the same time!

  6. I took my new Marlin 444 out for a little stroll today. It got its first blood. This little doe crossed the field at 133 yards, and I introduced her to the hot rod 444.

  7. Wife just informed me that she snagged some pictures of me and the boy when we got back to the cabin. (yeah yeah, the wife went along, shaddup..lol). Anyway, if anyone is squeamish or letting someone that is look over your shoulder, be warned. Figured I would post that I'm doing my part passing along tradition. He got really tested today when we butchered them here on the carport when we couldn't hold the knifes anymore. Freaking cold!

  8. http://www.ralphbristol.com/player.asp?id=472 He wants to build a self supporting ammunition plant in Tn. The link above has an audio clip of his interview with talk radio host Ralph Bristol. This would be VERY awesome. Bring jobs and revenue as well as taking care of our needs in a worse case scenario. Man'o'man! How nice would it be to have brass, powder and primers made right here?

  9. Much to be thankfull here and I am reminded of this every day. I'd like to share a story with you all that involved me this afternoon. I work in east Nashville. Not the "cool part" of town with all the hipsters either. Today one of our local homeless came into my shop. Sort of. He made it to the door and could go no further. Seeing him in our doorway, hunched over and clutching himself, I knew something was wrong. As I approached, asking repeatedly if he was ok or if he needed help, he said "I think I'm having a heart attack!" Now I'd like mention I know this man. He's a local homeless who I have removed repeatedly from our store. Honestly he is an aggressive pan handler and kind of an all around ass. Had he said about anything else, its likely I would have told him to tell his story walking. My father has lived and suffered with numerous cardial issues for over a decade. There were a few times over the past years when I was living in CA that I wondered if I would ever see him again. As I got closer to the homeless man, he collapsed quite literally in my arms. Guiding him gently to the floor, I instructed one of my employees to call 911. After making sure he was breathing I also dialed our local low cost/no cost clinic as they are across the street. One of their doctors and two nurses were at my door giving care before we were even through to a 911 operator. The nurse was familiar with the man and started talking to him by name as the doctor did whatever it is doctor do, and the man responded by answering all questions the same way "I want to die, god let me die". The nurse told him that he wasn't going to die today, god had other plans for him. Upon hearing that I piped in "that's right, if god wanted you dead today he would have left you out in the fucking alley, but he brought you here to me instead". I'd like to point out that I am not a very religious or spiritual man, I would say that I'm a non-believer except I accept my own ignorance to the matter and choose instead to just wait and see. I don't know why I said what I said, I couldn't help it, it just came out. The ambulance arrived and got him loaded up. Before they left they asked me if I could throw away the empty bottle of Popov, or whatever cheap vodka it was. Oddly enough it was a mirror twin to the empty bottle I found in the parking lot this morning. I've spent the rest of the day wondering if he really did have a heart attack, or just drunk and cold. I'm guessing the former, this guy has ZERO problem getting arrested to get fed and warm. I am thankfull this year. For far too many things to even think about listing. I would like to thank though the Red Cross tonight. My first aid training completely "took over" once I heard the words "heart attack" and saw him start to go down. I did not have to administer first aid, however I wonder if I would have handled things as well without walking through the pre and post care steps in class. Thank you Red Cross. Everyone stay safe tonight. Hug your family's a little tighter, and to quote my favorite Tesla tune "Thank you lord for thinking about me, I'm alive and doing fine"

  10. I can't believe they snubbed Richard Simmons! He seems like a poster child for liberals.   Maybe they would have more in common with Eddie Murphy's old SNL character, Little Richard Simmons, http://screen.yahoo.com/little-richards-simmons-show-000000345.html.

  14. I have to agree with everything that has been said. I agree with Robert whole heartedly (must be contagious) and he speaks wisely when he says we "all have something to be thankful for". I'm going through tough times right now and sometimes I feel pretty down about things. Just today, I went to Kroger to get some coffee creamer and held the door for a Soldier in a wheel chair and he had no legs. It made me thank about how bad some of my days goes and it isn't crap compared to this Soldier's day. I think back on my military career (Vietnam Era) and feel blessed that I'm able to get up and walk (although very painful at times). So in my own mind, I need to realize that everytime DaveS has a hard time with something, or feels that I'm at the end of my rope, there is always someone worse off than I, and I should be thankful for what I do have. I might just go volunteer at the "Manna Café" tomorrow and help feed the homeless. I guess that's the least I can do.   Happy Thanksgiving   Dave

  16. I'm glad we can agree on something, Dave :) Let me say, though, that I don't really have an opinion of "HIM"; I don't know and don't really care if he is a wonderful person of a low-life SOB...to me, that has nothing to do with whether someone is or isn't guilty of a crime they've been accused of.

Sorry for the crappy panoramic pic, you get the idea though. As for the stuff in the background, we like our liquid encouragement in this household. That is all.

  21. He's fruitier than a fruit cocktail in a jam factory, but I have to admire his seemingly indomitable spirit. He's a person who is always trying to encourage others, ignores the criticism, and tries to find the good in everything and everyone. We could all stand to be a little more like him in that regard....but without the sparkly short shorts.

  33. For hunter with dog (or cat).   I feed my 80lb dog (half boxer half fox terrier) deer's lung, kidney, spleen, liver, heart, legs, trimmings, ribs, back bones, pelvis, etc (no skin).  She can do a magic trick with a deer leg, hide & all, in 45min; there is literally nothing left.     I usually ax 1/2lb side chunk and she loved it.  I store the extra in a cooler cooled by frozen milk jug.  I try to give her a veggie meal (vegetable scraps, fruit skin, broccoli stem/leaves) in between chunks to help her pass.  I tried NOT to feed her more than 2lbs at a time.  When I first process the deer she gets 2lbs.  Thereafter, no more than 1lbs at each meal, 2X/day.   She gets to gnaw the ears also; it is better than peeling the skin off a chemical laced tennis ball or licking a Chinese made dog toy.    This year I'm going to try cooking up some broth and canned them like you guys suggested.  I strain the broth and make sure I don't put deer fat in the pot.  Dog will get the white bones and the broth dredge when I'm done.   This way I pay respect to my deer.

  34. The first "plastic"; pistol i ever owned wuz a 357sig (...Glock 33...)... An old gun tradin buddy of mine (...an avowed "N" frame smith guy...) said i needed to try one... This ole boy is a finished pistolero and regularly shoots most everything; so i knew he knew what he wuz talkin about... I knew that if he liked the little gun, it had plenty of potential....At the time, i was lookin for a small carry pistol that didnt cost an arm and a leg ALA the little 1911's...   I'm an old time reloader and i rounded up the stuff and loaded up some brass and some 125 grain sig bullets.... I used the tried and true recipe for them and loaded 13.0 to 13.5 grains of AA#9... These rounds will do an honest 1250 to 1275 fps (...my actual chronograph data...) out of the short barreled glock (....3.42 inches...)..., and it shoots straight as an arrow... It is, in fact, the best 9 mm type pistol i have ever owned... I've got the compact glock in 357 sig as well... Same thing... Utterly reliable, plenty of power, very accurate... Does it kick; yeah a bit, but it is easily controllable by a reasonably experienced shooter... Muzzle blast; yeah... no more than a 357 mag...   I am a confirmed 357 sig affectionado.... The 357 sig is, in fact, what was claimed for the 9 mm when the political class lied about the performance of the 9 mm in order to sell new pistols to the military in the eighties... Don't buy into the idea that a 9mm luger is anywhere as powerful as a 357 sig in the same length barrel... The sig case is bigger and holds more powder than the 9 mm...Ya can argue about the 9 mm plus plus; but i contend that aint a real 9 mm; its an breed of it's own...   If ya reload, i heartily recommend the sig in any size pistol ya like...I carry the glock 33 and a glock 27 (...40 s & w; same size as the 33...) pretty regularly... I liked the little sig so well in the glock type pistol; that from that one little pistol in 357 sig; there have sprung 3 more; includin a full size 10 mm... I like 'em...   Hope this helps a bit... leroy

  37. The .357 Sig round is an excellent round with superior penetration (one of the reasons, I believe, that THP carries it).   I loved my Glocks that used the caliber but I eventually decided to condense the various calibers I had for handguns to only 45 ACP or 10MM. Had I not made that decision I would still have semi-autos that used the .357 Sig!

  38. .357sig is what THP carries. Its an excellent cartridge. I would prefer the Glock 32 or 33.

  40. Hmmm...Hodgdon site says 1381 max velocity for .357 mag/180 and 1757 max for 158.  My Sierra manual says 1400/1800 (rifle section for both sources).  That doesn't compare well to the .30-30, which is listed in both of these sources as 2300+ being easily achieved with a 150 grain bullet and 2100-2300 with a 170.    You fellows must shoot some wimpy .30-30s.

  42. Performance is the issue. No software or virus program will fix that. A 5 year old bloated windows registry, programs installed and uninstalled, outdated drivers and years of surfing the net is the cause. Only one fix for that if you want to keep the computer you have. Format and a clean install of the OS and the programs you use.

  43. In all honesty I don't think the American people actually voted  him into office as much as I think the 1st and second elections were totally rigged but will never be able to prove it because any where you go to search anything about the guy you are blocked in every way and you cannot learn any true facts about him. When you have votes for an American President being counted off shore in Spain by a company that is owned by Obama's main money backer George Soros how can anyone believe that the elections were not totally rigged and were actually fair and unbiased?????

So I stand on my guess of shoe and hand prints. Unless the possum parachuted in of course.   Dave

  46.    Putting hot lead in a deer is the same as putting it through paper.. point and click. You'll get another chance and at least you're seeing deer! There are much worse things than shooting low, last year I lost my first deer. I was tucked between two pieces of bluff rock that were sticking out of the side of the hill and as the sky started to get a little gray that morning I saw 3 doe come out of the woods about 40yds away. I eased my safety off, put the crosshairs on her and pulled the trigger, she bucked up sprung back into the woods crashing through brush and limbs and I smiled because all I saw was meat in the freezer. I stayed put for about 15 minutes or so and then eased down to the spot she was standing to start tracking her (first time i've ever had to tracked my own deer, they always dropped withing 10yds). I got about 2/3's of the way down and noticed a sapling about the size of my thumb that was broken and doubled over and started to worry i'd missed her. It ended up being way worse than a miss, I got to where she was last standing and found a pile of stomach contents and followed a sparse trail of it for 10 yards before it stopped. I never found the first sign of blood and even after picking up my Dad and grabbing a dog she still was not found. After 3-4 hours of looking I decided to call off the search and that was the worst I have ever felt about hunting. Not only did I almost certainly kill that doe but I gut shot her because I didn't see that sapling between her and the tip of my barrel. I'm sure it was a long painful death and for that I felt horrible but i'm sure the coyotes had a feast. No matter how big a bullet you shoot there is no replacement for shot placement and knowing everything between you that might throw that off. I for one will be more mindful of things like this in the future. Good luck taking your first deer this year!

  50.  Do away with the requirement of background checks for HCP holders to buy a gun. We've already been thru  that once. No need to do it again. Yeah, I know, the State wants the $10. Still a double tax.  I'll agree with another post, we shouldn't need a permit at all.
