  3. I purchased a voucher good for a 6-month Benefactor membership. I don't know your email address, so I chose the Print option. I am assuming you should have received an email or something, informing you how to redeem it. If you have any issues, let me know.

  4. Alexander and Corker have the business money in Tennessee as long as they want it, and that's going to be a big hurdle for any challenger to overcome.  Their constituency at the end of the day is the money that elected them.   I won't pull the lever for either of them again.  Period.

  5. Welcome to TGO, Mike. If you hang around long enough, you'll likely come to realize the benefit of a Benefactor membership. Unlike other local classified websites, TGO offers a feedback system, much like eBay. This is very helpful in keeping members honest, allowing you to buy, sell and trade with some peace of mind.  Generally speaking, TGO is a pretty close community. For many of us, TGO is a home away from home. Unlike some of the "national" forums, many of us actually know each other, hang out together, help each other, and act much like any other sometimes dysfunctional family.    We've had some of the TGO Authorized Vendors offer perks to Benefactors, often making the membership well worth while. On top of that, and probably most importantly, the minimal (especially if you bite the bullet for the one-time Lifetime Benefactor Membership) fee allows the site owner to keep TGO up and running as well as he does. While some members may not want to admit it, I'm pretty sure the suicide rate in Tennessee would skyrocket if TGO were to ever be shut down for good. As a welcome to TGO, a Thank You for your service, and an early Christmas present, I will pay for your very first Benefactor membership. I'm confident you'll renew.

  6. But does this mean I will have to pay sales tax on stuff that I order from them?

  7. Why do they buy this stuff? The same reason you and I would buy this stuff....If they have the budget and can get a good deal on it, WHY NOT? ;) It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

  9. I am happy to announce that, as long as the deal doesn't implode, budsgunshop.com is coming to Sevierville. It will feature several indoor shooting ranges equipped to handle all pistol calibers and most if not all rifle calibers and I believe I understood him to say a tactical rifle/pistol range. It will also feature a large retail area and classrooms to teach anything from HCP classes to defensive tactics . The developers are also working to get a food vendor, such as firehouse subs or similar to set up shop there too. It was presented to me as "manland" a place to come to hang out even if you are not buying or using the range. The conceptional drawings looked awesome! It will be in an existing building close to Smoky Mountain Knife Works.

  13.   Apparently it is a super secret compartment with an electic opening device that requires a certain sequence of events to happen for it to open.   Regardless, that law is beyond ridiculous.  I don't care if it is a drug smuggling compartment.  There weren't any drugs, so no reasonable law was broken.

  15. The bigger question is, what would happen if someone just refused to stop?  Would the officers start shooting?  Chase you down and pull you over even thought they aren't even sworn officers?   What would be the correct thing to do?   As soon as you open your window your "breath" is being "searched" and you don't even know it. And so what if you have alcohol on your breath...having had a drink at some point in the day or evening is not equal being legally impaired? I don't mind being stopped by an actual LEO if he as legal reason to do so (probable cause) but anything less than that is goes fare beyond the pale no matter how "voluntary" they claim it is...this stinks so much I can smell it in Tennessee all the way from Forth Worth TX.

  18. It's kind of fascinating to watch how both sides have magically flip flopped on this issue.  Back in 2005 it was Republicans screaming about the need to do away with the 60 vote supermajority to end a filibuster and go to a simple majority vote.  Back then it was the Democrats saying how horrible that would be and it would rape the constitution.  Here's articles from that time from both the left and the right:   http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/politics/jan-june05/judges_4-18.html   http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/005/551vzoao.asp

  21.    I think it’s funny. I don’t think there anything funny about his victims and certainly nothing funny about them being threatened with a gun. But I had to laugh out loud when I saw that this criminal had been arrested again. I guess stupidity makes me laugh. This guy’s life has been threatened yet he continues to try to get to the one place he will be an easy target; jail. The prosecutors made mistakes and the jury got it wrong, it happens in our legal system; I’m okay with that. But in spite of the failures of our legal system this guy seems to be committed to seeing that justice prevails.   I would guess for the same reason you keep posting in this thread; it’s something to discuss?

  24. The militaration of domestic law enforcement agencies has been happening for decades, it's just picking up pace inorder to keep President Obama's campaign promise to (paraphrasing) "create a domestic police force which is just as powerful, just as big & just as well funded as our armed forces". The ultimate purpose/reason of this is of course just speculation & guess work, but history is ripe with examples of what can & does happen when this sort of domestic law enforcement build-up does occur, none of which (at least to my knowledge) had been for benign purposes/reasons.

  25.  A little while back I picked up a 36" Drago 2 rifle case. The case is made of quality materials it seems and i've been happy with it with the exception of one thing. The case came with backpack straps which I find handy and a lot of time saves a trip to the truck since both hands are free but the first time I had the case out I heard a tearing sound but upon inspection couldn't figure out where it came from. The 2nd time out I heard the sound again and dropped the bag to inspect it again and found that the fabric that the D-ring is attached to was tearing away from the case a bit. There were several rows of stitching so I went on and forgot about it until it's 3rd trip to the range when it almost completely tore off. Now there was about 1/3 of the last row of stitching left so I decided to write the folks at Drago. I basically told them that I loved the case along with what I have outlined here and finished off by saying that if they would provide me with an email address, I would be happy to send pictures of the problem. The next day I received and email asking for a picture which I sent right out to them and the following morning I had a reply. They apologized for the trouble and asked for my mailing address so that they could get a new one on the way. I sent them the address this morning and got to thinking, they never asked for the original to be returned so barring some special return instructions with the new case I am left with both cases.  I was never left wondering if they would take care of the issue and they never questioned how I had been using the case or how much stuff I had packed into it, they just said a new one is on it's way.  I like dealing with companies that treat me right and also like to pass it on when they do (or do not in some cases) so buy Drago products with confidence knowing that they will stand behind their product should something come up.

  29. As happy as it would make me to know that Delbert Belton has been avenged, this is not the way to do it. I didn't know the man so I may be way off base here but I know if I were viciously beaten to death I would not want revenge, I would want justice. Not street justice, not Aryan Brotherhood justice, real, American Justice. Try them, let them have their day, then quickly and rapidly dispatch them with a brick to the head. I guess I won't lose any tears for them either way but I for one don't want to be associated with the kind of behavior that would put me a step closer to being on their level. IMO.

  34. Police forces/law enforcement agencies are not supposed to be military units. However, from my perspective; it's the mindset, mission and tactics employed that determines whether an agency is acting as a "military" unit or civilian law enforcement, not the equipment.  Will the police use "military grade" equipment to just go in and kill people with little or no regard to collateral damage and casualties or will they use such equipment to be safe and to respond to the level of force they are encountering?   I'm sure most of us remember the bank robbery in LA years ago when the robbers were equipped with body armor and automatic weapons while the police had shotguns and revolvers and were hopelessly outgunned. Would anyone here suggest that LE should be limited to .38 SPC wheel guns and pump 12ga shotguns today?   As with most technology (be it electronic, mechanical or anything else), it's how it's used and who uses it that really matters isn't it? It seems to me that a corrupt, out of control LEO or a corrupt, out of control LE Agency is going to be dangerous to citizens and citizen's rights regardless of what kind of equipment they have access to; that is what we should be concerned with...not what kind of vehicles or helicopters they have.

  35. I open up the deer, remove caul fat and put it in a plastic bag for the trip home. My Son will pull out the entrails then remove the caul. That works OK, but you need to be a little more careful that you don't get it dirty. Take it home, clean and rinse it and freeze or use fresh.   DaveS

  36. That is NOT a Webley.   I would not try to restore it in any way. Collectors are wanting the original patina so when someone cleans up an antique it can destroy all its value.   To give you an idea of how bad it can affect value I will tell you this. I watched a guy walk into a show with a very old and very rare Colt Single Action. In its original finish it was worth $3,000-$5,000, maybe even more but because he took a wire wheel to it the day of the show it turned it into a $500 shooter. He said he was trying to get the brown rust coloring off. It didn't appear to have any pitting and the grips were in nice shape other than where the wire wheel hit them.   Using the incorrect screw driver can affect the value as well. A utility screw driver has a blade like a wedge that does not stay in the slot when force is applied. This will cause the screw slots to be stripped out. A correct screw driver is square so there is very little chance of it slipping out of the slot.   Did you drift the front sight out? If so you are lucky the blade did not break off. The two parts are soldered together and the solder become brittle over time.   Not trying to beat you up, just don't want you to ruin any value it might have.

  37. I work for a smaller dept near Memphis, and I've already pulled my military style assault rifle once during my shift tonight. I am also wearing a vest. Look up the officer down memorial page, and you might be surprised that many of the murdered officers come from small departments. I can see the argument against tanks and helicopters, but I can't believe he is speaking about vests. I used to think the Rutherford Institute had some good goals. I am not impressed after reading this article.

  38. Article is retarded   Using that logic, the author is suggesting that police only get shot or suffer serious injury if they work in a densely populated area.  I would bet you a cheeseburger that plenty of LEO's here could poke holes in that all day long.   Why do they need "military style" (I always love that generic terminology) equipment?  For the same reason you can have 100 round drums for an AK, because they can.

  45. Tapatalk won't let me watch the videos, but I'm still going to comment. :) I have hsd very heated conversations with my kids principals and staff; however, they never felt the need to involve LEO. We argued it out like grown ups and ended up respecting each other more in the end. We now have a wonderful understanding with each other and have had a great relationship since; even if I was a bit out of line. :) Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee
