1. So yesterday I was in town doing a few things. While in town I decided to check Academy Sports for 22. We were about 3-4 minutes out so I called to see if they had any so we wouldn't need to stop if we didn't need to. I had no other need to go in there other than to buy 22 ammo so a quick call telling me they didn't would save me some time and effort.   I called and went through the options to get to the gun counter. It rang 5-6 times then there was a distinct pause and it began to ring again. After it rang 2-3 times someone from customer service picked up. I asked if they had any 22 ammo. He didn't say a word and transferred me to the gun counter. It rang 5-6 times again then the same guy at customer service answered and asked how I could help. I again asked about 22 and he asked me to hold please. I interupted him and told him I had already called back there twice. He said he would check on the 22 ammo and come back to the line. At this point we pulled into the parking lot of Academy Sports and my wife says I should just hang up because I am here but I didn't. I kept the phone to my ear while I waddled my happy butt into the store on crutches. I made a bee line for the gun counter but did not ask anybody anything when I got there because I wanted to see what the hold up was. So I stand there for 2-3 minutes and I watch as 4-5 employees are BSing and laughing amongst themselves. They were all standing around the cash register which is where the phone is. As I was standing there my phone began to ring again. I guess if someone is on hold for too long it automatically rings customer service again. Someone else picked up at customer service and asks if he can help. I tell him I am on hold to find out if there is any 22 ammo. He asks me to hold and transfers me, yet again, to the gun counter again. I am standing 3 feet from their phone as it begins ringing but they continue to BS and laugh amongst themselves without acting like the phone is even ringing. Then after 5-6 rings, in which they do not answer, I again get transferred back to the customer service where the last guy picks up again. I ask about 22 ammo and I again get transferred to the gun counter where the same 4-5 employees are still standing around BSing and laughing. I am standing there watching them all as the phone continues to ring and not a single one is even acknowledging it. It rings 4-5 times then a female employee runs up and frantically picks up the phone. I ask about 22 even though I already know they don't have any. We hang up and those 4-5 employees continue to BS as I walked away.   I spent close to 10 minutes waiting on the gun counter to answer with 5 minutes of it standing right in front of the gun counter watching them BS as their phone rang. I don't know about the first two calls to the gun counter but the last two I was standing right there without a customer in sight so I know it wasn't like they were busy with a customer. I can only assume they didn't answer the first two calls for the same reason as the last two.   So on my way out I asked for a manager. I told him his employees were not answering the phones back at the gun counter. He was nice as can be but started to make excuses so I interupted him and told him I was standing right there as the phone rang without them answering it because they were chatting away amongst themselves. At that point he seemed to get a little pissed and said he would take care of it. No clue whether he did or just got a good laugh at my expense but at least he knows now and can't claim ignorance when I talk to his boss the next time this happens.   I am not going to fool myself into thinking I am not going to buy from there ever again or boycott the place or anything. But every time I pull into the parking lot I am going to call to see where it leads.

 5.   Doesn't matter what you want or don't want. Take her to the gun store and let it be her choice if you can. I have no doubt that you can pick something that will serve her well. It will just work out better if it's really her choice. Know what I mean, Vern? She may pick a wheel gun, which is more than ok if she's connected to it, and not just trying to make you happy.

 7. Dear Mr. Buck D. Deer;      I hope this letter finds you doing well, and that you are enjoying a few of my favorite hunting spots.      The reason I’m writing this letter is to voice a complaint about your behavior on my property. But first, a little history:        Three years ago while I was bow hunting my food plot, you, your mom and your twin brother showed up and started eating away at my turnip greens. You two little fawns were running, ripping and honestly being little pains in the asses. I liked to fell out of my tree stand laughing when you tried to nurse and your momma mule kicked you with both back legs and rolled you on the ground. Personally I think you deserved it. I do however wish to say how sorry I am for putting that arrow through her ribs and sent you and your brother scampering for the thickets. She wasn’t nothing but a hoe anyways.      That same year, my Daughter shot your Daddy (all 182 pounds and 12 points of his) while he was tom cat’ing around and chasing other women. Oh by the way, doe in heat lure, doe decoys and bleat calls really work. Just ask your Daddy!      Now last year was certainly something to think about. You and your twin brother was down in “Rub Valley” just fighting each other to beat the band! Y’all should be a little more considerate of others and kind of keep the noise level down just a tad. And by the way, I’m the guy that shot your brother. Better off anyways considering he was kicking your ass. You owe me!      Then in early December while hunting “Shock and Awe Ridge”, while I’m sitting on a bucket leaned back against a tree, while grunting and rattling like no tomorrow, you had no call running up to within 10 yards behind me and snorting . When I turned around and saw you standing a mere 10 yards back foaming at the mouth, you caused me to fall off my bucket and I threw my hip out causing me considerable pain and discomfort for days. Not funny Mr. Deer, not funny at all!   All was well until this year and your recent behavior  concerns me. Opening day of Muzzleloader I went and hunted “Rub Valley”. At the same time, you posed for my trail camera up on “Shock and Awe Ridge”. What was that deal all about? Oh and Sunday morning? You lucked out big time! While you come just bee bopping along the thicket that runs from “Shock and Awe Ridge” to “Heartbreak Pass”, I shot at you, that’s right it was me. Lucky for you that little tree ran out in front of that bullet and splattered bark all over you. My bad…s**t happens!   Then you turned around just the other day and sashayed right up to the trail camera, stuck your nose to it (yes, I see your antler tines in the picture) and acted like you had no cares in the world. But seriously did you have to stick your tail up in the air and take a dump? By the way, I seen your handy work of a pile layed in front of the cam. That was totally uncalled for!   Here’s my deal; one day this week let’s meet for coffee. Let’s say about 0630, My stand, I’ll bring the coffee. I’ll even let you pose for the camera. While you pose look about 15 yards past the camera, look up about 15 foot and smile. I really do want to see the look on your face when “Ol’ Git Some” lets out that billowing cloud of smoke!   Peace Mr. Deer   DaveS Giblet Gibson   Enjoy and have a laugh!

 8. MacGyver has my basic argument covered, but I'll ask this simple question: impeachment for what? Impeach him for trying to implement a policy he supports, that was lawfully passed by Congress, and ruled on as constitutional by the SCOTUS at least as far as the particular legal questions they were asked to decide? Impeach him for a very poorly written and extremely poorly implemented law? Where does the law say that qualifies as an impeachable offense under the "high crimes and misdemeanors" clause of the Constitution? Impeach him for lying about the policy? Again, show us where that is considered an impeachable offense? Impeach him for implementing a policy that is harming people? If that were an impeachable offense, then Reagan, G.H.W. Bush, and G.W. Bush should have been impeached as well for their support of the drug war and other costly and harmful policies. Simple fact of the matter is that this impeachment talk is pure nonsense. If people want real change, then they need to stop voting for candidates in the two statist major parties. If you are one who votes "the lesser of two evils", you are still voting for evil. If you believe you have to vote Republican to keep a Democrat out of office, you can see how that worked out for you these past elections. Also, in a hypothetical race between the Republican Hitler, the Democrat Stalin, and the Libertarian Gary Johnson, you'd vote for Hitler because he's the "conservative" Republican and you can't let Stalin win because he's more of a Marxist. Think about that for a minute.

 11. You should definitely check it out. I was there today competing for the first time and it was a blast! The stages were all different, testing your skill on all the different facets of practical pistol shooting, the atmosphere was fantastic, not uptight but with all the seriousness that the sport requires. Special thanks to dlmeadows for introducing me to everybody and patiently answering all my questions and letting me borrow some of his equipment. I'm definitely going back. You can live for quite a long time without food, but only about 3 days without water.  The Fema (Federal Emergency Management Agency) recommends 14 gallons of water per person for a two week period.  That may seem like quite a lot, but it is only a gallon a day for drinking, cooking, and washing needs.  The agency recommends at least 14 day supply. There are some hidden places in your home that have usable water. One is the hot water heater.  Turn it off and open the drain at the bottom of the heater.  Make sure the gas is off, and the pilot light is out!  Another source is the toilet tank.  Not the bowl, the tank of water that goes into the bowl in a flush.  You can use that water as long as you don't use an automatic bowl cleaner in it. I would still add bleach to it, just to be on the safe side. There are many ways to store water. There are containers that you can buy especially for storing. These can be found in some super markets, and hardware stores.  Try on line if you can't find them in your area.  They come in different sizes.  The ones that I have seen are galloon, 15 gallon, and 55 gallon blue barrels.  The barrels work best with a pump, purchases separately, for about $10.  You can use heavy plastic juice containers, washed well with hot water and soap.  You can use liter pop bottles as well.  Do not use glass containers, bleach bottles, metal containers, milk bottles, or water already in milk bottle like containers.  These are made to decompose and will leak all over your storage room (personal experience!). ALL water obtained from out of doors is subject to contamination for dirt, bacteria or other nasty things.  First it must be clarified and then cleaned of all physical impurities such as dirt and debris. Then it must be disinfected or made safe from biohazardous materials. No home method of water treatment can guarantee safety of the water. Certain water treatment methods described below can deduce the risks involved, but emergency treatment of water cannot guarantee safety of the water. Devices that are sold with a claim that they can purify any water should be avoided because they will not work as claimed.   Clarification Settling:  This is the easiest method to remove most debris, including radioactive fallout from water.  To let water settle merely let it stand in a container, totally undisturbed for 12 to 24 hours. This will allow any sediment to  sink to the bottom of the container. A handful of clay soil in each gallon of water will help speed this process. Since it takes so long to settle it is advisable to use a large container for this purpose, like a tough tote.  After settling is complete pour, dip or siphon the clean water to another container, being careful not to stir up the sludge at the bottom.  Discard the sludge and then purify water. Hose Siphoning Take a six or eight foot section of garden hose and stuff two cottontails in one end.  Place that end into a container of your dirty water. Then suck on the other end until water starts to come through.  Then place the that end into a container placed below the dirty water. Gravity will pull the water from the higher container into the lower container while trapping sediment in the cotton balls.  When the balls are clogged simply remove and replace.  This will clean about one quart per thirty minutes.  However, if the water is really muddy the cotton balls will have to be replaced very frequently.   Coffee Filters Place three or four filters (one inside the other) into a mason jar and let the edges stick out over the mouth of the jar.  Then screw the lid on over the edge of the filters.  Pour the water into the filters.  The water will drip into the jar.  When the filters become clogged, replace them.  This type of filter will clean approximately one quart of very dirty water per two hours.   Purification Boiling:  Water sterilization by boiling is preferred over any method of chemical disaffection because disease causing microorganisms cannot survive the heat of a sterilizing boil.  If water is cloudy, only heat sterilization can be fully relied upon to assure complete destruction of these organisms.  Bring the water to a rolling boil for *10 minutes, then adding one minute for each 1000 feet of elevation.   Chlorine:  Liquid household chlorine bleach can be used to purify water provided the label says that it contains hypochlotie as its ONLY active ingredient. Do NOT use granular or powdered forms of household bleach, they are poisonous!!  Add 2 drops of bleach per quart or 8 drops per gallon and let stand for 30 minutes.  If the water doesn't taste and smell of chlorine at that point, add another dose and let stand for 15 minutes.  If the water is cloudy you may double the dosage. Liquid bleach loses strength over time.  In one years storage you must put in double the amount of bleach as new bleach.  Two year old bleach must not be used.  It is not potent enough to kill bacteria. After adding bleach to water, stir and let stand for 30 minutes. Bleach is totally ineffective against GIARDIA and other hardy forms of protozoa.  USE BOILING TO REMOVE THESE if they are suspected.   Iodine Tablets-- these are very effective against all forms of bacteria, however they are less effective against GIARDIA.  Iodine tablets usually have a relatively short shelf life, losing 20% effectiveness in just six months.  They are also sensitive to heat and light.  They turn color from gray to yellow as they become less potent.  The usual dose is one tablet per quart of clear water and two for cloudy.  Let stand for 30 minutes before use. Regardless of the method of chemically disinfecting water, always double the dosage for cloudy water.  If the water temperature is cold, below 45 degrees, let it stand for one hour before using it. Be sure to have some water on hand in case of any emergency. You will need it mostly for drinking, but also to wash up a bit and keep utensils clean.  Be sure to at least to have 1 gallon per person and a take week supply of actual clean water is recommended.  You can live for much longer without food than without water.   NOTE: Water is the hardest thing to store. I have 3 55 gallon containers of water, plus about 20 2 liter pop bottles of water. Not enough, but room is a concern. Just make sure to have enough bleach or iodine on hand to sterilize the water. Any time I get an empty soda bottle, I rinse it out, and fill it with water. I don't drink soda pop, but at family parties or work parties, I'll gather up the empty ones to use.

I also do as you did and complain to the management, local and corporate. It doesn't keep me from shopping there but I'll give second thoughts to if I want to leave any money there.   But, I've always had a good experience at Firehouse Subs and after finding the free coupon below I also had a good experience at Penn Station. The other two does spotted us and didn't present a shot. The buck had his nose to the ground and was moving fast. This all happened from about 6:20 till 7:20. Been quiet since then.

 25. CVA Optima .50cal Dave and others....I had a HECK of a hunt today! One of THE BEST hunts I have been on in a long time! I was hunting over a wheat/clover field about 200 yards as the crow flies from a bedding area. Its about an acre plot as well so its not too big. I was hunting out of a RedNeck Hunting Blind in a very comfortable chair. Anyways, my day started with a 3pt buck that came cruising through. I was able to glass him for a bit with my Nikon Monarch 5's binoculars. Beautiful animal! Then a lone doe came out about 15 minutes later. She was tearing into the clover. My goal this year is to only kill does to help reduce our deer heard and balance the doe/buck sex ratio. Anyways, I thought about taking her, which would be my first with a Muzzleloader, and decided not to because I was a little afraid it might be a button buck (turns out it was a doe). So I decided to wait and I am GLAD I DID! So I look up and see a big bodied deer on the edge of the woods. Nikon Monarch's indicated it was a 2.5 year old buck with 4 on one side and atypical with 2 on the other. He was STARING HER DOWN. He wanted her so bad. He ended up bedding down on the edge of the woods just watching her for like 10 minutes. THEN he got up and started making a scrape! Thrashing his antlers around on this overhanging limb, hoofing the ground and then taking a wicked piss right on the center. Then he took a few steps towards her and started grunting at her over and over. He ran like 3 steps to her and she ran a bit but still for the most part ignored him. Then once he was in the middle of the field, he bedded down again! Then more time passed and she wandered off and he followed in hot pursuit. Then I started hearing turkeys purring. A group of like 9 gobblers came out right by my stand. So awesome! Then after they ran off a group of 3 deer came out. A mom, and two fawns, one of which actually was a button buck! So I ended up taking out the mom. I cleaned her up and gave her to some Mexicans that were working on my FIL's farm house and they were very thankful and excited for her! What a hunt!!! All I had was my iphone 4s, so sorry about all the crappy photos.

 28. Cor-Bon is really good stuff. Why, because I've shot it and not had a problem yet? (but I haven't with the other 2 either?) And all the test I've seen done with it the FPS was right at or over the manufactures claims. I've also shot Federal and Hornady.  I'm a huge fan of most hornady ammo. But all the SD ammo I shot seemed weak compared to other.   My order would be:   Cor-Bon Ferderal Hornady   They will get the job done in the end. So honestly it really wouldn't matter to me.

 30. I saw this on netflix. I turned it off when the guy went to the movies and dug through the trash to get a soda cup and popcorn container so he could score a free refill. GROSS! ! Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee

 31. Quick turn off the tv and get back to puttering. That stuff will rot your brain.

 32. Since we've moved away from the "get home gun" thing a little, something else to consider might be a paper map. I know my driving route is definitely not the shortest and may not be the smartest way home.

 33. Oprah is a piece of crap who's success has obviously decreased the number of functioning brain cells she has....she isn't worth the time listening nor are her comments relevant to anyone but herself.   Obama is a piece of crap who likely never had many functioning brain cells to start with and has gotten where he is mostly BECAUSE of his race. He also isn't worth the time listening to; unfortunately he is the President and wields a good deal of power so what he does/says are relevant because it impacts others.

 34. As I discussed with an Admiral, Congress does not have the courage to deal with the public and media outcry and probably worse for an impeachment trial against the first black President, regardless of how viable the charges.

 35. I stopped in on a trip to Knoxville a couple of years ago. (Yes Major, that trip.) My brother-in-law and I were just killing time til the next meet we had scheduled and I thought it might be nice since I had never been in a GM store.   It was an eye-opening experience to say the least. I was looking for a 1.5 in gun belt to fit my oversize waistline. 65 bucks. For that I got a Chinese import piece of leather from some unknown exploited worker.   For a few bucks more I got a good high quality piece from a local leather shop.

 36. Yes, that was a great help. Thanks, daddyo. You got my answer in a great fashion. So the 0770 is somewhat thinner, a bit shorter, and I'd say noticeably lighter than the 0350. Still like the looks. Might be next for me. But then again, I'm looking at Kim Breed's knives as well. If you don't know of Kim Breed, google him. Kim makes some beautiful knives. I have a Damascus Ladder Folder of his that you wouldn't believe.

 37.     I saw on TV that it was filmed with the trucks going forward and he Van Dumb was wearing a safety harness that they CGI'ed it out..   It still looks cool.

 39.       Great response from both of you guys.   I am in agreement here; I don't care if the man in the big office is purple and orange.  It's the job that he does and how well it's done that concern me. If that person betters the country, ends problems, and just generally acts with some modicum of good sense and composure when dealing with people and issues...that's the man for the job.   You know...the polar opposite of the current officeholder.

 40. People don't like him for his actions, just like her audience likes her because she gives crap away. Do they love her just because of her race or because she may give them a car or a house? We all know the answer. I myself can't stand either of the O's for a plethora of reasons, and race is nowhere in there!

 41. Stores spend a lot of money advertising to get you in. It’s a shame they lost your business over lazy azz employees. If I were the store manager I would have walked back there, chewed azz, and let them know they aren’t on the clock to stand around and BS. Of course then they could all feel like victims and talk about what an azz I am; that is until the next time it happened. Like anything you have good and bad, I generally get good results when I am in stores and need something, and generally when I call (once I can get a person on the line.) I’m sure that phone rings constantly, but they need to know those are buyers calling. I hope the Manager you talked with had the sack to explain that to them in no uncertain terms. (Although that shouldn’t have to be done with adults)

 43. If they were just making money on your (or my) money, I have no problem with that. It's when they print money and give it to the banks to lend out, both debasing the currency and also damaging savings by forcing interest rates to be artificially low that I have issues. All this money floating around causes bubbles also which ultimately pop (c.f. dotcom boom, housing bubble and others), further taking value from the pockets of the general populous. The population of the US (and other countries) are being robbed blind. Good for you that you are doing well. I'm not doing so bad myself. But whereas a rising tide lifts all boats, a lowered tide just stinks. End the fed, slash regulations and let's see real free markets.

 44. That guy is lucky. Owls are incredibly strong, they can break bones with their talons. I'd say it's better to blow your cover and shoo the owl away than have one get after you.

 45. The same reason he hasn't been assassinated by some white supremacist nut job; heck, they can even see what they'd be left with.   I often wonder if that was the determining factor in Biden being selected as Obama's running mate.

 46. About the only downside to the K-Frame is that running too many hot 357 loads can split the forcing cone. This is the main reason the L Frame was built. My favorite by far

 48. This sort of thing pisses me off. This was an entirely avoidable tragedy if not for some idiot who thought it would be funny to hand an inexperienced shooter the biggest damn gun he could without even thinking "hey, let's be on the safe side and load just one round in the thing in case she loses control of it." Youtube is full of videos where the person being filmed managed to avoid this poor woman's fate by nothing more than sheer luck. The person who put that gun in her hands should be charged with negligent homicide as this outcome was entirely foreseeable.
