My 9 year old daughter shot her first deer yesterday evening. There wasn't much blood and after looking for about 15 minutes I decided to back out and look first thing this morning. After searching for over an hour I finally found the deer. I bet I walked by it a million times lol. It only ran 50 or 60 yards. The buck she killed we named him funky head and I have several trailcam pics of him. He has 6 or 7 points that would score and a few that might be close. Overall we are calling him a 10 pointer (by redneck standards anyway lol). I am very proud of my daughter. The points don't matter to me I just thank God I have an awesome memory with her. I tricked her when I came home. I told her I couldn't find it but I shot a coyote. The smile on her face when I dropped the tail gate was awesome. She was a little bummed out that we had to leave and come back but I explained why and she understood. I'm still smiling from ear to ear. I'M ONE HAPPY DADDY!!!!

  I agree about some of the doom and gloom threads. If David gets sick of them, they'll go away. Until they do, I'm not gonna scold somebody. I'll make fun of them, like almost every post in this thread did.

My oldest boy killed a small 6 pointer this morning. It field dressed 126 lbs. Yesterday, he passed on several does and a couple of coyotes. We haven't seen anything good as of yet. :wall: The pic isn't sideways on photobucket!!! What am I doing wrong?

Yeah, this was my big problem with this guy; who treats young ladies like that? What an effing coward to act like that and push them around. If he didnt have a badge on and was treating little women like that he'd be getting his teeth knocked in.

Should I go ahead and make my Nov. credit card payment or will be safe to just skip it? I hate to waste money if the world is going to end before the payment date!

So this is more of a thread to tell you about some good customer service I received while buying a new rifle. I recently decided I wanted a Remington 700 Varmint gun in .308. I was in our local Dunham's store in Tullahoma, TN on Friday looking at one they had in stock. Their price was high, but the manager informed me that if I came back on Saturday, it would be $100 off. I was happy with that, and decided I would come back and get it. Upon returning to the store, I noticed that the tag on the rifle said it came with a scope; a 3-9x40 un-named brand. I asked the clerk what scope it came with, and he said he did not know, whatever was in the box, probably a low end Bushnell. I was not really planning to get a scope, so any scope was a nice bonus. I had to go back to the front to pay for a background check, and when I returned, the manager and the clerk had the box there with no scope. They said that there was not supposed to be a scope with it; the tag was mistaken. The manager said he could make me a really good deal on a scope, but I had not brought enough cash to pay for a scope as well. I told him I was not prepared to buy one that day, and he said alright, let me see what I can do. To make a long story longer, he gathered up ring, bases, and a scope to include with the gun. After all this, it was time to complete the purchase. When the gun rang up and the tally was calculated, the gun did not ring up at the appropriate discounted price. I informed them that I did not think that was correct, and they promptly corrected the price. In the end, it was a little bit of hassle and took a little longer than most purchases, but I was reassured that even though this is a big box store, not a local business, their customer service was most upstanding. For all you "pics or it didn't happen" crowd, here's the obligatory gun porn. The freebie scope will only be staying until I decide what glass I want to really put on it. Lots of awesome dads on this forum. Several pretty lil gals puttin meat in the freezer, that's just awesome. Another block in the wall of self reliance makes LADIES not girls. Big difference.

Awesome! Congrats to your daughter... and dad.      Soak it up brother, it won't last forever and it will be gone before you know it. My daughter was the same age when she got her first. She's 15 now and we didn't hunt this weekend. We sorta half planned to hit one afternoon, but didn't make it out. I miss those days of her sitting with me in the blind, on my lap, me shaking worse than her. I am looking forward to the next level of memory making times now. Like teaching her to change a flat tire... :)

  No, it's not, unless your are totally careless.  Anyone ignorant enough to walk into an airport with one in the chamber really needs to stay away from guns.  I would prefer he never had possession of another gun again.   Dude should at least be fined for that purple thing

He was showing off what a big boy he was. In his mind that is how an officer is supposed to conduct himself, from the position of authority rather than a peace officer. A peace officer would have responded to the call, been cordial with the young ladies and wished them a good day. This guy doesn't see the role of police that way. He sees it as a position where you can assert your control over others, and should. All because in high school the other boys whooped on him and none of the girls would touch his pee pee.

When I was reading about the update before committing to install, one of the "improvements" was that it "removed location sharing consent". Whatever that means. It just didn't sound like something I wanted. Removal of the consent requirement on anything is generally bad.

I also get tired of hearing some people critisize others for calling out Senators, Congressmen and the POTUS right to their face, saying they are disrespecting the office. BULLCRAP. Those Senators, Congressmen and especially the current POTUS have disrespected/discraced the office they were elected for, they deserve every bit of truth, harsh words and even insults said right to their face.
