  2. The (already high) premiums on the O'care site are wrong - actual premiums are higher   Existing plans are being canceled.  Replacement plans are costing hundreds more - and how about that $6000 deductible?   Millions are going to end up paying the fine/tax because they're unable to sign up.   Those that tried to delay this were called everything from bomb throwing terrorists to domestic enemies by the left.   Delay?  Absolutely not.  Let 'em have it - good and hard.  Elections coming up next year, the Democrat party really deserve to choke on the fruits of their labor.

  4. Eh, my family came over on a crowded, diseased ship about 100 years ago and didnt have a pot to piss in. I refuse to believe I am a beneficiary of "white wealth". There isn't a dime I have that I didn't earn myself. I have never received money from my parents. I have inherited nothing. The only money I've ever borrowed was from a bank for a house and some cars. I don't owe anybody nothin, nor should I feel guilty about anything. A black man walking the streets today has only himself to blame for his successes and failures. Playing the blame game is why there is such a problem. Being able to blame the white devil for all their woes is what keeps people in poverty; it gives them a sense of entitlement while at the same time gives them no incentive to improve their station in life. As long as they are "owed" something there is no reason to work for it.

  6. Yeah, this isn't bullying, this is just whining at best. Go cry me a river. Tell that to the graves of kids who have killed themselves because nobody would do a damned thing about it.

  7.  I sold mags and ammo to a few who were caught short during the worst of it, and I didn't make a dime.  A local gunshop had decent prices on firearms, but the last time I walked into the place he was selling .223 for a dollar a round.  Won't be back to see if he's lowered his prices.   I understand supply and demand.  I also believe that shooters ought to watch out for each other as a community.  There are many that agree with me, apparently, and I will reserve my custom for them.

  8. Yeah, I agree. Somehow I don't think the black family that lives down the street from me would start killing whitey if a race war broke out, and I can bet my white neighbors aren't gonna be going down to the black folks' house to vice them trouble. It's all socioeconomic. The difference is that black "have nots" are generally centrally located into one area, whereas white "have nots" are spread out all over the place. I come from trailer park central, and I figure that if you took all those people and put them in the projects it would look just the same as a black ghetto, only with white folks slinging meth on each corner rather than black folks slinging rocks.

  9. Anyway to address the whole "white guilt" thing, if white folks are going to be held responsible of the crimes of their ultra-distant ancesters from 150+ years ago by black folks, than white folks should consider the decendants of crimes committed by black folks who are currently in prison for murder, assault, theft, etc just as guilty as the ones who actually committed the criminal act themselves. What's good for the goose is good for the gander right?
    3 points
  10. I do not feel guilty because I was born white. A person is born what they are born and that's it.  You do the best you can with what you get. Don't expect equal opportunity, just take advantage of the opportunity you get.  Saying someone owes something because of the color of his skin is the very basis of racism. To blame all people of one race for what some bad people of that race did is the same as blaming all gun owners for something one bad person with a gun did.   As for White wealth, please tell me where I can sign up for that. I earned everything I have. By working.

  12. Since I'm on my ipad I'm not going to try to multi quote and edit a bunch of posts on here. We started homeschooling last year our group of 4 boys (13,10,4,3). I will tell you I was the first one to raise objections against homeschooling based on the ability of my wife to teach our children and also on the social aspects. What I have come to discover is that even my average intelligence wife can handle teaching complex subjects to my above average intelligence children (my 13 year old could explain the different types of symbiotic relationships at 4 years old). The amazing thing in today's world is that the internet provides an immense amount of learning tools for areas that one may not be great at. When she struggles with a topic or just can't get the point across in a manner that works for the child we turn to the internet to find another way to explain it. If that doesn't work then there is a wonderful group of homeschooling parents in the area that we can turn to for help. This is not an endeavor that has to be conquered alone. Most areas have groups and even co ops to utilize the strengths of each individual in the group. As for the social side. Well between church, scouts, and sports we have it covered without the problem kids. The benefit is that we can cover material at a pace that I can be sure that my sons have learned what they need to know. That means if algebra comes easy then we don't have to dwell. If they are struggling with science we can work longer on it to be sure we have sufficient comprehension. And best of all we don't have to teach to the test. And probably the best part is that I can go to work relaxed knowing that my kids teacher is armed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  19. Wanna talk about bullying, be the kid who's mom complained. That kid will get bullied. This is stupid, if you can't handle losing don't play. The winning team ran the ball every play in the 4th quarter. Those kids were backups and most if them hadn't scored before. And that's not counting the defensive touchdowns You can't ask kids to stop playing. What did she want the winning team to just take a knee 3 times and punt. Quit teaching your kids to be pussies and they'll be less pussies in the world

  20. A 12 year old was the Sparks, Nevada school shooter. Two kids shot and a Teacher killed. After the first kid was shot the teacher was killed when he tried to stop the shooter. I wondered what would have happened if the teacher would have been armed and shot the shooter when he pulled the weapon. Well of course we know what would have happened; the headlines would have been “Teacher murders 12 year old student”. I’m making no judgments about what these cops did; don’t have enough info other than stories saying the kid was raising the AK as he turned towards them. As I said before; reaction time….tick…tick…tick. But saying he was too young to be a danger, or that any of us, cop or HCP holder should have been able to tell a replica from the real thing as someone is presenting a weapon is ridiculous. Terrible situation.

  21. More commonly referred to as "man-love" Thursday. It is the eve of their weekend, and when all the men come out to play. Of course, there are no women allowed out, so imagine that the streets are packed with dudes all out for a good time, minus chicks. I could go into more detail but it gets worse from there. A lot worse. Things that you don't want to think about and likely wouldn't believe they were true unless you saw it for yourself.

  26. JP only requires half down to put you in the build queue and are running around 16 weeks so if that helps your decision, go to their website and use their builder function.  It will save your options and then just call them up when your ready to go.    http://www.jprifles.com/rosmain.php?   Even at $900 bills or so for the barrel assy, it will still be in the range for the overall build of my costs on a LAR-8.

  27. That sounds like a cool build! I am also planning to do a 6.5 and have had difficulty finding a bbl in stock. I want to do an 18" but how much I have to spend at the time will determine the mfg. I've got my eye on the PRI Gen III rifle-length handguard and maybe the PRS stock. For the grip, I'll probably just do a Magpul MOE since that's what I'm used to. I'm going to scope this rifle for long-range work. I have a Leup Mark 4 4.5-14x50 tactical sitting in the safe, so I'll probably use that. The barrel is also my biggest hurdle. I want a high-end one, but the CMP is about to ship my Garand so I have to watch the coins. I'll probably have to wait a while to get the bbl I really want.

  29. Aw man! I feel for ya' brother Dave!   Had a friend who found a paper wasp nest about the size of a soccer ball one winter and thought, "hey that'd make great wadding for the ol' black powder shotgun!" So he took it home and tossed it under the bench in his shop. Couple days later he went out to the shop to mold some balls and fired up his wood stove because it was chilly... About 30 minutes later a "cloud of hornets" (his words) rose up from the far end of his bench and chased him out of the shop. I guess he got nailed about 8 or 9 times before he hit the door and couldn't get back into his shop to unplug the lead pot until the next day after the stove had burned out and the temp had dropped again.   With great pride he reported that he went out and fired up his wood stove again about 4 days later after a cold snap sent the temps below zero... and one of the first things he put in the stove was the wasp nest. :pleased:

  32. Let's put it this way... My dad was a Knox County Public school teacher and I was homeschooled the entire way through. My mom has been subbing in South FL for the past few years at what we'd call "good" schools and at least once a week she tells me that she's glad we are going to homeschool our girls when they get old enough. It's not only about what they are being taught as "education", but it's all the crap they are learning from the other kids. I want my kids to actually get a good education and not be corrupted by other kids so the decision is easy. Plus, they will turn out smarter:)

  41.   Agreed.  The headline is an eye grabber meant to elicit a certain response, good or bad, from the reader.  When you get into the nuts and bolts of the article it has less to do with a looming "race war" and has more to do with the media's silence when it comes to black on white attacks which are racially motivated.  Of course, I don't really care that attacks are racially motivated, it just bothers me that when there is a racially motivated attack by white assailant(s) on a black person the media runs with it as if the country is about to come unglued because there is so much racism from whites.   On one hand I understand where that comes from, but on the other hand I can't comprehend why we historically deny what is so evident.  More black people are murdered in the span of a few years by other black people than the slave trade and KKK combined over the course of American history.  The fact our society continues to deny it, or at least turn a blind eye to it, in fear of looking bigoted is probably the biggest contributer to the murderous and drug addicted culture of the poor black community.  As long as we have this sector of society that is brought up to believe that there is an evil to blame for all their woes they will continue to feel animosity towards seemingly privilaged white people.  Instead we feel badly because of our country's history of slavery and inequality, and that buries the reality that rap culture romanticizes gang life and drug use creating a never ending pool of young recruits who end up drug addicted, dead or incarcerated.   The notion of a race war suggests this is a race issue that would pit one race against another.  There are too many smart white and black people out there to know better.  This is not racial, it is socioeconomic.  Every race has its problems, and to say the root of the problem is race is to suggest that we aren't born equally worthless.  Even with all the stories of black mobs attacking white and hispanic victims, we can't deny that this is some new precedent specific to a skin color.  About a hundred years ago there were mobs of Italian and Irish youngsters roaming the streets in New England cities, robbing, killing, raping and so on.  The difference is that it was okay for the news to acknowledge it.  To acknowledge that a group of black teens attacked a different color person simply because that person is a different color makes the person acknowledging it racist somehow.  It really is quite interesting to see the social norms cause folks to do such mental gymnastics to come to that conclusion.  At the same time though, there are plenty of loud voices out there who are truly racist who jump on these stories in order to portray blacks in general to be the problem, rather than suggest it is cultural/socioeconomical, which not all black folks are part of such culture..... and then the race war crap starts and it becomes clear that it truly is about race with the person wishing for such a race war.  This give legitimacy to the very media who refuse to report racially motivated crimes committed by blacks yet focus on racially motivate crimes by whites.   This could all be solved by simply acknowledging reality.  There are racist white people and there are racist black people.  However, one from either group doesn't speak for the whole.  Even a mob from one group doesn't speak for the whole.  Furthermore, the racist actions of one person or group of people does not excuse racist reactions from the opposite race.  Once again, it is the fringe folks who dominate the debate and polarize folks to their side by changing the perception.   Bottom line, we are all equally worthless.  Skin color don't make you good or bad, nor does it excuse any bad done, nor does it make you responsible for the actions of people who share your skin color.  The more we get hung up on race the more we deny the actual problem, and you can't fix what you don't acknowledge (to quote Dr. Phil).

  42. Can anyone point definitively to when "reparation" language first entered into the conversation? I'm assuming this is a later development, as I can't see it as having gotten any traction in the post-war South.

  43. For the record, I'm in agreement with Rob.  If you think that whites are the only ones with an interest in "preserving" America, then you really need to get out more.  You and reality parted ways sometime around 1955.

  44. I voted yes but I think it needs to be a total relaxation down to the word weapon.  That is, I would see *all* handheld weapons be made legal to carry (prefer: no permit needed).  Whether its a black rifle, AK pistol, nunchucks, switchblade, pepper spray, brass knuckles, sword, axe, you name it, all should be legal.   There is no reason for melee weapons to be illegal in a society that has concealed pistols on every 10th person.    And the penalty for ANY violence against another person should be so stiff that no one even THINKS of harming another person with any of these or other weapons or even unarmed.   The act is the crime, punish the act.  The tools used are of no importance.
