  2. Exactly 3 shots until the barrel is toast and the muzzle blast is the only noise that can be heard in space. And Chuck Norris IS afrad to shoot this.

  3. This thread is about nothing but validation of your choices to use a .22 lr in either a handgun or long gun. People give you suggestions and you respond by saying that answer doesn't fit your exact parameters. Welcome to the internet. When you post a question here, your gonna get opinons. Some are worth listening to, others aren't worth a tinkers damn. I would advise you read them all and consider them all. There are some very smart people here with tons of experience in survival situations and military situations. If you post a question with options a and b and 90% of the answer list option c, I might take that into consideration. That said, if I took one long rifle and one pistol on a bug out? Im taking my 1911 and my AR soon to be in 6.8. 22 lr is useless for damn near anything other than small game. You can't get consietent kills on medium sized and larger game, you cant do much more than harass a determined attack force. And a pistol is nothing but a qay to fight your way to a rifle. Harder to get good accuracy, less powerful ammo and smaller capacity. If my plan involved a .22 lr anything I would consider adding another weapon and leave the .22 for squirrels. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

  4. Don't get outraged over it, it gives validity to the stupidity.  This all disappears when we stop giving a damn about the people riding the wave for personal gain.

  5. Try not breaking the law and you might not have a negative experience. Funny how people complain after they have broken the law. I am a critic of bad officers but a officer writing you a speeding ticket is not a bad officer nor is it the officer's fault. Trust me when I say the vast majority of officers would rather not stop anyone and put their lives at risk.   Tasers help prevent injuries everyday and not just those from gun shot wounds. It prevents injuries that occur when chasing bad guys. It prevents injuries that occur when officers have to fight people for control. I would support using a taser over fighting or chasing a bad guy any day of the week. And any injuries caused to the bad guy during the use of the taser is not the officer's fault but the bad guys fault. They should have not chose to run or fight.   As far as the child a taser can go 20+ feet and an 11 year old with a 20' lead can probably out run a cop for 2x times that if they are in half way decent shape. That is 40' and if the girl was within than 40' range of the highway the taser may have saved her life. If you take an overweight, out of shape officer and pit them against most 11 year olds the child will run circles around them.

  6. The truth of the matter is that if you plan on bugging out to the woods, YOU WILL DIE. Bugging out is NOT just leaving civilization to go play in the woods and think you can actually survive for any length of time when youve never been anywhere wilder than the city park or zoo. Bugging out is leaving the city and TRAVELLING to your bug out location that is stocked with food, water, guns, ammo and all other supplies. You are only trying to get there. It should be no more than a 3 day hike or the range of your vehicle with a full tank and what full fuel cans you have on hand. If you dont have a bug out location, plan on staying put and bugging in. Bushcraft and living off the land isnt as easy as it sounds. You wont survive any real length of time no matter what kind of gear you have without an extensive skill set and lots of experience.

  7.   Benjamin Rush, a physician that signed the declaration of independence, said that being black was the result of a disease called "negritude", and the only cure to it was to become white.  How do you think this caused Dr. Rush to be remembered?  Probably not good right?  Except that he was one of the founders of the first anti-slavery groups in the country as well. The race baiters have used Dr. Rush before as an argument without mentioning he was an advocate for the abolishment of slavery.....   No matter what happens with the TM exploitation, people will believe what they want.  No reason to waste any energy on it; the facts are out there for those that want to know and for those that don't... well, there's a big painting in the FL capitol building.

  8. Long on speculation and opinions, short on truth or accuracy.  He makes it clear that he has no faith in the 9mm, but then admits that he's probably never seen a wound from a good 9mm duty load, only those from cheap fodder like Wolf or WWB.   I'll stick with DocGKR's work, which has been tested and verified.

  12. Maybe I'm wrong but it sounds to me as if you contacted him for the primary purpose of getting a rise out of him; if so, how would you expect him or anyone to react?  If I post something for sale it's no one's business how much I paid for it. If they don't like my price then they should move on or inquire if I'm wiling to negotiate...anyone calls me just to accuse me of doing something underhanded would probably get a similar or worse response from me than this fellow gave you.   -----------   While I'm still on my soapbox (directed at no one in particular let me just say that all these threads about people "hording ammo" and  complaints about them "just buying it to resell it" are getting really ridiculous; remembrances of small children crying on long plane rides come to mind as an apt analogy.   If people want to buy ammunition at whatever price they want to pay what the hell is the problem? It's their money and they can spend it any damn way they please. If someone else doesn't want to pay the prices being asked then fine, DON'T BUY THE AMMO; wait for a better deal or whatever...dozens of threads and hundreds of posts complaining about it isn't going to change anything..

  16. It's nice to see more common sense for a change. This guys is very well spoken and I especially like the "we're not the federal govt. we can't just print money, we have to work within the constraints of our budget".   I love the fact that they received 58 hours of training. I need to do the same.   http://video.foxnews.com/v/2597558032001/ark-school-district-to-arm-teachers-staff/

  17. That isn't the judges call to make. I don't agree with the Satan name change either, also not the judge's call. Regardless of what any government official's opinion on the matter is, the child's parents have sole right to decide the name of the child.

  18. In my opinion, if the officer was in range of a taser, he could have run up and grabbed the child for control purposes. I wasn't there, but it seems to me it was overkill!   Dave

  23. I looked into it a few years ago. IIRC, the break even was around 15 years or so. There were fewer moving parts that could go bad, but at the end of the payback period, you're still sitting on a 15 year old HVAC system. Our electricity in TN is cheap relative to other parts of the country. For me, it didn't make sense. Seemed like it might in places like California with higher electric rates or for someone trying to get off the grid or nearly off the grid. The earth beneath you makes a difference in the cost too. I'd expect east TN to be more costly to install than west TN because of hitting rock sooner, but that's just a guess. Wilson Co. is a rock farm, so I wouldn't expect drilling to be cheap.       Edit: Correcting my apparently poor sense of direction.

  25. Thanks for posting this, as I'm sure it's informative to folks.   In my experience, however, bullets will make holes in people, and they won't like it when you do.  The hollowpoints in my 9mm and .45 might not be the "be all, end all" for every situation, but I can assure you they will make holes, and they will hurt if not kill a person.  There are only a few places you can hit on a person's body that will instantaneously take them down.  I might try like hell to hit those places, but the reality is when your adrenaline kicks in and you are not lined up perfectly with a stationary E-type from 7 meters, you probably aren't going to have perfect shot placement anyway.  Realistically it is a race to put as many holes into the bad guy as quick as you can before he makes you dead.

  26. Patrick has done a couple of grips for me. I always ask him for little to no bark. Here is some of his work on my S&W 38-44 Heavy Duty. I actually have a set of 1911 panels that he did for me with vintage Colt medallions that I will someday built a custom retro 1911 around.

  28. Good luck finding a fat 1lb squirrel let alone at LEAST four of them every day. 2000 calories is considered a normal diet, not an active persons calorie consumption. You could easily double that being outdoors. Cleaning, preserving, and packing deer meat? Trust me, lol... Its been done as many times as there are stars in the sky. You know whats actually ridiculous? Surviving on squirrel meat. Ive never heard of anyone surviving on squirrel. Maybe a skilled native american two hundred years ago before we populated this continent.

  36. I don't think many people here mind others being critical of abusive police, but it gets annoying when anytime someone gets put on the ground with any more force than it takes to lay a puppy down, they yell out police abuse, and how we are becoming a police state and the police are becoming militarized and they are secretly stockpiling food at the fema camps and are buying armored vehicles to use against innocent citizens.   It's the same stuff every time, we've heard people crying wolf for so long that when a legit incident occurs, all you will see is people being critical of the situation because they are so tired of hearing it.

  38. He can’t be charged with carrying at a posted business, he owns the business. What the Mall owners can do depends on what the contract says. He could be charged for shooting at the fleeing suspects, but it doesn't sound like that is happening. What he did was reckless.

  39. Mr. Cooper had his version of the perfect 1911, just as most everyone else who's tinkered with them does. After several years of buying, selling, shooting, adding, subtracting, and modifying parts, I've found my perfect 1911 is one of the least expensive I've owned. It is a Rock Island Armory with an officer sized grip frame, and a 4" barrel. I added an Colt ambi safety, three dot sights, and a pair of Grashorn Elk Stag grips. I can't find anything else to do to it. It shoots and feels great, good trigger, and is dead reliable. Sometimes you get more than what you pay for. 41. I've become more and more cynical as time has gone on... I don't really believe much of these survival shows anymore... Survivorman was better, but all the rest... I have a particular disdain for Naked and Afraid just on principle, I mean... come on... what's the appeal of a couple hippies or nudists or whatever they are running around the jungle? These ridiculous shows are getting out of hand.

  42. How is that harassment? I know you love posting shit trying to get a rise out of people but this isn't anything. The guy and or group have no legal ability to attach anything to the overpass. When the guy tries to go over to interfere with the highway worker the officer stops hm. He refuses to back up he gets backed up. Then he flops down worse than Lebron James. His being a vet doesn't have anything to do with this other than using it as a crutch to get sympathy.
