  1. People have a right to buy and sell what they want that's the american way regardless of the product. Way I see it you have two choices buy it from the resellers or don't there's no need in crying and bitching because someone has seen a way to make money. If you don't want to pay inflated prices wait it out it'll settle down one day maybe. Some may call me a hoarder that's OK but I've been buying ammo powder bullets and primers way before this ever happened. Yes I have more than I'll ever need in my lifetime. One day it may become a lifesaver and bargaining power to survive, I hope not but I also don't see this country getting any better. sent from my RAZR Maxx HD using Tapatalk 2

  5. I made this one today. Its a little outside my norm, but I plan to make more this style, with the blade ground down, instead of a forge finish. It was designed with being a great hiking, fishing, hunting, and general woodsmans knife. Completely ground to keep it clean for food prep, light enough to make it easy to carry, but sturdy enough for camp chores. 1095 steel from a Nicholson File, unknown wood for handle. Full tang, 5.5" blade, 4.5" handle, 10" overall. Full flat grind, with a razor edge. 7. None, and mine never will go up. I don't have insurance. If I see a physician I pay with cash or I DON'T see one. Upon implementation of ghettocare I will become a criminal I suppose. I will not comply. I will not pay the fine. They can kiss my azz. I see medical care no differently than a mechanic. I dont get my car fixed and NOT pay the bill. I don't get an insurance policy to pay it for me. Payment due for services rendered at the time of completion. If it costs me my life because I cannot afford their service, that does NOT make them some soulless monster. That's just life. If I can't afford food and I starve to death, it ain't Krogers problem. Jeez! Who sat around and let me run off on that unnecessary tangent!?!?

  8. Uh, no. Even if they filled the contracts in one year, it would only equate to 3%-4% of total production. Those contracts are over a 5 year period to begin with and haven't even begun to be filled. It's not helping but the only reason there is a shortage is that the demand from regular consumers is that high. I know it's hard to believe but there really are that many people buying that much ammo. If you just look at the shear number of NICS checks you will start to understand. Multiply that number exponentially with ammo consumption and there is your shortage. Manufacturers make ammo on schedules based on yearly projections. When those orders are increased dramatically overnight it takes them nearly a year to fully cycle production numbers up to meet demand. Even if the manufacturers started new lines it would take them the better part of a year to get a production tooling up and running. Then you have to train new employees to run tooling. It's not like making burgers at McDonald's.   I'm told Kel-Tec doesn't even have the time to train new workers or they'd fall farther behind. Truly interesting times in the gun world.

  9. It might make everyone angry but buying for a given price and marking up for a profit is capitalism. If you got a deal on a car and flipped it for a profit, what's the difference? Sure, somebody would be pissed but that's just life. It all boils down to the haves and the have nots. The have nots are always upset with the haves for having something they want. Fair pricing and price control for anything is communism. That's why there are anti-monopoly laws. To keep absolute control out of people's hands. And, as has been stated over and over, there is no law that says you have to buy anything you fell is unreasonably priced.

Or Paul/Cruz, or Cruz/Paul, whatever.   One thing about Christie, though, he's the only one on the GOP horizon that seems to have a chance to turn some of the blue states red in a national election. 15. The only thing that will stop people from buying ammunition to resell at an inflated price is when people stop buying at the inflated price; bitching and moaning about it isn't going to change a thing...it's simple capitalism.   This situation should, among other things, tell folks that they need a good supply of ammunition bought over time so that when market fluctuations like this happen they aren't caught off guard.  It's no different than someone who goes to the grocery every night on their way home so that they can buy what they are going to have for dinner that night; have a supply so that when they predict a 1/16 inch of snow you don't have to rush to Kroger's just to make sure you have some milk and bread in the house.

  16. Then that makes half the people in the country who work hard for a living a criminal. I don't know very many people that I would consider a hard worker that DOESN'T flip an item or two for profit. What else can a man do to make ends meet? I said it before and I know y'all don't like it but I think most people are mad about this because they want something today, for yesterday's price. The market dictates price. Not what we all think is fair. If there were no market for this ( meaning people buying it) then they wouldn't be do this. Another thing that'll really ruffle some feathers; people have done this to themselves by becoming dependent on real time inventory. For 99% percent of us, there's NO reason we should be desperately looking for rim fire ammo. It's been cheap all my life up till recently and so I bought plenty based on my theoretical consumption. If you typically shoot a box a week and you only buy a box a week, then you shouldn't be surprised that you're out when supply stops. This really is a silly argument on both sides. My point of view is silly, as is everyone else's. Why would I say that? Because its foolish to complain and worry over the things you have NO power to change. Who by worrying can ad one cubit to his stature? We can't force them to produce more no matter how much we scream. We can't force people to stop jacking up prices. The only tool we have is to vote with our wallet and refuse to do business with those we disagree with. ....and yes I know I'm a hypocrite because I'm constantly bitching about things. LOL!

  17. This is purely speculation on my part because I have never shot a deer with a 223. I expect the violent expansion of the average soft point 223 bullet into the lungs/heart area would cause a great deal of shock and damage and be an instant killer, while the 308 would expand some, but not as much, and cause less damage on a clean pass through shot. The kicker for me is that in the event you miss the shot a bit and hit the shoulder, the 308 would penetrate and do much more damage than the 223, which would likely only cause a severe surface wound. You may be flawless with a rifle in the woods, but I'm not. Things happen, and I like the added security of penetration that comes with a larger round.

  20. Frozen Head has the best non-backcountry tent camping of any state park I've found so far. Period. That's my little tent on the right side of D3vo's picture. The primitive group camps are perfect for people who don't want to be next to an RV, 5 feet from another campsite, or carry an 80 lb. pack 5 miles into the woods. It's only about a 1/4 mile walk back to the main camp site for the indoor plumbing and showers. It's the perfect balance between primitive and modern for car-based tent camping.   As far as I've been able to find, it's the only thing like it in all of the State Parks. Some others have "tent only" camping areas, but they're small gravel pads (aka Chickasaw SP) that are relatively close to one another. They're set up like the main RV-centric campgrounds, just without the RVs and electric hookups.   ochretoe...are you listening? We need more primitive small group camps like Frozen Head's.  :)

  22. After building my KP-31 I started looking into the history of the submachine guns of that time.  I learned that from the KP-31 the Russians designed the PPD then the PPSH-41 and later the PPs-41 as the cheaper alternative.  After the war the Finnish redesigned the KP-31 as the KP-44 based off the Russian PPs-43's.  So I am building the design evolution of these particular rifles over the next month or two as the kits and parts come in.  I'm also about to start an entirely unrelated build of the Czech SA 26.

Dual, self-cleaning gas operated pistons make it one of the softest recoiling 12 gauges out there.  It's my wife's go to long gun of choice, and she's not a big person.   It's a gun the understands the difference between the trigger being pulled and the action being manually operated.   It's ghost ring sights are a welcome addition to a shotgun - especially with night sights.   Oh yeah.  7 in the tube, one on the elevator and 1 in the pipe make for 9 rounds of firepower.

  31. Hmm, you are actually expecting an outrage? I have 40 acres and a mule, I'd like to sell you.. When you have a president and a DOJ that condones violence and intimidation, but punish folks doing the right thing, this is going to become the new norm, except they didn't take everything into consideration. The fact that there are armed/unarmed citizens, that will quickly bite that sh!t in the butt with a quickness..    Could the Bus driver intervene instead of yelling at them? sure. did he? no. Why? Because people are afraid of doing the right thing fearing getting sued or becoming a outcast in their society. The victim needs to lawyer up and sue the crap out them, the school, and last the bus driver for not doing squat.    BTW, I used to get into fights on a private bus when I was in Elementary School, the bus driver would stop the bus and yank the shit out of us to separate those that were fighting. Something we would just pull the folks out of the bus and continue it, he would get off and try to separate us, so yes, I'm going to say the bus driver sat on his butt on this one and is a coward. It's a moral obligation!!

  33. If it is in the contract then that is what should be followed, nothing more and nothing less. The property owner cannot arbitrarily change the contract in mid contract and if they do they need to pay. But with that being said the property owner can stipulate any condition in the contract and as long as it doesn't violate laws it is perfectly legal. The property owner can mandate in the contract that all tenants wear pink and drive a Yugo. And if the tenant signs the contract they must follow those rules and if they don't they are in violation of the contract.   This is not a constitutional issue at all. It is a contractual issue.   Property owners cannot take away a person's right to protect themselves but they can mandate how a person does protect themselves while on their property. No one has a right to carry a firearm, or any other item, on someone else's property against the property owner's wishes. Just like no one has the right to say or wear what they want on someone else's property.

  34. Generation Kill has to be my favorite, although it's a mini-series, not a movie. They almost hit the nail on the head with that one. Painting war as anything but glamorous and focusing on much of the BS that goes with being in that environment. Hollywood has acted like they want to make an effort with movies like The Hurt Locker, but they make it so stupid, unrealistic and dramatic that no one with two days in the military would classify it as being accurate or even mildly entertaining. Generation Kill really focused on the people of the story from their perspective, rather than focusing on exploits and drama.

  41. You know there are reasons why beer is kept cold other than because someone wants to drink it right out of the cooler, right? The problem isn't with people drinking WHILE driving, it's with people drinking THEN driving. People drink at home and get on the road all the time. Gas stations keeping beer cold is not the problem. Bars are not the problem. Alcohol is not the problem. Making any argument other than personal responsibility is the same as supporting gun control laws that restrict carry, magazine limits, types of firearms and ammunition. Once again, blaming inanimate objects or suggesting the restriction of everyone for the actions of a few.

  46. I have all but stopped drinking when I am out 'in public'.  For one thing, I'd rather legally carry my handgun in public than legally drink a beer in public so since I am usually carrying, the decision of whether or not to drink in a public place is rendered moot.  Honestly, though, part of the reason is monetary.  I can buy a sixpack of decent beer for just about the same price that a couple of glasses of watered-down, mass-market swill would cost at a restaurant.  Likewise, for what a couple of mixed drinks would cost at a restaurant, I can buy a pint of pretty good stuff and pour them as strong as I want at home.   I also wouldn't drink even at home while shooting targets in the back yard, etc.  I simply don't see a 'need' for it nor do I think it would enhance my enjoyment of target shooting.   As others have said, though, if I am at home and have a firearm in my pocket or within arm's reach, the idea of drinking one beer isn't going to make me freak out and start locking everything up.  If I were going to have more than one, I'd be more likely to put the firearms out of reach but it is so rare that I have more than one, anymore, that I don't even devote much thought to that.   Certainly everyone needs to make decisions that will contribute to firearm safety.  I do believe, however, that our collective 'ideas' about alcohol consumption are influenced by the long-reaching shadow of Prohibition as well as living in the Bible Belt.   Case in point:  Way back in the mid 1990s, some friends and I spent a week at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico (Puerto Vallarta - before that location apparently became a big 'gay' vacation destination.)  We went into town on a couple of days to souvenir hunt and just to try and get some idea of what daily life there would be like.  I went into one store and bought a beer.  Now, this wasn't a Budwater, etc.  This was a La Boheme (Bohemia) that had not been watered down for importation into the U.S. (I have had Bohemia here and the alcohol content was around 4% - the one in Mexico clearly stated on the label that the alcohol content was 7%.)  I paid for it, the clerk popped the lid off for me and bid me a good day.  I asked, "So, I can just drink this while walking down the street?" and she assured me that, yes, it was no problem.  Well, as I exited the store I noticed that there was a road construction crew working on fixing the street outside that store.  They were apparently taking a break - and most if not all of them were drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette.  No one was freaking out that they were drinking 'on the job' or while operating construction equipment.  Obviously, having a beer on break was considered commonplace so I am guessing that it didn't regularly result in death and mayhem.   My point is that, despite how even the non-religious among us might have our opinions and attitudes regarding alcohol influenced by the specters of Prohibition and Protestantism, I don't believe that 'demon alcohol' is going to invade my body, mind and spirit and cause me to start shooting up the place after only one beer any more than that evil gun in my pocket or holster is going to jump out and start shooting up the place all on its own.  Notice that, so far, no one who has answered the poll has indicated that carrying and having even one would be okay anywhere and everywhere - pretty much just at home.  Further, no one has indicated that they think it would be okay to be 'snockered' and carrying a gun.   Oh, and just something I found interesting, as an aside:   When I was in Mexico, the conversion rate was roughly 100 pesos per American dollar.  A Coca-Cola purchased at one of the little stores in town was about 90 pesos.  That La Boheme beer I bought was seventy-something pesos and the bottles were the same size.  So Coca-Cola was more expensive than beer.

  47.   ...and, you can be drunker than Cooter Brown and still legally defend yourself with a gun. Like I said, I don't "carry" when I'm at home. Don't see the need. I'm just certain that I can keep a gun from discharging, even when I'm totally shitfaced.
