This Travon crap is getting very stupid. He was a thug and just happened to get killed. Game over. The rest of the world needs to get over it.5 points

It should just languish in an evidence property room for a few decades gathering dust until some intern 50 years from now finds it in a stack of stuff that no one alive remembers...I can almost see the intern now, opening up the bag it's in, looking at the name on the bad and wondering aloud... "Trayvon Martin? Who the hell was Trayvon Martin and why do we have his skanky hoodie?" Unless the Smithsonian is putting together an exhibit of "this is what happens when you act like a "gansta" I can't see how it deserves to be "preserved" for posterity.3 points

Guys, if you care about our nation's history you are only doing a disservice to yourself to avoid the Smithsonian. I've been to most of the great museums in the world and there simply is nothing else like it anywhere. You could spend days just in the Museum of American History alone not to mention the two Air and Space Museums, and the Museum of Natural History. Combine that with the National Archives and the Library of Congress and a person could spend his/her life just exploring those places and never be exposed to it all. I'm not discounting all the other places in the country of historical significance but honestly, if our history is important to you; go to DC and at least take in the Museum of American History.2 points

I don’t care what you have quoted: you are wrong. Rarely is a warrant needed on the search of a person or a vehicle; it certainly isn't the "rule of thumb". Whether or not there was PC or whether or not he was an immediate threat will be dealt with in front of a Judge; not argued on the street. Goof ball has proven himself to be a very real threat. A person could not be mentally stable and do the things he has done or threatened to do the things he has threatened to do. If the news is correct he has taken this so far that he has either been suspended or fired from his job. As a taxpayer I’m not big on paying lawsuits because of incompetence. But I fully support what these Officers did and if a jury could award him anything it would only be proof that our system is severely broken. Walking away and leaving this nutcase with a weapon that had not been checked would be incompetent. No one’s rights were violated. The people of the city of Nashville were being threatened by an intentional display designed by a deranged mind to scare them. If any Police Officer fears a lawsuit enough to let that happen; they are in the wrong job. I’m ashamed that he is a gun owner and I’m ashamed that friends and people at work have asked me what’s up with this nutcase because they think he’s some kind of pro 2nd supporter. He’s a dirt bag trying to make a buck off the system; maybe the system will destroy him.2 points

I've always found Phill (owner of Bellshire's Hardware) to be very fair. They usually seem to be some of the cheapest, as far as local shops are concerned.2 points

I'm staggered by the knowledge exhibited by Ms. Boots. Perhaps she's simply got good google-fu, but the fact that this was included in the article is amazing to me... Perhaps I shouldn't be amazed, but I am. After all, this seems to be the norm...2 points

Personally he is the BEST candidate to test the TFFA and see if it stands up. Just think, if he tests it and it holds up against the feds, we win by having a legal precedent. If he tests it and loses and gets locked up for real finally, we win by not having to deal with his shenanigans anymore. Win/Win situation1 point

I think those mayors knows what MAIG is about, they probably start to catch heat from many of their constituents so they play dumb. They want to get re-elected someday. In a familiar case close to home, one quit MAIG's and pretended he didn't know how anti-gun they were so he could get elected to a higher office, it worked.1 point

You aint from around here are you? :) "Him of whom we do not speak" but speak about anyway, has a long a storied history of asshole-like actions such as the subject of this thread as well as phenomenally crazy, irrational, condescending and combative posts on this and every single forum he's ever been a former member of (emphasis on "former" as he's been banned from all of them, apparently even a Golden Retrieve forum; go figure). No one knows his true motivations although we all have our theories but at the end of the day, most of us seem to agree that his actions are stupid, and irresponsible as well as detrimental to the overall firearm community and for that, he is usually treated with scorn and acrimony. P.S. And to simplify yes...he's an asshole.1 point

Welp the exigent circumstance exemption to warrantless search would not have applied in this case because there was no "urgency of action" required to prevent imminent harm, to keep evidence from being destroyed or to prevent the escape of a suspect. That's not just "my opinion" that's just how exigent circumstance exemptions are triggered. But yes, if those triggerable conditions are met, exigent circumstances do carry a lot of weight.1 point

Me and my old boss used to say we were born 150-200 years too late and we shoulda been mountain men or frontiersmen. I am reminded of this every day now it seems. Sure is a lot of stupid shit now and getting worse by the day.1 point

The gen 4 is what finally turned me onto Glock. 2mm difference in grip works for me. I in no way intend to steal or steer this thread in a different direction, but if you read the book "Glock: Rise Of America's Gun" eye opener. I admire what he accomplished, but he was not a good person. Maybe wealth and success got to him. I can't say as I've never had either one .For what they are, I think current pricing is good. Not stupid expensive, but priced low enough that they are easily in reach to everyone.1 point

Yes. He needs to sever the tissue that connects the testicles to the main douchetard, and then sue the knife company for violating his reproductive rights. Oh yeah... and he needs to put the whole thing on Youtube.1 point

Catching the repeat of Greta right now, she's interviewing Drew Johnson. Looks like he'll be getting some press around FOX in next day or so, probably O'Reilley or Hannity or both. "Another job loss due to Obama" he said with a grin. My guess is with the exposure, he'll get picked up by some conservative media or other, Tucker Carlson, Jim Demint, etc. Hell, maybe FOX itself. - OS1 point

Actually JayC's comments have all been very accurate, the textbook definition of proper-procedure & supportive judicial rulings he's mentioned were identical to the education & training that I recieved.1 point

Bela Twin killed the then world record grizzly in 1953 with a single shot .22LR, and apparently with one shot: "On a spring day back in 1953, 63-year-old Bella Twin and her friend Dave Auger were hunting grouse and picking berries near Lesser Slave Lake in the Swan Hills of northern Alberta, Canada. As the story goes, they were walking an oil-exploration survey line when they ran into a humongous grizzly bear following the same line toward them. The two feared that if they ran, the grizzly would notice them and give chase, so they hid in a brush pile and hoped the big bruin would pass without any trouble. Unfortunately for the bear, it was intent on getting its share of berries and came very near Twin and Auger. Frightened by the close encounter, Twin raised the rifle she was carrying and fired. Her aim was dead on. The grizzly was struck in the head and fell dead. Bella’s bear was no ordinary griz. Its skull scored 26 5/16, placing it at the top of the list of Boone and Crockett world’s records where it stayed for many years. The bear currently ranks number 30 among the all-time records and still stands as the longest-reigning provincial big-game record in Alberta. In the half century since Twin killed her record grizzly, many differing accounts of the incident have been given. However, all of them agree on one thing: little Bella Twin killed that 1,000-pound-plus griz with the humblest of all rifles—a single-shot, bolt-action, .22-caliber rimfire. With just one long-rifle cartridge, this petite Cree Indian grandmother finished off one of the biggest grizzlies ever documented and earned remembrance as one of the world’s truly legendary hunters." Some accounts say she after the bear fell, though apparently dead from the single shot, she used the other 6 or 7 rounds she had with her to make sure. - OS1 point

Thanks for all the advice guys. I wouldnt really try to negotiate the amount down as it such a trivial amount. I think I am going try and have a pay for deletion though. No matter the outcome, I will have something in writing saying the debt will be free and clear if paid otherwise there wont be any payment. Not having it in writing is what caused all of this to begin with1 point

I don't want to make light of the death of a bear. I don't want to but this damned smartass nature of mine won't be stopped so: The article says that the bear turned his rear toward the hiker. The hiker then said, "Hey, bear," in an attempt to let the bear know he was there and not startle it. At that point, the bear charged at the hiker. Being as it had just turned its rear toward him, I wonder if the bear might have misheard, "Hey, bear," and though that the hiker was calling him a, "Gay bear." Maybe the bear then went running toward the guy to exclaim that he (the bear) was NOT gay - just curious. Would that make killing the bear a hate crime?1 point

I agree. Who knows what will come down the pike next and further the anxiety of shooters and negatively affect availabilty even more? Being prepared is good- the scalping is not.1 point
-
At this point, I don't even blame folks who are buying for their own use who buy as much as they can even if they won't be shooting it, immediately. After all, if you happen to find some .22LR (for example) on a shelf at a 'normal' price, who is to say when you will ever see it, again, or that you might not be able to find any the next two or three times you want to go shooting? I'd rather those folks buy it, if they can, before the scalpers have a chance at it. It is the folks who are buying only to resell at profiteering prices that I would like to see take a good, swift kick in the nether regions from a Belgian draft horse.1 point

Cops stood by during the LA riots as they watched people being murdered and brutally assaulted and did nothing. This is why I'll never understand liberals when they say you don't need a gun because that's what police are for. Obviously it isn't.1 point

That's often said, but really not fair in this case. The only way he could vote against it was to allow it to come to a vote, and the GOP decided it was better to actually defeat the thing than prevent it coming to the floor at all. And they knew they had enough Dem votes to do it even with four GOP defectors, or they wouldn't have. Though most here absolutely skewered all of them for doing it. - OS1 point

No. He was simply one of the numerous GOP senators who voted to end filibuster and take up the Manchin-Toomey Background Check Bill back in April, the actual passage of which both he and Lamar voted nay. - OS1 point

I think you give this idiot far too much credit; although it wouldn't be measurable without a microscope I'd have at least a touch of respect for him/his motives if he actually were an anti-gun nut trying to erode ourability to carry...no...I believe he is just a news hound who like the attention and is hoping to score that one, big lawsuit to fund his retirement.1 point
