In Atlanta, GA right now and was at the Cheesecake Factory at the Perimeter Mall (imagine Cool Springs area). Was sitting in the bar area (not drinking, was carrying) and over head the following conversation. I realize there are some racial aspects to what was said; but I think the conversation is proof that people are getting fed up with what's going on. Or this could just be racist. Also, I don't purport that everything said in the conversation is 100% factual (they said it, not me, I sat by quietly). Guy 1(complaining to his friend): man, dey cut me off today, took my Obamaphone, my EBT, and my disability because they found out I got a job; dey forgot about what dey owe me for all dem years my ancestors spent in slavery, haha Guy 2 (not his friend, some other guy at bar): oh yea? they cut you off because they found out you were cheating the system? #1: its not cheatin' punk cuz i'm related to slaves #2: huh, i see, well i'm still waitin/ on them to start paying me back cuz of all the Jews enslaved and killed during the Holocaust #1: dey do dat? what?! why dey do dat? if dey cut dat off then dey could pay ME! #2: well just as many, if not more, Jewish people were enslaved and murdered during the Holocaust as were during slavery, so why shouldn't they? #1: n**ga are you even Jewish to know what you talkin' 'bout? #2: no, i'm not, and you ain't out pickin' my cotton fields either boy so shut the f*** up about what society owes you for being related to a slave. being black doesn't entitle you to anything more than me being white entitles me to anything. the only thing you're enslaved to is that EBT card, that Obamaphone, and anything else this f***ed up government gives to you without working for it, and i'm d**n tired of paying for sc**w-ups like you #1: man f*** you, i'm gettin' out of this racist joint. (leaves without paying for his and his friends dinner) Thankfully nothing violent went down. I thought about posting this in the thread about white people rioting, and even though the guys do seem to be a bit racist, I think it speaks more to the growing discontent and divide between the working class and what I call the "from the tit" class.7 points

I'm getting real sick of this ####. Was the Zimmerman case just too complicated for these feeble minded douchebags to understand? Amazing5 points

You know... this "neo-revolutionary" bravado is a cyclical thing. It comes and goes on the Internet where talk is cheap and no one dies as a result of what they post, but I'm getting to the point where I'm tired of hearing it (again) and wish someone would either put up or shut up.4 points

Yeah, whole different ballgame regarding women. Once I had to take the bus to Pittsburgh to pick up a truck, lady at the counter was a knockout, with eye-popping hooters, so the filter failed when I said, "A picket to Titsburg, please". But the worst was when I was having breakfast with my wife, and I meant to say "Please pass the sugar, hon", but what came out was "YOU G****N BITCH YOU'VE RUINED MY F*****G LIFE!" - OS4 points

Can you really blame them. Used to be all a criminal had to worry about was a cop happening by a crime and shooting him. Now they have to worry that every potential victim could shoot them. If I were a thug, I would be protesting against Stand You Ground As Well.4 points

Holding the evidence while there is still an open investigation (even if the investigation is a staged one) is not a big deal. I predict that after a period of time and most of the racists and "social engineers" have quieted down and bit and most others are simply tired of hearing about "justice for Trayvon"; Holder will issue a press release that the law sets such a "high bar" for conviction and some lame excuses he'll say that the DOJ is not going to bring charges in the case. Ultimately, I think Holder would prefer to not file charges on some excuses than to file charges it knows it can't win and look much worse. In the meantime, if Zimmerman needs a firearm I'll loan him one of mine.3 points

I really can't think of a single reason why I should care what the (liberal) Black Caucus wants or thinks. Haters are going to hate. Race-baiters are going to turn everything into a racial incident.3 points

I've asked this of others who, in other settings and in other threads, have intimated that "voting" or "the polls" are the answer but I wonder; on what basis do you think that voting in different people will actually change anything? No Democrat is going to change anything. 80% of (the establishment) Republicans aren't going to change anything any more than the Democrats will. The third parties (Conservative, Libertarian or whatever the third party flavor of the moment exists) don't have enough support to even get elected; much less change anything. Of the decent, conservative/libertarian, principled people who have been elected most of those have fallen comfortably into the establishment. I see no candidate, let alone enough of them, to effect any change whatsoever or that they want to effect change...no one has the balls to even tread water and just stop government spending and intrusion where it is now. So please tell me how the polls are going to change anything? :shrug:3 points

For some people, it's not another chore that needs doing, it's a hobby and a lifestyle of choice. Therefore, it's much like a TRUE Christian. If its all for naught, then in the end, nothing is lost because the journey was enjoyable. I actually USE a lot of what some call preps. I rotate food. I actually SHOOT my ammo instead of hoarding it up. I use the oldest and replace it with fresh goods. If this is all for nothing, so what? When I die, I won't care anyway. Maybe after I'm gone, what I've put away may make the difference between life and death to a man and his wife and kids. If I don't use what I tuck away and after I'm gone, some random dude saves the life of his little girl because he happened upon my stash or stuff then my labor was WELL worth my time.3 points

My fellow TGO family, a decade ago, I felt like I lived a life. Woke up, went to the gym, went to work, and came home to hang out with friends and family. My only worry was how many reps of 225 I could do. I drove lifted trucks and gave two cents worth of thought to how much gas cost. I really miss those days, because every day now, this sh$! is hammering down on people who OBEY the law, not gangs or just plain worthless people. I fear that we all may be fighting side by side to protect our families on our own damn soil against people who want to be slaves. God bless the USA and all of you! Proud to be here with every one of you.3 points

I am so sick of this crap. So a black youth gets killed by a white neighborhood watchman and the world goes crazy. We have a full year of media insanity over this case, and its all because a white man killed a black kid. Where was the media outrage and frenzy when a bunch of black folks gangraped, tortured and executed two white folks (Christian / Newsom)? God this is ridiculous.3 points

Tell them to send some white kids through the hood one at a time, acting however they want, and see what happens. Any kid should be safe, but any person should be able to protect their life.3 points

It’s a sad day when people can openly commit conspiracy to kidnap and murder; and the Police do nothing. And you can’t blame that on Holder. Any law enforcement agency that had jurisdiction could have arrested those people. Those agencies don’t answer to Holder or Obama; they should be ashamed.2 points

From the article: "Rolling Stone is standing by its cover." What else are they going to do? Can you imagine how much it would cost to do another print run with a different cover? I hope the damn things pile up on their loading dock and dumpsters across the country. I've got a subscription, so I'll be getting one in the mail. I think I'll take it to the range for target practice. I think some ranges get a little touchy about human picture or human silhouette targets . . . (??)2 points

I agree 100%! The last thing we need is to elect someone with financial pains that will be very tempted to vote theirselves out of those very pains. I'm against the idea that one must be extremely wealthy to run and be elected to office but I would like to see that they are capable of handling their own money in a responsible manner, especially since they would be handling ours.2 points

“No child should ever have to be afraid to walk peacefully down the sidewalk without being attacked because of the way they dress or the color of their skin,†state Rep. Larry Miller" Couldn't agree more. What does this have to do with SYG though? Before anyone answers, I ready know. Nothing. Not a hot damn thing, once again we are treated to another example of the "do something, anything at all" mentality that is so prevalent anymore. I have to say if I were black I would be furious with my "representation" from all these as$holes. Stop stirring the $hit and let us all get back to it, life's hard enough without living in a constant state of outrage.2 points

Well I think I have finally finished my Glock collection. As you can tell, I'm a Glock fan. Models listed as seen in picture: G17 G19 G26 G34 G22 G23 G27 G35 G20 G29 G21 G36 G30 G31 G32 G33 All are gen3 except for the gen4 G32. I have no plans to add the .45 GAP models (never see ammo or the actual guns).1 point

I keep reading how everyone is pissed off at the Republicans and the Democrats, some sort of revolutionary change is needed, but nobody wants to start that revolution as the founders of this democratic republic intended, which is through the ballot box. We all know the two major parties aren't looking out for our interests nor are they going to change, but when it comes to Election Day, virtually everyone runs to the polls and votes for one of the two major parties anyhow. When anyone suggests a third party, like the Libertarian Party, nobody will vote because "they can't win." Well no frigging wonder. The overwhelming majority of Americans have voluntarily enslaved themselves to the two major parties, which is exactly where they want you. I'm a believer in the old saying, we get the government we deserve and anyone who votes for any Republican Party or Democratic Party member is getting the tyranny they deserve. Then there is the Tea Party, which is a bunch of establishment Republicans who know how to talk a good game and dupe people into voting for them. Even the caucus' former leader Michelle Bachman made it very clear that the Tea Party Caucus was nothing more than a "repository for ideas" and that the opinions of constituents was basically meaningless. Keep drinking the two-party Kool Aid folks. That's what they are scaring you and paying you off with government benefits to do.1 point

Dave, I've never suggested such an action is a 'good thing', nor that it will lead to something better, or even as good as what we have now... Only that contrary to our normalcy bias, the risk of a successful insurgency is very well within reach of our current situation. We're much more likely to end up with a Stalin, or Mao than we are another Washington. I don't have a crystal ball, and the truth is nobody knows what things look like on the other side of this type of singularity event. If history is any guide, the likely outcome of an insurgency would be a stalemate between the sides, and a political 'solution' to bring the conflict to a close, and we've seen just how well that has worked in other parts of the world. But, again I don't know, and anything I might say is pure speculation. Just because nobody can predict what would happen in the aftermath of such an insurgency/revolution, doesn't mean we can discount the possibility of an insurgency or revolution from within, nor the likely awful bloodshed that is likely to follow any such event. Make no mistake, I hope to never see such a thing come to past, but it's a mistake to think we're somehow special and therefore immune from it happening, or that somehow our government or military is this unstoppable force that nothing including the will of the people can stop. We've been shown time and time again our military is completely unable to win at 'nation building', every example except for 1 has turned into a complete train wreck over the last 75 years, and trying to do so at home would end up being a much worse failure than any before it.1 point

It's a fine line isn't it? Haslam's got money. Do you trust him? Sunquist had money. Would anybody vote him back in office? That Almost offends me. I graduated public school systems in the last 40 Years and went on to college, Paid off those loans and became a productive member of society....WHY? BECAUSE MY PARENTS TAUGHT ME THAT IS HOW LIFE WORKS. My point is education starts at home. I have 2 daughters in college and both have jobs and take care of most of their own business. Why? Because according to htem I am a "HARDASS"because I have to be. One has gotten to the age where she understands why I am such a hardass on them and the other still hates me....so be it...She will understand someday!!!!!They didn't get pregnant in HS to get more money for mom's welfare. Education starts at home.1 point

The scariest part of all of this, to me, may be that you and I appear to be in very nearly 100% agreement on something. Most of the time when we become involved in discussions of other issues, our thoughts/opinions are directly opposed. Quick, let's find something to disagree about before I get really freaked out!1 point

It was discovered earlier today that the TM protestors are actually all members of the Occupy Wall Street movement from last year. L.A. and Oakland PD started firing bean bags into the crowd this afternoon and it didn't phase the groups at all, so they switched to using non-lethal rubber bullets. This also had almost no effect on the protestors. The police then decided to load their guns a third time and started shooting job applications into the crowd, which resulted in an immediate dispersement of the entire group. The streets of LA and Oakland have been quiet ever since.1 point

The 223 if fine for perfectly placed shots. The problem is you do not always have a perfect broadside shot. In my opinion, the 223 is to small for the less than perfect shots. I want a little more power for shots that are not just punching through lungs. Our jobs as hunters are to ethically take animals. I would rather see a hunter use something more than the minimum required to give them a little leeway. Of course this is my opinion and you know what they say about opinions...1 point
