The biggest threat an armed society poses is to keep at bay any political over ambition (nice way of saying "Control of the Masses). The end goal is clearly the total ban of all firearms. A simple google search of statements made to disarm America will give hours of reading from many reliable sources. The extreme Liberal knows that mass killings cannot be stopped in cases of dedicated, violent and focused individuals or groups. They don't really care, but will use every tragedy to further the end goal. It's all about getting control and forcing America to depend on it's government for everything.2 points

As a few of you know I'm addicted to Berettas & have been on the lookout for an Inox (stainless) model Beretta 92FS in my price range for years without any luck. I spotted this one a few days ago and had to grab it! She's a beauty & in new condition with all stainless controls & included the factory hard case, two 15 round mags, and a set of walnut grips with Beretta emblems. I took the walnut grips off and replaced them with a set of aluminum grips, but may put them on another pistol.2 points

If I were in charge this is how things would be. Upon conviction they will have all hair removed from their body. Preferably through the use of some sort of pill or treatment. If not they will at a minimum have their head/face shaved. After that it will never happen again while in custody. While incarcerated food would meet nutritional requirements without any consideration as to how it tasted. The entire meal would be blended together and served as a soup. They will be issued a cup when they enter their cell and that is what they will drink their food from, no utensils of any kind will be given. If they decide they are going to throw the soup flour will be added and bake it like a giant bisquit. They would be fed warm soup for one meal and cold bologna sandwichs for the other meal. Maximum of 2,500 calories per day. If an inmate requires healthcare after convicted it will be their family that pays for it, not the taxpayers. If the family can't afford it too bad and if the inmate dies then the organs can be harvested. If an inmate is on death row, or serving a sentence of life without the possibility of parole, their organs can be harvested at any time for the benefit of the law abiding even if the inmate is still alive. Once convicted any money or valuables in their possession at the time of arrest will immediately be turned over to their victims. If it was a "victimless" crime then it will go towards the housing and feeding of the inmate. There will be no such thing as commissary or inmate fund accounts. Once convicted the only communication with the outside will be with their attorney and by mail only. The inmates will not be allowed to use any phones. There will be no such thing as visitation or conjugal visits. There will be no televisions, no excercise equipment and the only time they spend outside of the 8x10 cell will be the 15 minute cold shower they take weekly. Their toothbrushes will only be the head with the bristles with no handle. When inmates leave their cell they would wear a full face motorcycle helmet with the faceshield painted. This will prevent attempted assaults and escapes. Inmates will only wear underwear while in custody. The jail will be kept at 65 degrees year round. They will not be issued a matress, blanket or sheets. Their bunk will either be made of concrete or steel.2 points

I thought I'd post some pics of my dads end of the world chicken coop. My name, not his lol. Its built out of oak we cut from our land, then cut on the band mill. It sits on oak 6x6's with a rock foundation, and its built in a bat and board style, with external nest boxes to get eggs from the outside. It has storage up top for anything you'd really need to store, we usually keep chicken feed up there. Anyways I thought I'd share, since its on of the strongest and best built chicken coops I've seen, and I'm proud to say I helped my old man build it. What are your goals for the rifle? A collector would be concerned with arsenals, rarity, age, etc., for a shooter none of those matter. Like others have posted, condition of the wood, metal finish, rifling and crown are far more important than markings. I'll have to respectfully disagree with a couple of statements though, first don't concern yourself with "hex" vs. "round" receivers if you are looking for a good shooter. The cosmetic differences have no correlation to performance, any "corner-cutting" that might have occurred during wartime production has long ago been remedied as these rifles have been through numerous refurbishment processes, the bad ones were cannibalized for parts many years ago. Second, don't automatically reject a counterbored rifle, most were done to eliminate crown erosion due to nicks from improper cleaning techniques. The armorers who took the time to counterbore the rifles usually chose ones that had good bores but bad crowns, they are quite often better shooters than non-bored examples. Checking headspace and firing pin protrusion is always a good idea on any surplus rifle prior to firing it, a thorough cleaning is also a necessity. "Sticky bolt syndrome" is almost always the result of cosmoline in the chamber, investigate how to properly clean the bore and chamber and you should be good to go. If you are looking to start a collection, a different set of criteria apply. Check out the info available at 7.62x54r.net (especially the forums section), mosinnagant.net, and the Russian section at surplusrifles.com for a start. Terence Lapin's book "The Mosin Nagant Rifle" is another good source. Eventually you will find that serious collectors aren't very interested in common 91/30 refurbs, therefore most of the rifles commonly available in gunstores now aren't very collectible (there's always that apocryphal story of the 1907 carbine found on the shelf at the LGS for $100, so we do continue checking the racks in hope!).1 point

Decided to put together a long range gun and this is what I came up with. Savage Model 10 FCP with McMillan stock, Weaver mounts and tactical rings, Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 (First Focal Plane) scope. Got it zeroed on sunday at 100 yards and it is shooting sub-moa out of the box. SWEET!!!1 point

Put it together anyway you want, with any length barrel you want. Just don't put a stock on it -- if you only have an AR pistol config, I wouldn't even have a stock on my property. A stock, like any other in a collection of components, must have a legal use if it also has an illegal use. Many folks use a "pistol" receiver extension rather than a carbine one made to accept a stock, but it's not necessary. And especially if you plan to make it a legal SBR later, or want to swap back and forth between pistol and rifle config, is just something else to buy and not use later. And a pistol extension doesn't necessarily make you home free from the "constructive possession" thang anyway. I wound up giving my AR pistol its own dedicated lower not too long ago, at least for now. Still has regular carbine tube on it. I wrapped it with black camo wrap, but not to disguise or "cripple" it from taking a stock, but only to make it softer laid alongside the cheek when shooting. - OS1 point

Those are great. Both have plenty of adjustment and both are MIL/MIL FFP. They would definitely work with your 20 MOA rail. The reason you want the same adjustment and the same reticle is for corrections on the fly. With a MIL/MIL setup all you need to do is dial the difference. If the shot lands .7 mil low on the reticle you add .7 mil to the turrets. If the turrets are MOA and the reticle is MIL you have to do some funky conversion to make adjustments on the fly. Also, mil is the easiest to range with. Basically you take the known height/width of the target and multiply by 1,000. Then you divide that number by the number of mils the cover the target. Example: You have a 1.5 meter tall target. Multiply by 1,000 and that gives you 1,500. Now if 3 dots cover the target then the distance is 500 yards, or if 5 dots cover the target it is 300 yards. And whatever the input is that is what the output is, yards in yards out, meters in meters out and even feet. I am amble to do the math in my head most days.1 point

That's what happens when you work for liberals and take their money, you become like them. Bill O'Reilly is just as bad on Gun Control. It's all about the entertainment. The thing is, I don't find it all that entertaining to listen to someone seriously talk about taking away my rights, as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America.1 point

All it would take is for OPEC countries to demand payment in something other than the USD for things to cascade in a hurry. I agree the USD dollar is based on a type of ponzi/confidence game scam at this point, and all it takes for that to fail is for significant players to lose that confidence. - OS1 point

It is rather difficult to get enthusiastic when one has to decide between a piece of s*** and a pile of s***. Liberals rally around their candidates because they know that even through compromise, they will still gain ground. When Republicans compromise, we always lose ground. I will say it again as I did in my earlier posts, pointing out and/or complaining about the flaws of a candidate (past or present) in no way reflects on the future success of Republicans candidates. If Republicans field strong candidates then their chance for success is good, and if they field weak candidates or people vote for them in the primaries because they are perceived to be the most electable, they will more than likely lose.1 point

Thats kinda the situation i thought you to be in based on your original post. No one likes to shoot down to empty and then be completely out wondering when the next time they will have anything will be. I personally reload and have some supplies so i wouldn't have needed that much 9mm so no, i probably wouldn't have bought 800 rounds. That being said if i didn't reload and had no reserves i would have been tickled to find 800 rounds so that i could do a modest amount of shooting and not be bone dry after doing so. I personally have been about out of .22 which my wife has started to shoot and enjoy and for the 1st time since the madness i found a winchester 333rd pack a few days ago for her. I was glad to have it but thats it 333 rounds and we are back in the same boat again so yes if there had been more there i would have bought more. To me, until someone is out or almost completely out they shouldn't cast stones at someone that has been and then got the opportunity to not be. Just my opinion and it may be worth no more than i charged for it.1 point

I wouldn't feel bad Joe, I'm sure the ones that are being hard on you have PLENTY of ammo set back. I'm not sure when less than a case of 9mm and 999rds of .22lr became hoarding but i feel real certain that if any one of them was down to a few hundreds rounds on hand they would have done the same thing. Theres no difference between buying some bulk 9mm in person and buying it online so i can't see where your doing anything that they aren't. I'm glad to see when other forum members have a streak of good luck and would think others would be as well.1 point

It is a really bad idea. It only serves to embolden an idiot even more than carrying a firearm. It allows people to wrongfully intimidate or scare people. And finally I think anyone with a badge is impersonating LE. I met a guy who had one. He said he was either going to wear it on his belt or around his neck. He said he would be able to flash his badge to prevent a crime. He also said when, not if, he had to shot someonoe he could wave his badge to responding LE so they won't shoot or arrest him. I never talked to or seen him again to see how well his plans worked out but I susoect they didn't.1 point

I'm a TN Handgun Safety Course instructor and agree with the posting of ghawk249 above. Our students, even the first time shooters, haven't had much trouble with the new shooting requirements, but we have found that we have to emphasize the importance of sight , alignment. If you're prepping for the shooting portion of the class, spend most of your time understanding sight alignment and you shouldn't have any trouble. To restate the new requirements, the target is a B-29 silhouette, which is about 1/4 the size of the former B-27 target. The B-27 is a reduced version of the 50 yard B-27 which is meant to me used at 50 feet. A total of 50 shots are fired. Twenty shots at 3 yards (9 feet), twenty shots at 5 yards (15 feet), and ten shots at 7 yards (21 feet). Hits in (or touching) the 7 ring (the outside scoring ring on the target) count 2 points each. Hits outside the scoring rings but inside the silhouette count 1 point each. Anything outside the silhouette counts zero. A total of 70% (or 70 points) is required to pass the shooting phase of the course.1 point

See, this is where I differ. Usually when involved in a shootout and fail to stop the threat with center mass hits I do an inverted spin kick to distract the assailant, and that is when I deploy my ninja laser. It never fails to stop the attacker and I get in a gun fight like every other day.1 point

Had a long post typed out until the old iPad decided to do its own thing, but here's the gist. Good points, but they failed to mention the best option; Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration, don't fail us now! Most of the wonderful people you'd likely meet in an armed confrontation couldn't reliably hit a stationary paper target at seven yards let alone a rapidly moving target inside a vehicle. ANY increased distance decreases your chances of being hit and increases the time you have to react. And should you be in an offensive mood, put that 23.1 million grain bullet you're driving to work.1 point

1. If you are riding a "road" bike, the wheels, tires, and general setup of the bike is designed for going fast on the road, not on a sidewalk. 2. It is actually illegal to ride on the sidewalks in many municipalities.(See #3 and #5). 3. Sidewalks are designed for pedestrians that means people who are on foot. Why should I have to wait on them, startle them, or risk their leashed dog or child causing a collision. 4. The sidewalks are usually where all the glass, tacks, staples etc.. are located, which can result in expensive and time wasting flat tires. 5. Riding on the sidewalk can actually be more dangerous than riding on the road. Why? Because the sidewalks don't expect a 20 mph vehicle to be in in an area designed for pedesrians. Hence they don't see cyclists and pull into the path of cyclist in places where the sidewalk may cross driveway or parking lot. 6. Cyclists have a right to be on the road. Trust me, I pay plenty of taxes, and if there is an alternative street with less traffic, I'll usually take it. That said, I'm sorry if I've ever created a 5-15 second delay for you. I should know that you're probably on the way are on the way to defuse a bomb or deliver a baby somewhere. LOL. Seriously, Just throw your tobacco spit cup at me. That seems what most people do. Or they've really got brass balls, they yell obscenities and then drive off really fast. I've always assumed this is because they are admiring my physique, and would really like to keep watching me ride, but darn it they have a bomb to defuse and don't have the time to stop and talk...1 point
