  3.   If it helps even just a few of my friends on TGO find something they need at a reasonable price during these hard times I see nothing "nerdy" about it. . .perhaps Im not "nerdy" enough cause Im not really sure about the reference to someone posting "FIRST" on any forum...but I am truly saddened that my decision to create a thread advising of in stock 9mm ammunition has in some way offended you and I truly hope that we can still be friends. . .

  7. BS, in my opinion. They should have taken them to court in order to show fault and there should be a criminal trial for the cops that did this. Sorry, but under no circumstances ever, ever is what they did excusable. These cops have no business having a badge. But hey, at least they gots their money.

  8. If they can do it to them they can do it to us. (Limit buying) This is BS. DHS isn’t keeping us from getting ammo. Hoarders and those trying to make a profit off the panic buyers is why we don’t have a good supply of ammo.   If there was a shortage of resources (ammo) manufacturing would be steeping up to fill the demand. But they aren’t because they know it won’t last long enough to justify the cost.

  14.   Seeing a driver's license and having no reason to believe they are prohibited is enough. Ask them, "can you legally own firearms?".   Many people won't do a bill of sale or let you make a copy of their driver's license. Perfectly legal people, like many here.   Do what you like, but none of what you suggest is necessary to CYA.   - OS

  15. I'll agree it's annoying to say the least, but it's the nature of the times. If one of us makes it in under the wire, we're one more than we had. Just have to live with the way it is & keep both eyes , ears, & keyboard open. It is a pain in the butt. Fault lies in D.C.

  16. I don't see anything "bubba" about what the guy in the video did at all. It's not like he decreased their value or ruined them. He improved them and made them look really nice.   These aren't rare collector's pieces. They make nearly 40M of these things. What he did is no worse than hanging a vertical grip on an AR-15.

  17.   You're right, except it doesn't sound like there's a plan to enforce it. It's just a statement. May stop some liberal immigrants from landing in their town. That's not a bad thing.

  18. While I appreciate the point they are trying to make I don't agree with it.   Forcing someone to have a gun in the home is no different than forcing them to buy healtcare.

  22. It is a really bad idea. It only serves to embolden an idiot even more than carrying a firearm. It allows people to wrongfully intimidate or scare people. And finally I think anyone with a badge is impersonating LE.   I met a guy who had one. He said he was either going to wear it on his belt or around his neck. He said he would be able to flash his badge to prevent a crime. He also said when, not if, he had to shot someonoe he could wave his badge to responding LE so they won't shoot or arrest him. I never talked to or seen him again to see how well his plans worked out but I susoect they didn't.

The pictures don't have the back part of the harness but I'll get those up later, Tell me what you think about this design. (Sorry if you haven't gotten it yet but I couldn't resist.) 25. From The Blaze   http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/25/gop-lawmakers-hope-to-combat-ammunition-stockpiling-by-govt-agencies-with-ammo-act/     [T]he legislation would prevent all government agencies except for the Defense Department from purchasing and storing what lawmakers say is an excess amount of ammunition. The bill’s reach would include DHS and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), two agencies that have found themselves at the center of the ammo controversy. “As the public learned in a House committee hearing this week, the Department of Homeland Security has two years worth of ammo on hand and allots nearly 1,000 more rounds of ammunition for DHS officers than is used on average by our Army officers,” Inhofe said. “The AMMO Act of 2013 will enforce transparency and accountability of federal agencies’ ammunition supply while also protecting law-abiding citizens access to these resources.”

  30. Awesome.  Now be a winner and go resell that 22 for $50.  C'mon, think of all that hard work and time you put in, and the gas for driving, don't you want to make 20 bucks for it?? That's like 66% profit!!!  Screw the stock market I'm gonna be a professional ammo flipper.

  34. If a guy can build one out of a shovel in his garage and put a tactical leather belt sling on it I don't think I would worry too much. However I've only owned a Saiga so I'm far, far from an authority on AK rifles.

  35. Look for Century Arms. If they built it....leave it. Backwater cess pools and third world countries have all built AKs that work just fine. Century Arms seems to be about the only one who can screw up building an AK on a regular basis.

  36. I have friends in Adalaide. A couple of them came and stayed with me a few months ago while they were touring the US. We took them shooting for two days and to the Knob Creek Machine gun shoot. They Loved it! How much? They started the process to purchase firearms. Their laws are draconian to say the least. (you have to take a class and get a permit for an airsoft gun!)   What I have hear from them... • Their guns laws are too strict. • Crime with guns still happen. (just not as much) • Most of their friends take some sort of boxing or martial art. • Assaults are fairly common (depends alot on where you live) • Preferred choice of criminals now large knife (think kitchen) impact weapon.   My firend's girlfirend had never even handled a weapon before her visit with us. After a few magazines she was knocking down steel plates like a champ with my .22 ruger. (They shot everything we could hand them.) She too is now in the process of getting her permit to own and taking her classes. She wants to buy a used ruger like the one she shot.   She was amazed to see how my boys (16 & 13) handled the guns and how safe they were with them and how much fun she had shooting! (She was sporting that confident "I can do this" smile you se on first time shooters.   I know this isn't the "stats" your asking for... but I wanted to give you a look at the culture and thoughts of some over there. They are not all anti-gun but sadly they just don't have the numbers we have to over turn those laws... yet. I told him teh best way to do it is take another person shooting. We have to win people over to this sport/culture one at time. I think teh range is the best place.

  38.   They said the same thing about mausers but its getting harder and harder to find one in good condition, very hard for some models even though they made them by the boatload.  Already thousands of mosins have been cut up.  The rate of destruction is alarming.  This guy did a far better job than most, but he did actually ruin these guns for any collector.   And people DO collect them and seek them out in original condition.     Personally, I do not care.  You buy it, its yours to destroy -- and I am ok with that.    But there is a valid concern about the continued high rate of destruction of such guns, and on top of that, it is pointless.  It takes too much money to make one shoot straight -- you could buy a new gun for that amount.  And if it does not shoot straight, all the shiny in the world is pointless.  Almost all of them need a new barrel if you want to get 2 or less MOA, and if you are not getting that, no matter how pretty, why bother?!  If it is one of the rare ones that shoots well, it probably should have been left as a collector due to superior condition, so thats a catch-22.
