At the risk of offending someone reading this, I would suggest that the person who would buy such as "badge" as anything other than a joke is exactly the same type of person who probably shouldn't be carrying around a firearm in the first place. I know...I know...it's his"right" and I agree that it is...it's just that sometimes I think it's a shame that having a "right" doesn't guarantee the mental capacity to exercise it properly and safely.4 points

It is a really bad idea. It only serves to embolden an idiot even more than carrying a firearm. It allows people to wrongfully intimidate or scare people. And finally I think anyone with a badge is impersonating LE. I met a guy who had one. He said he was either going to wear it on his belt or around his neck. He said he would be able to flash his badge to prevent a crime. He also said when, not if, he had to shot someonoe he could wave his badge to responding LE so they won't shoot or arrest him. I never talked to or seen him again to see how well his plans worked out but I susoect they didn't.4 points

You're barking at the wrong guy. I did not vote for Obama in any election. I was forced to vote for McCain and Romney to try and get a Progressive Lite Politician in the Whitehouse. I did, however, vote for Ron Paul in the primary. But what I said still holds true. Even if you vote for another Progressive RINO Republican, is he going to protect your 2A rights more than Obama? McCain voted anti-2A in the Senate, Romney had an AWB in his own state. How much easier would it have been to sway the Republican Senators to vote Aye on the new AWB if they had a Republican president pushing for an AWB? IMHO, I think if we had McCain or Romney as president, we'd had some form of an AWB passed now since it would've had more republican support as they'd had an excuse by backing their progressive rino president.2 points

Had a similar pleasant experience late the other night in nashville. No worries from the officer when I handed both licenses over. And a warning.... hooray! And kudos to the officer for reciprocating respect.1 point

I went to the 60th anniversary of Pearl Harbor; it was amazing. Early on the morning of December 7th I listened as some of the survivors told their stories. It was a very emotional experience. I have been on the USS Missouri several times over the years and I love every minute of it. Mighty Mo stands guard over the Arizona. Make sure if you go you take that tour also. Standing where the surrender of Japan was signed and hearing the behind the scenes stories of what happened on that day is very interesting. Young people I talk to are surprised when they hear the facts of why the attack happened.1 point

I don't know if this is true with the M&P compact line, but it is with the full size. I bought the 40 caliber. I also bought the factory 9mm barrel for $60 and 9mm mags. About 15 mins ago I bought a factory 357 SIG barrel for $80 and it uses the factory 40/357 mags. All interchangeable with existing frame and slide. I doubt I'll ever stock the 357 round, or even use the barrel, but I'll have it just in case I need it. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 21 point

BigK, it is DA/SA. I am very pleased with the quality of the Sig. And the Internet is full of great reviews. I would buy it again, no doubt. I love the Glocks and have no doubt the Sig Pro will hold up just as well.1 point

I called glock when I got home today and here is what I found out: 1) manufacture date: a) the date on the fired brass packet is the date it was made b) serial number you must call glock and they will look it up for you. There is no way you can tell when it was made by serial number 2) slide finish: the original glocks had a more gray matte finish that by the late gen2/gen3 was changed to the shiny black that I think most of us a familiar with. There was then a change to the gray matte finish which he said he could not really explain a reason for. He gave me the impression that it was what someone up the chain of command wanted but he personally had never been given a reason for the change. Lastly the slide finish has been changed to a black matte finish. When I asked the reason for the change he said it would not reflect light as well. I asked if it had anything to do with cycling issues or the fact that people in general didn't seem to like the color and he said he couldn't address those issues. Sounded like a guy trying to keep his job. He advised that the tenifer finish, the treatment that accutualy protects the metal, has not changed. 3) glock rep: jhc77 sorry that you did not get the help you were looking on your call. Perhaps the person you spoke with was busy or just having a bad day. I would say the the guy I spoke with was very helpful and did not seemed put out by my call. He offered really more info on the early glocks than I could digest but I could also tell there were some things he could not discuss. I told him we were not looking for trade secrets but were just a bunch of gun guys trying to learn more about our guns. He seemed cool with that and I invited him to check out the tgo forum. Who knows if he likes ,glock discounts in the future? 4) personal reflection: while I will say the matte gray is not my favorite color,my g26 is gray, I will also say if I was looking for a pretty gun I would still have my s&w e version. While a glock may not be the prettest gun out there I don't think anyone will argue to its reliabilty, combat accuracy or ease of maintaince. I would never say thats&w,Springfield, beretta, ect don't make great guns but if I ever have to defended myself or others I want a glock. This is just my personal opinion and if anyone disagrees that's ok. After all that's what makes the forum so interesting.1 point

Thought I'd post back as it seemed Reloaders Bench got thrown under the bus on this thread. Maybe warranted, maybe not, to each his own on that. However, I went to Reloaders Bench today to see if they had a replacement primer decapper pin for my Dillon, since I had no luck actually contacting anyone at Dillon. Larry, the older guy, dug around on his Dillon shelf and found a package of pins. He matched it up, screw it back together and handed it back to me. I asked him what I owed...he said "Have a good day." I don't think I'd get that across the street at Academy Sports, even if they carried Dillon. Nuff said.1 point

Don't count out the war on guns. I have a hard time believing it's helping the Dems. Obamacare is gonna hurt them too. And, the economy is gonna continue to lay there like a dead fish. In another 3 years, there's gonna be an even bigger contrast between the promises and the reality. Not saying it will make a big enough difference, especially as self destructive as the Repubs are. Just saying it will be a different ballgame that's not all bad.1 point

Would this be a good time to discuss how wearing one of these "badges" would automatically make you a target that any bad guy would want to take out or whether it would make them turn tail and run??? :popcorn:1 point

Nothing and I understand that some of the smarter (relative term here) home invaders do just that. That's part of what prompted my question....if your door bursts open at 5 in the morning or 10 in the evening; waiting to take action until you figure out if it's really the police or just thugs will likely mean that you don't get to take any action at all. I keep at lease one sidearm within reach of my hand at all times and in each room at home exactly so that I can respond a quickly as possible.1 point

What is there to "face"? What are you trying to convince people of that you think they don't know? The executive order referenced was signed over a month ago and BEFORE the vote in the Senate so it's already in force...has anything changed yet? If they do change what are are we supposed to do? I've had no doubt and I have no doubt that Obama will try just about anything to get his way just like any other child throwing a tantrum...is that news to anyone? What exactly do you want me to do about it?....what are YOU going to do about it? People got what they voted or (or in some cases, didn't vote)...I hope all those "firearm enthusiasts" who thought Romney wasn't "X" enough for them are happy. ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES1 point

As far as I'm concerned the parents can see their son when we ship his carcass back to Russia. Screw his family. I love my kids, and will love them no matter what they do, but I would absolutely condemn their actions if they committed violent crimes such as murder. The father should be denied entry based on his previous comments.1 point

Well, at least I'm not alone on this. This shirt was designed by "group" of 2A supporters out of the Nashville area. I "liked" their Facebook page not long ago. When they posted the shirt for sale, I offered some constructive criticism regarding the design, which I instantly began to catch flak over. I guess, in part, because I referred the the image of the guy holding the guns as a "Mexican gangster". Come to find out, that image is actually a photograph of one of the guys who started this group. He's not a Mexican. As soon as I saw the shirt posted, "gangster" or "thug" was the first thing that came to mind, even before the text. I thought it was a poorly throughout design from a group that supports the 2nd Amendment. The same group that's been all over at least one or two media outlets, trying to convince local malls to allow legal gun owners to carry our firearms in their establishments. No way in he'll that shirt design is going to help the cause. Personally, I think less is more. As far as I am concerned, a shirt with only the text would have been a far better choice. Had I designed the shirt, I would have even removed the American flag. The text says it all. Keep it simple, stupid.1 point

We certainly didn't cause it, but we certainly could take better care of our messes. It's a real bummer to hear every time they discover those giant flotillas of garbage out on the ocean. I think there were 2-3 BEFORE the tsunami. I'm no tree hugger by any means but I can't stand to look at piles of trash laying around.1 point

Well, I'd say there's a pretty big difference in how I would react to a sworn officer as opposed to a dirtbag showing up on my doorstep wanting entry. I'd tell an officer "no", but if he demands entry under the threat of being cuffed and stuffed I'd comply and deal with it later with a lawsuit. I'm not shooting it out with the Popo unless free elections have been suspended and we are no longer governed by elected leaders. However, if some dirtbag claiming to be a bounty hunter wants access to my house I'm gonna say "no". If he forces entry he's in for some lead poisoning. Perhaps if your name was on the bond paperwork it means they can search your place, but how on earth are you to verify that some dirt bag looking dude has that authority? I'm willing to bet that a person who isn't harboring a fugitive but IS on the bond paperwork could articulate how they were in fear of their life or the lives of their kids as a team of armed strangers are forcing entry. Hell, there have been plenty of cases where folks have been found justified for shooting law enforcement officers who did not properly identify themselves or were in the wrong place without a warrant to be there.1 point

if they needed a gun why didn't they just go to a gunshow? Of course this act does prove that open carrying makes you a target.1 point

In a few states a felon can become a bounty hunter. TN is not supposed to be one of them. I believe my way of apprehension is far superior to the tactics of the rag-tag bounty hunters we hear about. I treat people nicely and use my manners. That usually works wonders. Of course if that doesn't work, I guess I could kick the door in and get shot at...1 point

What we fight today is not war, IMHO, and that includes Afghanistan. War is uncivilized by nature yet we try to civilize it. We haven't fought a war since WWII. Even Israel is trying to civilize war lately with their refusing to destroy a rocket-launching site because it was sitting atop an apartment building. You see, true innocents don't live next to a rocket-launcher. They either cause the rocket-launcher to be moved or they move away from it. If you house a combatant then you are no longer a non-combatant, and neither are your loved ones.1 point

I have experience in this.... They may enter the fugitive's house, the co-signers house, or any house that they are certain the fugitive is in without a warrant. If they are to do so, in Tennessee, they must notify local LEOprior to arrival at the house. That being said, I would never force my way inside of a house fitting the 3rd criteria, that is WAY to dangerous. If I was for sure they were there I would simply call the local LEO and have them open the door for me. People seem to open doors better for them. It is never a good idea just to waltz into someone's house. (Especially Jesse's house, home of the M16!)1 point

If I don't see a warrant, we trade fire. End of story. You're not coming in without warrant or invitation. If I die in the process so be it.1 point

I say all executions should be live on television. Most occur in the middle of the night so all those who should not be watching should not be up. And the death should be in a similar manner as the reason they are being put to death. If they stab someone 20 times then they should be stabbed 20 times. If they kill someone because they were driving drunk then they should replace those safety dummies during all vehicles tests.1 point

Powder is a propellent not an actual explosive anyway, granted if the pressure of a burning propellent is captured & allowed to build up enough, it will "explode" but they are not one & the same. Heck pressurized air can "explode" if enough pressure is allowed to build up, should we also require background checks for scuba tanks & air compressors? Let's face it, the nanny state socialists aren't going to stop until the entire nation is wrapped in bubblewrap, biodegradeable, recycled, ecofriendly bubblewrap.1 point
