I know this has been argued over before, but today seat belts saved me and my wife from serious injury. We were stopped in construction and a lady rear ended us without stopping. She was traveling about 70mph and plowed into us. I saw her coming and was able to release the brake and turn the wheel in an attempt to move out of the way but I wasn't able to react in time. My wife broke her nose and got a few stitches but otherwise we are fine. Thank God for that. The lady that hit us died on the way to the hospital. Please pray for her family. If anyone ever wonders the Land Rover LR4 is one tough bitch. EDIT more pics Broken Seat Offending vehicle7 points

I slapped one on some libtard-b*****'s car in my apartment complex. She has so many other stickers on there she doesn't seem to have noticed. It's been there for about 2 weeks now. She tried arguing with me one day when unloading the car after a trip to the range. Hahaha4 points

Glad you guys are OK, feel bad for the lady's family. And this is a prime example as to why we only drive bigger, heavier vehicles. Sure, they're tougher on the environment, but no amount of technology can side-step physics - you're either the golf ball or the club...3 points

23 lbs 10 oz, 9.5 inch beard, left spur is 1 inch and right spur is 7/8 total NWTF score of 61.38. Killed him around 1:00 today. Started out using my trough call and closed it out with my mouth call. He came in to 35 or so yards (didn't have a clear shot) but turned around and started walking away from me. I thought I had been busted since I had no time to set up my decoys. I waited for about 5 minutes so he would relax. I then started doing really really soft putts, purrs and a few whines. It was all I needed, he came strutting back in to 20 yards and thats all I needed.2 points

I read that the deaths at the end of the season were supposedly life changing for the group.... I don't agree except for Merle. Merle's death was truly gut-wrenching but I was ready for Andrea to go. It was a good episode but if Carl was my kid... The belt would be coming off.2 points

Take a hard look at Gallatin. The wife & I just bought 15 acres out there to build on (about 3 weeks ago is when we closed). Prime Country real estate, on a hill, overlooking a holler & 4 acre pond. We searched for close to 18 months before pulling the trigger on this property. We paid $159k ... Decent land in Sumner County will cost approx $10 - $15k an acre. The farther out you get, the cheaper. Hendersonville closer to $30k. So ... My suggestion would be Gallatin. Here's some pictures of ours :)2 points

Stopped in to see if ammo had came in but it had not. But they had 3 boxes of 7.62x51 at $19.99 per box so I got one. Went back to the gun counter and they received a truck but hadn't opened anything. So I hung out for about 30 minutes while he went through them to see if they had any Ruger 10-22's. I've been wanting one for my daughter and always miss the shipments. Sure enough!!! $199 with wood stock, which is what she wanted. Can't wait to surprise her tonight!!1 point

Well, back in June I met Spots for the first time. As a token of friendship he gave me a hand forged knife. I threw it in my gear bag and pretty much left it hang around doing it's thing. Well, Spots started a "Knife" pass around to test his creations by anyone brave enough to take on the task. I did not get in on the pass around. Today, I decided to "test" his knife without his knowledge or consent. So, here I go with a series of test...un-beknownst to Spots.. Spots...I do appologize in advance for this post.... Me and Buster Dawg getting ready for the test... Here is a picture of the knife. At first sight, it seems kinda odd. But in the hand, it has a weight forward feel about like a hatchet or meat cleaver. Not what I would expect of a knife. So in testing the weight of this thing, I slammed it into a stump. Well, it didn't break! That's good! So...I took this piece of seasoned red oak... And hit it one good hard time ...BINGO!! So...OK...that's cool...So I picked up a piece of unknown wood that was harder than a rock, and went to chopping away... The knife eating it's way through the wood...It was cut in two in about 2 minutes. So after I cut through it, I decided to use the knife as a splitting wedge, by beating the hell out of it with a hammer to split this log with it.. The log split.. And then I decided to just chop dirt and rocks because I was getting totaly bored with this test... I was getting angry because this knife was not failing me. So, I started beating the hell out of it with a hammer. Folks...I could do no damage to this thing other than busting the handle! Sorry Spots, but I tried to destroy this thing!! While I was testing Spot"s knife, the Old Lady called for me to come and get supper ready. For the hell of it, I threw the knife at a tree....Damn I'm Good!!! What she wanted was for me to cut up a chicken for supper. OK...cool...I can do that....so I got Spot's knife, washed it and cut right through the chicken with it...dang! Then after all the hell I put it through, I decided to see if it was still able to perform...without a flaw it did! I feel that I did all I could do to destroy this contraption of Spots, but I failed. So in discust...I exposed his knife to an IED (Improvised Explosive Device)....So, I placed an unknown amount of black powder on the ground, layed the knife upon it, and set it with a piece of fuse. Well folks, what happened next is a mere blur, as when I lit that fuse, my little She'wa'wa dog Buster ran up to the fuse and barked at it. Me and the camera man yelled at him, but to no avail! KABOOM!!!! Buster dog hit the shop door, through the doogie door at mach two and dove under the bed. Folks, I could not get that poor little doggie to come out for nothing...he was traumatized!! The explosion.... The burnt Knife Blade and crater... I could not do no damage to this knife, other than bust the handle with a direct blow by a hammer. Me and Buster Dawg after our IED test...we're done! Folks it sure was fun! His knife falls right into what I would expect of a good camp knife. The ability to whittle, chop, split and cut. It would hold up through hell I think...I'm done testing knives for awhile..... Spot's...your knife is a Satan's Tool!!! I'd buy one in a heart beat!!!! Dave S1 point

I-40 West like that is probably one of the EASIEST commutes you can find for those working in downtown Nashville. The problem is there really isn't much out that way in terms of common amenities or must-visit venues. Most of the folks out there either travel down SR-840 to Franklin / Cool Springs or just stick to the things that are local to them for entertainment.1 point

Call 911 immediately, do not wait because witnesses leave the area. Then when the officers are there tell them you were the victim. Then tell them the subjects actions put you in fear. Do not refer to the person that is shot as the victim, you are the victim. The person shot is the subject, not you. Beyond that I would not offer any more information. I have also seen those people get busted for selling drugs or working for cash only. Their is a huge underground network out there. I have also seen those people that claim to need help work the system so they buy what they want with the money coming in and then asking for help with food or the electric bill. I used to attend a church that was listed early in the phone book and almost weekly we got calls from people that needed "help". We never gave out money so if they needed food we would meet them at the grocery store or offer to go pay on their electric bill. 75% of the time when they relized we were not going to give them money they would just leave or not show up for the groceries. If it is easy take advantage of the system people will do it, if it is hard, less people will do it. The feds cannot govern this it must be done locally out side of the governments controls so those really needing help get it and those wanting to take advantage of the system get found out.1 point

IMO, both sets have HUGE advantages over the other. Hornady pros: -bullet seating tube to guide bullets into die -locking rings are excellent -decapper has a longer carbide insert that sizes more smoothly -more accurate fine-tuning of the seating/crimp/etc. Hornady cons: -locking rings don't fit a 4-hole Lee turret (they're too wide to get adjusted correctly) -need extra station to flare the case mouth and doesn't accept powder measure Lee pros: -powder thru die is a MUST have for turrets/progressives -they work just fine Lee cons: -they just work "fine", nothing great about them -very hard to fine-tune the seating/crimping I'm using the best of both worlds: I use a Hornady decapping die, Lee powder-thru/flare die, Hornady bullet seating die, and Lee Factory Crimp die in my Lee 4-hole turret press. I use a Hornady decapping die, Dillon powder-thru/flare die, Dillon powder-check die, Hornady bullet seating die, and Lee Factory Crimp die in my Dillon 650. ...hope that helps1 point

The problem there is that Carl is right. In fact, I don't think Carl went far enough in his response to Rick. Back at the farm, Rick had a talk with Carl and, basically, told him that his childhood was over. He said that he was sorry it had to be that way but that Carl was going to have to put the little kid stuff behind him. Well, he did and he did a very good job of it. Last night, I was hoping he was going to say that to Rick and point out that Rick was going to have take his own advice and put the old life behind him because the Officer Friendly crap of being wishy-washy and giving known enemies the benefit of the doubt keeps getting good people - their people - killed. I was also hoping he would point out that Rick was all set to turn Michonne - one of their own people - over to the Governor to be tortured and killed but that he was now all upset over Carl doing what needed done to a known, armed enemy who had come to kill them - which is a pretty hypocritical attitude, really. I was actually cheering for Carl when he pointed out that Rick's letting that one inmate go instead of killing him when he had the chance (and should have) resulted in Lori (and T-Dog, although Carl didn't mention him) dying - not to mention Carl having to shoot his own mother in the head - and then pointed out that Merle would still be alive if Rick had quietly killed the Governor when he had him alone in a room (which would also have meant that Milton and Andrea would have lived.) I love how he ended his response to Rick with something along the lines of, "...now go kill him before he kills any more of us." If anything, Carl needs to take the belt to Rick because Carl is acting more like an adult making hard choices and living with them while Rick is acting more like a little kid who is whining because he can't deal with the way things are. I also agree that Carl was right to shoot the Woodbury guy. Like others, I don't think he was going to drop the shotgun. He was hesitating too much, moving too close to Carl and obviously (to me, anyhow) sizing up how he could probably take out one kid and an old man before they could get him. Besides, once someone comes to your 'house' with a shotgun looking to kill you, your entire [surviving] family and every friend you have left in the world what do you do with them even if you let them surrender? There are no authorities to turn them over to, no way to have a trial or to safely keep him around. What the heck were they supposed to do? Just let him go to come back later? Take him back to the prison, lock him in a cell and waste valuable resources keeping him in food and water? Let him walk around loose in the prison where you have kids and even a baby, meaning you would either have to keep an eye on him 24/7 or take a chance on him hurting or killing them if you ever let your guard down? Or maybe he would just scope out the whole place then eventually sneak away, leaving a 'back door' open for the Governor to sneak back in later (when Carl shot the guy, they didn't know that the Gov had murdered all his people.) By making what I think was the right call, Carl avoided another Randall-like situation. He avoided the group being in conflict for days because they "couldn't" keep him locked up, "couldn't" kill him and "couldn't" let him go. What do we do with the guy who tried to kill us and who we can't trust? Bang. Problem solved. Honestly, overall I think the scene with Carl was the high point of a pretty poor episode. I mean, sure some 'significant' things happened but overall this had the feel of another 'filler' episode, not a season friggin' finale. Unlike some, I wasn't 'ready' for Andrea to die. If that was in the cards, however, they could have made it a little more of a 'big deal'. As it was, her death was kind of lame. I mean, she fought off that walker in the RV with a screwdriver way back when, before she was nearly as hardened and skilled at killing them. Just a week or two ago she ran through a countryside full of the things armed only with a small pocket knife and killed a few walkers on the way. By the time Milton reanimated, Andrea had a hand free - I expected she would be able to stab one handle from the pliers through an eye and drop the Milton walker fairly easily but, instead, it bit her. Like I said, kind of lame. Once she was bitten, I was hoping they would at least set things up so she could take out the governor and maybe even be instrumental in bringing the Woodbury survivors and Rick's group together as her final, living act (well, before shooting herself, that is.) Instead, the three amigos (gov and his two henchmen) ride off into the sunset and Andrea goes out in a fairly inglorious manner. Pretty anticlimactic, really - especially for a season finale. Now they are setting things up to drag the prison story arch out even more and possibly have the governor around, later. Personally, I was looking forward to the season finale when those, two things could finally be put to rest - and they didn't resolve either of them. I realize that life doesn't fit neatly into 'seasons' but this is a television show. It should, at least to some extent (especially when the way things are going gets boring.)1 point

I think part of the confusion in this case is the Form 1. Maybe this will help. The Form 1 is an application to make and register a firearm. Since the gun you are buying is already a completed firearm, ignore the first part and just go with "register." The NFA is a registry of SBRs, SBSs, suppressors, machine guns and destructive devices. You are filling out a Form 1 to add a new SBR to the registry. If an item is already in the registry, it will transfer on a Form 3 (tax exempt between dealers), Form 4 (tax paid transfer, generally to final owner) or a Form 5 (tax exempt transfer, generally an inheritance). Hope that helps a little bit.1 point

Over penetration from a handgun in most any common caliber isn't too much of a concern. You have a greater chance of hitting the lottery twice than having to actually use your weapon and run the risk of over penetration. Think how much velocity is lost after 16" of flesh, bone, organs and clothing. If you miss than you miss, regardless of caliber.1 point

I believe too! The Bible is infallible and is the inerrant word of God. Abraham's God that is! It was written by men, but inspired by God. The King James version may not be written in the original languages of the Bible, but I studied in government funded college literature, the history and development of the King James translation, that in itself was astonishing, and removes any doubt in my mind that maybe we have errors in the translation. Don't take my word for it, if you will just carefully study the science of the bible, and its history, understand how it is a collection of individual books, from vast time periods. Then stand back, and understand how the birth and death of Jesus was for told centuries before his actual birth, is astonishing. Its not written to vaguely to make it fit. You either accept that He was God in the flesh, or he was a liar, a conman, which makes him the biggest scam in mankind. As for as the age of the Earth, I don't why God created the earth that appears to a human mind to be billions of years of old, but I do know its in our nature to have concrete evidence. Do you suppose if we did uncover concrete evidence, and we penned it down what we found, 1,000 years from now, would society doubt us too? Finally, as for me, I had a life changing experience 100% tied to the Bible. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I would never go back to the life that I had before. I still make mistakes, but what happened 2,000 years or so ago today (Easter), makes my mistakes invisible to God. Its as simple as John 3:16. :up:1 point

Very good article. I don't worry too much about the how of Gods work I try to focus more on the why of Gods work. I figure God can run His creation anyway He wants to so as I read the Bible I focus on why is He doing what He's doing, what is He trying to teach me, and am I responding the way He wants me to.1 point

There is no conspiracy here nor is it some super secret Obama black ops mission to shoot every citizen 5 times. It's a contract of supply 5 YEARS WORTH of ammo to the US government. When DHS was created just about everyone out side of the ATF, CIA, DEA, FBI, and Secret Service was roll into DHS. There are at least 50-70k gun carrying Federal Agents from Postal Inspectors, Park Rangers, Border Patrol, NOAA Agents to Indian Tribal Affairs, 1.6 billion / 5 years = 320 Millions rounds PER YEAR. 320 Million Rounds / 60k gun toting agents = 5300ish rounds. 5300 rounds / 4 trips to the range per year = 1300ish rounds. This does not take into consideration that a lot of ammo is used for training academies plus the amount that each office would "stock pile". This is as retarded as the Obama is a secret Muslim Bull Shit. There are plenty of other bull shit things that Obama is doing but being a Muslim and hoarding ammo to kill US Citizens are not one of them.1 point

I understand what you are saying, but at some point one has to be able to decide on what is accurate and what is not. It seems that all too often, the answer is "whatever fits my opinion." Do I believe them to tell the truth? Generally yes, and by "truth" I mean simple facts. Interpretation of those facts is quite a different issue completely. The question is, why would they lie about how many rounds were fired? And who picks the number? If they were simply going to make up random information to ban guns, then why do it that way? Why not say the kid converted a civilian AR style rifle to full-auto, fired hundreds and hundreds of rounds into the victims, and had even converted the Saiga into a full-auto shotgun? Why not dozens and dozens of rifles in his home "arsenal" along with tens of thousands of rounds stockpiled? Might as well throw some bomb-making materials in with it as well. Why say he left rounds in each magazine? Why not that he fired all 30 rounds, but didn't get to use all of his magazines because the heroic police showed up and saved the day? Do you think that a media that can't tell the difference between a semi-auto and machine gun, a bayonet lug and a flash suppressor, or a magazine from a clip would be smart enough to construct a false scenario that involved tactical mag changes and short-loading mags for better reliability (a practice I call BS on anyhow)? The problem is that the BS detectors out there are set way too high, so all they get are a bunch of false positives. If all one ever does is specifically seeks out BS, then they are guaranteed to find it somewhere. That's the reason for my point about a single early news report that says no rifle was used. Any other time, folks would be chalking that up as just another case of the media jumping the gun to get their story out there first. However, here, that single news story is being held up as absolute truth and evidence of a fleecing by the government because all other stories since, and official law enforcement reports say the opposite. It's not that the early news story was inaccurate, it's that everyone else is lying. Let's change your BS detector to a metal detector and say you are looking for buried treasure on a beach that some guy on TV said was buried there. You are so certain that there is treasure on that beach, you set the sensitivity of your metal detector as high as it will go so you don't miss a single gold coin buried in the sand. So off to the beach you go with your metal detector set on high and when you get there, you start looking right where you "know" the treasure had to be buried because that's where you would have buried it. Of course you get a hit, dig a hole, and find an old can. In your mind, you say that is proof treasure exists because people who bury treasure use cans too. Then you run to the next spot you think is a good hiding place and do the same thing. Then it's off to the next spot, and the next, and no matter where you look you get a hit from your metal detector, but all you find are old bits of metal and the occasional old penny (surely the people who buried the treasure there *must* have put some coins out there to throw you off their trail). After days of this, you've run all over the beach, collected a nice pile of useless junk, and no treasure. What you fail to realize is that there is no treasure and the story was created by some hack who uses the story to dupe people into buying metal detectors, and you see your useless junk as a pile of evidence that treasure exists. All the while, you miss the gold Rolex that someone dropped near the waterline while they were out sunbathing. That's the same thing you get when the BS detector is set way too high. You waste time and energy chasing down ghosts while you miss the important stuff.1 point

A trip to the range and a loaded 1911, will answer the question, why we are drawn to the 1911.1 point
-
No, the report about the handguns was a media report. The official police report said he used a Bushmaster AR style rifle, a Glock 10mm handgun, and a Saiga was found in the trunk of his car. http://www.ct.gov/despp/cwp/view.asp?Q=517284 Also, it's quite interesting to see how many folks are working very hard to make the official reports inaccurate. If you find yourself trying to create scenarios to prove someone wrong, then you should probably take a step back. The math I get says he fired a maximum of 161 rounds (as was mentioned by OS earlier). The kid was crazy. He loaded up a bunch of magazines, went to the school, and hot up the place. There's nothing else to this story except for the details related to those facts. No conspiracy. It's also quite interesting to see how people will constantly say the media is corrupt, irresponsible, and inaccurate, but here, early media reports made in the heat of the moment as the story unfolded are 100% correct and corrected reports are fabricated. Again, when you have to do this much work to make the story fit what you want it to be, it's probably time to step back.1 point

i don't for one second believe there's a difference between D and R ... but just saying "oh well, Bush did it, so quit bitching that Obama is doing it" isn't going to fix the problem. at some point, someones got to call whoever is in office out on it being wrong and expect them to deal with it.
