  1. If you're working on a deal and then fail to log onto the site for three or four days, then you shouldn't be to upset when someone thinks you've abandoned the deal and moves on.  Deals move quickly, and unless you set an expectation otherwise offering a reason for which you will be slow to respond, then it's unrealistic for someone to hold onto something because you might get back to them.    This is certainly NOT the right way to handle something like this, and will not be tolerated going forward.

  2. This isn't surprising at all. McCain is worthless and should be the poster-child for term limits. He needs to go ahead and take the "R" from in front of his name. I respect his war service greatly but at this point in his life he's no better than Harry Reid, Lindsay Graham or any of the other power-hungry dinosaurs in Washington who need to be put out to pasture.

  8. I'll take lead over a fmj for ANYTHING. Even if I were looking for deep penetration, I can get a lead bullet in there as far as any fmj. I can water drop straight wheel weights and get it hard enough it will not expand at all. I'll also take a cast lead bullet over almost any other copper condom out there. There's very little a jacket can do that a PROPERLY PREPARED cast load cannot do. .....cheaper. Over the weekend I shot some 308's I loaded for a friend's hunting rifle. Without boring details, it penetrated 4 gallon jugs of water and mushroomed from .311 to just over .650. The first two jugs were shredded to pieces. This is a light load and recoil is about like a .223. Accuracy was inside 2 inches at fifty yards and that's a ten shot group, btw. ...Ohh yeah, it cost me about $7 for the fifty rounds we fired.

  9. Is this thread supposed to be satire or are we being serious right now? My God. I'm pretty sure if we had a video of US soldiers taking a dump and played it to menacing theme music some tin foil hatters would think is was a damn conspiracy rather than consider the possibility that soldiers have to take dumps too.

  28. I saw an interesting thread on another website that was interesting. Guys who are buying this stuff in MASSES and selling it all over the net have made a serious business for themselves... It would indeed be hilarious to see some of these big sellers go to jail for not paying tax on "income"... The largest seller on GB for bulk pack ammo sells about 50 bulk packs a week... WHERE in the heck does he get this stuff? My best friend and I bought a bunch from him. Nice guy from the northwest, but man o man... who only knows. I asked if he was a dealer and he said " I do it out of my garage for side money"... Now, it's not fair for me to say what he buys it for and what he sells it for. That's his business really. It was just an interesting point a guy brought up about guys who have just made a killing during this crisis paying up....

  29. Here's what I want to know... all of these folks on Craigslist, GunBroker, etc are selling 10-20-30 boxes of the impossible to find bulk pack .22lr's. You can't tell me they just get lucky by getting to Walmart in time. There is some serious behind the scenes brother dealing going on. It's sad, but it's reality. How are the same people on these sites able to get, keep, and sell more 550 Bulk pack that a WHOLE entire region of Walmart gets in a damn month!! Riddle me that one!!

  35. I believe you answered your own question.  That being said, it is generally not advisable to shoot lead pills out of a polygonaly rifled barrel such as a Glock due to concerns of excessive lead build-up and subsequent elevations in pressure.

  41. It sounds like he has the seater die screwed in so far that it is applying a serious crimp to the case mouth. Then he tried to seat the bullets deeper after he already had a crimp.   You need to do a full length size. Even new brass needs to be sized. Pull the handle down to the bottom of its stroke. Screw the sizing die in until it contacts the shell holder then add about a 1/2 turn. You want to make sure the sizing die ALWAYS touches the shell holder.   Next you need to use the powder drop die to bell the case mouth. You want just enough bell that the bullet clears the case mouth. Most times you can't see or even feel the bell but when you set a bulet in the case mouth it is obvious. To set it you put the handle at the bottom of the stroke then you screw it in until the handle moves. Remove the shell and check the bullet fit. It is doesn't then add a 1/4 turn, lock it down and pull the handle to the hard stop with the case in the shell holder. Check it again and add a 1/4 turn at a time until the bullet just barely clears the case mouth. Too much bell work hardens the case mouth and will cause cracks pretty quickly.   To set your seater die up do this. Loosen the die and loosen the seater pin. Put a piece of factory ammo in the shell holder. Put the handle of the press at the bottom of the stroke, I mean bottomed out on the hard stop. Then screw the die in until you see the handle barely move. Lock the die in place. Then tighten the seater die until it hard stops on the bullet. This will get you near perfect bullets. You might have to add a 1/8 turn to get more of a crimp but not much more than that.

  42. There is 5.56mm ammo and then there is 5.56mm ammo.  Your cartridge selection will make a huge difference in penetration of walls and doors.  Generally speaking, the lighter the bullet, the more chance it will blow up in the first thing it hits.  The Hornady 55gr TAP cartridge also has flash suppressant in the powder which helps a LOT when shooting in low-light conditions.  It was designed to reduce over-penetration. Military 62gr on the other hand was designed specifically to penetrate barriers.   I keep a 5.56mm AR carbine for home defense.  It's what my muscle memory knows best, and suddenly awake in the middle of the night, that's important.  I've fired M-16s indoors before  (on full-auto, too).  Afterwards your ears will ring.  But you really don't notice it while shooting.   We each have to make choices based on our individual situations, skills, and experiences.  There is no perfect answer that works for everyone (except Joe Biden's double-barrel 12ga  ).

  45. I have both, and have found that the Mini is by far the best at shooting anything it is fed!  Since you are not looking at having to shoot a lot, very far, and will only be shooting a few rounds, and not hunting, the Mini is cheaper, very reliable, and the mags are not that expensive.  Ruger has really good videos to help with field stripping for cleaning and it doesn't require a lot of TLC.  The AR is superior for long range, high capacity, high round counts, and that everywhere you look there might be one should SHTF!  I wouldn't use that SHTF as the main criteria for the purchase.  All AR's have lots of parts to clean, and they are really easy to loose if you are not cleaning them on a workbench or table.  The Mini will not fail you for the price!

  46.   Young?  Man, I'm 41.  I kinda don't believe I should have to join the military and go to a foreign country in order to exercise my right to keep and bear arms.  I am also old enough to remember when pretty much every "good ol' boy" drove a pickup truck that had a gun rack in the rear window.  That rack generally held at least a shotgun and, often, a rifle.  Those long guns were present year 'round, not just during hunting season and, no, hunting season isn't different because the Second Amendment is not about hunting.  It was not a big deal and no one freaked out nor were they portrayed as 'armed mobs' by most folks because, back then, people weren't drinking the pussification Kool-Aid.  Some of us might like to still be able to do that without being harassed and without anyone freaking out.  It isn't our fault that the general populace has their heads up their collective asses.  I also don't think that most of us are talking about walking down the sidewalk, either alone or in groups, while carrying an AR, etc.

  48. I actually had a dream the other night that I went into my local post office and for whatever reason they had .223 for $50 per 1000. I bought as much as i could and tried to call my friend but my phone wouldn't work. Then my wife woke me for work.   I literally went and checked my ammo stash, saw it wasn't true and sulked the rest of the day.
