  2. Decided to get away from it all with some friends today. Took a nice lil stroll up the holler and across the ridges. Found a nice lil clearing on an old logging road, after fighting through 3 year old new growth under brusb and briars. Built a lil fire, did some carving, cooked some bacon and and coffe and just had a good old time. Its been a truly good day. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere

  3.   Yep, next week I'll be making at least half a dozen offers a day.  I expect to get a lot of hate mail back, but I'm sure some will bite.  It will feel good.  Cash is hard to turn down when you need smokes, PBR and baby food.

  4. I doubt there is much that this guy does by "accident." I'm sure everything that goes on in that office is so well thought out and planned. The guy can't even eat food without it being pre-tested. This was no mistake. They're only saying that because of negative backlash.

  5. If you haven't uninstalled and reinstalled Tapatalk since David was kind enough to let us use it again, you may need to do so. I'm still seeing HTML code in posts made by some of those using Tapatalk. I was having the same issue, and a quick uninstall and reinstall solved the problem.

  12. A free market capitalist society works by selling high and buying low. Just because the commodity of the day happens to be something we love dearly doesn't give any of us just cause to defame those who .....(wait for it, the word of the day) CAPITALIZE on a ripe market. Who would be complaining right now if the price of Cabbage Patch dolls had quadrupled over night? Who was griping when gold spiked so fast a while back? You might not like it, I certainly don't, but it's not a fair assessment to say there ever has been a 'problem'. There is not and hasn't been a problem for the prepared person. Chance favors the prepared mind and the venture capitalists take big chances in hopes of big returns. Anyone who doesn't support this type of market, doesn't truly support the foundation of this country. We don't have to like it to admit and accept the fact that it's fair and those engaged in it are doing NOTHING wrong.

  13. My Cousin sold a Bushmaster M4 and a case of Tulammo .223 for $3600 at the height of the panic. He paid off the rest of his car payment with the profits. He only had $1000 in the package. I am with you, Magic. If someone is willing to be stupid enough to pay 3 and 4 times the MSRP on an item, why not? Maybe they will learn not to be stupid.

  14. Was told by a shop that a local guy spent $3,500 to buy two AR's. He used the money for his mortgage, car payment, utilities and all his insurance money for the month or two to buy them. His wife told him not to but he convinced his wife he could sell them for $3,500 each in a week. Last I heard he was having a hard time paying his bills because he isn't even making his money back.   I suspect there are a lot of people in the same boat now. Facing bills they cannot pay because they hoped to take advantage of the fear mongering people where doing.   Dolomite

  15. Let their tears fall like rain. I'll be more than happy to lowball these bastards with cash.   I've already seen the excuses starting on other forums- "I got a little carried away with the panic and now I need to sell some stuff". Oh well, sucks to be you. Now we'll see the real free market at work.

  17.   I think I'll keep a couple grand on hand for 'ol Jim Bob.  I have every intention of making low ball offers on these clowns that cleaned out retailers and are now looking at their CC statement wondering how they're going to pay it.  Jim Bob needs to feel pain for what he is trying to do to honest gun owners.  I will be scooping up as many rifles I can at 25% below retail value.  At least I'll have a good collection to pass on to my kids.

  19.   Well, you're probably right, as the only way they can really enforce the penalty for not buying insurance is to withhold any tax return money.   Another reason to never loan the government your money interest free for a year. If you're getting a return, you're screwing yourself to begin with.   - OS

  22.   Young?  Man, I'm 41.  I kinda don't believe I should have to join the military and go to a foreign country in order to exercise my right to keep and bear arms.  I am also old enough to remember when pretty much every "good ol' boy" drove a pickup truck that had a gun rack in the rear window.  That rack generally held at least a shotgun and, often, a rifle.  Those long guns were present year 'round, not just during hunting season and, no, hunting season isn't different because the Second Amendment is not about hunting.  It was not a big deal and no one freaked out nor were they portrayed as 'armed mobs' by most folks because, back then, people weren't drinking the pussification Kool-Aid.  Some of us might like to still be able to do that without being harassed and without anyone freaking out.  It isn't our fault that the general populace has their heads up their collective asses.  I also don't think that most of us are talking about walking down the sidewalk, either alone or in groups, while carrying an AR, etc.

What kind of message does this send to America’s enemies when the president of the United States gives a press conference standing in front of a banner celebrating one of the most brutal terrorists in history? It projects a clear signal that Washington is weak in the face of terrorism, and it is an insult to the memory of those who died at the hands of Arafat’s terror network.   http://weaselzippers.us/2013/03/21/pic-obama-speaks-under-giant-banner-depicting-the-godfather-of-palestinian-terrorism-yasser-arafat/   oh well, life goes on.  :waiting:  :censored:   :waiting:       .

  28.   It still does not meet the definiton of a "Straw Purchase" on the ATF's site.Which is knowingly purchasing a weapon for some one who can't on their own from a FFL. The is no law on Straw Purchase on private sales . Just selling to someone who shouldn't or can't own one.    I'm just saying it is interesting concept.

  29. Dolemite : "Buying or making any firearm with the intent to sell for a profit requires a FFL"   I don't know about "making " but please show me the law about this. Have you ever made something firearm related and profited from it.   "I purchased a Hi Power, restored it then sold it. So I broke the law. My whole intention was to repair and sell this one pistol. So I'm a criminal.   I serve with ATF, TBI, FBI DEA and just about every kind of LEO. None can tell me a case on this. All sales are for profit in one sense or the other. Depends on how you define profit.   Even the ones that sold stupid numbers most of the time received a warning from the ATF if no other serious law was broken   The law states  about doing this as a business or lively hood. Granted I know there is no set number. But I can find no set case law on this with out getting into a stupid number of firearms being sold with out other laws also being broken at the same time.

  31. Hmmm, my method would be wrapping about 30 ft of time fuse around him starting at his legs then ending at a blasting cap shoved up his pee hole. Can't really compete with that kinda physical and psychological torture. The end result would be watching him bleed out very slowly from where his wiener used to be.

  33. There was no temptation there, just a reaction brought on by a momentary mental break.  Not guilty by reason of insanity.   On another note, perhaps if our legal system treated drunk drivers as more than a moving violation folks would think twice about it; or maybe not.  I guess I don't know the answers.  What I do know is that the fatal consequences of driving drunk are very real and clear.  No, we can't legislate people into doing the right things, but we can SEVERELY punish those who do the wrong things.  I would sleep better at night if vehicular homicides caused by drunk driving was punishable by death.  Anyone who drinks and gets behind the wheel is not just taking a chance with their life, they are taking a chance with the lives of innocent folks.  There is no way to argue that.  On those occassions that they kill an innocent they should be treated the same as any other premeditated murderer.   I hope this 20 year old POS is rotting in HELL right now.  I hope the parents of this 20 year old drunk driving POS spend the rest of their lives knowing they are responsible for putting that life taking human garbage on this planet.  I hope this father is found not guilty and set free.  I hope that in the future more fathers do this.

  34. OK, maybe time to eat a little crow?  I bashed my Sig 1911 pretty good.  On the advice of some on this forum sent my barrel to Tim Calhoun.  What a great guy!  Helped with getting my reloads more to spec.  But he also did a little throat work on the barrel.  This morning (yes, it was cold)  went through about 150 rounds of mixed brass, LRN,LSWC, JFP, and JRN without any problems.  So hopefully things stay this way, and am a big fan of Tim's.

  39. Awesome shoot! The weather really did turn out perfect and we got in all 7 stages. Tish and I got to score and I even got a chance to run the clock! I had one strong stage, stage 5. Two steel targets at distance, then a shoot and advance vertically up the field shooting 14 rounds. With no targets obscured, it was really an exercise in cover and 'shoot and move.' The simplicity worked for me as did my two reloads and I almost went under twenty seconds (I did see the fasted time was just over 10!) Stage 2 is where I took it the worst, with 12 potential targets and some moving stuff... I didn't even SEE one of the targets from the window... TOTAL mental laps. Had a great squad though, thanks to Robert for keeping it running smoothly and our squad mates for ALL pitching in. Michael and Chip thanks for the garment hook up and of course MCTS for another well run match. We'll see you all at the next one!

  40. As a veteran, I still oppose this bill.  I am against ANY bill that gives one group of citizens privileges that other citizens cannot have.  I do not favor laws that permit retired police officers, judges, or anyone else to carry without a permit unless everyone who can legally possess a firearm can do so as well.  Thus, I do not support a bill which gives certain veterans a privilege that everyone cannot have.   If, as a private citizen, you want to start a fund to pay part or all of the fee for veterans, I'm fine with that and would probably contribute.  But making a law that gives special privileges is a bad idea.

  42. Why do we even have to have a permit? If you can buy it you should be able to carry it! Open or conceal.

  43. Hey that's great! But what about the rest of us that served less than 20 years? or are not 100% disabled? or what about just ordinary average Joes that would rather not have to continually renew every few years? Lifetime permits are a great idea, I have an Indiana lifetime permit, but jeesh they sure as heck kept the number of folks who would be eligable as limited as possible...

  45. I either own or have shot many of the guns recommended and they are all good choices to look at. I wouldn't take any off the list.   That all being said, noone but you can decide on the gun that fits your hand best and its hard to find a good all around gun.   A gun that is highly concealable is not going to be a great gun at the range and something comforable at the range is rarely going to be the pocket rocket thats good to hide all the time. Nor is it going to have the mag size that I would prefer in a gun that I kept in my nightstand.    one gun is going to be a compromise and only you can make those choices.

  47. The main problem with modern war (and by modern I mean from Vietnam till the present) is that we are trying to fight with our hands tied behind our backs. I have been in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have seen this first hand. The war could have been over with in a year or two easily if we had just went in there and fought the war like wars should be fought. Instead we practically had to get congressional approval to kill a terrorist.   Those who say we have no business in the Middle East have obviously forgotton 9/11 and who perpetrated it. The Taliban and Al Qaeda should have been totally wiped out long ago. Yes, there would have been civilian casualties, but then when you look at it, 9/11 was mostly civilian casualties ON PURPOSE! Just something to think about before you start condemning the war and the troops who give blood, sweat, tears, limbs, and sometimes their own life to defend you.
