To bring this thread to a close, he was put to rest today. A *huge* amount of thanks and credit to both the local Masonic Lodge and the Campbell County Honor Guard. The Lodge conducted the Masonic last-rites for him last night and the Campbell County Honor Guard saw to full military honors at his burial this morning.4 points

I don't think you understand the argument. Considering the sacrifice Jesus made I think he expects nothing less than full devotion from people, not treating him as a hedged bet or an insurance policy.4 points

There are many on this very forum who think it will never happen in Tennessee or nationally and they are sadly mistaken. They thought Obama would never, ever be reelected. They think no Democrat would ever jeopardize their position to vote on gun control. Colorado is gone following the precedent New York set. I'm here to tell you we have a long, long road ahead that will not end well if you cherish your rights.4 points

I'm gonna go with "follow the money." I have been following this since Kroger started the campaign a couple of years ago. Such an absolutely silly law. I'm tired of hearing the argument that this will hurt mom & pop stores. Of course it will, but that is no justification at all. The consumers are who should be catered to, not business. We're no better than those liberal commies in the slave states who try to outlaw Walmart because they offer low prices and no union. I'm ashamed of Tennessee on this one.3 points

At the end of the tax year, the IRS office sent an inspector to audit the books of a local hospital. While the IRS agent was checking the books, he turned to the CFO of the hospital and said, I notice you buy a lot of bandages. What do you do with the end of the roll when there's too little left to be of any use?" "Good question," noted the CFO. "We save them up and send them back to the bandage company and every once in a while, they send us a free roll." "Oh," replied the auditor, somewhat disappointed that his unusual question had a practical answer. But on he went, in his obnoxious way. "What about all these plaster purchases? What do you do with what's left over after setting a cast on a patient?" "Ah, yes," replied the CFO, realizing that the inspector was trying to trap him with an unanswerable question. "We save it and send it back to the manufacturer and every so often they will send us a free bag of plaster." "I see," replied the auditor, thinking hard about how he could fluster the know-it-all CFO. "Well," he went on, "What do you do with all the remains from the circumcision surgeries?" "Here, too, we do not waste," answered the CFO. "We save all the little foreskins and send them to the IRS office, and about once a year they send us a complete prick." (No offense to any IRS auditors out there :D )2 points

if you carry a gun in you ca then shut the heck up. It is no one else's business, and it only carries a downside if found out. If someone axes me if I have a gun in my truck I tell the truth. "No". Of course I don't add that there are two.2 points

"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws." - Dr. Floyd Ferris in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged2 points

I think lawsuits will pop up every time someone gets fired now. The plaintiff will claim they were fired for having a gun in their car. This is going to cost the taxpayers of Tennessee millions of dollars in litigation. It was fine before and now that this has passed it changes nothing. A worker will still be fired for having a gun in their car the only difference is now the employer won't say that is why they were fired. Problem was people couldn't keep their mouth shut about having a gun in their car. And if they think they can now openly say they have a gun in their car, when they couldn't before, without ramifications they are probably going to to have a big surprize. I am glad you guys got what you wanted but I don't see how it improved it from what it was before. Dolomite2 points

Sorry, didn't realize I was bragging. Just happy to get any kind of .22 ammo. Not much to be had out there. All three of my .22's feed it just fine. This also means I get to head out to my dad's property with my 10 and 13 year old sons and do some plinking. Thats going to do us quite a few weekends. What more could a father ask for? Spending some good quality time with his sons out on the range plinking bottles and can. And, at the end of the day,not much money out of my pocket to do it with. So yes, I guess I am bragging. Matter of fact, bragging pretty hard.2 points

EXACTLY! Kool Aid consumption is not solely a left-wing activity. When people are only looking for one explanation, they are going to exercise selective observation and are sure to find exactly what they are looking for even if it's totally absurd or if their few cherry picked "facts" are contradicted by piles of evidence. If people want to know who is responsible for this ammunition shortage, many can take a look in the mirror and think about their panicked stockpile of ammo piled up in the garage or listed on GunBroker for 3-4 times the retail cost. This particular topic is interesting to me. On one hand, gun owners talk about the vital importance of practicing with their firearms, but when the federal law enforcement agencies purchase ammunition to practice with, people flip out and believe a takeover is in the works. Or let's assume they are preparing for civil unrest and civil unrest did happen. My strong suspicion is that many people actually have very selective concerns based on who would be carrying out the unrest. Think for a second and be honest with yourself. If the Occupy protests had turned into civil unrest or if the LA riots happened again, would you: 1) expect the government to do nothing to stop it, and/or 2) be upset if the government used violence to put down the unrest? My point here is that I am very skeptical that the Alex Jones crowd is really all that concerned about civil liberties, but is really only concerned about civil liberties for specific groups that fit their own definition of who *should* be protected by the Constitution. Also, on this "no hesitation" target issue, unless something has changed there is no evidence that the government purchased targets with pregnant women on them. Based on my reading of the Alex Jones story, the government purchased targets from a company that also happens to sell the "no hesitation" targets people are wringing their hands over. At no point has anyone been able to confirm whether the government has purchased any of those targets. This is the kind of "journalism" Alex Jones practices. He takes one piece of information, finds some other random possibly related piece of information, and makes a huge leap in logic that is ALWAYS grounded in his conspiratorial mindset. For him, everything is a conspiracy because there simply is no other option in his mind.2 points

Whittaker's is in Owensboro, Ky. I believe that they are the largest gun store in Ky. I've found the best way to keep up with their inventory is on Facebook. They post their morning and afternoon releases every day and seem to get all of the best toys. They've put out several PMR-30s in the last week and have ARs up every day at pre-hysteria prices.1 point

Ramsey said they are going to proceed with passing the deal in the Senate. You can bet that if Harwell jumped in to keep it alive in the House sub-committee (which she did) they have a deal worked out. Watch, the House will tack the grocery store thing onto something else, and they will have a Conference Committee to get it out. Little boy (Mathew Hill) who popped in the House Local Government Committee will get Mae Beavered next year, Beth meant for that to go forward, and she will be displeased.1 point

A little more info for comparison purposes. SN Snub Nose (LCR or Mdl 36) DW = Dan Wesson 6" HR = Handi Rifle 18.5" .357 Magnum, 158g SWC, 6 grain of Unique: DW = 1026 fps HR = 1278 fps. .38 Special 128g LRN, 4.3g Bullseye: SN = 776 DW = 880 HR = 1108 And some factory ammo: .357 Magnum Fiocchi 158g XTP SN = 1033 DW = 1171 HR = 1496 VS. Hornady 158g XTP: DW = 1265 HR = 1655 (Yes the Hornady brand is considerably hotter.) I've not shot my Rossi 16" much with the chronograph, but the velocities I've checked were less than 50 fps below the 18.5" H&R. Generally I gain about 25% - 30% in the rifle vs. the 6" revolver. And I've yet to have any significant leading problems using Alox, with or without JPW. YMMV1 point

That is awesome! I remember my Dad being so good at chess it made me sick. I wanted to play him...so, he gave me a book that was about 3/4 of an inch thick about chess and said "After your know what it is, I will play you." So I read it and played him for probably four years and never came close haha. BUT!..One fine evening we where on probably our third or fourth game and I knew about 4 moves ahead that he couldn't beat me. It was all I could do to keep from looking up at him because I wanted to scream it out loud! After about five minutes went by, I finally looked up and he was sitting there with his arms crossed grinning at me Lmao! He said "That's the ONLY time that'll ever happen boy!" Hahahaha! Oh and, it was :)1 point

I'm happy to report that I am once again gainfully employed full-time! I did get to do some consulting work during my job hunt period which was great but I'm glad to have something a little more consistent! Aside from being thankful that I found something I think I'll really like, I'm especially thankful that not only do I not need to move out of state (as it was looking I might) but my commute is less than half of what it was and about a headache free as commuting can get.1 point

Ok, think about it, is there any democratic liberal women that are attractive? :shake: I believe it's part of the reason why they vomit so many lies and mis-truths, it's their dying need to gain some from of attention because all these hags that I've seen could turn Medusa into stone. Di-fi reminds me of a old teacher I had that hated everything anyone did, smelled and you cringed when she raised her voice, which was often. Personally, the ugliest women that came to mind for me was DebbieWasserrmanShultzs, now that human is ugly. On a happier note, Ted Cruz is awesome. :usa: More Republicans need to learn from this fellow. This from the WeaselZippers blogger; In one corner we have Ted Cruz, a brilliant Harvard educated Constitutional lawyer who has authored more than 80 Supreme Court briefs and presented more than 40 oral arguments, including nine before the Supreme Court itself, he also served as law clerk for Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist. In the other we have Dianne Feinstein, who has been in the Senate for decades and could fit her knowledge of the Constitution on the tip of a pin. :rofl:1 point

It amazes me how our society has become so insensitive or perhaps desensitized to traumatic violence. I mean this is mental and physical trauma at it's peak. Unless a person has been in a war zone, it seems impossible for me to fathom how horrific it must be to be pinned a vehicle with massive gunfire focused on you. Can you imagine the shear terror, fear, how loud it was, and just plain frightening this had to be. I don't care how tough and brawny you are. All of this at the hands of our own public agencies, not a rioting bunch of gang bangers! How could anyone responsible for the government of that city feel like a replacement vehicle, which comes with "strings" attached, is even remotely a fitting restitution. That city owes these citizens a public apology, they need to publicly admit that this was a terrible mistake, and take care of these ladies as if they were soldiers returning from battle. They will be dealing with PTSD for the rest of their lives. They will need and deserve long term "after care". The people of LA should be ashamed.1 point

Trade you being white which comes with (you can't have the job, we need a XYZ for our quota), (you can't have aid, its for minorities), (we have to give this contract to a woman owned or minority owned business), (you can't form a group about white people, that is racist, but the NAACP etc is OK), and similar restrictions for my share of (here is your job, do the best you can!), (ah, you qualify for a discount/aid program!), (you were not the low bidder but we prefer your PC to saving tax dollars), (why yes, you can start a chapter of the straight white men here on campus), etc. All I ever see are hurdles and walls that prevent me, being white, from getting ahead. Yes, I have a good education --- because my parents paid a TON for it because they wanted me to succeed in life --- and I am not sorry that I have ONE advantage with which to overcome the DOZENS of racist, sexist hurdles in my path that try to give a handicap advantage to those who cannot do a good job but are selected over me anyway. Its like giving me a 3500 stroke handicap, putting me up against tiger woods, and then saying I am the better golfer. And then, to add insult to stupidity, making tiger apolgise to me for being more skilled.1 point

Hold off on the AR, prices are falling, no need to overpay if you have one already. Don't severely overpay for 5.56 ammo, but .60 per round is a steady price right now. Yes it's high but it's that or don't shoot.1 point

The subjective ratings that the various brands receive are all hearsay and not the result of actual ownership, side-by-side comparison, etc. Who knows anyone who actually wore out an AR? But if you wear tactical sunglasses and have a TV show, your opinion counts extra. Just my opinion. No sunglasses, no camera. :D1 point

So if 8 "trained" LEO's can expend 12.75 rounds each (102/8 = 12.75) and still not neutralize the "threat" of 2 unarmed women.......then how does the liberal logic work to suggest that the average joe should not be able to have more then 10 rounds to defend himself and his family from all the crazy whackjobs that CA has been releasing do to lack of prison funding......retorical question of course. I know several awesome LEOs (obviously not from LAPD) that would never operate like this, and for their sake I feel bad because it gives peope a bad taste in their mouth for Law Enforcement everywhere. Glad these women are still alive, and I hope they don't settle for anything short of civil and hopefully criminal action against all 8 and the city.1 point
