What bothers me about this is the officers were obviously out to kill the suspect, I'm not saying he was innocent, but their job is to arrest and prosecute not vigilantism. They are police officers, not hired guns to kill who they don't like.5 points

Young? Man, I'm 41. I kinda don't believe I should have to join the military and go to a foreign country in order to exercise my right to keep and bear arms. I am also old enough to remember when pretty much every "good ol' boy" drove a pickup truck that had a gun rack in the rear window. That rack generally held at least a shotgun and, often, a rifle. Those long guns were present year 'round, not just during hunting season and, no, hunting season isn't different because the Second Amendment is not about hunting. It was not a big deal and no one freaked out nor were they portrayed as 'armed mobs' by most folks because, back then, people weren't drinking the pussification Kool-Aid. Some of us might like to still be able to do that without being harassed and without anyone freaking out. It isn't our fault that the general populace has their heads up their collective asses. I also don't think that most of us are talking about walking down the sidewalk, either alone or in groups, while carrying an AR, etc.4 points

S&W M&P Magpul edition. Pretty much done with it now. Haven't been able to get out and shoot it since the magnifier was added. Also got a CMMG 22 conversion which I've only been able to shoot indoors at 25 yards. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 23 points

Because people project their own morals and values whether they be good or bad, which are relative terms. Folks who have never experienced evil have a hard time understanding it. "I would never hurt or steal from someone; I can't understand why someone would", is what folks like that say. This is why they don't "believe" in firearms because they refuse to believe there are bad people in this world. They watch tv and read the news is blissful ignorance that the horrible things that happen to folks could actually happen to them. Really, folks don't need to understand evil, they just need to come to terms with the fact that it exists, and evil will not bend to good intentions and hope; it will only bend to superior violence and firepower.3 points

Even thought prices are high, and/or the wait is long, the best is still the best. No short term situation is gonna make DPMS a top line rifle.3 points

Why can't they just admit they f'd up royal? This is the reason there is so much distrust of the LAPD. They are planning to settle out of court so they don't have to admit wrongdoing and they can gag the victims as part of the deal. IMO, these ladies should absolutely not settle out of court. They should sue civilly and push for criminal prosecution of the officers involved. This whole "well he the other officers were shooting and I shot too" argument they always give is BS. Every officer is responsible for their rounds same as me. None of those POS's have any business walking the street free without threat of prosecution, let alone wearing a badge.3 points

Talk about pissed........ My step-son is 19. He's an awesome young man. He graduated High School at 16 and joined the National Guard at 17 with a contract to pay for his college. At Ft. Sill, He finished 1st out of 250 in his "boot camp" training. He then finished 1st out of another group of about the same number in his AIT training at the same location. He finished his first semester of college and half of the second while in the NG before he turned 18 with a 3+ point average. He's been back less than a week from a 1 year deployment to the Middle east and has been working towards getting signed up for another year of college (he took a second semester online while deployed). While deployed he signed up for 6 more years. Well, he found out yesterday that his financial assistance contract with the Guard is no more. No more assistance for college at all. Due to budget cuts of our military. Of course his pay was cut before he got back home. He's been making less than he made when he left, even with time and and rank increase. Talk about a %$*& up situation.... But the good news is this: Welfare is just fine...no cuts in pay or bennies for those folks. They're just fine with their welfare check and all the money they can make from drugs. End of rant.2 points

What would you think if that tube of toothpaste you bought instead was filled with mustard? You wouldn't really know until you squeezed the tube. Likewise, these politicians may wear the label of conservative, Republican or Tea Party but it's not until pressure is applied do we find out what's really inside. Time and again we've squeezed John McCain, Lindsay Graham and a host of others whom we thought were on our side only to be disappointed yet again when bipartisan RINO came out. Liberal politicians never surprise me. They're the same inside as well as out; hypocrites through and through.2 points

Sorry folks, I am a noob to the "innards" of how forums work. I noticed on my profile page there is a green box that says "1 neutral". I cruised through this Feedback and Support trying to figure out what that represented, but didn't come up with anything. I'm sure it's not a big deal, but I am curious. I apologize if I am overlooking something obvious. Thanks, BravoLima2 points

So if 8 "trained" LEO's can expend 12.75 rounds each (102/8 = 12.75) and still not neutralize the "threat" of 2 unarmed women.......then how does the liberal logic work to suggest that the average joe should not be able to have more then 10 rounds to defend himself and his family from all the crazy whackjobs that CA has been releasing do to lack of prison funding......retorical question of course. I know several awesome LEOs (obviously not from LAPD) that would never operate like this, and for their sake I feel bad because it gives peope a bad taste in their mouth for Law Enforcement everywhere. Glad these women are still alive, and I hope they don't settle for anything short of civil and hopefully criminal action against all 8 and the city.2 points

I have curbed my shooting so I wouldn't say I'm good in all areas but I've got enough to wait this foolishness out. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay .28 a round for 22lr or $1 a round for steel cased .223.2 points

I had a lot of problems out a bulk box of Winchester .22lr. Called them told them what was going on, and they sent me a shipping label to send the remaining of it to them. Today I received a $20 voucher good for all Winchester products. I wasn't expecting anything back at all, but they really came through. Just thought I would share with you all.1 point

I got home from work this evening and this is what I had waiting on me. Two Remington Bucket O' Bullets. Not the greatest ammo but considering I am one of those people that got caught with their pants down when it came to .22 ammo I'm pretty happy. Going to be a good weekend. Besides My Remington rifles seem to like anything. I can't say enough about Cabela's fast shipping. I ordered it on Monday afternoon and it arrives Thursday evening.1 point

Found this link for a place that makes these ... they also make some other cool pieces. Price from the website is ~$300. They say they'll even use cases from your gun or custom calibers if you want. http://www.oldeworldcollectibles.com/products/Bullet%20set%20.223.html1 point

That is awesome! I remember my Dad being so good at chess it made me sick. I wanted to play him...so, he gave me a book that was about 3/4 of an inch thick about chess and said "After your know what it is, I will play you." So I read it and played him for probably four years and never came close haha. BUT!..One fine evening we where on probably our third or fourth game and I knew about 4 moves ahead that he couldn't beat me. It was all I could do to keep from looking up at him because I wanted to scream it out loud! After about five minutes went by, I finally looked up and he was sitting there with his arms crossed grinning at me Lmao! He said "That's the ONLY time that'll ever happen boy!" Hahahaha! Oh and, it was :)1 point

I'm happy to report that I am once again gainfully employed full-time! I did get to do some consulting work during my job hunt period which was great but I'm glad to have something a little more consistent! Aside from being thankful that I found something I think I'll really like, I'm especially thankful that not only do I not need to move out of state (as it was looking I might) but my commute is less than half of what it was and about a headache free as commuting can get.1 point

It seems like the Ruger SR9c is my best choice right now. I really like the Taurus PT92, but Academy didn't have one, and everyone else's prices are MUCH higher. Does anyone know who might have a SR9c in stock online or in the Knoxville area? I'd really like to hold as many as possible before I buy.1 point

A 1911 needs the recoil spring replaced every 1,000 rounds or so. Believe it or not but the spring will shorten about an inch in that time. A lot of malfunctions can be attributed to a weak recoil spring. Anytime I buy a 1911 I swap the recoil spring because most people don't no matter how many rounds down range. It is cheap insurance. The whole Gifffords show is a great window into the future dreamed for by the Demorat gun grabbers. Ya see, this guy and others like him are much more erudite and enlightened than the rest of us delightful rustics who actually believe that the Constitution means what it says; ergo, its ok for him to own an AR; but it aint ok for you and i to own one. As my 23 year old is fond of sayin: "...These sons and daughters of satan are busy tryin to bring the old world to the new. They are part of an avant guarde, new would be "ruling class" that wants to make this country into a new pseudo-european serfdom in which they are the lords and you can guess who the serfs are...". This man (...like john glenn, john mccain, and several others...) is living proof that an excellent military record and service is not tatamount to sainthood, patriotism, nor love of country. All these people took an oath to "....defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic...". I dont know about you all; but it looks to me like that all them solemn oaths weren't worth the breath it took to say 'em. Proving again that there are lots of opportunistic, no-conscience, peices of excrement out there masquerading as heroes and "enlightened ones". They would have you and i believe that they are the "best and brightest"; and only they are fit to "do the peoples" business" in government. At the end of the day; all this is about what ya believe down in side. If ya have no core beliefs, a bit of fame or political opportunity will soon bring the lack of them out. I say, as the old scotsmen would say: "....Ta heel with 'em all; theyre all no good...". leroy1 point

Yep. DPMS rifles always seem to work. I put all my AR's together. Since it's the IBM PC of rifles, you can build one with a wide range of quality. I had great luck with an RRA upper, except for their stupid lead time. All of my rifles run really well. Some have some cheap parts, and some have great parts. I trust the MPI tested BCG's more than the cheap ones, even though they all work. If I ever have to rely on one, it will be the one that has the high end perts.1 point

The light frame Springfields are great. I've had a stainless Springfield loaded on my list for a long time. May not ever get to it. I'm mostly a rifle guy, and don't get around to shooting the pistols I already own. I like 1911's, but also don't see myself dropping 3-5 grand on one.1 point

What the hell. SMDH. This is about to get a hell of a lot more expensive for the LAPD.1 point

My best load for rifle ( I don't actually own a rifle, but I load them for a close friend and he LOVES them) Would be a Lee 358-158-SWC, with a Hornady gas check, my own recipe for lube, sized .359, CCI magnum primer, RP brass and 15.0g of H110. Thats the starting charge for a 158g jacketed bullet that should give a little over 1600 fps. Imagine the cat bullet velocity might be a tad less as resistance and pressure are lower with lead. Accuracy is excellent out of a Rossi lever gun.1 point

From personal experience I would avoid Roggio......hit or miss on quality and their customer service is deplorable. In my humble opinion Seekins, Noveske, and LaRue are the cream of the crop, but they are priced accordingly.....and for casual users would probably be overkill unless you just have money to blow. As others have stated there is some serious snobbery out there in regards to what is good what is bad.....often times this can be related back to someone seeing or hearing about someone with a beard and multi-cam pants using brand x and not liking brand y. If you only plan to shoot a couple thousand a year and are not competing then you should be fine with a $800-$1000 gun (pre-CT pricing). In fact I've seen some guys run some $800 Bushmasters really hard without issue. If you are wanting it for primarily home defense then just make sure you get enough time in at the range to ensure it is reliable and that you know how to operate it effectively. Two things always make me scratch my head at the range..... 1. A guy with a $2,500 high end AR with a $100 optic on it.....If you have an overall budget, don't blow the whole thing on your gun and piece together a lame optics package. There are some relatively inexpensive optics out there ($300-$500) that are suitable for most shooters. Whatever you get ensure you pair it with a quality mount.....it won't matter how much you spent on the gun and optic if the mount won't stay tight and in place. 2. A guy who spends $3K on a tricked out gun but has no clue how to shoot it effectively. There is no shame in taking a class, even a basic one, to establish good fundamentals. This is something that new shooters often overlook and should budget for. All that being said....this is America, and for now you can still buy whatever you want just because you want to! So whichever route you choose, enjoy it and welcome to the community.1 point

I am sorry it's taken me this long to respond to the thread but I wanted to offer that I'll be sure to keep your grandfather and your family in my prayers. While the outcome of these few days may not be what you desire, I cannot help but notice an underlying statement in what has transpired and hope that you will find some encouragement in it as you face the uncertainties ahead: All too often we rely on the words of doctors as being final and authoritarian. When they deliver bad news, we tend to take it at face value and sometimes resign ourselves to "the worst". Your grandfather's prognosis was that he would only be with you for a few more hours and that was several days ago. The fact that he persists with you is proof that the human spirit is an indomitable thing and that doctors do not always have the last word. God does. Those are two incredibly powerful and extremely valuable lessons to take away from this. It's funny how sometimes the people we have looked up to our entire lives take a bit longer to stay with us and teach us a few more things before they finally lay down their burdens and embrace the eternal rewards of a life well lived. Hang in there.1 point

When your shooting a gun you have the rifle stock against your shoulder the rifle never got to fully accelerate, and you brace for impact. 2 things you cannot do on the bullet end. Think about a shooting a rifle and just allowing it to fly back and hit your shoulder it would hurt like hell.1 point

I am now all good. I have plenty of ammo for everything I have to shoot. But that doesn't mean I won't buy more if the price is right.1 point
