I keep reading comments on their Facebook posts from pro-freedom Colorado residents who feel "helpless" and ignored by the elected representatives, stating that they try to call their reps and are told that they can't leave messages, or email and fax and received canned responses thanking them for their concern. There, like most places, the people are being ignored and the politicrats are doing exactly whatever the hell they want to do and continue down the road of passing laws that people don't want. So my question is... what does that leave? When the vermin that infect our government systems refuse to do the bidding of the people who elected them and put them there, what now? Sure you can vote them out of office at the end of their term, but how much damage can they do in the meantime? Once freedoms are stripped away it's almost impossible to restore them. I hate to be that guy, but I'm seriosuly starting to wonder when folks are going to hit their limit and start voting with deeds instead of words. There are already posts on Magpul's FB page from people who say they are 5th (and longer) generation Coloradans who refuse to tuck their tails and flee to another state but desire to stand and fight for their freedoms. Things really could get interesting within our generation.4 points

I was talking with d3vo today at lunch and I think I figured out what missing that I don't like about this season and what I didn't like about much of season 2: Fear of the zombies. There isn't any in most episodes. Season 1 was full of "Oh crap!" moments where you just knew someone was gonna get eaten. Season 2 was 3 weeks of walking around in the woods looking for zombie-Sophie, followed by the rest of the season sitting more or less safe at the farm. We had the one episode with Rick and Shane on a run to where the school bus was that had some good "are they gonna make it?" moments, and of course the last episode was full of fear for the characters. This season started strong while clearing the prison, and having their "stalker" drawing zombies in on them. Since then they're sitting tight in their safe cell block. Woodbury/TheGuv is a threat, sure, but I can get that human vs human threat on lots of shows. Even during "Clear" the Z's are sparse and eaily trapped or avoided. This is the show where the zombies should be the things to fear. With the safety of the fences and bars plus the ease of killing them with a pocket knife, they've been reduced to an irritant. The fact that Woodbury is using them for sport further reduces the fear factor. When I see Z's showing up now, I wonder what kind of gory explosions the FX guys are going to pull off when the Z is dispatched. I used to wonder which human was going to die.2 points

This is probably old news for most, but if it saves one person some $$$... If you are approaching the speedway from Johnson City, take great care thru the fiefdom of Bluff City/Piney Flats. Speed limit drops to 45, and BC has made well over $1.5 million in the last few years off of a strategically-placed speed camera monitoring both sides of 11E. They're located about a quarter-mile or so past the Industrial Park intersection (red light) if Bristol-bound, and just past Pardners BBQ if JC-bound. Watch for the small warning signs, and don't feed the trolls...2 points

I think it's an excellent idea. More competition in the market is always a good thing. Liquor store owners certainly aren't happy about it as they're likely to lose their cheap wine business to the grocery stores. But liquor stores manage to survive in plenty of other states where wine is sold in grocery stores.2 points

I am sorry it's taken me this long to respond to the thread but I wanted to offer that I'll be sure to keep your grandfather and your family in my prayers. While the outcome of these few days may not be what you desire, I cannot help but notice an underlying statement in what has transpired and hope that you will find some encouragement in it as you face the uncertainties ahead: All too often we rely on the words of doctors as being final and authoritarian. When they deliver bad news, we tend to take it at face value and sometimes resign ourselves to "the worst". Your grandfather's prognosis was that he would only be with you for a few more hours and that was several days ago. The fact that he persists with you is proof that the human spirit is an indomitable thing and that doctors do not always have the last word. God does. Those are two incredibly powerful and extremely valuable lessons to take away from this. It's funny how sometimes the people we have looked up to our entire lives take a bit longer to stay with us and teach us a few more things before they finally lay down their burdens and embrace the eternal rewards of a life well lived. Hang in there.2 points

THe science is Newton's third law of motion. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. It's what tells us that hollywood is BS. When someone shoots someone and it blows them off their feet??? For that to happen the recoil would be equal to that. I know nothing of physics but I would say the reason you felt such an impact is the equal amount of force being focused into such a small area. ...but what do I know.2 points

Oh yeah, his story totally fails the smell test. It is far and away a load of crap. I would feel comfortable speculating that he isn't a true believer when it comes to gun grabbing. This is simply an opportunistic platform to seek prominence/ elected office. If it came out that the DNC power brokers offered him backing if he hopped on board the anti-2A train I would be less shocked than if there was a video of Obama out there a la EFAD.2 points

Well, ask Madam Speaker why she would not allow debate on SJR2 (election of judges). They are not listening to anything that the People have to say, only that which is best (in their opinion) for the Republican caucus. Every one of them thinks only of partisanship and the advancement of their power. Duty and obligation to their constituents is a thing of the past, it died with the penny post card evidently...1 point

Like my Pro Raptor myself, great shooter. Had it four years and the factory tritium sights have burned out and not good day time target sights for these aged eyes. Ordered a set of Trijicon HD sights yesterday, green front & yellow rear with a 1-2 month back order. A week ago everyone had a few of these in stock but I wanted to check around and see if they were worth the $140.00. In one week they went from available and in-stock to a 1-2 month back order? This going down hill shortage is now including sights? What sights do you guys use on your Kimbers for CCW and IDPA / competition shooting?1 point

The real problem is going to be the lack of people that even care about freedoms in the elections. Many Republicans were either LAZY in the fall elections, or just plain dumb for not putting Obama out of office. I wasn't thrilled about Romney, but hey. I wanted Obama out at all costs, and maybe regrouping in 2016. But many Conservative voters stayed home rather than vote for Romney. I heard several I know say so. And that's just in my small circle of friends. The Liberals have a dream and that dream is Marxist Socialism. To get there, all they have to do is get the majority of Americans dependent on Uncle Sam for their needs, get them fired up and then get them to the voting booth, in buses if necessary (sound familiar?). They did an excellent job of it too. They use mental manipulation on the campaign trail by using vague terms in promise after promise, lie after lie, that each person can shape into their own idea of what was said or promised. Take the "Hope and Change" slogan and the "Forward" slogans. These are words that allows each person to conjure up their own images suited to their needs and in each persons mind without any support or explanation by the administration. The Liberal plan is to produce a citizen that is dependent on the government for everything they want or need and do it in huge numbers. They fight against the Constitution by ridiculing and painting anyone that holds it in high esteem as outside the norm and backward ("holding on to their guns and Bibles"). The REAL problem is, the entire political scale has slid to the left. Even the Republicans are moving left. Most of those in the House are more afraid of loosing their cushy jobs and taking the easy road, than doing what they were sent there to do. They are caving in. Our own Bob Corker is a prime example. He was having dinner with Obama, as were 11 or 12 other WEAK Conservative Senators, while Rand Paul was filibustering John Brennan's nomination and doing his job as best he could. I believe the mid term elections will decide the future of our country. The Liberals are fired up. They feel they they are on the home stretch and way in the lead. To them, this is their time of history and on the verge of taking over the country and they are going to bring it on. Hell, they ALREADY ARE.!! Obama and the Liberals know that the mid terms are the most important elections in our history. I just hope Conservative America wakes up and smells the coffee between now and then! Oh...I sure do hope Magpull sticks to their "mags" on this one.......(got to stick to the thread topic)1 point

This day and age you are better off trading for hard to find items that have been hyperinflated due to the political arena. For instance, I was at the gun show and saw a vendor with some Saiga 12 drums for $249 each. I had a couple of Glock 33 round mags I was looking to get rid of. I only had $60 between the two of them, but traded straight up for a drum that even in November sold for $99. The vendor was happy and so was I. I think it also has to do with people understanding what there items are now worth, but being too ashamed to utter a $400 price for a stripped lower or $50 for a bulk box of 22lr.1 point

Personally, I have all the guns I "want", but I just really like trading. It is fun for me to see what I can trade for. Trading has been around forever and will be around long after the paper money is gone.1 point

Not me. Wouldn't matter much one way or the other. From what I've observed there has been race related bias on both sides of this issue from the start. My feeling is the incident was instigated by Z, as it has always been. However, I agree that if the only evidence the prosecution has is the physical evidence from the scene then Z will walk as a free man using the self defense argument. I still am trying to figure how SYG ever made it into the argument at the start of all this. I don't recall Z's lawyers ever suggesting they would use it and it wouldn't apply if Z's story was that Martin had him pinned. You can't make the choice to "stand your ground" if escape isn't an option. We'll see; I'm expecting some revealing evidence to come out when this goes to trial.1 point

I would add that the type of armor this guy is wearing is designed to absorb energy very well as plates are overlapped to transfer energy from one to the next. I'm surprised he even described it as a "punch" since enough of the energy was absorbed that he would only feel the resonant force from the strike. And that dude's shorts are distracting. My wife wouldn't let me leave the house like that.1 point

Fantastic thread idea. I will enjoy reading these. 1993 Republic of South Korea FTX in the freaking rain. I was helping a friend of mine out of an Avenger (HMMWV with stinger pods on the top) turret. The Avenger was sitting on the side of a mountain for the exercise. He hits the ground and we walk off about 5 feet when we hear a noise and turn around just in time to see the Avenger slide sideways out of the position in a cascade of mud and roll down the mountain. In a classic Hollywood moment he turns slowly to me and says "I'm gonna need a ride."1 point

I'm going to disagree. In 2007, I took an AK round to the rear ESAPI, lower right quadrant and it knocked me to me knees. It did not penetrate the ESAPI but deformed the rear and messed up the soft armor. I had a very ugly fist sized bruise for weeks and for a few days, it hurt to breathe deep. Is there some kind of science that I'm missing behind your statement? Because that shit definitely hurt me more than firing a weapon.1 point

Actually, no. There ARE people dedicated to put in the time just to screw with folks for practicing a religion. And no, it would be incorrect to assume the university, especially Vanderbilt University, would take appropriate action to address issues such as that. It is possible, however, that Vanderbilt Catholic, one of the larger groups exiled by Vanderbilt, came out of all of this smelling like a rose. They got bounced from Vanderbilt Campus proper, and the Bishop of Nashville gave them Frassati House that is right behind the Cathedral of the Incarnation. (Frassati house is a beautiful old home that also once served as a Vanderbilt fraternity house and now is Catholic Church property) Frassati House shares a lot line with Vanderbilt, and is in a higher traffic, better place than it ever was when it was on Vanderbilt Campus. They've been re-named University Catholic to not infringe on the august Vandy name, and they serve as many or more students because they also have Belmont and other students using the facility. The Law of Unintended Consequences at work. Score one for the good guys. They are at: 2004 Terrace Place, Nashville, TN 37203 Phone: 615.322.0104 http://universitycatholic.org1 point

Jsut read this. Don't know if anyone else posted it. We need to call our senators to keep this bill moving. There is still hope Action Alert: Call Sen. Stevens to Dislodge SB 250 Out of Committee Posted by Lesley Swann Sen. John Stevens After the tie vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 27, SB 250 remains stuck in that committee. It is still alive, but won’t move unless Tennesseans mobilize to get it dislodged for a second committee vote. Watch the full committee meeting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbcm5Uy0iTc SB 250 is a bill that is critical to protecting the firearms rights of Tennesseans against a federal gun control scheme. The key to bringing the bill up for a second vote is Sen. John Stevens. He was one of the “nay†votes on the bill, but we need to pressure him specifically to support bringing the bill for a second vote. Please contact him now to encourage him to support a second vote on SB 250, as well as to change his vote to “yea.†Phone calls will have much more impact than emails, but do both if you can. Remember to be polite but firm in your communications with Sen. Stevens’ office. Sen. John Stevens: Republican, District 24 310A WMB, (615) 741-4576, sen.john.stevens@capitol.tn.gov We are also counting on continued support from these Senators who supported the bill in committee. Thank them for their support of SB 250 and encourage them to continue their support by doing what they can to get the bill up for a second vote. Remember that these senators are friendly to our cause, so please be courteous. Sen. Mike Bell: Republican, District 9 6A LP, (615) 741-1946, sen.mike.bell@capitol.tn.gov Sen. This story just made my day! If Mark Giffords focus was on preventing the mentally ill from acquiring weapons, I could respect that. After all, that is what ultimately lead to his wife's shooting. Its his overstepping by favoring gun restriction for the law abiding citizen which really chaps my behind. He kept using the "we own glocks" line to make him seem like a gun owner in favor of responsible control. That's total b.s. At least choose a frickin side and stick with it. Now he has been exposed as a total hypocrite. Oh and I love the angle about exposing how easy it is to purchase an AR, and he's turning over a legal weapon to the police. It reminds me of the band member from The Who, who was caught with child pornography on his computer. His defense? I was researching how easy it is to find kiddie porn on the internet, and planned on turning it over to the police.1 point

Well, I guess I'll be the lone dissenter and take on the collective rage of everyone else. First, we don't actually know what was taught in that classroom and it's far too easy to take the word of a pissed off parent who wasn't there and may be extremely intolerant of any exposure to other religions and cultures. It's not like it would be the first time when someone would exercise selective judgement and over-emphasize specific details in order to reflect their pre-existing worldview. Second, I have no problem with this exercise as long as it is taught in the proper context, and by that, I mean that they should show that for many in the Middle East, the social norms are considered sexist and intolerant. However, allowing students to voluntarily wear another culture's dress is not an issue to me at all. I also have no problem with them discussing the Islamic faith as long as it is taught in the proper context, which is to acknowledge that there are many variations of the Islamic faith and the Wahhabi perspective that has gained influence in the Middle East is quite intolerant of other religious and cultural ideas. I would hope that my children would be taught the importance of being tolerant and open to other ideas and cultures. Third, I strongly disagree that blaming US foreign policy for the rise of Wahhabism in the Middle East is "rewriting history," Rather, not acknowledging how the influence of western Europe and the United States has directly contributed to the rise of the Wahhabi faction and the Muslim Brotherhood is simply inaccurate and an act of collective denial. The West has dominated Middle Eastern politics and economics since WWI, and our desire for cheap oil led to decades of policy where we ignored human rights violations in the region committed by the ruling elites. The people there largely resent western influence, and have been subjected to the influence of Wahhabi Islam, which has been taught in schools and churches and written into their legal code. In that region, the population definitely sees the Muslim Brotherhood as freedom fighters because they are trying to break free from the influence of western society. I don't see this as a good thing, because the underlying philosophy of that movement is intolerance rather than democracy. Whether we like it or not, the US foreign policy is partly to blame for what we are dealing with in the Middle East. And finally, there's this: OK, and? We live in a country that is dominated by Christianity. If they didn't talk "in-depth" about Islam during that class, where exactly would they get any sort of outside perspective on the religion? Why is it a bad thing to discuss other religions in the world, especially when we have so many people who believe that terrorism and our nation's security is the result of religion-based conflict? This statement smacks of pure closed-mindedness and is exactly what education is supposed to combat.1 point
