Thank God there are only white people on those targets. Anything else would have been offensive and racist.11 points

I'm sorry, but the title of your post seems to imply that there was a time in recent memory when the Republicans WEREN'T weak-kneed. They're just as bought and paid for as the Democrats. They share one common goal: get reelected. That's the only thing that interests any of them. The current compromise is just another example of how they allow the Democrats to control the message and are forced to "compromise," or as anyone with any sense would call it, buckle.8 points

So buy up billions of rounds of ammo, increase the number of ABC agencies who have access to weapons, then buy targets to desensitize agents in training. Where are we heading here?5 points

IMHO, David, you need to add one more clarifying rule regarding selling: if offering for cash, price must be stated. Seeing too many "make me a cash offer" ads. Even in threads that are listed as "trade", some devolve into that. These are de facto auctions when it gets to that point. Maybe a small nit, but now and then I see something I want, but I don't think it's the intent of the forum to have to "bid" by sending multiple PMs to try and score it. - OS4 points

I'm about tired of Mexico. I wish we could ship them to the Middle East and bring Isreal here. We could probably get some shit done then.4 points

I was making a quick run to the store today. I am a stay at home dad, so it means I had my 2 little ones with me. My daughter (2yo) was using an IPad to trace her ABC's. My son (1yo) was playing a matching game on my phone. They both were being very good and causing no problems at all. A lady, probably in her 40's, felt the need to give me a parenting lesson right there in the produce section. She let me know that sticking them in front of an electronic device was no better than not parenting at all. She continued to tell me that my style of parenting is what is wrong with this world. She also stated that if this is how I parent that my kid would be better off in a single parent home. That was when I lost it and yelled, that is the first time I lost my cool in front of my kids. I never swore at her and never called her names, i just told her that my kids are happy, healthy, and well taken care of and that she needed to mind her own buisness. I should have stopped there, but I did not. I continued to tell her that my kids have more manners than she does an I would not be surprised if they were smarter than her. As she stood there in shock, I told my kids to say good bye and started to push the cart away. Both my kids said good bye and waved. What happened next surprised me, 5-6 moms in the area started clapping, apparently they even heard what she said to me. I get comments about my parenting all the time from strangers all the time. I don't understand why people feel the need to give dads advice. I have seen moms blow cigarette smoke in a kids face without a peep from anyone, but tell me that I need to make sure that my kids are wearing hats even though it is 60+ degrees out. All the advice is followed by them telling my kids that it is ok that daddy didn't know.3 points

Due to the source of this inquiry, I am expecting that the story headlines will read: "TN background checks DO NOT WORK; 75% of applicants interviewed that were initially denied, were allowed to purchase a gun/get permit anyways" It is not going to be a gun friendly article3 points

we need to vote out both parties. but the problem is that the common man does not have the money to run for office.3 points
-
You could be right about the DHS training ground, I don't know. I hope you're wrong. But I don't think the answer is to flee. We need to dig in and fight everywhere, not just where the gun laws aren't as bad as New York, Illinois, and California. We need to fight for our constitutional rights especially in those place where they are in the greatest jeopardy. And in places like Tennessee where at least we can buy our rights from our generous government we need to fight to be able to exercise our rights for free and not be forced to prove we aren't criminals in order to do so.3 points

I agree. The problem is that the vast majority of the ruling elite (i.e. politicians from BOTH parties) believe we mere civilians ARE ignorant, irresponsible and dangerous unless supervised AND controlled and that belief goes fare beyond firearms. Oh...there are a few elected officials of both parties that don't think that way but not many and their numbers are dwindling. Whether this compromise gains any traction or not, I have zero faith in our elected legislatures (state or federal) to do the right thing.3 points

I think the best way to fight this is with civil disobedience from New Yorkers. I just don't think that it will happen, since gun owners have abided by the law their whole life, they will likely continue to do so. I think that is what is driving us so mad, because we don't want to break the law and so we are taken advantage of by the left.3 points
-
Interesting and actually surprising. I thought one of the best quotes of the video was (paraphrasing) Good question. It is my belief that if a police department can purchase brand new selective fire guns, then so should law abiding civilians.3 points

Yeah but Mike, many conservatives are just as concerned about social issues as they are with fiscal issues, foreign policy and returning to the true constitutional republic our founders set up...I know that because I'm one of "those kind" of conservatives (although I'm not a Baptist, Primitive or otherwise. :) ). I'm not a prude but I do have strongly held beliefs about right and wrong and about such things as the right to life, what "marriage" actually means, and some of those other pesky social issues that, unfortunately, seem to drive segments of the people into the Democratic camp...I'm not going to ignore those beliefs just so we can get an "acceptable" Republican in office.3 points

I recieved this email from J&G sales today. ANNOUNCING A NEW J&G POLICY ON SHIPPING RESTRICTED ITEMSFor immediate release:As state and local jurisdictions are increasingly passing laws which infringe upon the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, J&G Sales is implementing a new policy on shipping restricted items to these states and localities.Effective immediately, laws that restrict firearms, ammunition, or magazine possession by law abiding citizens will also be applied to state and local law enforcement and government agencies in that jurisdiction. All residents will be treated equally. Honorable citizens, law enforcement personnel, and government agents, should all be allowed to utilize the most effective defensive equipment available.J&G believes that there should not be a difference between the rights of citizens and those of government employees. This new policy will also help us to be sure we avoid the consequences of not conforming with the anti-firearm regulations in these various jurisdictions. We expect to lose some revenue from government purchases, however we feel it is essential to defend the US Constitution by making a statement about the importance of the Second Amendment in maintaining our freedoms. We await the day when all law abiding citizens will be able to possess the most effective means and tools available for self-defense regardless of where they live or for whom they work.Thank you Looks like more companies are jumping on the band wagon, but I imagine that there will probably be enough other companies that don't join in that the government agencies will still get their evil guns and magazines, but these companies are at least taking a stand.2 points

Finally picked my DD up today. Order was delayed due to BCG being back ordered. My first impression is that this is an incredibly well made rifle with great attention to detail. Mine is also incredibly light, guessing 6 pounds or so unloaded. Can't wait to shoot it this weekend.2 points

He makes a good point when he says that the only realistic way for the federal government to track person to person firearms sales is through requiring all firearms to be logged in a federal registry. In that way, universal background checks are dangerous to everyone who owns or ever will own a gun. But this "universal background check" (UBC) that's being discussed has even more dire implications. We have been willing to surrender the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment a little at a time, when the reasoning behind doing so made some degree of sense. But now we're faced with a proposed measure that bears no logical relationship whatever to a reasonable purpose. And according to some recent polls, the majority of this Union is willing and eager to tread down the incredibly dangerous road of uniformly requiring citizens to pass a government investigation of their personal lives before those citizens are permitted to exercise a right that is expressly reserved to each citizen by the U.S. Constitution. If the American people agree to this proposed UBC nonsense, then we will have set a precedent. Which other freedom will be next? It might be equally legitimate to allow police officers to search a house with no warrant - unless the homeowner has passed a background check. The exact same logic tells us that our government might require a man to pass a background check prior to writing a political opinion column for the local newspaper. If you took the time to read all this and don't understand what I mean or disagree, please post and say so. I think it's important that we think about the issue in these terms- not merely "I don't want more gun laws." I may be wrong, but I think "U-B-C" is just a new way to spell " tyranny."2 points

I believe the time may come, and sooner than we would have expected just a scant year or two ago, when those who value their rights are going to have to decide to take a stand and say "no more" and face the consequences or capitulate.2 points

EXCELLENT story. I am also applauding you as I write this. When my son was younger, he and I used to love inline skating. I would take him to the park and we would have a great time, making sure to wear safety gear. One day we went to a local park that had a paved track, and he asked me if he had to wear his helmet since he saw several others without them. SInce his skill level was advanced, I said OK, as long as he wasn't trying fancy tricks and showing off. We happened to pass two ladies who were walking the other direction, and one of them glowered at him and said in a really nasty voice "WHERE'S YOUR HELMET???", to which he calmly said "It's in the car". Then she gave me a particularly nasty look, and said "HE NEEDS A HELMET!!". I just stared at her and said "You should really mind your own business". She walked off in a huff with her companion and I just smiled at my son, and he smiled back at me, and we enjoyed the rest of our day.2 points

This is the reason I haven't been to the range in a while. Too bad too because I used to enjoy it. Once I get some ammo though I plan on transitioning to IDPA. I think I will get better use of my ammo AND be around folks who won't shoot me.1 point

From the article this sounds like it went badly for the teen, but was handled appropriately by the police. I firmly believe if you break into someone's house, you should be willing accept whatever consequences occur in the moment and should have no ability to sue in the aftermath.1 point
