Actually I'd prefer not to say for 3 reasons. The first being I don't know what the companies exact policy on posting in public forums as an unofficial representative of the company. Second I don't really care to be bombarded with PMs and emails about certain products. Mainly because I am not an official spokes person of the company (we have a guy that handles web advertisement, etc.) Third, at some point I'm probably going to say (and probably already have) something inflammatory and I don't want someone emailing my boss and getting me fired. I hope you can understand and respect my reasoning.7 points

The Muslim will preach tolerance toward them, they will not show it to anyone. It is their plan to get the American people to be trained to have tolerance, that way we dont question what they are doing.4 points

It's the actions of Muslim countries, communities and individuals that causes one to form negative opinions of them. Not a target.4 points

http://soldiersystems.net/2013/02/08/larue-tactical-issues-new-sales-policy-for-state-and-local-agencies/ I wish others in the firearms industry would follow suit. While their statement is couched in not wanting to run afoul of the law, it seems like they're taking a stand. What's good for the goose is good for the gander!3 points

Hell, they use live targets, and we catch hell over a paper one!3 points

I'll add that when you talk of firing in Vietnam you need to realize that soldiers very often didn't see an enemy due to the dense undergrowth. The job was to repulse the enemy's ambush or attack with rapid and sustained fire. Volume counted, not necessarily accuracy like it was one on one or on a range. Most of the rounds didn't go over the jungle, they went into it as fast as possible until the other side stopped fiting or you ran out of ammo.3 points

I had a FTF with a business owner that has a gun buster sign on the door. First it started with him having to meet me outside his restaurant and me buying him lunch at another restaurant within walking distance of his. He seemed a little thrown off that I would even offer that. During our conversation he pulled out a business card that was handed to one of his door guys. The card was an IOU for $20.00 redeemable when this person is legally able to carry in his resturant. It said " I was intending on spending money at your business but you do not allow legal gun carry. This is an IOU for $20 redeemable as soon as the gun buster sign comes down and I can legally carry in your business." It also left contact info for that person. I have never seen this before and apparently it got his attention. I think i might make up some of these cards. He said he contacted me because of an email I sent him letting him know that I would answer any questions he has about why I will not spend any money at his restaurant. Also during that discussion I found out that he has never even held a firearm, and knew a buisness owner that was killed by a robber with a gun. It was a long lunch that seemed very productive. He is meeting me at the range next Friday. He said he is rethinking the gun buster, especially after I asked him to point out where my gun was and he could not. I told him that most people are not OC'ing, they want it to go unnoticed. I will update after we meetup next week.2 points

TNDOS would be wise to not use that one again for a long while... Too many eyes watching them over the Yeager HCP squabble... They start going after otherwise law abiding citizens who make a simple mistake with life time bans, they'll likely have the law changed in short order. And lets be clear, this is a simple mistake... There are a lot of members of this very board that don't totally understand all the TN firearm laws... it's very easy to see somebody being honestly confused over when you can or can't have a loaded long gun with an HCP. He could also argue he understood 39-17-1308a4 (otherwise lawful activity) to include protesting for his 2nd Amendment rights :) And why is it the legislature bans long gun carry? How does this guy pose a more serious risk to the public than an ar pistol or any other pistol? Maybe it's time we start pushing the legislature to lift the ban on long gun carry?2 points

My problem is, I don't ever get rid of anything. I go through phases, but most importantly I appreciate all quality firearms, and just can not justify getting rid of anything. I made a promise to myself years ago, to buy at minimum one gun per year. Problem, I always exceed the at minimum requirement.2 points

So I finally got my Archangel stock (Valentines Present) on my Ruger mini 30, and decided to get some pictures of it, my 1911 and my pack together. My sister is taking a photography class, so she did the pictures for the practice. I'm loving the new stock on the rifle. Anyways let me know what you think2 points

There seem to be some folks who feel that they have some sort of obligation to set the police "right" to the extent of doing so at the side of the road or on a sidewalk...I don't know if it's some natural mistrust of police or if it comes from past bad experience or a misguided belief that it proves that the civilian values his freedom and independence more than the next guy if he argues with or corrects the officer(s) when he has an encounter with a LEO that may not, in the opinion of the civilian, know the law correctly. I do agree with the prior statement that in general, one should never give consent to search (and there are a good reasons why you shouldn't)...the police may search anyway but that's not the point. I agree that LEOs make mistakes on the law and that should be taken up with supervisors later but you absolutely can be charged with a crime that doesn't exist or that the citizen thinks doesn't exist - if the police actually make a mistake and arrest you for something that actually isn't a crime or they conduct an illegal search or make other mistakes, that should be dealt with in a courtroom, not out on the street. As far as I can tell, the OP's friend did nothing wrong...it appears he was carrying openly (or concealed very poorly)...the officers also did nothing wrong by stopping him since, without an HCP, it is illegal to carry a weapon in public (openly or concealed) in TN...as far as I know, police can and often will run the SN or a firearm (VIN numbers on a vehicle, etc.) and they have the legal right to do so...I can't see that the police did anything wrong here save for their mistaken instructions about carrying a round in the chamber and I hope the OP's friend takes it up with those officer's supervisors. Other than that one mistake by the officers, this whole thread seems much ado about very little.2 points

You dont consent to a search or consent to having the serial number run on anything you own, just like you dont talk to the cops when they arrest or accuse you of a crime. Its not about hiding something, its about protecting yourself.2 points

Have you read his “manifesto Let’s say everything he claims is true. Do good cops get railroaded? Yes they do, just like innocent people go to prison. Do they go on a rampage and start killing the children of the people that railroaded them? Of course they don’t. Do we know what happened in that hearing? No, we have one side… his. Will we know? Probably, I assume the media is trying to get the transcripts. Will it change anything? No. “The people who fear him†are civilians; cops don’t fear him anymore than any other murdering thug. They are hunting him and they will find him. And if they have to kill him they will be accused of murdering him. As best I can tell this guy was a cop for about a year and a half? He attacked two cops because he claimed they called someone a N*****. He does not deny that he attacked them and choked one of them before other Officers broke it up. Is that someone you think should be a cop on the street? He should have been gone right then. He follows that up by saying “What I should have done, was put a Winchester Ranger SXT 9mm 147 grain bullet in his skull and Officer XXXX’s skull. The Situation would have been resolved effective, immediately.†Yes, LAPD certainly made an error in that case didn’t they? Do you hate bad cops? Read his manifesto and you will see that this guy was one before that hearing or the event leading up to it ever took place.2 points

IMHO the NRA could find a better face and voice than LaPierre. He is not inspirational at all, I find him to be a very poor speaker who often comes off as unprepared. As for supporting the NRA I think we all support what they do, probably not with dollar bills though. Even as important as the NRA is,if it comes down to sending money to them or paying for groceries, gasoline and electricity I am pretty sure where the money is going to go. In a perfect world there would be enough money in my wallet to all for all four items, sadly there is not. And to be very clear I do not endorse giving up the fight.2 points

I like my squirrel cooked with dumplings. The following recipe is killer and "those" folks who swear they don't like skwerls, will never know what hit them when they eat this stuff. You can sit back and snicker when it's all said and done! And have a "cold one" on me! 2-4 Squirrels (dead) and cleaned very well to insure all hair is cleaned away. 1 stalk of celery thinly sliced 2 carrots thinly sliced 1 can Cream of Celery soup 1 can of Cream of Chicken soup 1 can of Chicken Broth Water 10-12 cups (enough to completely cover squirrels. adjust as needed) 1 table spoon ground sage 2 packs of frozen dumplings (you can also make your own or use canned biscuits) Salt and Pepper to taste 1. Place chicken broth, squirrels, water and sage into a 4 quart or larger pot. Bring to a boil, lower heat to medium/low cover and allow to simmer for about 45 minute to an hour or until the squirrels are tender. 2. When squirrels are tender, remove squirrels and allow to cool. Save contents of pot. 3. While the squirrels are cooling, add diced celery, carrots and both cans of soup to the pot. Allow to gently simmer uncovered. 4. When the squirrels are cool enough to handle, pull all meat from the bones. Return the meat to the pot and chunk the bones and shot into the trask can, unless you collect weird stuff of course.. 5. Bring contents of pot to a boil. 6. Using homemade dumplings (my preference, good recipes on the web) Canned Biscuits or Frozen Dumplings, Drop dumplings into boiling broth and cook until done. If using canned biscuits, pinch off bits of biscuits and drop into broth. Homemade dumplings can be rolled out very thin, cut into strips and dropped into the broth, or dropped by the spoonfull. When all dumplings are in the pot, reduce heat to medium and cook for about 15 mins, stirring occasionaly to avoid stick. Serve, salt and pepper to taste. This is one of my favorite "Deer camp" recipes cooked over an open fire. It is also great cooked at home in a civilized kitchen! Ya'll please enjoy! Dave S2 points

I think a lot of gun owners had their wool blinders on and saw BHO as no big threat to the 2A. There's no denying the left's position on guns now, and I hope a lot of eyes have been opened as a result. I'm not saying that I'm counting on that, but I can still hope.2 points

What you must understand is gun owners have nothing to gain in the never ending game of "compromise". We will lose every time. Giving up one thing for the sake of another is not good. Eventually you will have nothing. The way this country works now is just about anyone can make some kind of complaint and somebody else has to give something up to shut them up. That is not right.2 points

NO MORE! My 2nd Amendment rights are not open for compromise. No more talk, what part of no don't they understand. Washington needs an enema to flush the crap out. This whole bunch needs to go.2 points

The wife and I just ordered a pair of re curve bows because she is interested in getting into archery. I have always shot a compound and must say the re curve humbles me a bit in the store. I haven't received the yet and have only shot maybe ten arrows on one in the store but I must say it was exciting. The feel of it all was much more involved than a compound and I was hooked. Does anyone on here shoot a recurve and have any advice to offer up to a new shooter? If you are curious we both ordered the Samick Sage bow. Her's at 30 lbs mine at 45.1 point

Magazine capacity is just not an issue in my home. Home invaders will be facing 1 of 2 870's (1 by the bed, the other hid in the living room....I'm old with bad legs and back so I can't run to fetch a gun.) each loaded with 8 rounds of buckshot guided to their mark by a red dot laser mounted to the rail. I pray I never have to use either one. But I'd rather be prepared and not need one, as need one and not be prepared. I've hunted all my life and can cycle a pump with the best of them.1 point

I just lay prone on my bed with the window open, when I hear the acorns hitting the roof of my car I wait about 60 seconds for them to come down the tree to retrieve them. Once you get the first the rest are fairly easy. I haven't found a good method for the moles and rabbits. . . yet.1 point

Obviously this guy is a left wing wacko. He wants to destroy our rights on the way out. I hope they get him before he hurts anyone else. He has a face book page and the sickos on the left actually support him. They are the ones who need a psychological evaluation. Do you ever get the impression that the inmates (aka politicians) are in charge of the asylum? .1 point

I haven't hunted in a long time but I generally stood still and listened. They will make noise and when you hear it slowly walk in. If they quit making the noise and hide just take a seat and they will come back out in 10-15 minutes. Something else that happens is if you shoot one and it drops to the ground and flops some the other dquirrels will come and investigate. It also helps to know where the nut trees are because they will congregate there. If they aren't there then they are either travelling to or from a nut tree. If you manage to get a squirrel that is on one side and you are on the other but it keeps running around to the opposite brag a limb off the ground and toss it past the tree. When it hits the ground the squirrel will see or hear the movement and run around to your side. Doesn't always work but it works enough to make it worth tossing that stick. If you have a squirrel moving and it is hard to get a shot whistle like a hawk they the squirrel will generally freeze in its tracks. Dolomite1 point

Creating a spectacle for the media to focus on detracts from the whole point of the gathering. It is an injustice for those attending and everyone who could not but attend but supports the message that would actually like to be taken seriously. Events like this should be about swaying public opinion. Carrying AR's in public will not do that.1 point

No more compromises! Firearms enthusaists know what compromise means when it comes to the 2A. It means we get SCREWED!!! I'm tired of being screwed over by my representatives in Washington. If ANY of my representatives in either house votes for this, I will do everything in my power to make sure they get sent home the next election! I don't care who their opponent is!!!1 point

From your post we have no idea why the Officers stopped your friend, but yes, they can disarm him and there isn’t anything that stops them from running the numbers. They don’t need probable cause to stop him, only reasonable suspicion. You are asking “Can they do that?†To have any kind of intelligent discussion about that we would have to know the exact circumstances of the stop. If they told him that he couldn’t have a round in the chamber; they were wrong. I don’t want stopped by the cops for anything. Since carrying a gun in Tennessee is a crime unless you are part of our special group; I don’t open carry to gain their attention.1 point

Every time I start looking at solar, I am ok with the price of the panels. I find the real expense seems to be the batteries and the fact they would be an item you would have to plan to replace down the road. Plus I don't know how to determine how many batteries I would need. I like the above idea of building a system in steps, one 20a circuit at a time. I have been wanting some outside electric outlets and My outside building would be great to put a few panels on. Maybe I should start with that. I just don't know how much I can run off of a battery and inverter. Lets see Solar panels Charge controller to keep from over charging batteries as I understand Battery or Batteries(bank) required wiring Inverter to convert 12v DC to 120 AC. (example of one of the items I don't understand, 35AH 12v deep cycle batter) I understand the deep cycle part. No idea how much I could run off a battery like that. I just need to learn more.1 point

Great topic. Actually, this is a great time to consider your backyard garden setup for next year. Gardening has a learning curve indeed. It’s a lot more challenging than putting seeds in the ground, imho. We do raised beds. Building the soil, in my opinion, it the most beneficial thing a person can do. We have a compost pile and also do direct composting into the beds at this time of year. Steve Solomon’s Gardening When it Counts has been of immense value to us. We do strictly “organicâ€â€¦not because we’re dope smoking hippies, but simply because we consume enough chemicals through the processed foods we already eat. We’ve learned to can and dehydrate our vegetables for storage, and use them with regularity. It doesn’t take a lot of space to be fairly productive. I put up about 140 pints of tomatoes and 40 pints of asparagus beans from this past years garden, and due to the drought we had, it was more challenging than usual. We also eat out of the garden daily all summer long. And we most definitely use heirloom seeds, and save our seeds from year to year. Here’s a pic of our garden…I believe from 2011…but you get the idea.
