1. I got this gem this morning.  Some of you may remember the ad in question that we deleted.
I was grossly mistreated due to pricing concerns about 3 weeks ago by TGO Actual David. He deleted my listings and suspended my account over pricing on some AR mags. I was extremely upset with TGO more than you can imagine that a site like this would try to dictate pricing in a free economy. I received all kinds of nasty posts and people calling me names and so on. I also still have "warning points" on my account and a bad rep on the forum over this. I now see the pricing policy was reverted because it was not fair or appropriate for TGO to tell me what I can charge for MY items. I would like an apology from David and TGO for the way I was treated as well as removal of the warning points from my account.
Normally I don't make it a habit of sharing private correspondences but it's absolutely my prerogative to do so as I'm 1/2 of the conversation and the person did pretty much demand action be taken.  So this is my action and it'll be a cold day in Hell before I apologize for deleting the original posting of two Magpul PMags for $250.   The policy shift was not an acknowledgment that this guy was right.  It was an acknowledgement that the Staff here does not stand a reasonable chance of ensuring that no ads designed to GOUGE our members slip through unnoticed and an acknowledgement that the members should be left to decide what is reasonable and what is not by voting with their wallets.   But sending a report to me, demanding that I sit myself down and have a stern come to Jesus talk with myself and force myself to apologize probably will not yield the desired result.  I know myself pretty well and I'm fairly certain that I can say with authority that I won't be agreeable to those terms any more than the members here will be agreeable to the idea of paying $250 for two $15 PMags just because there's a shortage of them at the moment.   Maybe I'm wrong about that.  Maybe someone will.  Really don't care!  But I know I'm right about the fact that TGO David won't be making any apologies for deleting that thread or issuing much deserved warning points.   I know the guy pretty well and he's doesn't work like that.   :hat:

  2. This is so great, I can't tell you how great I think it is, it's so great. :) Lots of blurbs on the web here and there, but nowhere better than this in American Rifleman, so I just scanned the thing. And the priceless part is that Rahm "DeadFish" Emanuel had to sign some of the checks personally!! (click on pic to expand to full size to read it): - OS

  6. Of course owning a gun puts you automatically at higher risk for a gun related accident than someone who doesn't own one. That's like saying that I'm more at risk for a lawnmower accident than someone who lives in an apartment. However, lawnmowers aren't covered in the Constitution. The mere mention of a requirement of liability insurance in order to possess a firearm should be met with a "you're a effing moron look" and walk away because the person lacks basic reasoning skills.

  8. With this administration I have learned while watching this hand (The AWB), what is the other hand doing (Amnesty For Illegal Aliens). I don't think even mighty O thinks he can get the AWB past the house or at least I hope not. Seems to me while we are focused on the 2nd he is pushing for 11-20 million new democrat voters. Stay all over congress about the 2nd, but if you oppose amnesty watch the other hand. I feel like we are being played.

  11. Although it may be smart to do so to CYA I don't think in any way that it should be mandatory.  If people who own guns are required to buy insurance then people that own hammers or knives should be required to as well.  This is nothing more than a proposal from a bunch of scared, uneducated gun grabbers who are trying to control us.

  20. I had a FTF with a business owner that has a gun buster sign on the door. First it started with him having to meet me outside his restaurant and me buying him lunch at another restaurant within walking distance of his. He seemed a little thrown off that I would even offer that. During our conversation he pulled out a business card that was handed to one of his door guys. The card was an IOU for $20.00 redeemable when this person is legally able to carry in his resturant. It said " I was intending on spending money at your business but you do not allow legal gun carry. This is an IOU for $20 redeemable as soon as the gun buster sign comes down and I can legally carry in your business." It also left contact info for that person. I have never seen this before and apparently it got his attention. I think i might make up some of these cards. He said he contacted me because of an email I sent him letting him know that I would answer any questions he has about why I will not spend any money at his restaurant. Also during that discussion I found out that he has never even held a firearm, and knew a buisness owner that was killed by a robber with a gun. It was a long lunch that seemed very productive. He is meeting me at the range next Friday. He said he is rethinking the gun buster, especially after I asked him to point out where my gun was and he could not. I told him that most people are not OC'ing, they want it to go unnoticed. I will update after we meetup next week.

  25. If I don't end up using them for anything, I have a friend who has two ARs And I can give them to him for a Christmas or birthday gift. Either way, they will get used. I only bought two, and I am not going to put them on gun broker for twice what I paid for them either.

  26. I've shot plenty of glocks, but I own plenty of Sig's. the glock is an ugly, great working pistol that is accurate and has a bad grip angle, the sig cost more and is the best feeling pistol I've held. If you like the angle of the grip and the way it shoots, then why but anything else? Like I said, it's a great gun, but there are others. If you want some variety, get a sig, if you don't, buy more glocks... :). Just trying to stir the pot a little...

  29. Collect some of your dryer lint and put it in a ziplock bag.  That stuff lights great.  You can also go to Wally World and grab a couple fire starter sticks or pack in one of the smaller logs.  It's cheating but should work.  Strip bark off any wood you think is too wet and that sometimes helps too.
    1 point
  30.   Yeah, that was sorta parta of my poorly made point. No cheating involved.   If I had been smart enough to gamble a quarter or more my income through the years and come out way ahead, I could have paid a helluva lot less in taxes while making a helluva lot more money, too. Albeit on an, umm, slightly less grandiose scale. ;)   Begrudging someone who makes out like a bandit by obeying the law is un-American. Hell, it's worse than that, it's Democratic!   - OS

  31. I disagree with background checks, PERIOD!  They are a bad idea and worse than useless. 1)  Show me where background checks have reduced violence.  Some states have a 100% background check law.  Has it reduced crime?  No.  2)  How many folks have been denied on a NICS/TICS check for any reason, and then had it overturned on appeal?  I've never been convicted of anything, been an FFL, then C&R licensee, own machine guns, and have had Top Secret security clearances for many years.  I also am the only person in the US with my name.  Yet, I've been denied twice since 1995, and had to appeal it.  If this happens to me, what about the person who is truly in fear for her life who goes to buy a gun and gets denied?  This happens with alarming frequency. 3)  The NICS and TICS systems sometimes don't work.  These systems go down with alarming frequency.  again, do YOU want to make excuses when someone gets murdered because they cannot buy a gun when they need one? 4)  Background checks are registration.  Theoretically, ATF and other agencies are forbidden to retain this information.  They lie.  This information IS being retained, and when audits are performed, ATF and FBI have been caught red-handed.  And if you don't believe that registration leads to confiscation, you haven't been paying attention.  Katrina, California Assault Weapons, NYC, Illinois, Chicago, and now New York State have all turned registration into confiscation.   Just say 'NO"!

  36. I've had a few bad experiences at this place and with the owner. First was him telling me he'd get some prices on stuff and call me back. Didn't call back. I called again and he promised to call me back in the next 30 minutes, again never called back. Second time I was looking at trading in a AR and buying a pistol. Long story short he offered a price and then a few hours later went back on it. Also this is 100% my opinion, but I don't like the guy. Well I was in the store some regular people came in and he acted like their best bud, only to trash talk them after they walked out. I don't think he has to like everybody, but that's not the kinda guy I'd ever call a friend.

  40. FWIW, Suntrust has released a memorandum before saying branches were not to take action limiting the rights for customers and employees to be legally armed. However, employees are expected to give no resistance unless absolutely necessary in the event of a robbery. Essentially for employees it's a don't ask don't tell environment. Edit: there is a PDF file online stating employees are not to bring guns, explosives, knives, and etc. without permission. It's apparently not too important to them though because no one in the branches know of it.

  41. This story is a fake. Handguns are illegal in Chicago and therefore it is impossible that one was used.... again..... in the 600th-ish handgun related murder I Chicago in the past 13 months. Good thing the law abiding folks aren't allowed handguns to shoot criminals with. Can you imagine the mayhem if bullets were being fired back? At least the bullets are only going in one direction. Seems like they all got it under control up there.

  43. Agreed, Harwell, right now is the fly in the ointment.  I have looked at both bills as written that we can see, 108 and 118.  Both look good as far as I am concerned.  Reflecting on last year, among many factors, I feel part of the Safe Commute's demise was due to the fact that the Republican leaders did not want the Democrats stealing their thunder.  Both the bills, the Senate and House versions were sponsored by Democrats.    Ramsey also needs to be watched.  He definately had a hand in killing the bill last year.  Prior to this falls elections, he indicated that he was working on a version of Safe Commute for this year and wanted to get it passed and out of the way quickly in the session.  But we never saw a often promised draft of his bill.  Now we see it and in all fairness, with the exceptions of the Campfield amendments, in essence, it isn't all that different than what was proposed last year.  So I will ask the rhetorical question, if it was "bad" last year, why is it "good" this year.  I am like Worriedman, there has to be another shoe ready to drop somewhere.  He stabbed us in the back last year and we all have heard the expression about fooling me once.   When Ramsey alluded to a bill that be acceptable to all concerned, I was very worried that it would be a bill that had a lot of exemptions for large businesses with fenced lots.  That would make the bill unacceptable to me and I would have to oppose it.    I can only hope that with these bills being sponsored by Republicans, and particularly the Lt. Governor, they will have less resistance this year.

  48.   No, that's a lot of bull from people who have never been in a self-defense shooting.  Remain armed until the police get there and have control of the situation.  Do you want to be unarmed if the person you just defended yourself against has friends, family, accomplices nearby who are unhappy about you doing what you just did?   Nope.  Remain armed.  Disarm when instructed by the police.   Edited to add:  I often see comments from folks saying they're not going to throw their nice Nighthawk 1911 or whatever on the ground when the police get there because it's too nice / pretty / expensive.  When the police are arriving, holster your firearm before they get out of their car.  Hands up and wait for instruction.  If they tell you to unholster and throw it to the ground, throw it to the ground.  If they tell you to lay it on the ground slowly, do it slowly.  If they tell you to tap dance and pat your belly at the same time, do that too.   Bottom line being, your stupid high-end boutique firearm isn't worth you getting shot over.  If it's so concerning that your gun might get scratched, don't carry it.  If you think it  might go off when dropped or tossed to the pavement, don't carry it.  Good guns don't go off when dropped.   Do whatever the nice police officers tell you to do, following their instructions to the letter, and keep your mouth shut until asked to speak.  And even then limit what you say.  You were in fear for your life, that guy over there in a pile is the guy who attacked you, and you'll be GLAD to cooperate with the police after your attorney is present.  You are in no state of mind to say anything else without your attorney present.  Period.   Establish that you're the good guy, point out the bad guy, point out the knife or gun or ball bat or chain or axe or whatever he was about to attack you with, and then shut your hole.
