lol... you guys saying this article is just "feel good propaganda" need to consider the White House press office document that I posted in the other thread and how it lines up with this story. That document had an embargo on it preventing it from being distributed until the President started his speech this morning. It was not to be distributed until he began his talking points. Clearly what he said and what the document outlines are shades apart from each other. The document outlines what he wants; what he said was a watered down version. Don't assume the Administration won't be trying to push ahead. The speech today was simple slight of hand. A diversionary tactic meant to get us to let our guard down. You saw evidence of it on TGO initially when people were saying, "Oh well - that wasn't so bad. He didn't say anything that we already didn't know about." Like I said earlier; if you think the 21 or 23 points are what he had in mind, dream on. There's more. That was the tip of the iceberg and his handlers knew better than to let their man show his hand while they're facing strong opposition from our side. They're hoping we forget and become complacent again once the guns and ammo start showing back up in the stores, and then they'll let loose with a surprise left hook while we're not watching. Be smarter than that, folks. Remain vigilant.8 points

That's exactly the thing. This list represents the current Administration's effort to throw it all at the wall (Congress) and see what sticks. This is their wish list. They know some of it won't go through, and they will use those bits as bargaining pieces to get the more important things passed. The goal for us should be to put so much pressure on our representatives that none of it sticks. None of it passes. So much pressure that in four years, Obama and his cronies will have to pack up their toys and GTF home all sad and dejected. A lot of folks here love their Gadsden flags. They love the story of the 300 Spartans at Thermopylae. They love the challenge to "Come and Take" (Molon Labe). Well, this is your MOLON LABE moment, people. Now's when you start cranking up the pressure and let it be known that you don't want the people who work for you in Washington to give a single inch on this stuff.5 points

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/01/16/andrea-mitchell-argues-govt-can-infringe-upon-americans-inalienable-rights-hear-pro-gun-advocates-epic-response/ The claim may seem outrageous, but here’s how Mitchell defended her stance after her guest claimed the Obama administration can’t infringe upon Americans’ inalienable rights: “Well, they can be infringed, because the First Amendment is infringed, I have to obey all sorts of regulations from the FCC, there are things we can’t say in a crowded theater, so every right also carries with it responsibilities and obligations.†In response, Eric Pratt, of Gun Owners for America, provided a well thought out analogy that seemingly dismantled Mitchell’s argument. “What’s interesting about that, though, is we don’t gag people before they go into the theater, we punish the lawbreakers,†he said. “And in the same way, we would argue punish those who abuse the right, but don’t gag law-abiding citizens before they exercise their right. We shouldn’t be registering them like sex offenders, like they are in New York. We shouldn’t be in any way impeding them if they have not committed a crime.â€4 points

I am now the official Tennessee state organizer for Guns Across America. If you have questions please let me know. I can tell you that this will be a great event. I just spent 3 hours on a conference call with the organizers in the other 49 states, along with the national organizers. I have speakers being lined up right now and I am working on more. There is a Right to Life rally at the Capitol building, so we will be assembling across the street at the War Memorial. I have obtained permission from the people at Legislative Plaza, so we are good to go. This is a public rally, so they have informed me that we do not need a permit or anything. I urge people to dress somewhat nice and to not have a rifle on your back. We do not need to feed the media stereotyping of gun owners. Bring a sign too, but please make sure all the wording is spelled correctly. Also, do not write any derogatory things on the signs. The media WILL be there. Please do not accept an interview unless you are prepared to do so. Also, in the event that an anti-gun person tries to start a confrontation please WALK AWAY. Thanks everyone!4 points

I'm afraid I agree with David on this one. I don't understand how some of you can outright dismiss this like it couldn't happen. It happens all the time. Gun owners around the nation - millions of us - were very nervous about what was going to happen. Hell, even our Republican representatives in the gun friendly state of TN wouldn't go on record saying they were going to support the 2nd Amendment. So what do you think Republicans, and especially Democrats, in states like California, Illinois, New York, and New Jersey were saying? Luckily however the NRA is an extremely powerful lobbying organization thanks to those of us who are members. They certainly were telling every Congressman and Senator who would listen that they would be "gunning" for them - if you'll pardon the pun - if they supported the President's gun-grabbing efforts. And you think that has no effect on how they vote? Sorry, but it has an effect, like it or not. I'm not saying this article is the Gospel. I'm just saying it is entirely plausible, especially given Obama's stance on guns. If you don't know that he would outright ban just about every gun we own if given half the chance you're part of the problem. Complacency is what they hope for. If we had been complacent during the last month and hadn't been contacting our representatives demanding they uphold the Constitution there is a very good chance his speech and calls for legislation would have been much more scary.3 points

Meh. You come to a public forum to boast about potentially unethical activities (and also boasting that your employer could care less), you should expect some sort of fallout. Anything else is naive. This is the internet. EVERYTHING is public. TMF even warned him what could happen. He chose to ignore it and plod on. He reaped what he sowed. Then he blames everyone but himself. Some might call that a character flaw. I guess, regardless of what we say, his company took a dim view on his (mis)use of an employee discount.2 points

D3vo is now a new lifetime member of the NRA (upgraded from 5 year annual). Everything Will said is correct and let me add a few things. I called 1-877-NRA-2000 and the woman I spoke with told they had a $600 special. I looked at one of the other TGO threads and found 1-800-672-3888 option 3 and after waiting for 17 minutes spoke to an NRA representative. He explained they are having a lifetime membership offering until February 28, 2013 for $300. This is not a lifetime membership sponsor offer. You will not be asked for anyone's lifetime number.2 points

Folks... I am urging you... begging you... to do two things with your wallet right now. 1.) Join or renew with the NRA if you haven't already. 2.) Buy Ben Shapiro's book Bullies and read it. It discusses at length how the Left (and Obama particularly) used this network of "street thugs" to get out there and make a lot of noise, sway opinion, and get him elected. http://www.amazon.com/Bullies-Culture-Intimidation-Silences-Americans/dp/1476709998/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358449174&sr=8-1&keywords=shapiro+bullies Know your enemy!2 points

I think you have that backwards. White males are are NOT allowed to be offended. It's minority groups that have the right to be offended. I don't wanna start a race argument but it's politically incorrect to be a white male and speak out about what bothers you. ...unless of course you are disabled, on welfare and food stamps and a registered democrat.2 points

No, it is still "your". My point is that your letter will garner more attention, and a more favorable response if it sounds like you have more than a third grade education. I couldn't care less about grammar and spelling on a forum, but if I am going to send something to an elected official that I want to be taken seriously, I would type it in word and use the free grammar and spelling checks. Its not perfect, but it helps. Also, putting several periods in between sentences doesn't make it sound more serious, it makes it read like a teenager writing a text message to their friends. I understand your sentiment, I'm just saying that it would come across a lot better if it was more grammatically correct, and easier to read with less run on sentences and more proper punctuation. Just my :2cents:2 points

I doubt that will pass in MO. I read that some Reps in MO. were considering legislation like being proposed here and WY. and TX., threatening to arrest feds if they violate a persons constitutional rights. MO. has a history of being pretty much divided between red and blue, or blue and grey back in 1860. I do totally understand your anger, i'm getting more and more pi$$ed every day, it's going to be hard to hold my civility very much longer trying not to offend the fence sitters. It will probably get to a point where I and many will have had enough of being Mr. Nice guy and get real nasty with these sanctimonious, self-rightous little Bolsheviks.2 points

She kept trying to redirect the conversation when she got an answer she didn't like. This is what these people do - they have talking points that they trot out, trying to throw us off balance, when they are given a sensible answer. They simply are parrots who can't think for themselves. They rely on emotion and hyperbole because they have no facts or evidence to support their ridiculous notions.2 points

We need more level headed and well informed people, like the Pratt family, in elected positions to represent us. When I say us I don't mean us as gun owners I mean each and every American citizen! We need more people with COMMON SENSE!2 points

So my wife and I were lying in bed watching television before dozing off. Then at 11:40 there came a knock at the door. Knowing no one should be knocking on our door at this time I grabbed a flashlight, my 1911 and went to see who it was. My gut feeling was that it was either my meth head brother or one of my parents seeking refuge from my brother. I made sure to leave the interior of the house completely dark while I made my way to the front door. I stood to the side of the door holding the gun behind my leg, out of view, then flipped the light on to our porch. There stood a man who was soaking wet and seemed a bit off. I didn’t open the door and spoke to him through the door. Not sure if he could see where I was or not because it was dark inside and bright outside. He said he wanted to come in and I asked why. He said he was a Medal of Honor recipient and he needed in. My wife told him to get off the porch and that she was going to call the cops if he didn’t get off the porch. He didn’t leave and kept saying he needed to come in because he was a Medal of Honor recipient. I told him no and that he needed to leave. He refused and at that point told my wife to call 911. As my wife called 911 she made sure to stay out of sight of the guy but within ear shot of me. I asked the guy if he was OK and he said he needed in our house. He seemed a bit more agitated and began to put his hands on the door as if he was going to try to get in. When he did that I got louder and more demanding with him telling him to leave now. The dogs were going crazy the entire time until the second my voice changed at which time our dogs quit barking because they knew things were serious. He continued to argue about coming in as well as continuing to act like he was going to try to try to get in. That is when I moved my 1911 from behind my leg to the front of my body in plain view. I didn’t point it at him but made it painfully obvious I had a gun. At which point he seemed to change his demeanor and raised his hands up instantaneously. After the fact my wife thought it was comical how quickly his hands went up. But even with the change of demeanor he said several more times that he was a Medal of Honor recipient and needed in but after a few moments he said he was leaving. I watched him walk down my driveway, get into a vehicle and drive off heading up our dead end road. At this point my wife handed me the phone and I gave 911 a description as well as tell them he entered a vehicle and which way he was heading. I waited about 5 minutes then stepped outside with a flashlight and 1911 to start clearing the outside of our home as my wife waited inside with her pistol and her phone. About 2 minutes after I started clearing the outside of the home LE showed up and stopped at the end of our drive. I went out to meet him and that is when I realized the guy drove 25 feet before he went off the road. The officer made contact with the guy and got his ID. It was at that point it was obvious the guy was drunk or high or both. The guy tossed his keys when the officer wasn’t watching but I told the officer he dropped something and he found the keys. That is a trick those who have had multiple DUI’s seem to use. As the officer was running the guy I asked him if he was Medal of Honor and he said yes. I asked his name and he told me. I looked it up on my phone and realized it was BS. I asked what he was, Army, Marines or what. His response was that he was Army. I asked his MOS (which is normally alphanumeric) and his response, and I quote, was “Army, Ranger, Air Force One, 3724†At that point I told him he was full of crap. Then he demanded I look it up again. Well after another officer showed up they gave him a field sobriety test which the guy failed miserably. The guy did say he wanted to join the Army to win the Medal of Honor and that is why he said what he did. He had no license because it had been revoked for previous DUI’s. The officers also said they were seizing his vehicle. I will say that I felt very concerned because the officers had no officer safety. The officers allowed him to reach in his pockets several times. He had a knife on him but didn’t admit it until the officers began a very poor pat down. They allowed the guy to go back to sit and rummage through his vehicle several times. And at one point they had their back turned to the guy. I even had an “OH crap†moment when the guy opened the door on his vehicle and a tree branch between him and I looked exactly like the guy was pointing a rifle at the officers. I got small and got ready then realized it was a branch. My wife and I stood in amazement at how lax the officers were around this guy. They didn’t even search him before placing him in handcuffs or in the car, only checking his pockets. We treat anyone who comes unannounced the same way. We have had instances in the past where people have used various excuses to try to gain access. We always great them in a stern manner then ask them to leave if they have no reason to be there. If they continue to argue or demand access we let them know we are calling 911, letting the dogs out or we present a firearm. Then we call LE with a description. I was an interesting night to say the least. The only thing I would have done differently was having my 1911 closer. I normally have it right next to me but I had been cleaning them so they were on a table between me and the door. I picked it up along the way but had the guy gained access immediately I would have had to go straight to a shotgun which is always by my side. And the other thing my wife and I talked about afterwards was letting the dogs out a side door when the guy refused to leave and tried to enter. And even more strange my wife had complained about feeling worried about something all day. Dolomite2 points

If I happened to know how to make alchol in a still, and do it without hassel, I would advise you to study up on it real good. Its not as important for fuel, but homemade liquor is an art form.
