We must remain vigilant. This is far from the end of the discussion, and it will not go away any time soon. We must keep pressure on our elected officials.7 points

That's exactly the thing. This list represents the current Administration's effort to throw it all at the wall (Congress) and see what sticks. This is their wish list. They know some of it won't go through, and they will use those bits as bargaining pieces to get the more important things passed. The goal for us should be to put so much pressure on our representatives that none of it sticks. None of it passes. So much pressure that in four years, Obama and his cronies will have to pack up their toys and GTF home all sad and dejected. A lot of folks here love their Gadsden flags. They love the story of the 300 Spartans at Thermopylae. They love the challenge to "Come and Take" (Molon Labe). Well, this is your MOLON LABE moment, people. Now's when you start cranking up the pressure and let it be known that you don't want the people who work for you in Washington to give a single inch on this stuff.6 points

NSFW WARNING... Those with delicate sensibilities who don't like boobs won't enjoy this video. They tried to censor it appropriately but... the little black bar had a hard time keeping up. Seriously, if that's you - don't press play. Don't do that and then even dare complain about the content. If you do that... if you prove that you're one of THOSE people who doesn't take time to read things on a forum.... I will ban you so fast you won't even have time to say "Titty Sprinkles" But if you ever read any of John Noveske's posts on the Internet, you know that this is exactly the kind of video he would have wanted posted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmD8eyy_lZo6 points

Sure they can. They can make private firearm sales illegal and then simply wait for you to get caught. People do illegal shit all the time now and the government is none the wiser because they don't get caught. But once you get caught, you face the consequences. Don't fool yourself and think that they wouldn't conduct stings to make sure that folks are playing by the new rules. They do it all the time with narcotics busts. Hell, the BATF has recently made the local news when they busted the doofus in Chattanooga who was SO stupid and SO brazen that he literally went out of his way to cross every successive line in the sand that the agents gave for him. He had a dozen opportunities to take an exit and likely avoid anything more serious than a slap on the wrist, and finally made it bad enough that they absolutely had to arrest him. People aren't the brightest of animals sometimes, and criminals are typically just flat stupid. Especially petty criminals. If they make it such that private sales are verboten, it won't take long for a bunch of bubbas to prove me right and give the government a chance to make examples of some folks. All it will take is a few front page stories about someone getting sent away for a 10 year stint for everyone else to get the idea that they aren't playing around. So, yeah... it's absolutely a do-able scenario. Our job is to prevent that kind of legislation from ever passing.5 points

This makes me wonder what's coming down the pipe as there's really no reason to remind FFLs on how to run background checks. The key words here being "for private sellers".
11. Nominate an ATF director.
No good can come that. He's not going to nominate someone who agrees with the rest of us5 points

The whole mental health thing really bugs me. I once read an article where some liberal psychiatrist said being into guns and spending time at a shooting range should be red flags. "Mental Health First Aid For Teacher"??? All these counselors....It's too easy to deem someone crazy and take their gun rights. And a whole lot of the things mentioned are very vague. Vague is never good when it comes to the gov't.4 points

I currently have this magazine for sale in the classifieds section, but I think this may be a little more fun. I will ship this magazine free of charge to the first person who posts a photo of himself posing with the USP 40 Compact, shirtless (unless you're a herself), and a sign that reads "TGO David is a sexy beast". Yep, it's as easy as that. I don't know for sure, but I believe this magazine may also fit an HK P2000. A photo with one of those will work just as well.4 points

Good point David about the Private Sellers comment. He said 40% of guns were sold this way...If you have no way to track private gun sales, HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT NUMBER?4 points

Interestin read. Thanks for posting it. I think the analysis is dead on target. This is the first time in my memory that Nobama acted like there wuz more than one branch of government. Evidently Reid and the real politians in the demorat party explained to him that this one wuz a looser and probably threatened to distance themselves from him or even openly oppose him if he stirred anything controversial up or tried any of the imperious law breakin stuff here. I seem to remember seein the other day that even the great "godfather" Rahm had come to washington. My guess is that he got over-ruled too. I think this is a big deal (...just as the analysis said...). It is the first time that the imperious Nobama has been taken to the woodshed by anybody from either party. This is a big deal and a big loss for him on a personal basis. Remember, Nobama is a "lame duck" president. More than that, he is the most polarizing president we have had in modern times. His imperious, overbearing, "smartest guy in the room" style is catching up with him. The first rule of politics is that you have to win elections (...a basic lesson the dammed republicans need to learn....). Nobama wont be running in anymore elections (....thank God....); and more and more folks are findin out what he really is. Thanks to all who have worked to make this happen. keep your powder dry. leroy2 points

I dunno. I'm not sure that I'm buying that piece. I have a feeling he did just what he had been planning on doing for some time. I don't doubt some tweaks had to be made here and there, but I don't get the feeling he was "rocked" by the opposition.2 points

I suspect I am like a lot of people, really busy with work and personal life. I try to pay attention to the political world and on occasion find issues that sound a chord with me so I get involved. This current gun rights issue being the immediate struggle. We may win this battle, but more likely, we will lose some ground. These politicians will take more from us, one more piece of freedom. I can't estimate how big or small the loss, but a loss non the less. And here we sit, powerless to the onslaught. Sure we can write our representatives, but that assumes they actually represent us. Yes we can assemble peacefully and show our solidarity with each other while standing up for our constitutional rights, and we should. I will be there Saturday. My representatives have been written. They know my thoughts. But honestly, really, do they ultimately care? And if they do, do they even have the ability to do anything about it? Where have all the good guys gone? I saw the news reports on Fast and Furious, or what little their was. It infuriated me to know that there are corrupt and evil men, who would blatantly sacrifice lives to meet their ideological ends, sitting in their ivory tower, making these decisions with impunity. Where is the political outrage? Why aren't we putting these people in jail? How is it that we have representatives who are not standing in Congress united together in demanding accountability and justice? I bring this up, because if there is any issue that demanded accountability, that was it. Constantly, some new atrocity is revealed. Some apparent incompetence or outright malicious act is discovered and then neatly swept away with no repercussions. Accountability is not to be had. We are just along for the ride. We are ultimately powerless. I've heard it said, don't hasten the day, and I don't. But... maybe it has to come crashing down before we Americans cast off this yoke of oppression and corruption. Sorry to be all gloomy. I guess I watched the wrong video this morning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFIpoL3jrfo2 points

The EO list seems to be mostly harmless. I am thinking these are not the problem. The fight will be elsewhere, and its coming, but this isnt it (?). I hate to break it to you kids but reagan is almost single handedly responsible for the mess in CA, esp the gun laws. He was another "you can have a bolt action rifle" type.2 points
I'm shocked that a company would be brave enough to make an "official" video that expresses their own values that are so audaciously noncompliant with "mainstream" values (in the realm of commercial PR).
I'm pretty sure that company could put out an official video with an employee eating a baby seal then playing cricket with a spotted owl and it wouldn't hurt their bottom line in the least. On another note, was anyone else craning their neck to try and see around the censor bar? I still do that instinctively.2 points

Closing "loopholes" as the antis want it will absolutely restrict my ability to buy sell and force me to be at the whim of a private business when it comes to that. Perhaps if it was done through your local LEO at no charge I wouldn't be so vehemently against it, but if they changed the law it would be an additional 50 bucks (or a lot more since gun stores could really stick it to you then) just to purchase an item. There has to be a responsible way we can restrict sales to felons without screwing over law abiding citizens, but the latter doesn't seem to be a concern.2 points

These scare me the most Trafficking and Dealer Licensing A permanent director for the ATF should be appointed and confirmed. ATF should be required to provide adequate resources to inspect and otherwise engage in oversight of federally licensed gun dealers. Restrictions imposed under the Firearm Owners Protections Act limiting ATF to one routine inspection of gun dealers per year should be repealed. Provisions of the Firearm Owners Protection Act raising the evidentiary standard for prosecuting dealers who make unlawful sales should be repealed. ATF should be granted authority to develop a range of sanctions for gun dealers who violate gun sales or other laws. The Protection of Lawful Commerce In Arms Act, providing gun dealers and manufacturers protection from tort liability, should be repealed. Federal restrictions on access to firearms trace data, other than for ongoing criminal investigations, should be repealed. Federal law mandating reporting of multiple sales of handguns should be expanded to include long guns. Adequate penalties are needed for violations of the above provisions.1 point
