God I hope there isn't a revolution in my lifetime, cause I'd lose my mind trying to organize and train so many Rambo yahoos that have been looking forward to such an event. It'd be a challenge to fight the urge to choke the s*** out of them as they emerge from the relative safety of their mom's basement, donning all the tactical gear they scored at a gun show and then realizing that there is more to war than arguing with a 9 year old on XBOX Live over which is more reliable: a SCAR or an STG77, while neither sees the obvious flaw in their respective arguments which is that neither has ever held one let alone employed one in combat. Rant off.7 points

Kyle is the real deal. More importantly he's the real deal who also "gets it" as it pertains to civilian carry and self defense. I won't begrudge anyone a day of rolling around in the mud because it can be a lot of fun, but like I said it's incredibly impractical. I've started referring to the primary benefit of those classes as providing Retail War Stories for people who didn't sign up for the armed forces. You pay your money, throw on a lot of combat gear, bunk with strangers-turned-band-of-brothers for a weekend, bust a lot of caps, and come away with some "No shit... there I was putting rounds onto this tango 300 yds away while my buddies were closing in from the left flank" stories that you can tell at your boring ass job come Monday morning. If you're lucky, someone has a camera and the common sense to spot good photo-ops so you can post up a bunch of bad ass photos on Facebook. Bah, who am I kidding. Everyone has a camera. :)5 points

If the object is to make yourself more prepared to deal with likely situations you might face then you really need to train with the same kind of equipment and clothing you will likely be wearing when you have to use it for real. If the object is to have a fun "dude ranch " type experience then bring and wear whatever you like...it is your fantasy dress however you like. People ask me what to bring to pistol class. If it is a pistol class I tell them to bring what they really carry and wear what they really wear as THAT is what they will be using when they get jumped in a parking lot. People ask me what to bring to rifle classes. I ask them to do a SERIOUS assessment of their likely use of the rifle and then dress accordingly. Are they Mil guys? Bring your gear and wear it for the whole class. Police? Wear your vest and duty rig if you like. Civilian? Bring whatever you REALLY will use to carry mags. If that is one mag in the gun and a spare in your back pocket of your pants then good for you for training the way you are really going to be using it. Train as you will fight. Otherwise it is just tactical entertainment.4 points

What is boils down to is: The wife and I in total will be seeing 4% (2% each) less spending power each month. The Obummer army that lives off the government will go on as usual blissfully because they do not pay the taxes. The rich elite will find a few more loop holes and shelters so it will not impact them either. and congress welll... voted themselves a 3% raise. So, it boils down to the middle class, from the lower to the upper sections, get trampled again.4 points

Agreed. I've been brainstorming some ways we can do that via TGO. My requirement is that whatever we do, it must be constructive and put forward the best face possible. In other words, I'm not going to play into the hands of the antis by forming or encouraging the formation of "armed rallies" where a bunch of yahoos with rifles or handguns show up and scare the hell out of the part of society that doesn't really care one way or the other about firearms but still votes for or against the issues that affect them. I think this is perhaps the crucial point that a lot of the recent activism seems to be missing. There ARE people out there -- fence sitters, if you will -- who do not really have an opinion about firearms in general but still vote on issues that affect those of us who do care about the Second Amendment. Nothing polarizes the voting public like sensationalism, and nothing is as sensational as a bunch of rowdy, armed rednecks, toting signs about overthrowing Obama, hanging Senators and Congressmen for traitorous acts, etc. I'm sure that statement will rub some fur the wrong way here, but the truth hurts to hear sometimes and I'm getting pretty tired of the public judging all gun owners by the appearances and actions of a small subset of the "gun culture". What needs to happen is for the voting public to understand that their family physician, their pastor, the cute little unassuming soccer mom next door with a minivan full of children, the lady who cuts their hair, the guy who bags their groceries, the nice man who delivers their milk... all of those people are gun owners and many of them carry for their own self-defense. Sadly the media is always going to seek out the one wild-eyed Bubba dressed in military garb, with a Gadsden flag on a pole, and a Glock on his hip, and take HIS photo and run it on the front page of the newspaper and as the highlight reel for the 10pm news and claim he's what gun owners look like. The answer is to not be that guy and not have that guy at your rally. But gun owners aren't willing to play by the rules set forth by the antis so we keep losing the PR battle.4 points

I suppose the rest of us are not as perceptive as you and DaveTN, as I don't pick up on these threats of "violent overthrow". According to you guys, anyone who says "if a gang of burglars breaks into my house while I and my wife and children are sleeping, they will be met with deadly force if necessary to protect my family", that statement equates to "I'm going to go out and find someone who looks like they might break into my house and kill them before they even think of breaking in to my house." The ONLY thing that I have read people saying is that "if some entity comes (to me, my home, my location) with the intent to forcefully disposes me of an object guaranteed me by a specific amendment in the U.S. Constitution meant specifically for the resistence of such an act, I will resist and continue to resist to the degree necessary until the aggression against me ceases." No one is saying that they are the ones who intend to go forth and purport aggression against the govt. or any other entity, all conversations that I am aware of are defensive in posture, NOT offensive. If you feel that you must leave, I am sorry that you feel that way. No one is advocating what you perhaps mistakenly think.3 points

I don't know why anyone still does business with Bank of America. It's not just their anti gun stance. Have they left any shadow of doubt in anyone's mind that they have total disregard for their customers by expecting them to bend over and take anything they dish out? Seriously. Why does anyone still do business with Bank of America. Get your money out of there.3 points

Having been in situations where I was not shooting after analyzing the situation and the next to me was popping off rounds at a non threat, I think this guy did a great job showing restraint. He knew that his life was not in danger and that showing his weapon was enough to end the situation. He used the principles of escalation of force without even knowing it. Good job on putting the value of life over his own pride and anger!3 points

The majority of Americans would not need to revolt to cause a massive revolution. Even if just a very small percentage took up arms the government would be overwhelmed. Here's an interesting fact from America's past........ * During the Revolutionary War, only THREE percent of the people actually fought against Great Britain. * Only TEN percent of the citizens actively supported that three percent. * Approximately TWENTY percent considered themselves to be on the side of the Revolution, but they did not actively participate. * Toward the climactic end of the war, approximately THIRTY percent actually fought on the side of the British. * The rest of the citizens had no disposition either way. They didn’t care. They didn’t want anything to do with what they deemed to simply be a political issue. The sanctity, liberty, and freedoms of this nation were brought about by the unselfish, honorable, patriotic, committed, and determined acts of a mere 3%. This three percent didn’t let the comforts of life blind them to the eternal significance of freedom. They didn’t allow evil speaking to sway what their heart told them was true. They didn’t postpone their actions for a more convenient time. They didn’t value their own life over the life and liberty of their fellow citizens. In many cases, they sealed their testimony of Freedom, Liberty, and Choice with their blood and the blood of their families. Although it was only three percent, it was still sufficient to create a nation which was to be an example to all the rest of the world of a truly free republic. This three percent laid the foundation of the most powerful and prosperous nation on the earth. This valiant three percent manifested to the entire nation, and surely even the world, the unalienable value of hope, faith, family, virtue and freedom.3 points

It certainly provides an avenue for it but it shouldn't EVER be necessary. There's HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of weapons in the hands of the people. The Feds should cower in fear of that knowledge. They don't. Why? Because they have doped the country with an apathetic sedative. For Superntural fans, think Turducken sandwich. They've fed the country so much of it we are all docile cattle and any who try to break free from it are easily portrayed as domestic terrorists and the sheeple nod in agreement readily. We will never see organization or revolution until its all but too late. The price will be so incredibly high. You can talk about all this and get lots of people to agree, then try to get something going and what happens? ...welllllll, I would like to but I got to be to work in the morning, the wife has her yoga class and the kids have a softball game tomorrow. I'd love to help save the country but the wife says its not a good idea. American idol is coming on tonight. ....the BS goes on and nothing ever changes. It never will until things are all but destitute. The Amerikan sheeple are lazy fatazzes who aren't going to do squat. Disagree? Prove me wrong! I'll be happy to eat crow.3 points

Evidentally there are some groups who have started an anti NRA campaigns http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/dec/20/anti-nra-hotel-chains-discounts What we, as gun owners, need to do is take a play from their playbook. How about as Anti Brady campaign among gun owners? It was their push for policy changes that lead to all the gun free zones. And those gun free zones are resulting in people being left defenseless and getting killed. I know from now on I am going to openly blame the Brady Campaign for the recent mass killings. Fair is fair. Dolomite2 points

Along with several others I left an encouraging message there along with that of the antis. I encourage others to do the same.
I worked for Target a long time and every year there's a toy for Christmas that's impossible to get. As employees we knew when new shipments would arrive. As long as you were off the clock you could buy them and do whatever you wanted. Some people put them on eBay or whatever. Too me it's not any different, that's a benefit of working there.
I doubt your old employer would agree. I recall that as an employee, using my employee discount to purchase items for resale was a firing offense. Even as a regular patron, it is still a d**k move to buy out all stock on something to create an artificial drought and cash in on it. What's going on right now with shortages has less to do with folks worried about buying up stuff in fear of a ban and more to do with folks clearing the shelves so they can make a profit off the situation. Those folks I would classify as first rate douche nozzles.2 points

Sooner or later someone with a HCP is going to get murdered on their way to or from the office, and their family members are going to sue the living shit out of the employer for prohibiting the deceased from being able to have their legally possessed handgun in the car at the time. When that happens, I hope the employer is bent over and their bank account is reamed out properly by the court system. That is the only way this is going to change. Until it does, we're all pissing in the wind with our hopes and dreams because TN's legislature isn't going to side with anyone other than the big tax payers. i.e. Corporations.1 point

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/marine-senator-won-give-guns-article-1.1233050 Senator Dianne Feinstein, I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government's right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma'am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one. I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America. I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man. I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public. We, the people, deserve better than you. The guy here was hit multiple times in the head and neck and required surgery to remove some of them. He could have lost his eyes, easily, and on top of that is the well known "soft spot" in the throat, the spinal cord/neck, and of course the *very important* arteries and veins in the neck as well. Whether he realized it or not, he was in serious danger of serious, permament harm. He was also in danger of incapacitation followed by murder. And the off chance of dying from the pellets, unlikely but very, very possible.1 point

If that's the whole article, my initial reaction is that it's above all quite brief - Brian, you wrote more here than there. :) Seems fairly balanced, and with the added video emphasis, might even be perceived to lean slightly "our" way if anything. Good non-biased wrap with the psychologist urging each side to understand the other. Would have liked to have seen at least a brief mention of the Constitution, though, and the real reason firearm ownership is specifically granted therein. Understanding that is the ultimate valid answer to "why does anyone need an AR-15". - OS1 point

I don't see a need for any training beyond marksmanship. I'm guessing here, but I'd say a majority of HCP holders are more interested in marksmanship than the average police officer. If you want to make the marksmanship test harder than the current HCP or police quals, fine by me. This isn't a job, or an extra duty. This is simply allowing those who want to lawfully carry. They need to identify a threat (He has a gun/knife/hammer and is threatening me/a student/a teacher) and do what it takes to negate the threat. Anybody who can't figure out this decision matrix shouldn't be allowed to teach children. Heck, they shouldn't be allowed to drive. This decision matrix is no more complicated than the one any HCP holder has to use, so why bugger it up? Keep it simple. For situations that are not an immediate threat, call the police. Don't try to turn teachers into cops; they don't need to be a police officer to recognize and react to a clear and present danger.1 point

I'll tell ya, I've got reservations about teachers with guns. However, while still on active duty a few years back, I took a bunch of educators on a tour of Air Force Basic Training and the other schools at Lackland Air Force Base. We visited the barracks, the dining halls, the military working dogs, the Security Forces School. At the Security Forces School, we had a FAST (Fire Arms Simulator Training) facility, a simulator with the high end video system and the compressed air powered M9 pistols, the works. We had the teachers up against the Security Forces professionals in a video active shooter scenario. The perpetrator with a knife was in the library with kids, and the scenario called for two security forces to respond in the library. In the video, the perpetrator grabbed one of the kids across the neck with the knife and shielded his body behind the kids, complete with screaming and yelling and four-letter threats. The real-life visiting LIBRARIAN shot the Perpetrator in the forehead with one shot. She did it faster than the trained Security Forces. The FAST Simulator awarded her a perfect score. Absolutely Freaking Legendary. You'd be very surprised what mommas can do when their children are threatened.1 point

It is again time to make sure that EVERY legislator who represents you knows exactly what your position is. Don't just send off an email to a congresscritter and sit back thinking you've done your part. you need to send one to your State Congressman, State senator, Federal Congresscritter and also to both Corker and Alexander. Be polite, firm, and keep it short. Nobody will read more than a paragraph. Once you have done that, CALL the office of every one of those people as well. Again, be polite, and know what you want to say before you call. Keep it short as the staffers will hopefully be swamped and you want them to hear all of the other folks as well. Finally, if you can do it, make an appointment to see each of the above folks. If you can't get an appointment, visit their local office and let a staffer know what you want. Again, be polite, don't argue, and try to clean up a bit. If you can get some of your friends to join you for the visit, that will make a much greater impact. Again, do not allow tempers to get heated and start an argument. If a staffer or congresscritter disagrees with you, thank them for that information and inform them that you will be sure to pass that opinion around so that voters will know who to vote against next time. Then leave. And spread the word about that person. A personal visit is worth a hundred phone calls. A phone call is worth a hundred emails. But even an email is worth something! Biden has promised to get a bill through Congress and on Obama's desk by the end of the month. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2013/01/white-house-nra-gun-victory.php Make sure they know that we will not accept ANY new restrictions on our freedom. If we get to the point where we need to bury our guns, then we may as well turn them in. We need to stand firm and make sure that EVERY legislator knows that if they pass gun control, they will lose their jobs.1 point

The AR is americas rifle because one, it's basically the same as what our troops use. Second and possibly more important, it is so versatile. It's like a box of Legos. Little switcharoo and you go from an SBR'd 10.5 inch barrel close quarters battle rifle, to a 24 inch bull barrel varmint rifle. In less than 60 seconds. Arguably it is the most ergonomic and comfortable rifle you'll ever shoot. When a quality rifle (AR) is coupled with premium or handloaded to suit, ammunition, it is blisteringly accurate. You can snatch that wimpy 223(5,56 NATO) upper off there and slap on a 300 blackout or 458 SOCOM and hunt anything that walks in TN. You can buy an upper that fires .50BMG and shoot 1,000 yards. You can set it up for .22lr and have a great afternoon with the kids for cheap. Then at the end of the day you can put it back the way started with, set it next to the bed, loaded with frangible ammo and when things go bump in the night, you can call the cops to come help you clean up the mess the guy who was intent on robbing and raping your family made when you sent him off to the next life. It took me a while to come around as I was a forged in fire Kalashnikov man. I ain't going back. The AR is loved by Americans, feared by ameriKans. Of course, we don't expect any less from leftist commie hippie trash.1 point
