I recently posted a thread in the TGO Trading Post requesting to purchase a single brick of .22lr since, apparently, it has disappeared. I was looking for a single brick so I could take my son shooting to break in his new Ruger SR22 and perhaps put some rounds down-range with his 10/22. What happened, you ask? I received not ONE, but TWO offers from fellow members to loan me a brick of 22 as long as I replaced it when supplies became available again. Now, I've never met either of these members in person...only here on the forum. What other group of people does stuff like that? I've been on the Internet for quite a while and participated in a number of forums. This is the only group I know of where outright generosity and kindness are so apparent. I see it in other circumstances as well. How about the threads where someone expresses a financial need for a worthy cause? TGO members step up and donate in large numbers just for the sake of helping others. This has happened over and over again since I've been a member here. In a time of great uncertainty in this country, it is great to know that there are people out there who are willing to step in and lend a hand when there's a need. Thanks TGO! :usa:10 points

And sam1 has offered me a large flex shaft buffer for use on my knives. No where else is this kind of kindness and generosity existent except TGO Thanks TGO, you guys have been the push that has made my blacksmith and forge work, and I could never repay all the kindness, but I will continue to try my best too. Sadly much "reporting" now is simply regurgitation of taking points from partisan sources. While finding impartial sources is challenging for any topic, that is your job. What would Woodward and Bernstein looked like if they just wrote an article talking about what nixon said and why unnamed aources said and they left it at that? I applaud you for coming on here to perform research, and folks have given you quite a lot of facts to work with. I'd encourage you strongly to source some quotes from the Heller and McDonald cases. I'm sure John can help you. You would be performing the duty of the media. Please - thanks for your consideration.3 points

Another thought. If the physical aspect of ones relationship is so powerful that it can save or destroy the ties that bind the two together, I question the validity of that relationship to begin with. You could remove, permanently, any form of physical love from my marriage and it would prosper just as well and have NO influence on fidelity whatsoever. Reason being, my wife is worth more to me than the sum of her......parts. A good woman is not a life support for a vagina.3 points

I try my darnedest to be one of those guys. God knows those guys have done it for me. A fine TGO'er gifted me a like new stok set this weekend for my rifle. Wouldn't take a dime. I noticed our pay it forward thread kind of died. But did it? I know of a LOT of paying it forward that goes on around here unnoticed. I've traveled around the Internet forum scene. There ARE NO FINER PEOPLE to be found than right here. Period. Even the jerks are good people that you can trust in a pinch. Usually on any other forum you have Aholes that can't be reasoned with. I have found even those here who argue like little children and have to have daddy David step in to mediate, are very great people. This does not include the occasional troll, although no other site I ever been on has done so well with them. Our moderators all carry a +5 two handed vorpal bastard sword of troll slaying. (AD&D term).2 points

I have two similar stories to share about the fine folks here on TGO. A few months ago I got the chance to shoot an M&P VTAC and fell head over heals for them. I made a post asking for opinions and expressed my inability to find any in stock. A few weeks later a member got ahold of me through PM to let me know he had one he was considering selling as he was scheduled for deployment and would not be able to use it. He gave me a HECK of a deal considering his was complete with several desirable upgrades. Most recently I mentioned in a post my displeasure at not having procured enough AR magazines before the pricing madness began. Within 48 hours I had not one, but two offers from different members to sell me enough to be comfortable at and below retail pricing from before the madness. I jumped on the first offer and when talking over the phone to arrange a meeting (and just shooting the breeze in general) this GENTLEMAN asked how I was set for ammo. Well having none on hand I just kind of chuckles and said not good. Long story short he agrees to sell me some out of his stash, once again for much less than retail pricing from before the madness. After talking a bit more he also offers up a 22 conversion so now I can actually shoot my AR without burning through precious center fire, once again at a great price. I'm not going to name names to protect the users privacy, but you guys know who you are and all I can say is that the kindness displayed to myself, a complete stranger, truly does touch my often times too jaded heart. Thank you all so, so much! TGO is by far, and I mean far the best forum out there to my knowledge and that all comes down to a to the notch staff, AND the incredible members here.2 points

It's difficult to discuss what we "should do" when we don't know what will get passed or if anything will get passed. Certainly, beforehand, we need to be as active as possible in opposition and that includes our personal efforts of calling and writing our elected officials (and meeting face to face with then when possible) as well as joining every pro-2A group out there with additional contributions to those groups lobbying efforts. Once something does pass...I think every person is going to have to decide for themselves what they are and are not willing to do to retain their rights; rights not given by the Constitution but by God (or if you don't believe in a god then at least rights that every person has simply by being a "person"). I think starting NOW (and we probably should have all alone); we need to be VERY CAREFUL about what information we give here about ourselves...I'm not wearing tin foil but I know enough about technology today to know what data mining can uncover and I suggest that we think carefully before committing something to writing in an internet forum.2 points

There are a lot of things in life that can seem important. There are only a few things that really are. Community is one of them. We are blessed with a great community here, and frankly, most of the moderating decisions we are forced to take come from people who are disruptive to the commuity at large. The interesting thing about community is that every individual member has an impact on the rest, whether they are actively involved or only seldomly so. All it takes is one member taking advantage of someone else to sour it for everyone else. We've got a good thing here. Don't screw it up.1 point

Let me just say this, Brian. This is 100% what I believe. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO STOP AN EVIL OR VIOLENTLY INSANE INDIVIDUAL IN THE ACT OF ASSAULTING INNOCENTS WITHOUT USING FORCE. The problem is that most liberals simply do not belive that. That is the fundamental issue, really. Liberals, or the ones I know, would say that you should talk to the individual, or submit to the assault (give them what they want...blah blah), or run/hide, or call the cops (who will respond with force about 1/2 an hour after you die). They simply do not understand that, in a hopefully rare and few cases, violence is the only answer. A lot of liberals just do not agree that violence is a solution to any sort of problem. And, most of the time, I agree with them, but when some idiot is shooting at 6 year olds, well, I don't agree with them any more at that point. That, what I just typed, is the "honest" liberal. The misguided person thinks talk/diplomacy/anything but violence is the answer and guns are evil as they get in the way of talking/shrinking/negotiating the criminal to death. The dishonest liberal wants gun control because it is a way to punish a political enemy. There is a LOT of this right now and it includes most of the politicians and most of the anti-gun organized movements.1 point

Brain, Your focus on an object might make for some interesting photos. However, your focus should be on the problem - - - Mentally Deranged Evil People who use an object to kill. An Example...... MADD went after the problem (drunk driving), not the object (vehicles). They changed how we look at "having a few" and then getting behind the wheel. They are not called MAIV (Mother's Against Illegal Vehicles) for a reason - - - vehicles didn't cause the problem, it was the action of drunks that needed a solution. I would suggest that finding a solution to Mentally Deranged Evil People walking freely among us would be a better focus of your work.1 point

He's being punished for breaking his employer's rules; not for defending himself. A minor distinction perhaps but an important one I think. If I owned a pizza delivery shop I don't even know whether or not I'd have this kind of rule as I can see good and bad on both sides of the issue; I'd like to think I'd come down on allowing my employees to carry if they decided to do so (and assuming they did so legally) but I would have to think long and hard about as well as talk with my attorney.1 point

Its one thing to tell a private citizen you'd prefer them not to carry, but a cop!? Can he even do that? I know very few people who can disarm a cop. A judge can order a cop to remove his weapon in a court room and I am fairly certain a school principle has the authority as well. A Denny's manager?1 point

I think, if you're listing ten plastic magazines with a total combined value of less than $200 for over $20K, there's no subterfuge going on. It's evident. Obvious. As such, I don't feel ones moral compass need feel misguided. The dealers and vendors who are doubling or tripling prices are the real scumbags here. Private individuals, not so much. A fool and his money are soon parted. Would I be so evil to help expedite the process? I dunno. I won't know either because I have what need, I don't need any more. And as of late, I don't even want any more. Ive lost my taste for semi auto rifles anyway. Not to say I don't stand full face against ANY legislation against them, I certainly do. I was talking to a close friend the other day about this price gouging. We agree that for people with OUR tastes, it's been good actually. The demand for semi autos has driven DOWN the cost of many other types of guns. Deals are out there for bolt action, lever actions and single shot rifles. Especially in obscure calibers. People are hocking off stuff at bargain prices to fund their desire for black rifles and necessary accoutrements. Some of us have yet to feel the pinch.1 point

There's still many ways to protest and resist right now without starting a hot civil war, if some mag ban is passed and I can't find new mags to buy all I can do about that is write my reps, but if some kind of registration or turn-in bill is passed, millions of gun owners can resist by not acknowledging such an un-constitutional law. I keep reading some who seem to fear that if you resist there will be armed storm troopers breaking down your door, just how many LEO's, feds, soldiers etc. are there? Are there enough to search "MILLIONS" of households for guns? I certainly don't plan on caving in and hope no one else does because we are just too many for the government to deal with and I believe they can't completly trust all the LEO's and military personell to follow orders to attack American citizens. We may have an opportunity to put the politicians back in their place somewhat, at least show them that the people still ultimatly rule.1 point

I guess I just don't have the reading comprehension that others do. I don't see where Commando68 said that he wanted to, advocated for, or would participate in overthrowing our govt., by force or by any other means. It is the govt., in case you have not noticed, that has been threatening the citizen, not vice versa. So I don't think Commando68 will be 'facing' you or any other patriots Dave, he has not said anything that would indicate that he would be. If it changed, it was recent. My wife retook hers in early November (she let the certificate expire on the first one) and her target was the same size as mine from a year ago. Her grouping was a lot smaller, though. Must have been a defect in the paper on mine. :P1 point

hate to say it because everyone up there is great and they have outstanding inventory IMO but yeah, they are just way to high. my last two purchases have started off looking around at FGS but ended up at guns for america buying the same gun $50 less. If I had the money I would love to give them some business but $50 is ammo1 point
