Eff 'em. The Republican Party are nothing more than New Deal Democrats. They will either foster the rise of a viable liberty centered third party by their revealing themselves for the big government statists they are, or they will hasten the start of the inevitable shooting war that will occur when the citizenry finally realizes that the government has become their enemy. Both are fine with me.6 points

What's truly sad is that Republicans seem to have an inability to learn from their success. In 1994, the 'Contract with America' proposed a large reduction in the size and power of government. Republicans won hugely in that election. Since then, they have moved ever further to the left, and steadily lost influence and power. Oh, wait, they GAINED a lot during the 2010 elections when they had a message of... Hmm, what was it? Oh, yes! 'A reduction in the size and power of government'! It took them 16 years to re-try the 'small government' message. Perhaps we won't have to wait quite as long next time. I sincerely believe that if Romney had been vocal with a better message than "I'm not Obama", he probably would have won. As for TN Republicans, the leadership seems determined to make the same stupid mistakes as the National leadership.3 points

Quite simply, I'm not a doctor and even if I was I probably couldn't tell you definitively one way or the other if being on a range for an extended period whilst pregnant is harmful to your unborn child. I do know that I wouldn't take that risk. Between the noise and the lead exposure, sorry, not worth the risk. Many things can affect the development of a fetus. I don't think there is enough information out there to say that limited exposure on a range is dangerous, but just because there haven't been studies doesn't mean the risk isn't there. I wouldn't do it. Just wait 'til the baby is born.2 points
-
We discussed risks with my wife's OB during her pregnancy and a decision was made to limit her shooting prior to deliver for a couple of reasons. First was the exposure to airborne lead particles on an indoor range. The second was the unknown risk to the child's hearing after she developed ears in utero. Unborn children react to sound stimuli, so there would be an unknown level of risk to her developing ears. If an outdoor range had been available to us it would have changed things, but as we are limited to indoor shooting, it wasn't an option for us.2 points

It apparently is. Like I said in another post, I'm starting to realize that many people can't think rationally or logically and literally have to reprogram their brains. If you don't grow up around guns and have been raised in a society that constantly tells you that somehow your life isn't worth as much as someone elses than it's no wonder that these people can't grasp the concept of an individual's right to freedom and self preservation. I wouldn't even say it's the being raised around guns that helps people understand this but at it's most fundamental level it's the being raised with the mindset of providing and doing for yourself and not depending on someone else to protect and provide for you. Even if guns didn't exist I'd own a knife, or if no knives, a big stick for self defense. People have been brain washed into thinking that somehow they have less of a right to something, like survival, than anybody else.2 points

The "youth" of today are being brainwashed by: The left wing media and their anti-gun bias, hollywood and their anti-gun bias and finally the govt run youth indoctrination "public schools". Our public school system is based on the Prussian model from the late 1800's. The children in public schools are being raised by the govt. bureaucrat, foster program not their parents. They are taught to "rat" on parents if they smoke dope or own a firearm. They are encouraged to "rat" on each other. The public shools herd the youth around by bells and make them follow the pack. Don't question authority and no independent thought. Conform to the pack, spoon feed the children the history the state wants them to know. The Pavlovian youth of today worship at the alter of the cellphone and the ipad. The "youth" are being lobotomized into mindless sheep that do as they are told and couldn't tell you the meaning of the Bill of Rights. The obama generation no longer says the pledge of allegiance nor are they taught to handwrite in cursive. They are taught that the rich are evil. They are taught that amerika was founded by white racist, non-conformist, slave owning pigs. They are taught that amerika was stolen from the "native americans" and they should feel guilty. They are taught that they are entitled to a job. They are taught that their "God" is govt. The youth are being emasculated and dummied down by the socialist, big govt, statist toads in the dc swamp.2 points

We are done here . I will not reopen this thread. Maybe you guys can report me and find another that will but I doubt it. We have all expressed our views on this, some of us dozens of times, so there is nothing more to see. If you want to find out how someone feels about this go back to the begining and start reading again. And sventvkg if you decide to start bashing cops on here you will find your stay here will be short lived. I am one of the more critical members of bad officers, go ahead and search on here, there is plenty of evidence on here. With that being said I will not allow you or anyone else to lump all those who are doing good in with the bad few. Not every officer is bad and as a matter of fast the vast majority are just the opposite. How do I know? Because I have worked in LE as well as continue to do what I can to help those that are trying to do good. I have been responsible for the firing of bad officers. But I have also seen good officers loose their career over some ficticious complaint. Again, we are done here. Dolomite2 points

Y'all mind if an old fart interjects his opinion? Back in my day, we still had TV and the published newspaper with fair and balanced reporting at that time. All major news stories were eventually reported, albeit not as fast as today's technological instant coverage. Murder and heinous crimes have been committed throughout all of U.S. history, no one would argue that fact. But, back in the day (1952 - 1965), it was a rare occurrence to hear and read of such monstrous acts, though they did occur on rare occasions. These days the atrocities continue to increase in frequency and body count. I don't need to quote government statistics to realize that fact, it should be common knowledge to senior citizens, parents and grand parents. I won't bore anyone with my Biblical views of the problem but, who would disagree the problems with humanity are getting worse by the year? There is black and white, up and down, left and right, good and evil, total opposites IMHO. When our government legislates a change in our moral history, and by law, legislates evil as acceptable and a protected class, and good is subjugated into submission... Houston, we have a problem! As a nation and people, we are not advancing to Utopia and the promised land, we are devolving into a cesspool. Knowledge is increasing expotentually and wisdom is as common as "common sense". Look at the values and morals your beloved grandparents and great-grandparents had and compare them to today. Any change? Does our generation despise our forefathers so much as to destroy our traditional values and spit in their face and think they were stupid and old time? What's changed to create this mess since my up bringing in the 50's? Internet porn, the Internet in general, violent video games, Hollywood, FCC restrictions lifted on smut and violence on free TV, welfare, one parent families, hundreds of thousands of gang members, rap and violent music, borders unprotected, going to war where we have no business, liberals, separation of church and state, abortion on demand, public school liberal indoctrination, liberal college and universities, rewards for not working, drug use out of control, every one's a victim and protected class, no one should be responsible or accountable, NAFTA, GATT, NATO, WTO, UN, World Bank, on and on and on... No wonder we're in the predicament we're in today with no natural compassion or respect for life. And our former and current government representatives are a reflection of the "peoples will" and created what we are now experiencing. And folks, it's not going to get any better! I myself don't intend to be force fed anything that detracts from what made this nation great and "one nation under God". OFF / RANT2 points

Just thought I'd mention something. The feds don't need a youth DHS army to take over the country considering there are already thousands of federal LEOs and military members who have access to all sorts of fantastic weapons and vehicles. Does FEMA have some magical power to brainwash young minds that exceeds the ability of the US military to brainwash 18-21 year olds? This is nothing more than conspiratorial hogwash. Yes, DHS bought a bunch of ammo. So what? DHS includes many more agencies than FEMA. Immigration and Customs and the Border Patrol, the US Secret Service, the US Coast Guard, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers, and the Federal Air Marshals are all under DHS and obviously need guns and ammunition for their duties and training. Also, let me address this silly Obama Youth Brigade hand gesture thing. I have studied World War II history as an armchair historian, and genocide as an academic endeavor. Never have I seen any photo of the Hitler Youth using the hand gesture shown in the picture associated with Obama. Never. In fact, the only picture I have seen is the close-up of the hands used as a comparison. However, I can find plenty of pictures of Hitler Youth using the standard Nazi salute (which was also used by American school children to salute the American flag when the Pledge of Allegiance was introduced to American society by Francis Bellamy, a socialist). So what we have here is the absence of a single photo or propaganda poster that displays this alleged hand gesture. None. Please feel free to do your own research and try to prove me wrong, but I think you'll be hard pressed to find any photo or propaganda poster that shows this alleged hand gesture. The photo showing this alleged Hitler Youth hand gesture did appear in the Heinrich Hoffman books and and was credited as being a photo of Hitler's own hands during a speech. It can be seen about 3/4 down the page on this website that shows photos of the books' contents: http://www.germaniainternational.com/hitler23.html Regardless, the comparison between this and the Obama "sign of progress" thing where the hands are supposed to make a letter O for his last name, is simply a fabrication of the conspiratorial right-wing blogosphere. It wouldn't surprise me if Glenn Beck or Alex Jones came up with it single handedly to create this very effect. In other news, do know that the Obama administration is currently training members of the Civil Air Patrol to fly black helicopters. They are starting them young too. This website shows them being trained to do tactical repelling into your home in the event of a government takeover. Video proof! http://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/cap_home/teens/
Also, I have just found photographic evidence to prove that Ronald Reagan was actually a communist and admirer of Muammar Gaddafi:2 points

It's sad that people died in this and I know it was a "gun free" zone but I keep reading people's testimonies of stuff like, "I felt so helpless" and "All I could do was hide and cry, and pray" and I just can't wrap my brain around why people choose to continue to feel this way. My brain just doesn't work that way. If you don't want to feel helpless do something about it! If you don't want to be stuck peeing yourself in a corner, just waiting to be slaughtered, do something about it! I'm not saying I'd be the guy to chase after the gunman but I sure as heck wouldn't make myself an easy target if he got between me and the door. Sorry for the rant. It just gets my goat to see all these people with the "woe is me" attitudes and that there's nothing they can do about it. Arm yourselves!2 points

Maybe I should clarify. If the state is the one charging fees or taxes to exercise a right, then the cost is excessive. If the expenses arise from needing to purchase materials, supplies, etc on the open market, then that is acceptable as it is not the government providing the impediment to the exercising of those rights. The government has no responsibility to facilitate the exercising of rights, it just cannot impede them in any way. See the difference?1 point

Should the ability to carry a gun be limited to only those that can afford "a decent handgun"? How much is a reasonable amount for it to cost to vote? The cost of the permit is, in my opinion, directly equivalent to poll taxes. They are an unconstitutional tax on the exercise of a constitutionally acknowledged right.1 point

Really? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJFC1qFCgyA The Prussian-Industrial Model THE ROOTS OF MODERN PUBLIC SCHOOLING Horace Mann, credited as the father of the American public school system, studied a wide variety of educational models before implementing the Prussian system designed by Fredrick the Great. King Frederick created a system that was engineered to teach obedience and solidify his control. Focusing on following directions, basic skills, and conformity, he sought to indoctrinate the nation from an early age. Isolating students in rows and teachers in individual classrooms fashioned a strict hierarchy—intentionally fostering fear and loneliness. Mann chose the Prussian model, with its depersonalized learning and strict hierarchy of power, because it was the cheapest and easiest way to teach literacy on a large scale. This system was perpetuated throughout the early twentieth century by social efficiency theorists who sought to industrialize the educational process. Led by educators such as Ellwood P. Cubberley, they used education as a tool for social engineering: “Our schools are, in a sense, factories in which the raw products (children) are to be shaped and fashioned into products to meet the various demands of life.†(Cubberley, 1917) Building upon the depersonalized uniformity and rigid hierarchy of the Prussian system, they constructed an industrial schooling model designed to produce millions of workers for Americaʼs factories. Believing that most of America’s students were destined for a life of menial, industrial labor, these theorists created a multi-track educational system meant to sort students from an early age. While the best and brightest were carefully groomed for leadership positions, the majority was relegated to a monotonous education of rote learning and task completion. Consequently, our schooling system is still locked into the Prussian-industrial framework of fear, isolation, and monotony. For both students and teachers, procedure is emphasized over innovation, uniformity over individual expression, and control over empowerment. It is, therefore, not surprising that the majority of Americaʼs classrooms have changed little in over one hundred years. Rhetoric? I think not.1 point

I don't know if you've ever worked in a closed shop but it's not that easy to "vote a union out"...even hinting that you want to do so can result in a little "after hours home visit" so you'll see the error of you thought process (and no, I'm not joking about that). Voting in and then trying to vote out a union is a a bit like picking up a crocodile by the tail...if you can keep the best swinging over your head you'll be okay but chances are he'll find a way to take your leg off even if you try to throw him far enough away from you so you can run the other direction. I've nothing specific against unions; I've been in a couple voluntarily...I'm just against being mandated that I join one and pay dues just to have a job (not to mention seeing those dues being spent on things I may fundamentally disagree with). All a "right to work" state really means is that I'm not required to join one...nothing in a right to work state prevents unions from being formed or being voted in or joined in any company; it only prevents mandatory conscription which really shouldn't cause anybody any heartburn. Really; the violence by these union thugs due to enactment of such a simple, free-market concept as right to work pretty much says all that needs to be said about these unions, how they operate and what their real goals are. If they truly have benefits to give that is worth the dues they collect then people will still join...so what are they afraid of if people have a right to choose? ;)1 point

Standards Rant (I agree with almost all of it except for the tape process. the fact is that the tape test is not an accurate measure of body fat. I personally believe that before a Soldier is processed out they should receive a more accurate method of measuring. A good time for this would probably be at their mandatory meeting with the nutritionist. The only reason the Army continues to use the tape method is because it is significantly cheaper than other methods. It would not be cost effective to use the more accurate methods for every Soldier that is over screening table weight. It would however not be terribly expensive to do for only Soldier who tape over. 5. Yeager is a douche1 point

I care a LOT more for the good folks in Wyoming than the typical labor union communists up north. Get some hot dogs and marshmallows and watch it burn. The beautiful Cyrtanthus ventricosu also known as the Fire Lily only blooms after a raging forest fire and it usually comes in with just a week or two. Despite what people are afraid of, the fiscal cliff or even total economic collapse, there is a great potential for good things. First we must remove the malignant tumor that is currently sucking the life out of those of us that can support ourselves and actually live productive lives. You may hate Yeager and may love someone else that has the same background and the same opinions without the attitude/brashness. It's all about the delivery even though the principles might be exactly the same. I think it's safe to say almost anyone could learn something from Yeager, IF you can let yourself listen to him and get past his mile high ego. I've read every post on this thread, and I still do not see the big deal about an officer disarming someone for the safety of all concerned. To the fellow who keeps refering to rangers as "squirrel chasers" (or whatever the phrase is you used)...thank you! I never heard that one before! I'll share it with my co-workers for sure. If an officer suspects you may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs (maybe why the stop was made to begin with),( oh wait, people with HCP's don't drink and drive while carrying a handgun), you are going to get disarmed, field tested and (if applicable) taken to jail. I don't think disarming everyone is the answer. But, before I stop you...please tell me a little about yourself. Who are you? What kind of day are you having? Are you wanting to commit homicide? Suicide? Are you on your way to the mall? Theatre? School? Office, because you just lost your job? I don't know you bud...But I plan on doing everything I can to make sure I go home to my family. Oh yeah...one more thing. Ask the next LEO who stops you how his or her day is going? I wonder how many of you who are bashing LEO's on here have ever called the police, ranger or game warden for assistance? That LEO didn't fail to ever show up, and maybe he put his life on the line for you. Why are we all acting like a bunch little kids? Some of ya'll are crying over spilled milk! Let's all grow up and appreciate the job that our police, fire and EMS does! Maybe next time you need a cop...think about this thread and whinning over being disarmed, call a plummer instead!
