Went out to Dickson this afternoon to pick up something, and cruising at warp speed on the interstate, the temp gauge shot up fast and I smelled coolant through the vents. Pulled over, coolant was everywhere & couldn't figure out where it came from. Let the engine cool off, drove another couple miles, stopped again and let it cool off then had enough time to get to a gas station (then to NAPA). The plastic end cap on the radiator blew about a 1/2" hole out of it, when I was hoping for a loose hose or something simple. Long story short, I was able to patch up the hole water tight by wadding up some duck tape, melting it so it got hard, melting it on to the hole, then sealing it up with plastic epoxy. Worked so good that it never lost a drop of water on the way back, even with sitting in rush hour traffic - a 2 hour drive. Don't forget about Jim Cooper either. Add him to the replacement list along with Corker and Alexander. Ralph Bristol on 99.7 brought up this subject this morning and basically endorses Rep. Scott DesJarlais but, he also strongly encourages the Tea Party to put up a contender to start fighting for Lamar's seat. He also mentioned that all the states Republicans endorses Alexander. So, call, write, email your disgust, assuming it would make a difference.2 points

I have a 14 year old daughter in Davidson county schools. It's a constant battle to keep her from being indoctrinated. I had a yard sign for Romney and she even was concerned about her friends on the school bus seeing it! She loves pop music and that's yet another attack on values when her favorite singers endorsed Obama...I have to sit her down regularly to talk about this stuff. One argument I use is the one about how I'm gonna take part of her allowance that she works for and give it to the "poor" kids who won't work for their allowance. That seems to help , lol.2 points

It's a sad state of affairs when a public education and brain washing fouls your own children, and it's all my fault. I suspect I'm not alone in my failures, as documented in the latest presidential election. During their upbringing I was very busy making a living, doing home repairs, cutting the grass, and taking some time for myself hunting and fishing. I neglected their critical thinking thought process and left that to the public schools and my liberal wife. Long story short... My kids came down from Illinois to my home in Tennessee for Thanksgiving and spent a few days with us. All my kids are now adults and productive citizens of society. As a parent, you love your children unconditionally, period! But you sure can lose allot of respect on their choices and narrow minded thinking! Seems the younger generation now thinks they are owed something, and want instant gratification in owning a new home, two new cars, and keep up with the Joneses at tax payers expense. The working hard and saving for the future is not necessary, I'll borrow it and get it right now! During the course of their visit, the subject of politics came up and we discussed who we voted for. My son said he voted for Obummer because he was pro union, because he has a union job? My daughter said she voted for Obummer also because, he is articulate and looked better on TV? Damn, what a failure their father is, not spending any time informing them growing up on politics and its effects! Whether you want to admit it or not, I believe this is one reason we're in the shape we are in today. Our children have been brain washed in the public education system and not enough parental involvement to counter the socialist movement. My beliefs are so strong on our American freedoms and rights, I almost want to distance myself from them? When they need money and help, I'm tempted to tell them to ask Obummer for assistance. I can't believe my own children believe, as Americans, they are owed something, and entitled? My BAD... and it hurts.1 point

If only they were made from metal like they used to be! Dealing with all of these parts made from plastic now is annoying, used to be able to throw some jb weld or quicksteel on anything and patch it up, hell the patch work would last longer than the casings lol. Bet you could pull the radiator out of a 1978 ford ltd station wagon and it would still work great, while a couple year old radiator will now disintegrate just from driving down the road.1 point

A hunting license is REQUIRED in the state of Tennessee, as well as a hunter safety card. Most small game species here cannot be hunted with centerfire weapons, IE:223. One of the really nice things about Tennessee, is that if it is NOT LISTED in the HUNTING REGS, it cannot be legally hunted. The next really nice thing about Tennessee, is the really cool FREE booklet of hunting regs that explains everything you need to know about hunting in Tennessee. Get a FREE copy anywhere license are sold....hell in fact, about all wildlife officers have an extra copy in their truck.... Ground Squirrels here are called "Chipmunks". There are protected. Tree Rats are a good choice for .22 and may be taken by shotgun and muzzleloader. Coyote hunting is real popular here, but special regulations and weapons do apply! Dave S1 point

"But students didn't know what they were doing when they signed on the dotted line" .... Oi Vey ...
we can't give up b/c if we do then they keep spreading false and illogical information. there has to be someone to argue the other side.
I have to disagree with that, our time is spent better working on other angles. When we waste time trying to argue their points, that make zero sense, we give them a little bit of validation when they don't even deserve being mentioned. Things like gun safety, gun control, making sure that people know the loons causing issues, really are loons and not like the rest of us, are much more important than arguing with an idiot about how it was the gun's fault the crime was committed. We could spend years (and have) arguing logic like if it was the gun's fault, then pencils should be banned for misspelling, or that the firearm that was used in a robbery, should be charged with a crime instead of the person using it etc... Obviously they are too stupid to understand these things, so nothing we say is going to impact their opinion. We all get tied up in these debates with morons because it is so damn frustrating that people can actually be ignorant enough to believe some of the things they do, but we should be spending our energy with lawmakers and politicians; the people who can actually impact the issue one way or another. I'm guilty of this just as much as anyone else around, but have been working on it.1 point

I view the various iterations of the Confederate flag not as equivalent to a swastika but, rather, as equivalent to the Don't Tread on Me flag and the original Stars and Stripes. The men who fought in the Revolutionary war owned slaves but that doesn't mean the war was 'about slavery'. It just means that King George III wasn't sneaky or deceptive enough to make slavery an issue in the war - unlike one Abraham Lincoln (even though Lincoln, himself, had already said that he didn't care about freeing the slaves.) Honestly, I think both wars were fought for very similar reasons - a group of people felt they could no longer abide the treatment they were receiving at the hands of the authorities of their government and so they endeavored to win their freedom from said oppressive government and create a government that was more in keeping with their ideals. The biggest difference, to my mind, is that the Colonials won and the Confederates did not. For that reason, and because I, too, have ancestors who died fighting for the cause represented by those flags, I will respect them and display them whenever and however I please. If someone else doesn't like it, thinks it is equivalent to a swastika or whatever then they are cordially invited to kiss my butt. I couldn't care less what other people think of me.1 point

I too have a hard time un-teaching my kids. My 7 year old daughter still belives Columbus discovered America. She even stated she wanted to vote for Obama (in a school election), despite my constant telling her that he did not value our constitution. Maybe it is the fact that she is 7, my 11 year old gets it. I think the point overall though is we as parents have a uphill battle un-teaching and re-teaching the lies that our kids are told.1 point

I reload the 380. For less that $5 a box, its very worth it if you shoot much of the caliber. I double up the savings -- I adapted the cheap LRN bullets for my 380 to my 9, keeping the costs down for both. The only problems I had with 380 were trying to use a hot powder.... too small a charge, use a fatter powder, try something that uses 4 grains or more unless you have precise powder and scale.1 point

Ha. That's very similar to a conversation that my wife and I have had regarding female logic. They might say something like, "the house is hot". To a female that means, " I would like for you to go to the thermostat and turn it down". To a male she is stating a fact. So now when my wife says something similar in nature I will ask her if she is stating a fact or making a request. My response seems to be working since she is more likely now to just state her request rather than make an ambiguous statement.1 point

Well, I've had a Mosin for a couple of years that I've flirted with modernizing a bit. I talked to a gunsmith buddy of mine who offered to help me out, so i said yes. I started out with a really nice 1891/30 manufactured in 1943 at Izhevsk, Russia. Sorry, I don't have a picture of it originally. Here are a few picks of the project. He cut four inches off of the barrel. Here's the cut. Then the recrown. Here it is complete with the scope mounted and the angled bolt installed. And finally... drum roll... three rounds at 100 yards with surplus military ammo. Close up. The left hole had two rounds through it. This turned out way better than I expected. The crown job was superb! My buddy really did a fantastic job. I'll get more pictures up after I pick it up on Sunday. Let me know what you think!1 point

Raise your weak hand in praise and worship to the God of your understanding; Keep your strong hand tucked close to your hip. No god worth serving passes out freebies to strong capable people. It's my personal belief that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob favors those who ask not for a detailed list of everything they need, but instead ask for the strength, wisdom and ability to do it themselves. I'm lost on the idea of asking God for EVERYTHING. What good is a heaven full of people he has to support? No. Any god worth serving takes pride in a follower who is empowered by the wisdom of the spirit and can take care of simple tasks without getting on his nerves like a spoiled child. Absolutely arm yourselves in your place of worship. There is a time for peace and a time for war. When a person decides to attack you and your loved ons in said place of worship.....it is time for war. The tunnel visioned bible belt Christians are deluded and hung up on passive attitudes. God understands war. God understands the difference in murdering another for personal gain or cold blood and causing a threat to your women and children to rapidly reach room temperature. God is no coward, and he is not weak. Why would you want to be any different? Vengeance is his true, but it's on YOU to stand and deliver when the lives of your loved ones are in peril.1 point
