How about doing a popular vote. That way the people of the state can decide what they want...
If TN were run by referendum, we'd likely have scary weapons ban, no hicap mags, and no handgun carry. For sure, that would be the nationwide result. Half the actual gun owners in the nation and probably in this state would vote that way too. A lot of Kali state law comes out of their endless referendums. There's a real clue there as to why the USA was set up as a representative Republic and not a pure democracy. - OS3 points
Maybe I should have worded that a bit different. I will still stand by my statement of the doors being locked or not. If they are locked they forced entry. If the doors are open not so much. Now I am not saying you cannot shoot, you just need to be more careful about it. I am also not saying they are not trespassing as they would be, but that does not constitue a forced entry. Shooting in the back I should have added more. In general it's a not a good option. Saying this because you can use deadly force against a threat, once someone turns and runs they are no longer a threat. However given the right situation yes absolutely nothing wrong with it.
If someone comes into my house uninvited, doors unlocked or not, I would only hope he has prepared himself by having all his personal affairs in order for his next of kin. It doesn't matter to me which way he is facing, left, right, front or back. As long as he is in my house he is a threat, and will be dealt with in an appropriate manner! Dave S2 points
Just read on one of the local news websites that some people will have been camping out for 18+ hours when they open the doors at some of the local retailers. Obviously some people feel their time is worth little to nothing.
They are probably correct in assuming their time is worthless. There's nothing at the retailers that wasn't there a few days ago, that is worth the insanity of standing in lines for hours.2 points
So, from what I read in that article, our elected officials don't think I am being "reasonable" because I strongly believe that I have a right to keep an item secured in my vehicle regardless of where it is parked. When the debate starts off like that, you know it's not going to bode well for gun owners.
Our elected officials don't know what to think. If it's the totally unsupervised TWRA range in Cheatham County then I'm only surprised it's taken this long. As much as I get annoyed at the strict rules over at Hobson Pike, I'll take that over the idiots who hang out at the unsupervised range. Too many of them think safety rules are for other people to worry about.1 point

On a national level we're pretty much at a pure democracy already considering how many people each rep. Is supposed to represent. Representative govt only works when its small and close to the people. We lost that a long time ago.1 point

Yep, CyanogenMod has been on every phone I've had, starting with CM 4 on the G1. It's really became a wonderful team of developers, they really do magic for some of the crappy phones that are put out. Before getting into firearms, I tried my hand at making boot animations, themes and doing some minor coding that was theme related. Firearms make for a better hobby Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent Red Tapatalk 21 point

CM10 is good, but there's a lot of people that have taken that and built even better ROMs from it. ParanoidAndroid is one, KingKang etc... but my favorite is Blu Kuban, it has the speed of the CM10 JB, except everything works and the modems are faster. Now that your cherry has been popped, you'll probably be on xda weekly, trying out new ones lol1 point
The Police can’t search your car unless your employer is making a criminal complaint against you, theft, etc. If they are, the Police will either get a warrant or if they have probable cause they will search it. The cops aren’t going to get involved in this. So what’s going to happen to you? You know your boss better than we do; what is going to happen?
This is, for me, a hypothetical situation. It's real enough, I guess, for some folks, but I think it would be rare. I would think, the issue would come up very seldom, and that if it did, everyone would go to a neutral corner. Unless, the employer is a total douche, which I would not want to work for; or because or I'm a total douche employee - and it would be an excuse to fire me. I'm thinking if we go to a "car searches cannot be a term of employment consent" it would be a useful law for Tennessee. And it wouldn't have to mention guns. For the big employers, like FedEx perhaps, that means that searches for shoplifting from the business take places with security at the company's door, not out in the parking lot. I'm thinking it's already like that for retailers with their customers.1 point

Well I have learned one thing. Make sure the table is cleaned off before taking pics but hey I was excited and in a hurry. So here it is. Bullpup Unlimited Stock for Remington 870. They finally went out last week and mine showed up yesterday. Have not had a chance to shoot it and don't know when I will yet. Currently using a 20" barrel and probably going to go with it for awhile.1 point

They order from the same distributor as any other dealer. And the distributor grabs the gun Walmart ordered just like they would for any other dealer. The Colt you get is the same exact gun as you would get from any other dealer. Anyone who has told you Walmart guns are inferior is an idiot. That was a rumor started by crooked, lying dealers to try to boost their own sales. Dolomite1 point

Update, well I made it to my local Walley. First in line at the sporting goods desk, actually the only one in line. The sales associate whom I know on a first name basis from all of the ammo I buy, met me with a sleepy smile, and worked with me. I was only interested in the Sig M400 in ODG color. She said they only had two, and both were black. Good grief, my planning, my selling off useless items over the past 3 weeks, was fading away, I chose the wrong the Walmart to stand in line. Anyway, took off to another larger WalMart (Maryville). Got there 6am, and whew! They had only one ODG left. Recieved my time appointment, and now I am happy owner. I will post pictures later.1 point
...Employers will still be able to fire employees for any reason... Dolomite
In theory, true...but i practice, its not quite that simple. I've worked with HR departments several times on matters of the dispopsition of "less than ideal" employees, and quite frankly, IME its easier to scrape barnacles off the hull of a ship than to let employees go "for cause" unless they make some egregious violation (ie, deliberately hurt someone at the workplace, steal a significant amount of company money/property, commit a violent crime while in the workplace, etc), . Its far easier to simply relocate them within an organization to where they do the least damage, or wait until there's a downsizing and let them get caught in the outward flow. I've actually had the theoretical conversation about an employee possessing in their car in violation of a company policy (where property is NOT properly posted) with some HR folks, HR attorneys and security folks at several businesses. None could tell me why the policy is written as such, other than to say that it came down from corporate legal management. None could tell me that such violation was, in their opinion, a "firing" offense unless the company was already looking for a reason to get rid of someone...and even then it was not likely to be singled out as the reason for departure, but instead used to substantiate looking further for more tangible demonstrations of insubordination. So no, I don't think you'll see many counterclaims, just as you do not see many/any firings for violating said policy. Disclaimer: this is based upon my experience in the NE corner of the state...all bets are off for points west, who largely consider themselves to be the real Tennessee anyway.1 point

Patriotism has nothing to do with political affiliation. Serving your country, recognizing the rights of others and obeying the law show patriotism. No, I am not a liberal and no I am not a Democrat. I am a thirty year retired USMC MGySgt, a Vietnam War veteran (4 tours "in country") and was a Republican for over forty years. I am now an Independent as I will not wear a brown shirt and red armband and worship a Republican King and his court, nor will I allow a Socialist Democratic Party to dictate to me how to live. We are right now at the same point Germany was in 1934: only two choices and both of them are bad.I don't Identify with either party, I identify as being an American, and I have earned the right to call myself that by service to my nation, not by party affiliation. The store owner had the right to do what he did but he would never get my business. He was a good Republican but a lousy American.1 point

any shotgun will do as long as YOU will do. If it is going to sit most of the time, save your money and get something inexpensive; you're not going to shoot it enough to tear it up. If you have a suitable shotgun you hunt with, let it do double duty as a HD gun. If you have money to burn....then the sky is the limit. There are a lot of good guns, most have been mentioned, just look around for what fits your budget and taste.1 point
