3.
In related news, tin foil is flying off the shelves.
I bet everyone in the US said the same thing in 1994 right before the AWB then. And that AWB took away gun rights. Or what about California where the laws are strict and they are likely going to be the example they use because it is Feinstein who is pushing for the nationwide ban. Not long after the DC shooting there was a bill introduced that sought to outlaw "sniper rifles". That law stated that any make of gun capable of shooting a group under 3" at 100 yards would be outlawed as it was considered a sniper rifle. Also, there have been quite a few bills introduced seeking to tax ammunition to a point that no one could afford it. In parts of Illinois, where Obama hails from, there is a .05 per bullet tax. All it takes is one time for a bill to pass and it is done. How often do we hear of a bill or law being repealed? Never. All they need to do is fight for a bill or law to be passed once yet we have to fight every single time. Eventually they will sneak one by and that will be the end just like th 1986 ban on the sale of new MG's to civillians. By all accounts it did not pass the voice vote but Charlie Rangel, yes the same one investigated for ethics violations, declared it passed because he was the speaker of the house at the time. I am not wearing tinfoil to think the Democrats are going to use any tool or excuse they can to outlaw our guns. Be it through UN resolution, passing laws, regulations or executive order I can see him trying something big before he leaves office that will affect gun ownership. To think anything different is a bit naive. Gun owners are under attack, or at a minimum not being supported, by all those who voted for Obama. And that is very close to being the majority of the nation now. I do not believe we will loose our guns because of a UN resolution we, as a nation, sign but signing it will be the impetus for our governemnt to pass laws to fall in line with what is in the UN resolution. The "blue helmets" are not going to come here to take our guns. Dolomite

 4. So everybody is probably familiar with the problems that I had with the canted front sight post on an Arsenal I bought earlier this year. I decided to just get my money back out of the rifle after it was fixed. I successfully did that. The main reason for selling the Arsenal was bc I saw that for the same amount of money or even less I could build the AK that I wanted. Last week I picked up an unconverted Saiga 7.62x39 from hipower on here. I just ordered the conversion items from Carolina Shooters Supply. I am going to have Nathan "AK Guy" do the conversion for me. With Nathan's help I have put together a list of parts and modifications for my build. I figured I would share my build with everybody and see what everybody's inputs on the parts I'm going to use. I would like negative and positive feedback on parts if anybody has used any of the ones that I plan on using. I also plan to go with a black/od green theme. Ill try to keep this updated as the build comes along! Here's the rifle as it sits right now.

 8. I wonder if they are going to wear the blue helmets? They are really easy to see from a distance. What ever organization is tasked with the actual search and seizure will likely sustain substantial losses. But the majority of gun owners will turn their guns in without question and of those who do the majority will do it without receiving any money because of the fear of jail time. The biggest threat to those who decide to keep their guns is not going to be those who are coming to grab them. It will be the fellow gun owner who already turned in his guns. But before all this happens they are going to make shooting guns so expensive or bothersome that most will see guns as a useless tool. This will soften the resolve of a lot of gun owners. We have already seen it with the new regulations regarding surplus powders, bullets and cases that are no longer being sold to the public. Add the additional costs for dealers that must be passed on to the consumer makes it more expensive to reload. We have already seen a doubling of ammo prices in 5 years. Imagine what is going to happen in the next 5. A ban on lead ammo is going to be tried and might actually win this time around following California's recent success with this. And this will make ammunition too expensive for the comapnies to produce for civillian sales so companies will just stop making ammunition intended for civillians. Those companies will still supply ammo to the government to sustain themselves though. Maybe this is why the recent ban on selling components to civillians, to soften up the manufacturers and to force companies to abide by the the government's wishes if they want to remain in business. 9. When Obama Care bombs, (and it will, it was designed to), and we move to a single payer system, and our healthcare system completely falters, we will take the whole conversation back up. We see Haslam capitulating to the exchanges already, he is going to sell us shortly to keep his place at the trough. Harwell already staging Frist and HCA to profit from our discomfiture. Pretty simple really, the Elite making decisions about how the producers will exist, damn what that old worthless document (Constitution) says, they know best.

 11.
Ok, I am going to do a bigger analysis of this, later. Several things, Mitt even stated these issues. Lets start with "voting blocks." This term is used to describe certain voters with similar aspects, such as race, creed, sex, income, or age. Several of these blocks, the Young vote, the African American vote, the Hispanic vote, and Women voters are the crucial ones which voted for Obama, and against Romney. The GOP's stance on several points harmed the party with these voting blocks. Young vote: Gay marriage, stance on marijauna, Religious Right. War mongering. In the eyes of the younger generation, they see sexual issues very differently than those 35+. In my experience, coming "out of the closet," or even professing the want to get a sex change, would have led to major conflicts, and rage, when I was young. Not so with them. They actively support those who come out with these sexual issues. They act as if it is no big deal. The blocking of marriage rights for gays, and their right to fight for this nation, harmed the GOP here. Marijauna and other "recreational" drugs have a different view in this generation, than with the older ones. We had been told these things are extremely bad, and dangerous, and, particularly the case with marijuana, recreational drugs were "gateway" drugs to worse things. Yet, the younger generation has grown up with these recreational drugs done by their parents, and friends. They do not see the point on being hard against these drugs, and favor making them legal. This is something the present GOP opposes. Religous Right: Most young are not as "up tight" or stress over religous differences. They are more tolerant (and in many cases, IMHO, for the betterment of Christianity) than the older generations, and they do not see the need to push for things like prayer in schools. They see the Religious Right as a negative. And the GOP? Yes, they cater to the Religious Right. War mongering: Correct perception or not, GOP candidates are seen as war hawks by the younger population. The younger population sees little benefit coming from wars, as they have seen the ample coverage of the Iraq and Afghan conflicts. They look at these conflicts as absurd at best, but basically huge waste of lives. And they remember, it was a GOP President pushing for these wars. The African American vote (IMHO, a misnomer, should be American of African desent, as the culture is not African.) This vote, in the hugest form of irony, has been lost by the GOP, the party of Abe Lincoln. How did this happen? The Dems figured out, during the 1960's, the freedom movement would benefit them in the future. The GOP did not respond to the movement as well. And now, in the eyes of this community, the GOP are for the Whites only. A good piece of work by the Dems to go from the anti-rights party to the defender of the African Americans. True, this is not the biggest of the voting blocks, but 12-14% helps in tight elections. Hispanic vote: Hispanics, by most aspects, Deeply religious, supportive of the sanctity of marriage, etc., smacks of a voting block primed for the GOP. But, the GOP has stumbled by always looking like the Anti- Hispanic immigration party. This, plus the viewpoint the GOP, thru the blocking of the Dream Act, and supporting the aspects of "papers please" laws, alienated the Hispanic vote. Again, the GOP reinforced the viewpoint they are the "Whites Only" party. Mitt pointed this out on several occasions, claiming if the GOP loses the Hispanic voting block, they have lost the future elections. Considering the size of, and the speed of which this size is growing, the Hispanic voting block will be crucial in future elections. Women voters: This block is still growing in impact as more women see elections impacting their health, well being, and their family's health and well being. For a politcal party claiming to be for less government intervention, it is surprising how much more governing the GOP wants over women's vaginas. Here, the pandering to the Religous Right has pushed women voters towards the Dems. In addition, the lack of support for the Lilly Ledbetter Act, and equal pay for equal work, damaged the GOP further. This reinforced the view the GOP is for not only Whites, but only White males. Attempting to remove the Planned Parenthood funding also damaged the GOP here. 98%+ of the Planned Parenthood funds have ZERO to do with abortions. Of the less than 2% dealing with the topic, the majority, 75%+, goes to counciling, which typically prevents the abortion. The 98% goes towards women's health, such as cancer screenings, medical treatments, and other health programs to the benefit of women. And ZERO of the federal funding goes to anything abortion related. In the eyes of many female voters, this action, plus additional laws cutting health care for women, is dangerous. Going after Planned Parenthood is a bad politcal move for the GOP. Arguably, going after Big Bird, and NPT, fits here, as it is a family issue, and parents rely on these educational services for their children, an anti-family stance which may have hurt the GOP with women. If you look at the perceptions of the GOP, from the views of these voter blocks, it is no wonder Mitt lost. Add the fact Mitt alienated the likes of Ron Paul supporters (who are a block of active voters, too) in his own party, and yes, Mitt lost.
Anyone who believes anything other than what this man said has their head buried in the sand. Times are changing, like it or not. Only if they'd change enough to give 3rd part candidates a fighting chance. Or better yet, do away with party affiliation altogether.

 15. Top two guns have: Nikon Nikoplex P22 2-7 scopes, Archangel Target stocks, Ruger polymer trigger housings with Kidd trigger kits. Top one has PWS T3 toggerl receiver and URS 29" barrel. Middle one has Ruger semi-auto receiver, Dolomite Supafly bolt and Green Mountain 28" barrel Bottom is for reference size only with 16" stock barrel threaded by 5th SFT sniper instructor at FT Campbell. The long guns are well-balanced for off-hand shooting but fun on the bags too. Now I have to find which ammo each likes and do some real accuracy tests. Additionally I have to figure out where if any pressure points are needed 'cause I think those barrels are going to have some harmonics that may need to be controlled if possible. My OL has a1985 10/22, I dont know if I like the long barrels, from what I have read, a 22LR uses up the powder in the first 14 to 16", and after that the barrel just slows the bullet down. 30.
Details what I should start with? The gun has been sitting in the attic a long time. The previous owner had forgotten about it.
I love cleaning stainless; you can make it look brand new. Get enough Hoppe’s or M-Pro 7 to soak the gun overnight, you will need that if you become a gun nut anyway. That will release the carbon on the front of the cylinder and the rest of the gun, so you can scrub it away with a tooth brush. Use Happich Semi chrome or Mothers Magwheel Polish to polish the gun. Any very fine metal polish may work; these are just two that I know for sure work very well. Don’t use a Dremel tool it’s too small and can leave indentations quickly. If you want to polish with a buffer use a bench buffer with about an 8” wheel and buffing rouge. Makes short work of it and maintains a better surface area. The trick to removing pitting is maintaining surface smoothness and integrity. If you put a wave or indentation in the metal surface you can spot it a mile away. If the pits are very deep; don’t try to take them out. If they aren’t they have to be blended over the entire surface. Once the surface is the way you want it to be it is either polished to a mirror finish or glass bead blasted.

 31. I was also raised in Illinois only I’m not ashamed of it. Comparing all of Illinois to Chicago is like comparing all of Tennessee to Memphis. I work to help educate the people of Illinois when I am there and they are close to getting another shot at carry permits. Only I take a little different approach than you. As I tell them, when you are talking with a state legislator the minute the words “My 2nd Amendment rights” cross your lips; you don’t have any credibility. The 2nd amendment fight has been fought and for the time being it has been settled by the SCOTUS. You can argue the rulings all you want; but they are the law of the land. So, do you want to argue about rights that you don’t have, or do you want carry privileges? I have been arrested and jailed for no crime other than having a loaded gun in my car; so I am absolutely sure that I don’t have a 2nd amendment right to bear arms. So should I just give up? Of course not. Illinois doesn’t recognize the 2nd amendment as an individual right, and neither does the state of Tennessee. But being able to carry a gun dosen’t require that they do. Being Democrat or Republican has little to do with what a person believes about gun rights/privileges. Every state has its problems. I am trying to help my friends and family be able to carry guns in Illinois. I would also like to ask my friends on this forum to stop with the bitter attacks on the citizens of the state of Illinois. They make you look terrible and hate filled. They are fighting the same fight the citizens of many states fought in order to be able to carry. Please support our brothers and sisters in arms in Illinois. I can assure you that it is a fight between the good people downstate and the thugs in Chicago that don’t want to get shot, or have their juvenile delinquent kids they raised, killed by armed citizens that refuse to be victims. I love the state of Illinois and I hope to return there when I retire; it is home. I have been in Tennessee for 14 years and have a few more to go. I am a law abiding citizen and try to help my community in any way I can. I served my country, have two honorable discharges, served my community as a Police Officer and am proud to call myself an American and a Patriot. I would never turn my back on an American in need no matter what state they live in.

 32. our club isnt too far from you and is very casual for 3 gun. They allow you to use a 10-22 for example. Their IDPA guys are more picky (its like goldilocks: that gun is too big, this one too small, only glocks are just right, ....) but would probably let you shoot anything the first few times to give it a try with what you have. What you need for 3g is a defensive pistol, defensive shotgun, and semi automatic rifle. Typically a 9mm, 12 ga, and 223 but that is not required its just the most common. Must have a sturdy holster for the pistol on a sturdy belt. Everything else is optional --- some folks have hundreds and hundreds of dollars in gear, others hardly anything. Most folks have an optic on their rifle. Most folks have at least 2 mags for rifle and pistol, most have 3-4 for pistols. You can probably shoot skeet with any shotgun, though I would avoid pump for it, but you don't get to take extra shots, you still only get 2. Most clubs would welcome you to come watch and ask questions. For that, remember to have hearing and eye protection. If you want to do it seriously, you need to study gear a LOT and get it right the first time. That is, you want to compete and go to bigger competitions and so on. Serious competitiors try to have every advantage with gear, such as shotgun speed loaders or magazine fed shotguns, customized pistols, high end optics, and so on. The competition side of it (the serious folks) take the fun out of it for me so I will leave it at that --- I just do it for the fun of it and to get a little activity and a bit of practice shooting on the move etc.

You are more than welcome to come and watch. You will need safety glasses and hearing protection for any competition. Edit: The best way to get started is to grab your gear and show up. If there is anything you don't have people will help you. The thing I tell all first time shooters is, above all else concentrate on being safe.

It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . I ate a ton of it growing up, and matter of fact picked a small mess along the 3rd Creek greenway about three years ago and ate it for old time's sake. And yep, boil for a bit, drain, change water boil some more, adding pork fat is traditional. Not bad, damn good if you're really hungry. Or the fact that his plan for the military includes neutering us when they are needed most. I've seen the messiah in person. He looks at people wearing a military uniform like a piece of dog crap stuck to the bottom of his wifes $10k shoe.

 47. Well not exactly true. He has lost at least one of his gun fights. For those who think I hate Yeager for no reason think again. Let me start by saying I knew of him and even followed a lot of what he said on his forum long before I even knew of the incident or even became a contractor. I agreed with nearly everything he was saying and he was the biggest motivating factor in me walking away from a career in LE that had spanned nearly 1/2 my life in order to become a contractor. I looked up to, and respected, him because of what he was saying on his forum. The first I heard of the "incident" was in passing from a Bagdad contracting veteran when I was talking about Yeager’s forum. That particular person had been in the contracting world since long before the 2003 invasion. I thought to myself what does he know and this new guy, me, even stood up for James. After all I had read every word I could of James trying to learn the contracting world. So I began asking in person, as well as in emails, all those I had met in my time contracting. The majority said they had never worked with him and only heard rumors. But a few knew him and knew him very, very well. It was those who gave me a bit of insight into the workings of James Yeager before the incident ever happened. Those that knew him said his work ethic leaved something to be desired. He was a hot head and troublesome to work with. They also said that he was going to be let go had the “incident†not secured his fate with ERSM. Then for the following year I read every piece I could on the "incident". I looked at it as objectively as I could because I had come from the camp that had cheered James for a very long time. I wanted James to be in the right but I just didn't see it. The video isn't where I had my problem even though he made mistakes. The biggest problem I had was with the AAR where he, in his own words, was blaming everyone else it seemed. I will not post it here but I do have a copy. Did the fact he had put the car in neutral and forgot contribute to the deaths? Hard to say but it sure didn’t help. Again, my problem isn’t with the “incident†itself. It is with the AAR coupled with what the people who knew him told me. I realize it is easier to do a Monday morning quarterbacking but I am far from an armchair quarterback. I can say without a doubt I have spent more time in his shoes while overseas than he has. I have worked for several companies and paid my dues during that time. I would consider myself knowledgeable on the contracting world or at least until I was injured overseas, things have since changed. And yes, I have taken fire and done so on more than one trip and multiple times each trip. I have worked with some bad guys as well as some great guys. But one thing generally holds true, if you are one of the bad guys you are not called back. Good guys are always called back and even by different companies. Your reputation precedes you on any contract after your first. I am glad he made lemonade out of lemons but I personally can't get over it. I hope he has changed from the early years but it is hard for a cheetah to lose its spots. Dolomite
