(long pause) . . . Most women are not going to want to see your gun on a first date. Get to know her better before you show it to her. Gradually, especially if you're gentle with her, she may be willing to touch it, and, even later, make it shoot. If you're previously divorced, you probably know that after a certain amount of time, some women might want to take your gun away from you and lock it in a little box, or only let you use it when she's in the mood, or after you do some sort of favor for her. Hopefully, you'll find out early enough whether or not she's actually just jealous and wants one of her own, for the sense of power it gives her, or whether she's willing to share yours, which seems to make most couples happy. Of course, if you share it with her, you'll probably be the one who ends up cleaning it. I hope I'm being clear enough here. I am thinking that if you treat all kinds of guns with an appreciation for their power, that you introduce her to them with patience, that you use them respectfully and with finesse, and are willing to share them when she's interested, that shooting guns together will make both of you very happy. . . . Very, Very Happy.4 points

I've heard the arguments back and forth on the moral decline of our society, the Judeo-Christian ethic, whether or not we were founded on Religious principles, and whether we were a humanist secular nation or a Christian nation and up to this point it was mainly academic with pointers going in both directions. Last night I saw it quantified. How any one could vote for and not see through a thinly cloaked avowed socialist who has proven that his ideology is divisive and destructive can only mean one of two things. Either Americans are not very bright or we have ceased to be a culture that looked out for his fellow man and are willing to burn it all to the ground as long as we get our Union pensions, welfare, cell phone, government checks, and healthcare, Two things that became reality last night: 1. We are no longer a Judeo-Christian nation and govern by the principles of our founding fathers and documents. 2. The secular-humanist now outnumber the conservatives. You can argue that these are good things, but every part of our society that is measurable would refute that claim. You can argue that we are progressing, yet every quantifiable measurement would deny that. We only have to look at the history of those who have gone before us in Germany, Russia, Italy, Greece, France, China, England, Spain ........... Argue what you may, but the moral decline in America is now quantifiable and present. We have stripped the values of our founding from the highest levels of authority and this is what we have been left with. This is not fatalist, but I propose we let the socialist have full economic control and let them finish what is unavoidable. By fighting it we only prolong the pain and suffering that is inevitable. When it is in ashes and the people cry out for redemption, we rebuild from the beginning, fresh and new. My 2 cents or 1/2 cent once inflation catches up.3 points
Ever since I was first able to vote (1992), I have voted straight line Republican. Over the last year or so, I came to realize that there are only a few differences between the parties.
"The Soviet Union had a single, entrenched, systemically corrupt political party, which held a monopoly on power. The U.S. has two entrenched, systemically corrupt political parties, whose positions are often indistinguishable, and which together hold a monopoly on power. In either case, there is, or was, a single governing elite, but in the United States it organized itself into opposing teams to make its stranglehold on power seem more sportsmanlike." Sheesh. While I am certainly no Iran apologist, would we not try to shoot down another country's drone if it was flying over our soil? Fellas, all of this neocon foreign policy adventurism is one of the reasons the Republican party is in the toilet. FWIW, the Obamaphone is nothing new, although it is more frequent in its usage. The original program was Lifeline and it was created under the Reagan administration. During GW's term, cell phones started to be handed out. The whole thing is more entitlement freebie bs, but at least be fair in your criticism.3 points
It's not difficult for me at all, GWB wasn't a socialists at heart; he would have NEVER let four Americans die while watching it on TV and done NOTHING to stop it. Further, I believe, at the end of the day, he was an honest man who truly loved and wanted the best for the United States...I can say NONE of those things about Obama. At least two members here have mentioned they've been laid off this week. HvyMtl, you need to let all these companies know how well the economy is doing, and maybe mention what a great deal Obamacare will be - that being the impetus for these closings. Show 'em some cherry picked graphs, that'll do it. The second order effects, companies shutting down or downsizing due to losing corporate customers and the hit the economy is going to take just before the new taxes cut in are really going to be dramatic.2 points

I think ammo and mags would be the place to start personaly. A 308 could be usefull but isn't at the top of my list by a long shot. As for the training, I don't see an EOTWAWKI scenario taking place anytime too soon and it will likely be a series of escalating issues if it were to happen at all. One of the steps involves would most likely be a high cap mag ban or other AW ban. Doubtfull there will be a ban on training classes anytime soon. While I do think they're a fine idea, I would make sure to be well stocked before investing in one personaly. After all you actually want to be able to use your firearms training on firearms right? Even the most ignorant person in my family can use a gun on at a rudimentary level and I suspect your already much better off than that. The highest trained person in the world would most likely be forced to duck and cover in a fire fight without having something to engage the enemy.1 point

Ever since I was first able to vote (1992), I have voted straight line Republican. Over the last year or so, I came to realize that there are only a few differences between the parties. Other than those few differences, the parties are pretty much the same; they are for big government. For example, all we heard from Republicans during this election cycle was repeal Obamacare, repeal Obamacare, repeal Obamacare. From Mitt, it was repeal and replace. If Republicans hated it has much as the vast majority of the citizens of this country, then why the heck didn't they defund the damn thing. The House controls the purse strings, and Republicans control the House, so what is the problem? The answer is they didn't want to do it. Republicans wanted to use it as a political tool to get reelected. Therefore, when people complain about Obamacare, they should point the finger at both parties. Those that screwed us by passing it, and those that screwed us by failing to defund it when they had the opportunity. I have become so disillusioned with our federal government. Both parties are out for the same and only thing, power. That is why I could not vote for either party in this election. In many cases we are forced to choose between a s**t sandwich, and a s**t sandwich with various condiments to make it appear more appealing. I have listened to several of the establishment talking heads over the last couple of days, which includes some of the news radio talk show mafia, and I don't think they understand why they lost. All I hear is that we should have ran this guy, next time we need to run this guy, we should have done this, or next time we will do this to pander to this group or that group. Really? Is the answer really to become more and more like the Democratic party? If they do that, which I believe they will, the Republicans will never get back into the White House, nor will they regain my vote.1 point

I guess I'm a little irritated, so I will be blunter than usual. I'll make a comparison to Baseball, to make it a little easier on folks. I'll try to use little words. There is Baseball, and there are fans of Baseball, and there are rules in Baseball. We support this team, or that team and it's all straightforward. Except it's not. There's a little concept called "Inside Baseball." This has a lot to do with the intrigue between the team owners, and the buying and selling of players, and a lot of other strange stuff that affects the outcome of Baseball, even though it's not "Baseball" itself. I imagine it's possible for a Baseball fan to enjoy the game, and never think twice about "Inside Baseball." And yet, to pretend that "Inside Baseball" doesn't have an impact on the game and scores and outcomes of Baseball, is, well, VERY STUPID. I have very little respect for someone that can't grasp that basic concept. In Politics, there are Major Parties and Third Parties and a lot of stuff involved in the game of Politics. And there is "Inside Politics" and "Inside Inside Politics" and "Inside Inside Inside Politics," probably 10 layers down. And, all this "Inside Politics" stuff affects Politics. So, among other problems, otherwise well-meaning individuals who vote for Third Parties in General Elections out of principle, or loyalty, or personal desire, are not creating the outcome they expect or desire. In many cases, due to "Inside Politics" they are working against their own best interests. They are being used by Powerful People who are playing "Inside Politics." Little People who do this to themselves, I am very sorry to say, are VERY STUPID. There really is no other way to put it. It is necessary to put your heart and soul into Politics and work to get your particular point of view incorporated in the views of one of the two Major Parties competing in the General Election. You will never get just exactly what you want, but there are millions of people in this country and more or less like-minded people need to compromise and cooperate to get some part of their views into the views of one of the two Major Parties, because of the millions of People, No One is getting just exactly what they want. To not do this, to not understand this, is VERY STUPID. If you are so VERY STUPID as to make this fundamental error, it is best that you just stick with Baseball. Voting for Third Parties in a General Election is a lot like playing Baseball in the PARKING LOT of the Baseball Stadiums where the real teams are playing Baseball. It uses up players and energy and resources that could be better used by one of the real teams inside the stadium. It would be a lot smarter to get a player or two, or a tactic or two that you want onto one of the two teams playing in the Baseball stadium.1 point

He's proposed no policies to fix Social Security, Medicare, or entitlement spending. He hasn't proposed any policy to address immigration. He has yet to propose a successful policy approach to energy problems. His foreign policy ideas are primarily extensions of Bush-era policies or quite similar to Romney's. He has not redeemed the USA in the eyes of the international community, we are still engaged in armed conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. He's ignored atrocities/genocide in Darfur and Syria. He oversaw the Benghazi debacle. He oversaw the "Fast and Furious" debacle. He hasn't gotten ONE SINGLE VOTE from Republicans or Democrats in Congress for his proposed budgets nor has he been able to lead a compromise between the two parties on budget issues. He oversaw the passage of the healthcare reform act, which most Americans don't approve of, that he's exempted dozens of businesses from, and that he had to lie to sell to the American people (hence the penalty vs. tax issue). Violent crime increased last year for the first time in almost 2 decades. He's increased the use of federal authorities to raid state-sanctioned medical marijuana facilities in conflict with his campaign promises. He's appointed members of special interest groups to positions in his administration in conflict with his campaign promises. He took a meaningless stance on same-sex marriage. His own administration has the gender-based pay disparities he claims to abhor. Crime and unemployment is at extraordinary high levels within the black community. He's apparently doing such a good job that he won by a much smaller margin this year than in 2008. Please tell me one single clear achievement that demonstrates he's doing a good job.1 point

I am concerned that more and more we see officers that would rather treat every citizen as a suspect rather than a fellow citizen. Police are civilians too. They need to realize that just because someone is armed does not equate to reasonable suspicion or probable cause for anything. The fact that the supervisor ordered him released tells me there wasn't anything to it more than likely - officers have a litany of things they can arrest for if they are angry. Some police I think are scared of citizens from the time they go onto the road until they come off. That is unhealthy for them as well as society.1 point
