The police could have verily easily told her to immediately take the firearm, secure it in her vehicle, and give her a good lesson about making dumb mistakes with no arrest necessary. I wonder if perhaps she was unable to prove that she had actually just taken a CCW class or got belligerent? Unfortunately, today's officers are not taught to use the discretion the law allows like they were in my day, which is one of the reasons I got out of the policing business.3 points

Well... I say this mostly humorously... The anti-gun crowd will be at a severe disadvantage if ever they go too far. After all... well, which side would have the weapons? Heh! They can't shoot their PEACE AND LOVE beams out to a few hundred yards, I know that much... eh... I know this is a serious thread, but I like to have a more lighthearted view of these things over-coating the serious, dark stuff.2 points

Well, since the gun was unloaded, she could have been attempting to <not> carry. If I was a judge, she could easily convince me that she's more of a dumbass than a criminal. In fact, I'm already convinced.2 points

From USA Today, ‘Clutching a .38-caliber revolver stashed in her sparkly blue purse makes 36-year-old Nikki Goeser feel more secure when walking to her car at night. Goeser, who says she feared guns as a child growing up in Western Kentucky, does not take safety for granted. “I thought they’d jump right up from the table and shoot me,†said Goeser, whose father collected guns. But her life changed after watching a man walk into a bar in April 2009 on a rain-soaked night here and shoot her husband in the head with a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol. The shooter then stood over him and continued to fire rounds into his body.‘ One might think that Goeser would be more fearful of guns than ever after the love of her life was shot right in front of her. However, the widow has become a champion for gun rights in her home state of Tenessee. Goeser believes if someone had been carrying a legal weapon in the bar that night that her husband would still have a chance to be here today. Goeser is now making the political circuit to get Tennessee’s gun carry laws clarified, reformed and expanded. Sep 10 20121 point

Or doesn't work as in the driver is making his next delivery before you find all your teeth. I used to be a driver for a major shipping company. I have dealt with every kind of dog and dog owner. Most were uneventful. Occasionally, one would have an attitude and I would simply leave, as you suggest. However, this method often results in a pissed off customer calling the company and complaining because Spot wouldn't hurt a flea, they paid good money to get it shipped 2 day, etc. and the company sends the driver right back. Combine that with the fact that drivers are pressured to get rid of the package the first day, and you might understand why a driver would try to work his way past a vicious dog. There were also times when there was no dog in sight until I made the delivery and turned to find Cujo standing between me and the truck, and he wouldn't back down. What is a driver to do then? I beat the hell out of several dogs in this situation. What would you have done? Expecting a driver "to know how to act around dogs" is impossible because no two dogs are alike and none of them are 100% predictable. Besides, it's not the driver's obligation to read your dog's mind.1 point

Spreading weight out to two attachment points, especially if they are not on the already thickest center part of the holster may help some, and will certainly help over all stability and weight distribution. But biggest factor is always the belt. Using a good wide (like 1.5") and thick belt suited for IWB/OWB carry? And a properly fitted one, that goes around actual waist and not sagging down under any gut on hips only. - OS1 point

All my videos suck like that. The wife doesn't know when I'm going to fire and I'm too lazy to chop down the video. The wife must think getting the rear in the video is a bonus. LOL When I get time to go shoot again, I'll send you and Johnny PM.1 point

Ultimately HE is held accountable. Appears HE was watching it unfold in real time. As the Father of Navy Seal Tyrone Woods said, it's better to die a hero than live a coward. Rush made a good observation today. He compared the media coverage that Cindy Shehan was getting when Bush was President compared to what BHO is getting today on the Benghaz quagmire. Come to your own conclusion.1 point

He ought to have no trouble at all since all he has to do is look in the mirror. It's a real shame our country doesn't take traitorous acts seriously or use firing squads any longer.1 point

Well, sounds like there is plenty of wiggle room to knock it down to the Class B 'meanor charge at worst if she has to plea bargain. Lots of lawyering room here -- if indeed she were arrested outside the vehicle, and the purse were inside it, would appear she was not "going armed". On the other hand, if arrested inside the vehicle, the "dropping off/picking up passengers" out should be in force, though she could still be culpable for non-school related unlawful carry charge. Of course, she may have had the purse on her when she went into the school and had just put it back in the car before she got in when popped. Little details like that could make diff when the details get debated. - OS1 point

I concur...given the slaps on wrists they give to some who do far more dangerous things, I don't think this lady deserves much "punishment".That said, I'm also not sure I want her carrying a loaded firearm either....seems to me she either is a bit on the stupid side or she knew she was breaking the law and didn't care...either way, I don't think she is the type of person that should be carrying.1 point

I am just going to say it. If they let that idiot who shot at the guy that stole his truck, which is attempted murder, discharge in city limits, and a dozen other violations, go pretty much with a warning, this lady should be fined $100 and made to pick up trash for a week AT THE MOST.1 point

It's just funny to me that we can throw somebody into prison when they had NO criminal intent, or even the means to carry out a criminal act. That is beyond stupid.1 point

called S&W. I was surprised they didn't really ask a lot of questions. They said 'just send it in (no charge) and we'll look at it". I just went online to fill out the form and now going to wait for the shipping label.1 point

it wont happen like that nobody will come to your door and tyake your guns.it is already happening now in schools in the media it will be ourselfs that take them away.it will be for a better good taught to our children in schools it gets stronger every day.teachers have kids most everyday longer than parents interact with them .it is a slow process but make no mistake it is happening now .for all of you who say i will fight to keep my guns how many young people have you taken to shoot other than you children in the last year.how many people have you taught to clean a gun or reload ,thats what is hurting us shooting and hunting is dieing a slow death.i try to take a new kid to my range each month if they are not exposed to the sport they wont know anything about it .to me it is great to watch a young person shoot a rifle for the first time and if we dont pass it on some day we wont have it anymore.just my thoughts1 point

We did that a few times as well. In fact I had a sales guy give me his direct number once and he said when this deal expires in a year call me back and I'll do it again. I did that for a couple of years, but I guess he moved on, as he is no longer at that number. About a year ago, I tried again, and Comcast would not budge. I threatened that I was going to move to DirecTV, and they basically said "good luck". I even tried calling back to speak to someone else and then asked to speak to a manager, but they held their ground. I told them I wanted to schedule a disconnect, and they said, we'll be happy to. We moved to DirecTV and they have been OK. Using AT&T for Internet has been frustrating. They can't seem to get the bill right, couldn't get the install scheduled correctly, and the speed is never up to snuff. But, my cable/internet bill is less than half of what I was paying Comcast.1 point

No, they'll move her else where they think she is safe. Her parents will not change. If the girl is of legal age, she needs to do it on her own without fear of her parents.1 point

I can shoot a criminal and go eat lunch; I know that. I also know that’s not normal, but killing innocent animals is not normal either. I’m not shooting a dog unless it is attacking me, and I'm not hunting any animal for sport. If you need to put a dog down for a reason that’s one thing. If someone thinks they can kill them just because they are loose; they are wrong. I hold my dog in a lot higher regard than many people I know; he’s part of my family. It’s why I protect him and make sure he can’t run loose.1 point

I have to have a photo ID to cash a check, buy alcohol, or a gun but don't need one to vote? Give me a break, PLEASE!! Tennessee passed the voter photo ID law and makes them FREE at the DMV. Even opened the DMV on Saturdays--you can only get a photo ID so the lines are not long..1 point

As much charity work as I hear about being done by members here on TGO, I smell an EXCELLENT and truly deserving project. If the next location needs to be built from the ground up, I can say I'd be more than happy to help and I have no doubt several others would say the same. I am of course assuming that this is okay with insurance whatnot. I have no idea but I don't see it being to farfetched for an insurance company to not cover something or increase rates or not want to insure unless they know the building company as a reputable company instead of just a bunch of helpful customers. I'm sure yall are much more familiar with those kinds of details than I am, nevertheless, if there's anything can be done by volunteer work and yall need some bodies, just post about it here on TGO I'm sure you'll get all the help you need.1 point

I find it difficult to believe that probably the most disliked politician in American history could be hiding anything after all of this time. Anything that could have been used to keep the "Lying King" out of office would have been exposed long ago. The only real weapon that can be used against Obama is a vote. Everything else is just crazy talk.1 point

I bet the reason why O is so worried about his college transcripts and applications is because he likely received aid for being a foreign student or used false information. He is so full of lies and deceit that it is hard to tell what is truth or what is lies. Dolomite1 point
